They leave a lot of good items in the rooms so you can save some money when you go grocery shopping. Things like dish soap, silverware/dishes, ice, laundry detergent and a few other things were available for us. If you do late check in they will leave a map out for you to find your room which was great for my extremely delayed flight arrival (some cabins don't have room numbers marked so it would be impossible without their maps). The front desk was very pleasant and answered all questions I had. Additionally it never felt too busy at any time of the day; it was extremely relaxing.

The next day the pool was shocking people if they used the metal stairs. It was closed the remaining days. So closed 4 out of 5 days. When we contacted mgmt about it, they said it was only one day. And refused a refund. Or discount. Or an explanation. It was 4 days. And they were digging up concrete. not usable. You get zero maid service. And when I brought in towels to exchange I was questioned about how many we needed. We have stayed here every 3 years for the last 15 years. We thought there might be better service with privately owned Cabins. But the difference was having to wear wrist bands For a pool we could not use. Very disappointing. Not going there again. The dishes were chipped and the pans were so filthy they were unusable. The grounds were "natural" meaning looking very unkempt, weedy and walking was a minefield between cabins of holes. Our room was ready early and very welcoming upon arrival. Area is quiet and the grounds are very clean. Highly recommend these condos and will absolutely return. I was bummed because I thought our condo was on the river but we were on the opposite side. Next time I will call to make sure its on the river. Highly recommend Beaver Brook on the River!! Nice touches with working fireplaces, 1 free bundle of firewood, variety of games and dvds to choose from, and fairly ample kitchenette offerings including a mini-stove, full sink and place settings. Restaurant choices across the street. Cons: this place is TIRED. Everything is run-down and dingey from the raggedy bedspreads to the broken kitchenette drawers, to the shower handle that fell off when we went to turn it on. Outside lawn chairs were moldy and crusty - uninviting. Curtains were dusty with gnats stuck to them. The children's mini-playground area - which could've otherwise been such a nice touch - was littered with dog poo and other debris from apparently months of neglect. If the rental charge were more appropriate for this low-level of accommodation, like $75-$100, I might give more stars. But $200? Uh no.

Pros are the great location close to so many amenities such as restaurants and stores, very quaint appearance, dogs allowed, wood burning fireplace, parking right outside your unit's door, easy self check-in, and how quiet it is even though it's off a fairly busy street. This place has tons of potential. Cons are a general lack of maintenance including a broken bar in the sleeper sofa that didn't support any weight and collapsed, unusable very disgusting cooking pans, dirty oven, and a general lack of cleanliness. For example under the chair cushions were years of dust and a variety of objects like socks, loose change, hair ties, etc. Tons of dirt under the sofa and bed, the fireplace glass screen was so dirty you couldn't see the fire so we cleaned it ourselves, all the dishes were filthy, lots of loose hair in the bathroom, etc. You get the idea. Housekeeping leaves a lot to be desired. We love rustic but these cottages cross the line into decrepit compared to other places we've stayed. They are in need of some refurbishment and replacement of furniture and household items.

We loved having the kitchen and fridge to store some snacks. The owner sent us restaurant recommendations as well and helped us via text with our late check in. We really enjoyed having the hot tub in the room. The bed was super comfy and the linens and towels were plush and soft. I loved the heated towel rack next to hot tub so you were super warm getting out of the tub. Having a fire place was nice to fall asleep to. We love the Lazy R cottages and have been staying here since the 90's. The cabins are conveniently…read morelocated with a store, laundry mat and liquor store just across the street. There are other businesses and restaurants nearby too. Downtown Estes is not far either. Check in was easy and convenient. The cabins are well kept and very clean. The beds are comfortable and the towels and lines are nice and plush. If you have a cabin with a hot tub, you get plenty of towels for those dips in the hot tub. We stay in Cabin 15 or the other one just like it (can't remember the cabin #). My only issue and its not a big one, is that the cabin isn't really conducive to just hanging out in because there is really a lack of seating in the livingroom if you have a few people staying. The living room has a couch with a sofa sleeper so its not really comfortable to sit on and can seat 3 people. There is a chair with a pull out bed in it that is also not too comfortable and then there's a cute wood chair that's heavy and uncomfortable. The living room could use at least one more chair that isn't a wood chair.

The cabin was clean and well stocked for a rental cabin. Nicely stocked kitchen supplies (pots/pans, utensils, etc). They supplied coffee with sugar and creamers (though we brought our own), towels, TP, paper towels, shampoo, etc. Though they don't provide maid service they had a very easy system to use to order additional TP, towels, coffee, etc. I was really impressed with how well supplied it was. No AC, but the cabin cooled off in the evening with the windows open and we slept great! Cabin 2 has a covered porch that we spent almost all our cabin time on. When we weren't out and about, we were on the porch. The cabin sleeps 5, but it would be tight. For the 2 of us, it was plenty of room. Really enjoyed our stay and would definitely rent at Lazy R again if we return to Estes Park.
