Noise level was mild during our visit, which was between typical lunch and dinner time. Posted signs advertised live music and dancing would wager this is one very busy hotspot on a Friday and Saturday night. Large gravel parking lot, typical of the area, casual and friendly.

Today was disappointing....my sandwich was good as usual, however my wife had the BLT. She was shocked at awful it was, tiny, thumper-cooked bacon, no miracle whip or mayo even offered as a side. I finally had a bite and there was absolutely no flavor except for dry toast, and a greasy aftertaste from the bacon. Also, the wait staff was not that great, most of the time sat right at the chair/table and did not much for waiting or checking customers. Hey Uncle Charlie....you should tighten it back up again please.

Keeping to a Vegan diet in meat centric Cheyenne with a new crew doesn't make things easier. I'm sure somethings will improve as they get their footing. It was interesting to be there during an "off-peak" time mid-afternoon and the place was very busy with dine in and to-go orders. Despite the "stress test" their crew gets high marks for being cheerful, cooperative, and cordial. All of that counts for much. I write to inform people who keep to a vegan aka plant based diet where they can find places to eat in Cheyenne. It is in that context my review is best understood. Others who keep to an omnivior diet likely have a different experience than me when it comes to the food served. I ordered a Vegan "Magic Mushroom" "pinner" (8") on whole wheat minus pepper Jack, and minus shake (parmesan), with a $1.50 upcharge to add guacamole. Total cost including tax and tip was just under $16.00 They told me it would take about 20 minutes and I was fine with that. Unfortunately, what they brought out had the seasoned Parmesan sprinkled all over it. I pointed that out and the server apologized for the error and said one would be correctly made. About 10 minutes later that is what was served to me. It's an okay, not great sandwich. Look at my picture and you will see there's one piece of portobello slice and one slice of tomato on each half of the sandwich. When the sandwich is called "Magic Mushroom" I honestly expect it's going to have a generous amount of mushrooms on it and was unpleasantly surprised when it didn't. The toasted whole wheat is the only vegan bread option and is fine, especially since it makes up most of the sandwich. It would be nice if they would substitute the guacamole for cheese without the upcharge, but that is probably a "corporate decision". As a plus they are open late. A downside is that it is just not a very satisfying sandwich. Being more generous with the mushrooms would go a long way to remedy that. I hope it's something they will consider as well as adding more vegan friendly, healthy eating options. There are other sandwiches, including one which includes hummus, which might be more substantial. I'll try it some other time. Service (Awesome start) Food (It was tasty) Value (overpriced for what I got) Ambience- confusing, the vibe is stoners wanting to satisfy munchies which is natural in Marijuana legal Colorado but seems strange in "Refer Madness" anti-cannabis Wyoming. Not a big deal, but amusing incongruous. They have a bar which fits Wyoming more closely.

The bread was just okay, but the lemon chicken, sautéed vegetables, and French onion soup were phenomenal. Unfortunately, the experience really fell apart when it came time to pay. It took around 30-45 minutes just to get the bill and complete the payment. At that point, I was honestly considering not leaving a tip or just walking out. It's a shame because the food was genuinely excellent, but the extremely slow service at the end left a bad enough impression that I probably won't be back.

Little Bear Inn has been operating on the outskirts of Cheyenne since 1958. Despite coping with…read moreownership changes, fires, Covid shutdowns and bad economies, this restaurant is a survivor. The decor is part rustic, part casual, part strange, but very comfortable in a cozy way. It's probably as close to "fine dining" as you'll find in the Cheyenne area, with a high-end "country club" menu that doesn't look like it has changed much in 65 years. I mean, where else would you find Frog Legs in a Rocky Mountain restaurant with the Glenn Miller Orchestra and Perry Como on the background music? Steaks, chops, chicken, fish & shrimp will give any diner an array of choices. Everything we ordered was really very good (see pictures), not spectacular, but taste and quality was well worth the price. And, the bar knows how to mix great cocktails! Plus, service was OUTSTANDING, with our waitress, Cheyenne (seriously), who could not have been more helpful & pleasant all evening. Bottom line: I'm giving Little Bear Inn 4 solid stars, with one caveat if you'd like to get to 5 stars: I'm asking management to do a little more on plate presentation. The food is great, but it's served as if we are in a cafeteria, with no thought in the kitchen to making it "look pretty" before it gets to the table. I'm sure the kitchen can do better with some effort. A little more attention to making your dishes look as good as they taste would go a long way to keeping customers happy. I'll definitely be back, but I'm hoping for just a little more effort in dish presentation.

I now get those same items vegan by telling the server to remove the dairy (cheese and sour cream), and picking sauces which contain no dairy. This on my favorites list in Cheyenne. While the refried beans are cooked with lard, the black beans are vegetarian, as is the rice. It's rare to find a Mexican restaurant that does not have chicken stock in their rice. This is one of the few. I've eaten here for about since this location opened, and the other location since it opened about 3 years ago. While they serve breakfast, they don't open until 11 AM. The dinners I've had here are enjoyable. We really like their mushroom salsa. Yep, mushroom salsa. Their regular salsa is very good. If you want more intense ask for habanero sauce on the side. I appreciate their chip aren't too salty. There barely is salt on them. Too often tortilla chips are way over salted. The are also one of the few place which make Original Margaritas correctly: lime juice, Contreaun, Triple Sec, and Tequila, nothing else other than ice. They have other variation for those who like them, but finding a correctly made Original Margarita is about as rare as finding Mexican Rice without chicken stock.
