We stayed here for a long weekend with another couple. Very clean and located in a great area with easy access to lots of stuff to do. 2 private bedrooms with nice king beds. Great deck to enjoy in the mornings and evenings. Away from all of the traffic in the touristy area of Estes Park. We will stay here again if we are back in the area. read more

After traveling all day to get to Solitude Cabins, we drove up and the office was closed but, Kay had left a little flash light and our keys in the mailbox with a note that said, "Welcome Back"...enjoy your stay! =D This was our second stay at Solitude Cabins in Estes Park. What an amazing find! It's just perfect. Theses cabins are situated right off of Hwy 36 just right before you get into the town of Estes Park and right off of Lake Estes. It's so perfect! These cabins are clean and equipped with everything ya need....along with a bbq grill on the back deck (be careful, ya might risk calling up a black bear for dinner. = /) and, a stackable washer and dryer so ya can wash all of your clothes before ya head back home. I really like these beautiful cabins for so many reasons...first because it's quiet and so serene. Each cabin has a Master Suite upstairs and down stairs...Perfect! This time, our cabin even had a Murphy Bed on the back wall of our cabin. Nice! The wildlife is plentiful and there aren't lots of people. After a day up in The RMNP and shopping and dining in town, you can escape back to these wonderful Solitude Cabins and relax. Exactly what we look for in a vacation. Our cabin overlooked Snow Capped Longs Peak (yeah, in late July...=D) and, a Mama Mule Deer and her little fawn came to visit us every morning and afternoon...as well as a beautiful Stellar Jay who was always looking for a roasted peanut hand out. We couldn't have picked a more perfect place to spend our Estes Park vacation. We all left a little piece of our hearts at Solitude Cabins and Estes Park. We knew the heat was going to be "On" when we returned to Dallas so, we all soaked up every second of cool Estes Park weather as long as we could. We look forward to our next visit. We're gonna miss ya! Thanks again to Kay and all of the staff at Solitude Cabins for all of your excursion recommendations and for making us feel so welcome. The Good: :: service was friendly and helpful :: close to a lot of things: the town of Estes Park (couple of miles!), grocery store (Safeway), the Stanley Hotel, gas stations, and more :: the place was super clean :: free wifi that also worked great consistently :: lots of extras in case you run out for toilet paper, tissue, etc :: fully stocked kitchen was awesome. they had everything you needed to make delicious home-cooked meals: pots, pans, utensils, dining ware, cutting board, strainer, and more :: full-sized fridge! awesome! :: full-sized stove! awesome! :: full-sized washer AND dryer!!! SO awesome! :: garbage disposal in sink. awesome! :: downstairs patio and upstairs bedroom balcony, both with dining furniture. nice quality (wood) and well-maintained. love it. great for watching the sunrise and the sunset! :: flat-panel TV and cable :: upstairs master bathroom was great...shower stall was huge and awesome, bathroom itself is also huge and awesome :: comfy downstairs sofa :: lots of windows throughout the cabin :: you need reservations for the hot tub. some might think that sucks but i think it's terrific. that way you can have privacy instead of having the awkward moments of sitting with random people and having to make small talk as you are half-naked. The Bad: :: no a/c. it got a little warm in there but luckily at night the temperature dropped to cool things down :: gas fireplace, not wood-burning. not a dealbreaker but it would have been super awesome to have a wood-burning fireplace, because i'd definitely want to go back in the chilly fall and cold winter. nothing beats the crackle of a real fire roaring in your livingroom! :: the sofabed is awful. awwwwful. the springs are IN the mattress. normally you have a thin mattress over a springed platform. nope. this was a VERY thin mattress with the springs in it and you could feel them. no way in hell would anyone want to sleep on this thing. i ended up sleeping on the sofabed as a sofa, and my nephew ended up sleeping on one of the lazy boy chairs. :: no recycling. what the?! :: downstairs bathroom tub flooded every day. blech. The Ugly: :: none Would I go back? Most certainly. The place is terrific, allowing you to enjoy the benefits of Estes Park without having to be in the craziness of Estes Park. These cabins are a group of privately-owned condominiums, with the bookings done through the management company. I spent two nights here, which cost me $570. The cabin was lovely, and the name is apt. The living room featured a three-story cathedral ceiling and a gas fireplace, HDTV, and free wifi. Two bedrooms with comfortable king beds, two full baths, a spacious eat-in kitchen, washer and dryer, and a wood deck with a table and chairs and a propane grill. Maid service is only provided for stays of a week or more, but the place was spotless when we arrived, with plenty of towels. A little on the pricey side, but a great location close to Rocky Mountains National Park. I'd love to stay here again. The restaurants in Estes Park are not very good, so $50 spent at Safeway bought my wife and I enough provisions for two breakfasts and one dinner. read more

The place is peaceful and quiet. Hardly anyone around and the wildlife walked all around. Walking up to my cabin I saw deer, rabbits, chipmunks, bald eagle, and a bobcat all in one day. Rooms are clean and lots of space with a full kitchen. I most definitely will be staying here again when I come back to the Rocky Mountains. read more

My wife and I came from Texas for our honeymoon. We found Solitude cabins online. The website looked great so we made reservations. When we arrived we realized that this was the best decision we made. The cabins are fabulous and the service is excellent. We stayed a week and it feels like home. Extremely clean and neat. I would and will recommend Solitude Cabins to everyone. There are a large amount places to stay in Estes but this will be the only one we use in the future. Spent a weekend here on a family vacation. It was fabulous! The cabin was absolutely gorgeous, impeccably clean and decorated for a comfortable rustic yet homey feel. The cabin had 2 king sized beds, a pull-out couch in the living room, 2 full baths (one with jacuzzi tub), an awesome propane grill on the patio, a gas fireplace, laundry, and every kitchen appliance and dish you can imagine. My family loves to cook and we could not get over how wonderfully equipped the kitchen was, with everything from and immersion blender, food processor, crock pot, to even a slap chop and an amazing collection of flatware and serving dishes. The cabins they have are all pretty close together, so I don't know about solitude, but we didn't have any problems with noise. The property is really conveniently located right outside of the downtown Estes Park area, and just a few minutes from Rocky Mountain National Park. It's just a stone's throw from a small lake. My only minor complaints were that 1, the jacuzzi tub spewed weird black particles (lots of them), and 2 you have to make a reservation to use the hot tub. Otherwise, it was just wonderful, and we all highly recommend the place. read more

Our family all stayed at Solitude for our recent wedding in Estes, and everyone really enjoyed the experience! The cabins are spacious and very comfortable at a reasonable price, and Kay and Steve were very helpful and kind throughout the entire process. We recently hosted a family reunion at Solitude. Due to the nature of a big family event we had some shifting of attendees and therefore number of needed cabins. Ultimately we didn't need a couple of the cabins we had reserved. Some of the deposit money from the cabins we let go of was refunded and some of it applied to the cabins we were keeping. Although the cabins were all being paid with one credit card, each cabins' charge and refund was charged to the credit card company separately. This created some confusion for me as to what had been paid, and what was still owed. I called and spoke with Kay three weeks before our arrival to make sure I understood the charges and exactly what we still owed. I found doing this with Kay to be quite challenging although we did come up with a number that we both agreed was correct. Unfortunately, during our stay when I went it to sign the credit card receipts they did not add up to the agreed amount. In fact they were significantly more! Frustrating! Kay pulled me out of our main family event to discuss the payment issue with her. We had rented their pavilion, so I was onsite. During this discussion I was scolded for being angry that the bill was not what we had agreed upon, Kay made a very big fuss because I had discarded the credit card slips I was contesting, she insinuated that I was lying to her about the whereabouts of another family member, in addition to being generally condescending. As you might imagine this interaction with Kay put a huge damper on the family event for myself and a number of my family members. On Kay's notes from the day of our conversation three weeks earlier, she had the amount we had agreed upon circled with the word DUE next to it. Yet, she was unable to explain why she was charging us more. I had to figure that out on my own after I had returned home and had access to the credit card statements. What I didn't know and what Kay had been unable to explain to me was that Kay had refunded some of the deposit money a few days after our conversation effectively negating the agreed upon amount due on arrival. There are great places to stay in Estes where agreements are kept, you are treated with respect and there accounting staff can have an intelligent conversation with you about your bill. I would suggest you look elsewhere for your accommodations! read more

Our stay at Solitude cabins was so cozy and comfortable. Check-in and check-out was a breeze, the booking process was so easy, and the cleanliness and amenities were wonderful. The cabin was ready and warm when we stepped in, and we had a wonderful nights sleep on the comfortable beds. The owner was so generous in comping our stay because my husband is a Federal employee out of work while the government is shut down. This was our second stay here so we knew, more or less, what to expect. Cabin was very clean and nice. We were delayed in checking in due to the cabin still being cleaned but that was no big deal. Cabin was extremely clean and taken cared for. Overall the complex was very empty and quiet. All cabins are pretty much laid out the same and well stocked. Our only complaints were A) the beds were pretty hard (as were the pillows) and B) the furnace sounded like a jet airplane. I can't say enough good things about this place. Me, my husband, my best friend, and her husband came up from Oklahoma for the weekend and stayed here in Estes Park. The cabin was clean and homey. They had everything you needed aside from food, and the atmosphere of the park was just overall wonderful. The service is amazing! Kay was so kind to us. She's just genuinely sweet. I will 100% make this an annual thing. Oh and pricing is perfect. Especially if you compare prices to surrounding areas, this is grades above it all. read more

Unfortunately a horrible experience. The cabin was stifling hot, no air conditioning and construction all around the property. There was no access to any amenities, no fire pit, no where to walk. Because my husband was disabled (hard of hearing) we were placed in a west facing cabin and no one in our party could function because it was so hot. A huge waste of money. WOW. Was my first reaction as soon as I walked into the cabin I reserved for the weekend with my girlfriend and her family. I did some pretty heavy research on this place and had seen a lot of the pictures. But they just don't seem to do these cabins justice. We walked in tired and drained from an uneventful 17 hour drive and the cabin just floored us. All of a sudden we were running around in amazement at how beautiful the accommodations were! It doesn't get much better than this, and next time we visit Estes park we WILL be going back to solitude cabins. What a great experience. read more
