    Otis the horse

This was by far one of my favorite memories and experiences I've ever had on vacation. The guides are so nice and I loved talking to them, and the horses were great (love you Otis). Shout out to Logan ( and Waldo), he made the experience 10/10 with all his fun facts and humor.

Glacier Basin ride was absolutely beautiful. Though I've been on a horse a few times before, I'm totally a beginner and was very pleased by how nicely we were received. Our wrangler Logan did an excellent job of maintaining a good pace for the entire group and peppering fun facts and bits of history between periods of quiet so we could take in the views. I found the ride to be very easy and would encourage anyone of any level to give it a try.

What an incredible place! Our family went on a three hour ride with Emma this summer. She is fantastic wrangler!! Her knowledge of the YMCA, Jackson Stables, RMNP, the trails, and the horses was great. Emma loves what she is doing and it made the trip really exciting and fun for our family.

I took my granddaughters out for a horseback ride today for a mountain adventure before they head back to school. We headed to Estes from Denver and it started raining when we got there. We were kinda bummed thinking our ride may be canceled, but luckily it wasn't. And riding in the rain was actually kinda fun! I loved this ride, through glacier basin. So beautiful and we even saw some deer. This is my best ride so far!! Definitely will do it again!!

My husband and I had such a great time horseback riding here. I highly recommend checking this place out sometime! The staff, especially our guide Hayden, was awesome and the views of RMNP were beautiful.

While in Colorado I wanted to relive my glory days as a 10 year old and go horseback riding through Rocky Mountain National Parks, just as I did a million years ago. We were staying in a YMCA cabin, so the location of Jackson's Stables was really convenient. We were scheduled for a 2 hour ride in the early afternoon so we paid for our rides ($60 a piece) and were directed to the waiting area to pick a helmet. Helmets are optional FYI, but if I don't know the horse and area I'm not risking life and limb. I was given a great horse, Diesel. He was super mellow, maybe a little slow but a sweetheart. My boyfriend, the one with no riding experience got Tank, the horse with an independent streak. At one point, he decided he wanted to go off the trail to go where he wanted to eat. Poor wrangler had to jump off his horse and run to the back where we were. I thought it was hilarious, the boyfriend not so much. The ride was beautiful and just as I expected. Unfortunately we saw like literally no wildlife, but maybe it was better not to spook the horses. From past experience riding near a mountain lion, I wasn't too bummed. There was a fair amount of trotting during the run, so if you're unaccustomed to riding remember: BUTT OFF THE SADDLE. Otherwise, you'll be hurting the next day. If you're looking to be one with nature and experience some incredible views a horseback ride at Jackson's Stables will fit the bill.

Our Wrangler Delaney was absolutely amazing and kept us entertained the entire time! Jackson's takes very good care of their animals and their guests, we all had a fantastic time. I highly recommend!

My husband and I had a wonderful time this morning on the 4 hour ride with Ashley. The weather was perfect, the view was indescribable, the horses well taken care of, and our wrangler was so sweet and fun to ride with. A must do for anyone who wants to experience the Rockies from a different perspective!

I ended up booking it because I forgot to get a timed entry pass to the park and this is one way to do it. I'm glad I watched the intro video to RMNP on their main page, otherwise, I never would have had this amazing experience with my 6-year-old. That's the minimum age for the horse rides and we did the 2-hour ride. I booked the 9:20 am. Allow yourself more time than you think you need to get there and get in the park. We arrived just a few minutes after 9 and the stables did call to ask us our ETA probably because a lot of people get stuck at the gate. As long as you follow the directions on their website, it's really easy to find. I'm glad I printed them out because the reception is really spotty once you get past the gates. We checked in by signing some waivers, used the clean restrooms, picked out our helmets, and we were matched to our horses. My son was the only "kid" in our group of 6 guests and he was matched last to a kid-friendly horse, Ace. My horse was Bandit and he was awesome, even though he loved to go off-roading. The ride was beautiful, our guide Olivia Mendoza, was amazing and so patient with my son who basically talked her ear off the entire 2 hours (I'm sorry!). Olivia was patient, would check up on all of us, didn't make us feel rushed, and made sure everyone was comfortable. We did the ride on our second day in Colorado in and it's a great way to see parts of the park you probably wouldn't unless you did some hiking, which I couldn't do with a 6-year-old. You go over a couple of little creeks which is fun, you go uphill and down and it was really relaxing. I would say 2 hours is a perfect amount of time, because my booty probably couldn't handle another hour. We had so much fun and all the staff were so nice and really sweet and friendly. Please book a tour with them, it's a great and easy way to get into the park (you get the timed+ entry to get to Bear Lake!) and the ride is fun and so beautiful. Thank you Hi Country Stables for making my son's first real horseback ride so memorable!!

I called three times and also sent an email, but got no response. Our reservation was for October 17th at 11:00 a.m. however it was 11:40 before I sat on a horse. Apparently there were quite a few Mix-Ups where the guides did not know they were 2-hour reservations, one hour reservations and a private tour all waiting to go out at the same time. The one guide who said his name was Nate introduced himself but kept walking back to the office without any explanation for the delay. All he would have had to say was "gosh folks sorry for the delay will be with you in a moment" or something equally as vague to acknowledge our presence and the time ticking away. When we finally did get on horses that seemed to be randomly chosen, the young man leading our group never spoke a word. He never small talked, he never introduced himself he never offered to take photos, or ask if we had any horse experience. The only thing I heard him say was to tell one guest to "kick her harder" after one of the horses was stopped on the trail. The ride itself was okay, but only okay as we seemed to just do zigzags through the woods behind the barn. I really wanted it to get better as my friend and I were very excited about being on horses in the mountains. The very end was when the young man held my horse while I dismounted and asked me if it was too dusty being at the end of the trail, when I told him it was okay his reply was "I hate it, I hate all of it" then he led my horse away and that was the end. We only ended up being on the horses about an hour and 20 minutes even though we had paid for a 2-hour ride, but by then then we were so frustrated, as it seemed so many guests were, we just went to the car and left. Overall we felt jipped out of our money but also out of our precious vacation time. The two young men who were guides could benefit from some customer service training. we were never welcomed, thanked, or really even spoken to. I wish management had called us back after leaving three messages. Maybe that's typical behavior at the very end of the season, however their website says they're open year round. I cannot recommend Elkhorn Stables based on my experience with them.

The equipment was in great shape, and even the truck used to haul the ATV and trailer to the trailhead was well-maintained--everything felt professional and dialed in. Everyone we interacted with was fantastic, and Andrew in particular was a superstar--he handled both checkout and check-in, made everything easy, and clearly cares about making sure customers have a great time. We enjoyed using the gas grill and pleased that they had plenty of pots and pans available to have a cook out. The home has a view of the river from the patio that we enjoyed. The management was very helpful and stayed in touch with us right before our arrival. On our last night there we thought to pack the truck and get everything ready to head back home at 4am the next day. We got back from Denver pretty late that evening as it started to get dark. My husband and father loaded the truck with our luggage on our luggage rack on top of our SUV. It is pitch black at night in Aspen Brook. No problem for us we didn't want to inconvenience anyone, except that its rather difficult to load a truck in the dark. Our parking spot was not next to the home it was across the road, so my husband parked the car right next to the home to finish loading the truck and get some visibility with the porch light on. As we were finishing up management called me and told me we could not park there and I told her we were just finishing up loading the truck and would move it in a few minutes, she agreed and hung up. When I got off the phone I walked over to the porch and saw an older man standing next to our truck flashing a light into the windows of the truck. When I asked him if I could help him he yelled and said I couldn't park there to which I replied that we were almost done loading and would move it asap as soon as we were done and that we had just gotten a call from property management. He screamed "what if an ambulance needs to come by"!!!?? I repeated to him again that we were almost done and would move it soon and went back inside. I tried calling management back to ask who this man was, no answer. At that point I emailed property management. I said we had no problem with the call but was it really necessary for the older guy to come yell at us and on top of that snoop/shine his light into our truck??? Its a week later and never got a response from the email I sent to property management.
