    The Aspen cabin
    Monica P.

My husband and I searched tons of dude ranches looking for the perfect summer get-a-way from the Texas heat and settled on C Lazy U. We were NOT disappointed! Lodging: we chose the Aspen cabin since it was just the two of us. I loved everything about it, other then the number of stairs to and from the main ranch: the decor, very comfy bed (although we were pretty tired after all of our daily activities!), having my very own fireplace, and the view! Food: Waaay above my expectations. Honestly, I was blown away with the cuisine - both the taste and the amount of choices per meal. Chef Cory was very personable and came to the table daily asking for feedback. He also had an awesome mustache face mask to respect social distancing while he was walking table to table. Horses: I mean why else do you think I chose this place?!? Amy and Tammy choose a horse for you based on your skill and comfort level with horses and if you are happy with your horse, you get to keep that horse all week. The herd is over 200 horses so there is definitely one to fit your experience level. My horse was Gypsy and she was a dream! She was super responsive and loved to lope the trails. People: Wranglers: they get in early and jingle the horses to the barn every morning around 6:15...definitely worth getting up to see! They are all very experienced riders and not only guide you on your trail rides, but will help hone your skills and answer questions about horses, the property, etc along the way. Everyone was awesome, but a special shout out to Abby and Halsey for taking us on an all day ride, and fixing my saddle bag for me when it fell off. Walker, Maggie, and Haylei were awesome and made every trail a blast. I feel like I am a way better rider now because of all of them. Servers: The servers are all very nice and ensure you are enjoying every meal. This year, due to COVID, we ate meals outside by the pool, and the servers did a great job of getting food out to you quickly and making sure you had everything you need. Grace was such a sweetheart and we saw her at almost every meal. Thanks for being the best wine pourer we could have asked for. Ranch hands: there are quite a few ranch hands on the property doing all of the odds and ends jobs, including guiding activities. Cooper was very helpful in coaching us through archery, BB guns, skeet shooting, and he managed to not laugh at our epic failure throwing hatchets. They also do a night of branding so bring your leather belts and boots for them to put a C Lazy U brand on. Management: great management team here. Dave, the GM, walked around during meals asking for feedback. Paul and Scott, two of the assistant GM's, made cowboy coffee over a campfire in the mornings and went above and beyond to make sure you were having fun. Paul also MC'ed the Shodeo, which was an absolute blast. Activities: The river that runs through the property and the pond by the main building were both great for fishing. The spa was excellent and the tent I was in had a glass floor to look down and see the river during the massage. Kids - although we don't have kids, the ability to have a group of trusted counselors take care of the little ones while the adults had fun was very impressive! All in all, highly recommend this ranch to anyone ready to have a good time. The ranch was beautiful and the people were friendly. We will definitely be coming back!

I spent the weekend at the C Lazy U Ranch for a retreat with 35+ people (now life-long friends after this) and there aren't enough words to rave about my positive experience there. The activities available are out of this world: ice skating on the frozen pond, snowmobiling around the nearby hills, cross-country skiing with a guide, horseback riding in the snow, snow-shoeing in the meadows, hot tubbing, and a game room... and so many more. The facilities were clean and THE STAFF!? The best ever. Special shout out to Sean, Scott, Alex, Laurel, Nick and Jared who catered to our program. Everyone there is incredibly kind and helpful, who seriously made our retreat unforgettable. I hope I have another chance to come back but until then, I'll scroll through all the photos and videos that remind me of the beautiful memories created at C Lazy U Ranch!

Recently went on a weekend retreat with our company. From the time we pulled up the service was outstanding. Every person we dealt with was nice and respectful. We hung out by the fire made s'mores and even did archery and hatchet throwing. I will defiantly be coming back with my family.

My first time visiting a ranch and first time in the Rockies . I must say from the first minute I arrived to the last dinner, the staff and hosts have been absolutely amazing . The hospitality is unreal and the food was equally amazing . This place is must for vacations and team meetings. I can't wait to come back

Absolutely phenomenal! The C Lazy U Ranch brings together beauty and adventure in the outdoors. It was the perfect place to host a leadership off-site (thanks Outdoor Industry Association) because of the variety of meeting spaces and group activities. The staff - Sean, Scott, Alex, Laurel, Nick & more - made us feel right at home. Truly a great outdoors experience.

Beautiful ranch with 200 horses on the property. That staff was awesome and took care of us at every opportunity. Food and drink was excellent and the accomodations were 5 star. I would reccomend staying here and will hopefully return when my children are older. There is not much to eat between meals. If you miss lunch because you are doing an activity, there is nothing to eat until dinner.

    The view from my room.

Had the pleasure of saying here for a Marine Corps reunion. The staff was the most attentive I have ever experienced. They never said no to anything and bent over backwards for everyone's needs. The meals were delicious and plentiful. Also the area was beautiful and the horseback rides were stunning. If you have the opportunity I would highly suggest this as a must see destination.

Absolutely phenomenal . My whole family, grade schoolers, teens and adults had a fantastic week. The activities, food, staff....it just couldn't have been better. This is the best vacation ever, anywhere, anytime. There are things to do in all age groups. The staff are the best, they go out if their way to satisfy all your wishes. The food is 5 star. The activities are never ending, yet if you want some quiet time, it's there if you want it. My grandkids, 7 and 9, had the time of their lives!

No picture will do this place justice, go see for yourself!

When I called the lodge, she had to walk to the office to take my reservation (since the whole property is only run by 2-3 people and often she is somewhere else other than the office). The booking was not that hard over the phone but make sure you speak slowly and clearly when you give her any info invovling numbers :D The check-in time is 3pm and check out time is 10am but you can call ahead to check in or check out at an earlier or later time. Upon arrival, Eddie and her daughter greeted us warmly. We were told since the room we originally booked had some plumbing issues we got upgraded to a better room. Yay! The new room is bigger and has a fire place. Eddie took us on a mini tour to see the other lodges on the property as well since each one has a different theme and they are actually quite funky. The lodge we stayed at was small but had adequate space. The kitchen has everything you need except spices and seasonings. There are lodges that can accommodate pets so just ask. We hiked a bit (since the lodge is pretty close to Rocky Mountain National Park. We also went to Hot Sulfur Springs at night (check out my review here http://www.yelp.com/biz/hot-sulphur-springs-resort-and-spa-hot-sulphur-springs#hrid:olYd01SdW95whyRPgZKegg) I like the fact that the lodge is close to those two things. You can probably also ski and ride horses around the area too. Just a note, before you check out, you need to take out the trash and clean the room otherwise they will fine you $25.

The dishes are not locked up and are very accessible to little children, door didn't lock and kept blowing open throughout the night. Kids easily could run out or dogs! I had black hair in my sheets. The water pressure is a trickle making showering unenjoyable and dishes very hard to clean! YOU ARE EXPECTED TO CLEAN YOUR DISHES AND ROOM before checkout, we got passive aggressive comments from SUE because I'm the WIFE and left six dishes in the sink! IT WAS MY JOB to clean them! I didn't know, there were no signs! NOW THE BIGGEST CON of all! Passive aggressive property manager! DO NOT STAY here!!! SPEND YOUR MONEY on a airbnb that deserves it! They didn't even ask us to leave but threatened to call the COPs if we didn't leave in 5 minutes in front of my toddler and infant child! I am still in SHOCK! I would like to laugh and JOKE I HAVE BEEN KICKED OUT OF NICER PLACES THEN THIS! Let me start by saying we are not criminals, we don't drink excessively and are a pretty nice clean family. After trying to coordinate a room change ALL DAY with SUE, she finally gave us 20min to switch rooms so I left the six dishes and didn't vacuum. I was honestly concerned about her turn around time! The kiddos had spilled some animal crackers on the floor but nothing a quick vacuum wouldn't fix! NOW she DID NOT TURN OVER a Room Properly! It takes more then twenty minutes to properly clean a kitchen, bedroom and bath with linens, I was a maid for years! INDUSTRY STANDARDS would say all linens need to be striped and changed. Surfaces disinfected esp. with COVID! Vacuum and mop! You would have thought we left shit In the toilet, vomit on the floor and a blown up burrito in the microwave! (ALL of WHICH I HAVE GRACIOUSLY CLEANED IN MY DAY!). So I DO THINK THE DISHES ARE NOT PROPERLY WASHED, THE BLANKETS DO NOT GET WASHED BETWEEN GUESTS AND NO MOPPING. I hope SUE gets out of the hospitality business! She thought my two year olds graham cracker floor mess was PERSONAL and it wasn't! We did leave a NORMAL mess, WE WERE ON VACATION! STAY ELSEWHERE! They kicked out our little sweet family, to fend for ourselves with 1-70 closed and the pass closed. REALLY!

Really love the bathrooms with dual sinks and the water pressure was really good in the showers. The bed was a little lumpy in the rooms we were in and the bed itself was very soft... Some pros and cons from our stay (room 1014): PROS: - the promo included lowest room rate and $20 dining credit per day. A genuinely good deal for the price - the restaurant offers on site are pretty decent, varied, and reasonably priced for BH - staff was 50/50. Literally half were welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly, while the other half was borderline rude or incompetent - the amenities were a nice perk, including a rooftop pool, and two hot tubs (1 indoor 1 outdoor) - the room and bathroom were very spacious with both a shower AND a garden tub - there were public restrooms available in the hallway - the casino floor feels spacious and there is a good variety of slot machines and table games CONS: - Communication in general is very lacking: When we walked into our room there was no literature to showcase on site dining options, WiFi password, or amenities' hours/logistics. The room service menu is not available in the Penn app nor is much information provided about one's stay. We finally found a brochure at the front desk when we went to inquire about where to find a "do not disturb" hang tag (the app live chat was useless for any room information). Room service is upon request only, that info is also not available unless asking a front desk attendant. I requested a Penn play card for gambling, the attendant did not explain how to use it, so it took us two days to realize the card must be inserted in the slots the entire time you play to track usage. You can remove it only AFTER you cash out. - It's extremely frustrating to use the Penn play cards at the machines. We had to constantly try again and again as most readers do not see a card has been inserted. Some machines we completely gave up on... - The room was TIRED (both beds had mattresses which sunk from damage/overuse, both headboards had peeling faux leather behind the pillows, there was random scotch tape on the walls and some holes/dings, the toilet's door jam was coming loose from the wall, bathroom was not extremely clean (heavy dust coating on baseboards, hair on bathroom counter, etc) - Of of 6 elevators to the tower: 4 had broken LCD screens (making it difficult to determine at which level the car would stop), 2 made very concerning cable car noises (we begun avoiding them), all 6 were unsecured (guest key card access on cars was disabled; letting ANY casino patrons access the room floors) - the pool deck has posted adults only hours (daily 7-11pm) however, despite various staff walk through a dozen children were still splashing about at 8:30pm on Friday night - the vending machine on the pool deck was out of service and drinks ordered poolside through the QR code available on tables was not delivered to the pool deck (despite note of location in order) - the ice machine on floor 10 was out of order and no microwave was available in the rooms (or in the vending room) making it impossible to get takeout if one got tired of in house options. A microwave in the vending room would be a great addition - ambient music in the casino was great mid-week throughout until on Friday night at around 8pm it was set to blast and was along with the ambient slots noise it was no longer enjoyable. We left the floor shortly after - wait staff on the casino floor was scarce both on weekdays and weekends. It didn't seem they were circulating much, and when they did come by, they often skipped us (we are not big drinkers, so it was fine for us, but it left us feeling un-welcomed). Interestingly enough, for both drinks I ordered during my stay (handed a $5 bill for tip) I was asked if I wanted any change back :-/ - the floral scent that's pumped through the AC units on the casino floor can quickly become overwhelming and a bit nauseating. I understand casinos do this to cover up odors and have a 'signature scent' however a lighter less floral aroma may be a better choice Overall a good value for us (over low-occupancy days and with a good promotion) and a change of pace for a fun few days away from the hustle and bustle of city living.
