**June 2025: Thursday Morning Visit** When I think of Wyoming I think of a "home where the buffalo roam" so naturally when I found out that you can actually feed these fluffy cows I was all for it. The Terry Bison Ranch Resort was one of the highlighted attractions on the Wyoming Visitor Website so I did some further research and found a Groupon Deal for $12.35 which gave entry for two adults. I think it's otherwise $20 an adult. The "resort" is a very generous adjective to describe the zoo. There are horses, chicken, ostriches, llamas, and a few other animals, but I didn't feel that they wow'd me as a main attraction. The area was spacious, but everything was pretty outdated and needed a new paint job. Nevertheless, my friend and I were there for the bison. When we arrived we checked in at the gift shop and also bought feed for $10 a bag. I think they're really big grass pellets that they enjoy as a snack. We each got a bag so that we had ample treats to entice the creatures. There are a couple of departure times: 9:00AM, 10:30AM, 12:00PM, 1:30PM, 3:00PM, 4:30PM, 6:00PM, so we made sure to arrive at least a half hour before the 10:30 time so we could secure a spot. The train is pretty old and rundown, but it's elevated so we're at a height advantage when interacting with the bison. We rode the train for 3 minutes or so and saw many prairie dogs and finally got to see the adult and baby bisons! They have long tongues and are super gentle when they take the pellets out of your hand. I don't know about you but feeding these fluffy cows was such a cool experience I guess because it's such a unique experience. I highly doubt that I'l have an opportunity to do something like this in California, so if you're visiting Cheyenne or Denver this is definitely something cool to do!

This is a working bison ranch/feedlot with an included activity area and RV camping. I expected it to be cheesy, and it is, but it's also a nice 2-3 hour trip from Denver area to spend time under wide skies and enjoy the plains. It's a little run-down (the patter from the train engineer/tour guide mentions a number of failures and mishaps) and it costs $10 extra to buy a small bag of bison cookies. But certainly feeding the bison from the train is a treat for adults and children. Buy souvenirs and bison meat at the trading post, take a horseback ride, or book your wedding in the tiny chapel. Accessibility is not a priority--there's no accessible toilet but I was able to squeeze into a regular stall. Because it wasn't crowded on this weekday, I was able to park very close to the ramp leading to the train. I enjoyed my day here.

Train is slow and loud but the bison make up for it. Lots of flies but that is to be expected because of the amount of animals. Did not try the food but I will definitely come back to try it. Lots of fun over all.

An amazing place just right off the highway on the border of Wyoming in Colorado. I stayed at one of the lodges, which was quite nice. Took the buffalo tour shopped at the gift shop at eight at the steakhouse. Love this place fact anything that has to do with buffaloes is a great place. If you need a quick break or just time to stretch your legs, stop here at Terry's bison Ranch

It was a fun ride on the train. The train operator was friendly and funny. We got to feed the bison and learn about the nearby area.

Terry Bison Ranch is a 5-star experience, you've got to check it out! A special thanks to our train operator and tour guide Mac "not the rapper" Miller...took us around the loop to interact with the bison. You will get your money's worth as you're allowed to feed and photograph the bison during the one stop during the train ride. Afterwards, walked around the premises, checked out the trading post, got to see the horses and llamas, and had lunch at Senator Saloon. A MUST-SEE attraction in southeast Wyoming!

My kid loves animals so during our first trip to Wyoming we thought a trip to Terry Bison Ranch would be nice. Since it was a holiday weekend it was pretty packed so the staff was pretty busy. I wouldn't say they were personable but some customers were short and not too nice so I wouldn't expect them to be super happy for a whole day of that. We did the train ride and it was slow and nice for photos. I bought a bag of bison feed which is $10 bucks to have my kid feed the bison. It was worth it just for the photo ops but I couldn't get the bison to eat all my cake. The train guide was a nice older gentleman. Definitely leave him a tip. But the true star of our visit was speaking with Chance. That man was so nice. I also suggest walking around the grounds. You can see some ponies and chickens. There was a random peacock walking around. This is a fun place and I'm happy we visited. Be kind to staff! They were working hard and a lot of folks come through.

Vibe: Recommendation for area Travel: Easy to get to/off I25 at CO line Price: $20 or Groupon $10 (Mothers Day special cost me $7.50) Parking: plenty gravel spaces I saw a metal/wood bison on a hill at the CO/WY line and was fascinated. Then when I asked Google what to do in Cheyenne, this place was mentioned. A quick trip to YELP and this became a necessity!

This was such a great experience so close to these huge bison feeding them too! Such a great place to explore. Wish they had more food options other than the food truck but the store had such cool unique merchandising. The cow in the hay is my favorite

Five stars over and over - this place is so darn cool and our Bison train tour guide, Caleb, was absolutely wonderful! It probably helped that we came in their off season (December) so we were the only ones on the tour and got a private tour. :) Upon arrival, you go into the trading post to buy your tickets. The trading post is filled with lots of fun merchandise to look at and two amazing, friendly indoor cats! The bison train tour lasts just under an hour and you spend time getting up close and personal to feed the bison. They are such large, mesmerizing creatures and Caleb knew so much about them. It was such a nice tour having him there to answer all of our questions! There are also peacocks, an ostrich, and lots of other animals you can see along the way. An added bonus was the super friendly, adorable barn cats! Loved this place so much and would highly, highly recommend for anyone visiting the area!!

The good was we got to feed bison. It seemed like the ranch needs lots of work and updates but overall they were busy and people kept coming and giving them their money. For two of us it was $40 plus $10 a vag for feed, for a 45min brain racketing train ride to the bison and back. It was for sure interesting. Quite an experience!

This place is interesting for sure especially if you like big animals like bison. They also have a variety of other animals. We saw an ostrich, peacocks, horses, cows, turkeys , cats, chickens and of course the bison! We bought a bag of bison food for 5 bucks and our train ticket in the general store. The bag of food had plenty for two people to share. We waited for about a half hour before our tour left. The staff was handing out floats and popcorn. That was a nice touch! The train ride was a herky jerky experience that I loved. Our guide made several jokes and mixed in a lot of facts about the area and the farm. After cruising around a bit you will wind up at the field where the bison are. It really did blow my mind! Although you are on the train when you are feeding them there is times when you touch them a little. That was definitely not in my bingo card! I was in awe and the guide gave us plenty of time. It is a farm so it definitely smells like one. Definitely worth checking out.

BUFFALO

Absolutely terrible experience. We paid over $100 for my family and I to do the train riding experience. After waiting for over 20 minutes past the scheduled pickup time, an employee finally informed us that the train had derailed, which is apparently a common occurrence according to that same employee, he mentioned that we were able to ride a bus, but it would be AT LEAST another 20-25 minutes for that to arrive. Other families and mine were all obviously disappointed and wanted to get refunds. That's where my real displeasure comes from. The lady who was beginning to handle the transactions for refunds began to yell very rudely towards all of us looking for a refund. Stating something along the lines of, "I'm only allowed to do certain refunds! If you have this kind of receipt, you just have to wait over here!" Which is entirely fair on that end. But yelling with such a tone that makes dad's, boyfriends, and older brothers step away from the store and surrounding area before saying something that would be regrettable. However, the reason why this place is getting two stars is because of everything else. Very funny magnets, a great selection of food from the nearby food truck, and other fun activities that were free. Due to the circumstances, I can understand having a bad day, but there is no need to point that unhappiness towards guests that are looking to spend money towards your business. The Buffalo was pretty darned cool, thats's the attached image.

Your dogs are most welcome, your pets must be on leash and you have to clean up after them. You can even bring your pets on train just as long as they will not bark at bison or misbehave.

How far is the walk from the RV park to the restaurant? Can an elderly person walk there or would you need to drive? We were hoping to not have to unhook the RV staying just one night.

FIVE STARS goes to the Cherokee Park Ranch / Dude Ranch in Livermore, CO. This is my 500th review…read moreon Yelp, and I dedicate this review to a place that has positively changed my life forever! Cherokee Park Ranch is AMAZING! The ranch has a fascinating history and is known as one of the first guest ranches in Colorado. During the late 1880's it was a colorful stage coach stop between Fort Collins, Colorado and Laramie, Wyoming. Incoming guests had to chance Indian confrontations and the rates were only $8.00 per week! Now Indian hostilities are nonexistent but the Western character of the ranch remains. The park is owned by the Prince family - Dick, Christine, Thomas, Elise, Townsend, and Emily Prince. The property boasts over 10 guest cabins, a swimming pool, about 125 horses, and an AMAZING staff! Typically, guests make week-long reservations for a true vacation on the ranch. They plan a ful schedule for you everyday and offer options for you to choose, ranging from: Horseback riding, Skeet shooting, Nature Walks, Fly Fishing, Painting Lessons, White Water Rafting, Rodeos, Rock Climbing, Country Western Dancing Lessons, Mountain Biking, swimming in the pool, billiards, and much much more. I have to say, that owners Christine and Dickie go above and beyond the call of duty for ensuring that their guests have a fun and safe time while at their ranch. EVERY aspect of hospitality is considered and well executed at this ranch! All 25+ members of their employees work super hard to ensure a great experience at the ranch. We had 50 guests in our group/cohort - ranging from 2 - 80. Here's my highlight of my vacation: Horseback riding: The ranch owns over 125 horses (NO leased horses) and offers half day or all day rides every day. The ranch welcomes ALL ability riders from never-touched-a-horse to born in the saddle. I went horseback riding 6 of the 7 days that I spent at the ranch. Each of the rides were original, and showed off the beautiful landscape of the Colorado waters, meadows, mountains, and scenery. The ranch offers short morning and afternoon rides (2 -3 hours, your choice) or an all-day ride (approximately 6 hours). I opted for the all day rides and was AMAZED with the nice trails that the ranch had chosen for their guests. Guests can choose from walking rides, to trotting (where the horse does a bit of a prance), to Loping (actual gallup). Cherokee Park Ranch is one of the few ranches in Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah that offer Loping riding (because of liability reasons). The wranglers at the ranch gave me lessons, so I went from a walk-only kind of rider to Lopoing the meadows of the Colorado mountains! Extra kudos go to my two favorite wranglers - Jordan (North Carolina) and Olivia (Virginia?) - you both made it a wonderful trip! LOVE IT! Every meal is inclued in the cost of your stay. The ranch hired Chuck from Tennessee to be the head chef this summer. Chuck owned several restaurants in TN and cooked up some amazing meals including: Fall off the bone beef ribs, bacon wrapped fillet mignon, baked salmon, chicken pot pie, & beef pot roast. One of my favorites were the home-made chocolate creme brulee and snickerdoodle cookes (and brownies, Colorado chocolate snaps, lemon bars). Amazing food, amazing wait staff. The food was so good here, I wanted to slap my grandma! Guest Rodeo: At the end of the week, all guests are required to showcase their horse-riding skills by competing in home-ranch rodeo. All 50 guests line up to do barrel racing, pole bending, and keyhole riding (all at your own speed). Both kids and adults participate and cheered on by all members of the staff! The ranch times you and hands out 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons at the end of the week. SUPER FUN! They even include a pie eating contest and a boot run (where everyone contributes one boot to the pile and has to run to put it on and cross the finish line). SUPER FUN! What I especially liked about this ranch was that they warmly welcomed children. This is perhaps the only ranch in Colorado where they have kids programs all day long. There are three staff members assigned to help entertain the children while the adults go off and enjoy the day. Activities include riding "Rodney" who is a 27 year old miniature horse (ages 2-5), arts and crafts (horseshoe painting, bead making, tiedye, etc), sleeping over night in a kid's-only slumber party in a HUGE Teepee, horseback riding (ages 6-12), nature walks, and much more. The ranch setting uniquely has no electronic interruptions - so leave your cell phones and computers at home. You won't need them here! To the owners, Christine and Dickie - you have an AMAZING thing going on here! No wonder 86% of your guests are return customers! You and your staff work hard to not only provide a great vacation, but to also change people's lives. Thank you! Service Grade: A+ Food Grade: A Worth The Money Grade: A+ Overall Impression: A+!

Unfortunately, and to my surprise, I only received 50% of my total back. On the 7th day I had cancelled on Expedia because I booked through there and I also called the office to confirm that I would be getting 100% back. The person that I spoke to was very rude, told me she would call me back then hung up before confirming my phone number. I gave her 30 minutes and called back. She again was very short with me and told me she would call me back. Never did. This happened to be Christmas Eve so I didn't call back again until December, 26th. When I did, I spoke with another woman who was kind and listened and said she would call me back. She did not. In the meantime, I emailed Beaver Meadows own email address as well as messaged them through Expedia and heard nothing back. Today, Monday December 29th I called back and spoke to a woman who said now the reason I am not getting my money back is because I am within the 30 days however, my trip arrival date was January 30, 2026 and I initiated this cancellation on December 24th. She also told me to email Beaver Meadows owners through the info email which I already did, twice. She told me they did not see an email from me so I should do it again so this would be my 3rd time emailing them. Their policies are not clear. It's too bad that this place is so greedy that they can't just give people back the money that is owed to them. There aren't even other hotels around so by the end of January they probably will have it rebooked. The thing is, I would have rebooked at the same hotel potentially because the event (pond hockey tournament) is nearby and may still happen. However, now I won't book with them ever again and I will be sure to tell all my friends going to the pond hockey tournament down the street that they should be hesitant as well. Save yourself an attitude, book in Fort Collins and drive to the pond hockey tournament.

Lodging: we chose the Aspen cabin since it was just the two of us. I loved everything about it, other then the number of stairs to and from the main ranch: the decor, very comfy bed (although we were pretty tired after all of our daily activities!), having my very own fireplace, and the view! Food: Waaay above my expectations. Honestly, I was blown away with the cuisine - both the taste and the amount of choices per meal. Chef Cory was very personable and came to the table daily asking for feedback. He also had an awesome mustache face mask to respect social distancing while he was walking table to table. Horses: I mean why else do you think I chose this place?!? Amy and Tammy choose a horse for you based on your skill and comfort level with horses and if you are happy with your horse, you get to keep that horse all week. The herd is over 200 horses so there is definitely one to fit your experience level. My horse was Gypsy and she was a dream! She was super responsive and loved to lope the trails. People: Wranglers: they get in early and jingle the horses to the barn every morning around 6:15...definitely worth getting up to see! They are all very experienced riders and not only guide you on your trail rides, but will help hone your skills and answer questions about horses, the property, etc along the way. Everyone was awesome, but a special shout out to Abby and Halsey for taking us on an all day ride, and fixing my saddle bag for me when it fell off. Walker, Maggie, and Haylei were awesome and made every trail a blast. I feel like I am a way better rider now because of all of them. Servers: The servers are all very nice and ensure you are enjoying every meal. This year, due to COVID, we ate meals outside by the pool, and the servers did a great job of getting food out to you quickly and making sure you had everything you need. Grace was such a sweetheart and we saw her at almost every meal. Thanks for being the best wine pourer we could have asked for. Ranch hands: there are quite a few ranch hands on the property doing all of the odds and ends jobs, including guiding activities. Cooper was very helpful in coaching us through archery, BB guns, skeet shooting, and he managed to not laugh at our epic failure throwing hatchets. They also do a night of branding so bring your leather belts and boots for them to put a C Lazy U brand on. Management: great management team here. Dave, the GM, walked around during meals asking for feedback. Paul and Scott, two of the assistant GM's, made cowboy coffee over a campfire in the mornings and went above and beyond to make sure you were having fun. Paul also MC'ed the Shodeo, which was an absolute blast. Activities: The river that runs through the property and the pond by the main building were both great for fishing. The spa was excellent and the tent I was in had a glass floor to look down and see the river during the massage. Kids - although we don't have kids, the ability to have a group of trusted counselors take care of the little ones while the adults had fun was very impressive! All in all, highly recommend this ranch to anyone ready to have a good time. The ranch was beautiful and the people were friendly. We will definitely be coming back!

First of all, their marketing is not transparent. Their website says $550 a month and when I called a couple weeks before actually booking to check for availability, the customer service agent failed to mention there would be a $150 deposit to go towards electricity and sewage until we actually booked the stay. It was annoying but not the biggest deal to us. Just worth noting. The park itself was fine and well-kept. The spaces are very tight so our neighbors' sewage line was right outside our front door. I'm unsure if they had premium spots with more space, we paid for a standard site. The staff was friendly. Our problems started when we left though. We stayed a month and left a day early on 05/24. Called the front office to let them know we were leaving a day early so they could do the meter reading for electricity. We received an invoice later that day. It included electricity, tax, sewage, and an extra day's rent. The rent charge was incorrect as we had paid through 05/25. Called the next day, on 05/25, and they said they would submit an email to have it corrected and someone would call me back. On 05/28, I received another invoice, which included a late fee this time. They charged our card unauthorized as we were actively disputing the charges and we received a receipt on 05/28 for $50.99. No exaggeration, 7 minutes after they charged that, they sent ANOTHER invoice for $35.91 for "fees" and "other." We found out they had charged that amount when we checked our bank statements, they never even sent a receipt for that one. We called multiple times and no one could help us beyond sending an email. The front office never returned our multiple voicemails. They admitted the charges were incorrect, but handled refunding us very nonchalantly. After about a week and a half of this, we involved our bank. I called RJourney a day or two after that to inform them that I was disputing the charges through our bank but would still prefer to resolve through the company. Wouldn't you know, the very next day our bank sent us a letter saying the dispute was resolved in our favor and we got our refund. Maybe it's a coincidence, but it seemed very scammy that we didn't get our refund until the day after we called to tell them we'd involved our bank. Still, no one from the park has contacted us back. We found out about the refund from our bank. As proof, instead of attaching the multiple invoices/receipts, I've attached the copy of our dispute letter from our bank. Will not be giving RJourney our business again in the future and wouldn't recommend it to anyone else. Mistakes happen, but they should be handled diligently and with profuse apologies.

Plus all the showers, the finish is coming off. The picnic tables look like they will break easily. Best thing to do around here... check out the trucker stop. Keep driving folks!

First the good: They have great communication and check-in and check-out process is very smooth…read more For families, this is a great place to stay. They have adjoining rooms and those are newer and in a more quiet area of the property. Their continental breakfast is pretty good. They have free movie popcorn and DVD rentals. They also have a pool and hot tub but we have never used them. They also have a small playground. Again, it's great for families. We have been to Murphy's with kids/teens a few times and it's been pretty good. Close to gear rental (Estes Park Mountain Shop) and close to the main grocery store: Safeway. Also close to McDonald's, Starbucks, Subway and Jimmy John's. Also near the Estes Park Visitors Center. Further from RMNP (about 25-30 minutes) The bad: I decided to book this place for an Anniversary and that was a huge mistake. First, I booked through their website instead of Booking.com since that is better for their business.. I put in the special instructions that we wanted their best King Room for our anniversary. Rates were high despite it being a slow weekend and on booking.com they had lots of open king rooms. We ended up in one of their older rooms which faced the main road. Bathroom sink didn't drain, found hair on the sink. After flushing toilet, it would continue to run. The bed was too soft and hurt our backs. The back of our place faced a busy road. Lots of noise between the walls with the neighbors next door and kids running and screaming outside. Also, their internet was sooo SLOW. If you are coming here to do any work, forget it. We had terrible service most of the time. Wasn't able to use any apps like Netflix, Disney + etc. Pretty old school TV's. For the price we paid, it wasn't worthy of the rate and I wished we had gone somewhere else for a great couple experience. Again, for families, this place is awesome, for couples, I would look elsewhere.

I love staying at Murphy's in the Winter. The hot tub is my favorite! The staff is very kind and I…read morelove the massive DVD collection and free popcorn. They also offer a great variety of rooms.

We got a coupon off Livingsocial and decided to take a weekend getaway in the mountain. Eddie…read more(spelling?) and her family manage the property. When I called the lodge, she had to walk to the office to take my reservation (since the whole property is only run by 2-3 people and often she is somewhere else other than the office). The booking was not that hard over the phone but make sure you speak slowly and clearly when you give her any info invovling numbers :D The check-in time is 3pm and check out time is 10am but you can call ahead to check in or check out at an earlier or later time. Upon arrival, Eddie and her daughter greeted us warmly. We were told since the room we originally booked had some plumbing issues we got upgraded to a better room. Yay! The new room is bigger and has a fire place. Eddie took us on a mini tour to see the other lodges on the property as well since each one has a different theme and they are actually quite funky. The lodge we stayed at was small but had adequate space. The kitchen has everything you need except spices and seasonings. There are lodges that can accommodate pets so just ask. We hiked a bit (since the lodge is pretty close to Rocky Mountain National Park. We also went to Hot Sulfur Springs at night (check out my review here http://www.yelp.com/biz/hot-sulphur-springs-resort-and-spa-hot-sulphur-springs#hrid:olYd01SdW95whyRPgZKegg) I like the fact that the lodge is close to those two things. You can probably also ski and ride horses around the area too. Just a note, before you check out, you need to take out the trash and clean the room otherwise they will fine you $25.

I'm really trying to turn the other cheek and be gracious with this review. I will start with the…read more PROS: Great view, nice walking Trail, nice back yard. CONs: NOT little KID Friendly! The dishes are not locked up and are very accessible to little children, door didn't lock and kept blowing open throughout the night. Kids easily could run out or dogs! I had black hair in my sheets. The water pressure is a trickle making showering unenjoyable and dishes very hard to clean! YOU ARE EXPECTED TO CLEAN YOUR DISHES AND ROOM before checkout, we got passive aggressive comments from SUE because I'm the WIFE and left six dishes in the sink! IT WAS MY JOB to clean them! I didn't know, there were no signs! NOW THE BIGGEST CON of all! Passive aggressive property manager! DO NOT STAY here!!! SPEND YOUR MONEY on a airbnb that deserves it! They didn't even ask us to leave but threatened to call the COPs if we didn't leave in 5 minutes in front of my toddler and infant child! I am still in SHOCK! I would like to laugh and JOKE I HAVE BEEN KICKED OUT OF NICER PLACES THEN THIS! Let me start by saying we are not criminals, we don't drink excessively and are a pretty nice clean family. After trying to coordinate a room change ALL DAY with SUE, she finally gave us 20min to switch rooms so I left the six dishes and didn't vacuum. I was honestly concerned about her turn around time! The kiddos had spilled some animal crackers on the floor but nothing a quick vacuum wouldn't fix! NOW she DID NOT TURN OVER a Room Properly! It takes more then twenty minutes to properly clean a kitchen, bedroom and bath with linens, I was a maid for years! INDUSTRY STANDARDS would say all linens need to be striped and changed. Surfaces disinfected esp. with COVID! Vacuum and mop! You would have thought we left shit In the toilet, vomit on the floor and a blown up burrito in the microwave! (ALL of WHICH I HAVE GRACIOUSLY CLEANED IN MY DAY!). So I DO THINK THE DISHES ARE NOT PROPERLY WASHED, THE BLANKETS DO NOT GET WASHED BETWEEN GUESTS AND NO MOPPING. I hope SUE gets out of the hospitality business! She thought my two year olds graham cracker floor mess was PERSONAL and it wasn't! We did leave a NORMAL mess, WE WERE ON VACATION! STAY ELSEWHERE! They kicked out our little sweet family, to fend for ourselves with 1-70 closed and the pass closed. REALLY!
