Absolutely phenomenal area with the cutest cabins! We stayed in the bears den which had a really nice private hot tub and fire pit. The kitchen had everything that we forgot (salt, pepper, oil) and one of us forgot a tooth brush and they even had that too! Emily was so nice, super accommodating, and gave us some great recommendations! We couldn't figure out the hot tub jets and maintenance was out to help us so quickly, we can't remember his name but he was also so kind! We definitely hope to come back! read more

Writing this review as I'm sitting with my feet by the fire, river so loud I can't hear the music playing from my phone. (That is a good thing!) Our private cabin Rainbow is loaded with all that we need, including a private, 2-person hot tub and personal fire pit literally next to the wall of the river. This lodge is easily the best place I've ever stayed at. We didn't have reservations, but upon pulling into the parking lot - we were greeted right away. Beth, the owner, was so friendly and welcoming. She shared the availability and offered to walk us over to the cabin she had in mind for us. Everything was super smooth and we are sooo happy we found this place. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Don't be fooled by how it looks from the street - the beauty of this location (5 min to RMNP) is that it's private, away from the road and right on the river. When I got back from CO I told EVERYONE about River Spruce, showing them videos of the river/setting and telling them how incredible it was. I still look at the videos to this day, nearly 5 months later. I hope to visit CO again one day and River Spruce will be the place I'm most excited to return to. Now that I'm posting this review, I want to add that upon leaving, Beth happened to flag us down, thanked us for staying and told us to come back. A must if you plan on visiting Estes Park! We stayed in the Rainbow cabin for a total of 5 nights. The grounds and cabin are clean and well maintained. Our hosts were wonderful. They even left our morning muffins in our cabin for us ( b/c we were out the door by 6 am every morning). We did some big hikes in RMNP and the hot tub was a lifesaver! Waking up to the sound of a river wasn't bad either :) Kitchen stocked with cooking utensils was a plus. DO NOT GIVE THIS RESORT A DEPOSIT!!! I made a reservation with this resort on 7/29/21 at which time they took my deposit of $528.50. Due to family issues, I e-mailed a request to modify the reservation on 3/13/22. I ended up canceling the reservation on 3/25/22 and requested a refund of my deposit as the owners were nonresponsive to my e-mails and voice messages. They have continued to ignore my communications to this day. Further, they ignored the Northern Colorado/Wyoming Better Business Bureau (ID 17132146) when they contacted them to address my complaint. For sure visit if you're looking for a cabin around Estes Park, Colorado. Friendly service and spectacular views. Pricing was pretty good. The cabins were mostly clean, although one of the two beds in our cabin needed some new sheets. We had all the major appliances, beautiful view of the river out front, fully functioning jacuzzi and to top it off, the owner's dog was adorable and friendly. This is the second year we have stayed here for our anniversary and it has been amazing both times! The location is fantastic! Right on the river! Though the cabins are close, we never felt crowded and rarely see or hear anyone else. The hot tub is amazing and right next to the river! So much fun! We stayed in Estes Park for five nights but, because of a scheduling issue on our part, we were only able to stay at River Spruce for two nights. We will definitely make sure we stay there the whole time the next visit! We were greeted by Mike and Beth who allowed us to check in earlier than usual because we arrived in town early. Beth is a wealth of information and took us to our cabin and explained everything. The cabins are SO cozy and perfect for two people although ours had two full-size beds (we stayed in Dreamcatcher). The kitchen has everything you need for simple meals. The river is about 20 feet from the door so the sound of rushing water is always there - so relaxing - and the grounds around the cabins are filled with flowers and wildlife. We made use of the fire pit and the Adirondack chairs but didn't use the hot tub. No reason except we just didn't get around to it but Mike empties them and cleans them after each visit. One main thing we loved is how LGBTQ+ friendly River Spruce is. We are a lesbian couple and have to think about where we stay and if we will be comfortable but since it is owned by a lesbian couple and Beth was so welcoming we had nothing to be concerned about. We are planning on making this an annual trip and will definitely choose River Spruce for our entire stay next time. read more

This is a really nice place not far from downtown Estes Park. The managers are very nice. If you forget something it's probably already in the cabin. Very easy to prep your own meals and get a good rest. If I had any complaint it would be the heater boxes that are advertised as a fireplace. read more

River Spruce in Latin translates to........Simply Wonderful. I picked this location out of a hat. It turned out to be the greatest place on earth. Upon arrival (in the dark) the front door was open and soft lights on. Jim welcomed us. He walked us personally down a path to our cottage and gave us the run thru. Absolutely the nicest and most kind person I have ever met. The cottage was well lit inside, warm, and CLEAN. This place was in perfect order. The caretakers live directly on site and are available at any hour for any need u should have. Each cottage is nine steps from the rivers edge. Amazing is the only way to put it. My wife and I felt as if we have been missing out on this GEM all these years. Jim had perfect suggestion for places to eat and things to do in town We will be back very soon as this will become our new habit P.S. The daily morning bread/muffins are priceless. My sister found this gem of a place on a weekend stay with her husband. We came back for our father's annual birthday trip. The kids and I stayed in one cabin, my sister & her husband in another, and my father & step-mother in another. All three of the cabins were right on the river. What a prime location! Wendye and Shelley were the most amazing hosts as well. They are super friendly and always walking by with a friendly greeting. The morning muffins (a different flavor every day) were an extra special bonus. Heavenly!!!!! At night, the kids and I would watch a movie from their large DVD collection. The cabins are immaculate. Stayed here for a long weekend in the TomTom cabin. Wow, right on the river, seriously, you can fish from the deck. Hot tub on the deck overlooking the river. It's perfect! There is a gas stove that heats the cottage, a bedroom, a stocked kitchen. Outside the cabin there is a shared grill and firepit and they sell wood for your convenience. We fished in the trout-stocked river (catch and release). The owners are very nice and keep the place super maintained and clean. They bring you fresh baked muffins in the morning, and make you feel right at home. You like wildlife? Well you have elk and wild turkey to get you started. Minutes away from Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. The place really is just gorgeous and a perfect place to get away for the weekend. read more

I had family get sick in Denver and had to return quickly, so went in person and in writing got a cancellation early the morning before arrival time. Very disappointed in our stay. After leaving and only being a mile down the road, we got a call that they believed our cabin smelled like weed and they were charging us $250. They said specifically not to smoke in the cabin, and we did not. They said the smell could've possibly came in on us and made the cabin smell? I don't believe this is a valid reason to charge us the smoking fee. Unfortunately we will have to take this to court. I must say the muffins don't make up for the lack of customer service. I don't know if they're desperate for money because it's the off season, or they thought they could get away with stealing money from a young couple. INCREDIBLE!!! My wife and I stayed there 4-13 through 4-17. Very well maintained, good rates, gorgeous location, and the management and service were top notch. We drove around town and looked at other places just for giggles, but without a doubt we would highly recommend to anyone.
