    Lobster risotto

Wow, I'm not one to give low ratings but I feel compelled to after my experience here. I really had high hopes for this restaurant after seeing posts about the food. I will say that the interior is very nice and modern. Service was quick - we did take out and our order was done right on time. When I got home and opened the takeout boxes, I was so disappointed. We got the lamb rack and the lobster risotto and the total came to $97.18. The portions were so small. The lobster risotto came in a small takeout box that was only half full. The portions for the lamb rack was small as well and looked sad in the box. The lobster risotto tasted good. That's why this didn't get a lower rating. The lamb was okay. I feel like we could make it at home for just as good or even better. Definitely not worth the $97. Overall, I was very sad after this meal. It was supposed to be dinner for a celebration. We finished everything so quickly and found ourselves searching for somewhere else to order from afterwards.

You win some and you lose some... taking a fat L . Went on a double date at Terre Rouge, food and service was average towards below average... My friend ordered a Lobster Bisque and the server was like "you know it's soup right"... I don't think he was very impressed... The Lobster bisque was super watered down... Ordered half a dozen of French Kiss... They ordered half a dozen of French Kiss and Raspberry Point. When the oysters were placed we asked the server which was which and she didn't even know... The oysters were also not cleaned properly... The Lobster Risotto was flavourless mush.. the Duck Confit was only satisfactory...DO YOU SEE HOW DRY THE DUCK IS?! I don't remember this place being so bad .... I seriously hope quality control and improvements are made... I'm so unhappy with how disorganized and rude the staff are, the bad food didn't make it any better I also felt super bad cause I made the reservations... My girl looked at me and said "Can we please never come back?" My friends always trust my recommendations and I felt like I really let them down this time

Nice restaurant but the price is quite expensive, close to fine dining price but not yet to that level. I tried their set dinner with wine pairing for additional charge. Good experience but again the price is too expensive in terms of food and wine. Tried once is enough for me.

If I'm posting strictly for the $1 Lucky Lime oysters that we had on a Thursday, I would say 5 stars cuz it was a great deal and it tasted fresh and just what I had wanted! The old fashioned was more like a 3 star ... although I think it was more a 2.75... sorry! Escargots with bread was great! Chef came out and gave us more as we still had a bit to polish off. Steak had good flavour too. The rest of the meal were ok. Great presentation for the dessert! Just a bit on the sweet side for personal taste preferences. Would go back for the oyster deals!!

Highly recommend getting the bone marrow and steak tartare here. So fresh and flavourful and perfect to start any meal. I'd recommend the black cod as well as its smooth and flakey. For desserts, do NOT miss out on their molten lava cake. It's honestly one of the best ones I've had to date. Came here on a Thursday and it was pretty busy. Highly recommend to make reservations to avoid wait. Check out @ooi.eats for all food reviews and your next foodie adventure!

Came here with my family last night for a birthday celebration. It wasn't completely packed but it was still busy given that it was a Friday night. I had a slightly different experience this time. We were seated upstairs this time and I found it a bit noisy. I much prefer dining in the main floor unless you are with a group of friends and wanted a bit of the buzzing vibe. Food wise, I wasn't as impressed as I was last time. I got the 4-course Prix Fixe menu again which was still $60. Price wise it's still a good deal. The most memorable dish was the starter dish, beef tartare. It was simply delicious...just melt-in-your-mouth! The 2nd course was the lobster tacos which was only okay...nothing special. I was also surprised that there was no choice on the dessert. I think it was a baileys' soufflé which was good but it would have been nice to have a choice. There were also other dishes that my family ordered from the a la carte menu which they thought was only okay. I think that the best option is still the Prix Fixe menu. I probably won't be coming back anytime in the near future unless I'm craving for beef tartare.

Immediately upon walking through the door you have a choice of being seated on the lower level with a view of the open kitchen, or the upper level with the bar. There is also a patio on the second floor with quite a sizeable space. The decor is relatively minimalistic with not too much going on and it feels like a very modern take on a French restaurant with hints of a verdant touch. In terms of food I ordered the charcuterie board to start, bone marrow and escargot. The Charcuterie board had plenty of salted meats, cheeses and pickles. There was an assortments or preserved meats, perhaps 3 total kinds and also 3 different kinds of cheese including blue and cheddar. There was pickled cauliflower, olives and gherkins but a downside was that it wasn't explained by the waiter. Bone marrow was delicious and very traditional. Baked with some breadcrumbs on top and served with bread. Nothing wrong about it and it was cooked well. The escargots were well cooked but very buttery as one would expect. Many of these appetizers are served with bread of some kind and that's something that you may have to consider while ordering. The mains we ordered were the Bouillabaisse and the Duck Breast. The Bouillabaisse was nice and fresh with shrimp, mussels, calamari and scallops. Everything aside from the small scallops were extremely fresh though there was chunks of overcooked celery in it. All in all it was lacking a sort of punch, acidity and colour that one would expect from a saffron broth. As for the Duck Breast it was served perfectly cooked with a nice butternut puree. The duck could have used a little more seasoning or brining as it was a little bland on its own but with the orange reduction it has plenty flavour. The puree was nice and smooth but could have used a slight touch more butter to soften the acidity of the butternut and to make it just that bit better. There is a drink menu full of unique and interesting beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. I cannot speak to their quality myself but the guests I ate with informed me that they were quite good. The service from the waiter was quite good and he was attentive and kind. All in all quite a good meal though the food could be improved with just a touch more.

Horrible Valentine's Day experience! They offered a set menu ($100 per person) that has little selection, all the tables are so close to each other, you can hear the whole conversation from the tables next to you. Waiters were not attentive, disappointing food. Only go if you want your date to be ruined!

Atmostphere Upscale, intimate, rustic, 90s music, thoughtful decor The ambiance when we came in was classy and upscale. It was us and another table. 2 groups of well dressed clients. About 20mins later a flood of casual clients came in with sweat pants, hoodies and kids. It's not the restaurant's fault but it felt like a Kelsey's or Boston pizza after that point. Service Patient, courteous, attentive, friendly Lora served us for my mom's birthday dinner on the second floor of Terre Rouge. I think the second floor has a more open and welcoming atmosphere than the first floor. Lora was a perfect waitress and gave us enough time to look at the menu, order drinks and spaced out each course properly. She gave my mom samples of wine to help her decide on one. Huey, who I think is the manager was also very thoughtful and courteous. A few utensils and a wine glass was dropped during service and all the staff didn't hesitate to make sure everyone was safe and apologized for disturbances. Food Most importantly, food. The menu is simple, one page. Some people get anxious at the sight of plethora of choices and my mom is one of those people. The prix fixe ($60) and tasting menu ($90) are a good choice for those types of people. We ordered the prix fixe and wasn't disappointed. Beer and wine is around $11 per serving. Cocktails, add a few dollars. Maybe it was all the negative reviews that gave me a lowered expectation but the food here is up to par. We had a chance to try all the options of the prix fixe menu with 2 people. The highlights for me were the mains. The duck came in 2 generous portions of duck breast cooked to your liking with a nice layer of fat. They were crusted with black and white sesame seeds and sauced up with a light sweet sauce. The rich duck is balanced with zucchini, cauliflower, other veggies and 2 dollops of cauliflower puree. I've had a few black cod dishes in my day and this one is on par. Cooked to perfection, the cod was smooth and soft. And you can't go wrong with miso. The soft texture was balanced with a crunchy cod croquette. The spinach risotto was well done too. The beef tartare was nice. I liked the capers in it. The brulee'd fois gras was interesting. I liked the contrast in texture more than the added sweetness. But it was a good dish none the less. We were disappointed about the lobster tacos. The chipotle sauce over powered the dish so much that you could probably put anything in it and call it lobster. And cutting the lobster in to tiny cubes doesn't do the lobster justice either. But all in all great experience.

[Coconut Creme Brulee] $12 - highly recommend ordering this with the coffee! :D

This was a Christmas lunch organized by the company I work for. This being said, I've also included the prices for what we were provided to eat just so you have an idea of what the price range would have been in theory to actually dine here! [Coffee] $3 - it was pretty standard coffee. I honestly had more than I probably should have just because it went well with the dessert! The coffee really helped me appreciate each flavor of the dessert to its fullest extent so I highly recommend ordering a cup of coffee. [Soup] $9 - after seeing the price point it is typically served at, I really hope that they give a bigger portion when you order it off the menu. It's honestly not a big portion but it was good for what it was. I would describe it as a fancier version of a chicken noodle soup. Beware: it has just the right amount of black pepper in it for me but my colleagues said it was too much for them! [Tuna & Salmon] $17 - this was a plate that every four people shared. It consisted of a tuna and salmon tartate type spread that was served to us with wonton chips and bread! The spread tasted of yuzu which kind of has a citrusy flavor - I found it to be delicious and really wished they served us one plate of this for every two people instead! Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of it because I was so hungry that I just dove right into eating it [Steak Frites] $25 - honestly, the steak was what I was waiting for as it was the main course for what I chose off the set menu. Given its price point, I can kind of understand why I received the quality of meat that I ate. The flavors of the steak were all there and the sauce on it was marvelous. The only thing that truly took away from this dish was how many tendons I encountered while eating the steak. I honestly was getting to a point where I had to cut the steak into pieces no bigger than a dime to avoid hitting tendons. Otherwise, it would have been a dish I highly recommend. [Coconut Creme Brulee] $12 - this was so delicious! I wish it came in a bigger portion because of how much I liked it. I highly recommend ordering a cup of coffee as you eat this dessert. I also recommend having coffee with it because then maybe you'll be able to savor it for longer than I did. I pretty much scarfed it down without a second though and then was met with instant regret because it was all gone. Do I recommend this place? If you're looking for good food at a relatively mid to high price point, heck yes! The service we received is tough to comment on in a general sense as we had the whole upper floor booked out. This meant that we had two servers strictly dedicated to us. They were very warm and friendly though!

Fanciful fusion food but also sluggishly slow service. Service: The waiter and waitress were very professional, with frequent water refills and plate and cutlery changes after each course. The food took a long time to arrive (especially the wait for the appetizers), our meal lasted an entirety of 2 hours. Food: Complimentary bread and butter to start, pretty standard. The beef tartare was excellent, no gamey taste and the texture with the quail egg was tender, not chewy. The foie gras was executed very well, but the hawthorne compote made it a bit on the sweeter side, almost like a dessert. The black cod was the signature dish, with a the fantastic croquette to balance the rich flaky and sweet texture of the fish. The lamb chops were also seasoned very well, with a sweet and tangy barbeque taste, although the rapini was a bit bitter. Finally, the bailey's "soufflé" was a perfect way to finish the meal, resembling almost like an ice cream/tiramisu. Overall: The quality of the food rivals spots in the downtown core, and wouldn't hesitate to return. Would have loved to try the surf and turf pasta but it wasn't on the menu anymore. Tip: Sit upstairs for a more casual/lounge feel, and downstairs for more natural lighting. Check the menu items before you go, because their website isn't the most up-to-date.

Not going to go through the details of each dish but what I can say is that you get what you pay for. The price is on the higher side but its expected at French restaurant which are very limited in Markham. The food was excellent and very fresh. The only dish I would skip would be the seafood plater. The oysters and muscles were small and lacking that ocean freshness. The dish I enjoyed the most was the lamb rack. So soft and tender with excellent sauce to accompany the dish. I also didn't expect much from the cheese cake but it was surprisingly very good. Smooth and creamy. The service was also excellent as expected from a restaurant like this. I would definitely come back again.

I'm glad this place opened up again. Been missing some good ol french cuisine. Their terrace patio is small but nice. Over looks the water fountian/ ice rink. Good amount of shade. Went there for a quick lunch and a few drinks. Ton Collins was very refreshing and suited the weather. The menu had most of the usual favorites but We ordered the pre fixe option and a Bone marrow to start. I'm am very impressed with how the presentation and the food quality was. Most pre fixe menus are smaller portions of the main selections but these were the same portions. Great value and a good choice if you want to try several menu items. Beef tartare.- was nice and done very nicely. It was almost meal in itself. Bone marrow. - it was very nice as well. However, I would have preferred a little less seasoned. And the escargot was very well done. Black cod. Ok...first time having this dish...very good IMHO ..highly reccomend. Light with just a touch of sweetness. Steak frites- done nicely.. can't really complain as it wasnt my dish. Overall, a great experience..bravo for stepping up your game ! I am definitely repeating..

Initially we were going for the idea of breakfast, but timing was a bit off from what we anticipated and it was a really nice lunch date instead. I love the Markham Marriott, the staff is always warm and welcoming. Draco has a very sleek, sophisticated and cozy atmosphere. We both ordered Bacon & Cheddar burgers. I opted for a Caesar salad as an appetizer and hubby ordered their Grilled Wagyu Flat Iron Steak. Let's start with the apps. The Caesar salad was SO good! I wish I had taken a pic, but admittedly, my phone was tucked away and I was caught up in the cozy seating, great food and Christmas vibes of the restaurant and lobby. Grilled Wagyu Flat Iron Steak: $33 - Buttercup Squash Puree and Truffle Oil - Everything you want Wagyu to be - tender, cooked to the perfect temp which left a nice warm red centre. This was melt in your mouth good! The burgers - these were perfection! Draco Bacon Cheddar Burger: $25 - Aged Cheddar with Crispy Bacon Strips; Crispy Onion Straws, Arugula and Garlic Aioli. This was a very well seasoned patty, so juicy and a substantial sized patty of fresh not frozen beef. The bun was lightly toasted, bacon crispy, easily taking this into my top 3 fav spots for burgers! Options for sides include fries, sweet potato fries, poutine, side Caesar or garden salad or truffle fries. We finished off our meal with 2 really good cappuccinos and just took our time before heading home. This was our first time back here in a few years. The food was exceptional as was the service and the warm staff. Draco is the perfect spot for an early morning breakfast, work or lunch date or a nice cozy dinner. They also have Christmas & New Years dinners and brunches. Relax in the restaurant with drinks or in the adjacent lounge, this is a great spot to unwind with some great food and drinks.

The setting feels intimate and unpretentious, more like a traditional neighborhood French spot than a polished fine dining restaurant. We started with the cream of leek soup, which was surprisingly well balanced. It had a smooth, comforting texture without the sharpness you might expect from leeks. Paired with bread, it worked particularly well. The house salad was simple but fresh, with a nicely balanced dressing that made it a pleasant starter. The grilled veal liver may not be for everyone -- there's a slight natural intensity to it -- but with the shallot-based sauce, it became more approachable. The texture was firm rather than overly soft. The escargots were well executed and one of the more memorable dishes. Fresh, tender, and clean in presentation. Overall, a solid and honest meal. With wine, it came to around $80 per person, which felt reasonable for the experience. One thing to note -- reservations are still handled the traditional way by phone, and the restaurant keeps a fairly low online presence. A simple, quietly consistent spot that I would consider returning to.

This intimate establishment presents a culinary narrative grounded in tradition--duck, foie gras, and pristine tartare executed with technical precision that speaks to the kitchen's genuine respect for ingredient and technique. The dining environment envelops guests in understated elegance; the restaurant's urbane sophistication is enhanced by thoughtful service that balances attentiveness with discretion. The wine program merits particular commendation, offering a curated selection spanning from reliable house selections to exceptional vintage discoveries. While the execution remains commendable, there remains room for seasonal flexibility in the menu composition. The kitchen would benefit from occasional adjustments that honor the demands of summer's lighter palate, ensuring that even masterfully prepared offerings remain seasonally appropriate. It seems like they are booked out but we gave them a call and they were able to squeeze us in for 5:15pm reservation on Saturday. Underground parking available and they validate it even if you come a bit earlier than your reservation. I love the charming little house exterior and warm country charm interiors. I ordered their salade de lyonnaise, lamb sirloin and chocolate torte. All were good. Though my friend couldn't have any alcohol and the lamb had a red wine sauce, instead they gave her some kind of reduction or au jus sauce with her lamb and it was absolutely delicious, way better than the actual sauce that came with our lamb and beef mains. We ended up using some of her sauce for our dishes too. I also tried the leek soup and pork terrine appetizers, which was also good though I especially liked the salad with the egg on top. The desserts are probably the highlight of my meal. I love the chocolate torte I had at the end and also tasted the apple tarte which was also great. I think for the Winterlicious menu, the quality of desserts are certainly better than other spots I've had. We also enjoyed the drinks, I had a lychee mocktail and my table had some wine and spanish coffee and decaf cappuccino which was also good. The staff was very attentive though my friend, while she told the staff she doesn't have a shrimp allergy she just didn't want shrimp in her soup. Somehow it was served with it but they did later corrected it, which is all good just a minor hiccup. Probably better to just have us eat it for her than bother with the changes.

The host was able to accommodate us and brought us to the table immediately. The space of the restaurant wasn't as big as I imagined, with only 12 tables - 4 seaters. However, they had combined a few tables to transform to long tables in order to accommodate 2 big parties. Perhaps it was the holiday season, we weren't given any water or acknowledgments 30 minutes after we were seated. Given that we had ample time to study the menu, we knew what we wanted for the night - their winter set menus. Initially, the reason for the visit was that we won their contest on Instagram for dinner of 2 on their set menu B, however, we asked if we could upgrade to the menu C and pay the difference, which, they were able to accommodate our request. Their set menu each comes with a choice of appetizer, a main course, a dessert, a non-alcoholic beverage, AND coffee/ tea. The pan seared atlantic salmon was definitely a winner! Crispy on the skin, and the salmon was cooked perfectly with it being juicy and tender and very silky-smooth. The striploin was cooked just the way we asked - medium rare. The red velvet cake was a nice touch to finish off our evening, but the cream cheese frosting was a little bit sweet to our liking. Other than that, the cake itself was soft and moist. The price of the set menu is tax and tips included, which is very budget friendly with the amount and level of food you get.

We called in the Wednesday before and were able to get a reservation for the same weekend. It was an ok experience but there were definitely odd things I noticed. For the food, you're able to select 4 of 7 of the savoury dishes, which is nice to be able to customize. For dessert, you get most of the desserts except one (you need to pay $3 extra for macaron). Most of the food was fine, not exceptional, but fine. The scones I found were quite small compared to other tea places, and they only gave one per person rather than the usual two I'm used to. The tea experience could be better. In terms of the tea selection, I foundour server wasn't the most knowledgeable about the different tea. When asking about them, they mainly told me what was the top sellers, and when I asked to give me more details about the other ones, I was told things like "that's not as popular" or "that green tea like this other one but a bit different". Which really isn't helpful when trying to figure out what I want. Additionally, thete is a note that it costs $3 for an additional refill, and that a pot serves 4 cups. The problem is that the pot was really small and filled only two cups. They often checked in to see if we wanted a refill, but it was unclear when we would be charged for it. For example, our first refill we didn't get charged, but my guess is that it's because the first pot only filled two cups and not the four cups. So would I get charged for the next refill? How would they keep track? I imited how much I drank because of this. It was an ok afternoon tea experience but it wouldn't be one I would necessarily recommend given the above.

And parking was free, once you registered at the desk. The china teapot and cups/saucers were gorgeous. HOWEVER!!!! We were seated somewhat away from the empty dining room, beside a wedding shower; some dividers separated us from the shower. Why sit older folks close to a noisy party?? (there were games, surprises and speeches) My husband couldn't hear his sister or brother at the other end of the table; I couldn't hear several of my in-laws; my brother in law with a hearing aid couldn't hear me well, and I was sitting beside him; we did not talk. After a couple of hours, I got fed up with the clamour, and anxious to LEAVE!! I suspect the staff seated us there for their serving convenience and/or because they assumed that a group might be noisy and should be near another group. Well!!!, older folks having high tea do not chortle and yell; they yearn to visit with people they've not seen in awhile!! All so unfortunate, as the dining room was empty (we were over near an empty buffet table). The tables were not set for tea, apart from the cups, saucers and pots already on the table; also, each "setting" had cutlery wrapped up in a napkin and I found myself wondering: do I need THREE knives, including a large dinner knife? Do I need two forks for finger food? Where do I put all this stuff? The small spoon was useful though. No table cloth. Institutional-type melamine tables...after I left I realized, they did not set the table at all! Setting the table is a fundamental of high tea. The other two are food and service! Our tea arrived. The china was very beautiful BUT each person got a small teapot and a very large teabag--one too large for the pot (I guess we were to get the pot refilled w water multiple times). I decided that the tiny plate on my portion of the table MIGHT be for my tea bag--there was NO WHERE ELSE to put it (one thing I inherited from my Mum was silver teaware including a little plate to put the teabag; this should not be a mystery for the hotel). I certainly wasn't going to leave a large black tea bag in a teapot for an hour or two!! Later, I realized that the little plate was what we was supposed to eat off of. I wiped it off with a napkin and stuck the tea bag somewhere else.... Perhaps 20-30 minutes after we were served tea, I overheard my in-laws muttering that they needed a refill of water: staff had to be asked to bring more water (!). They didn't ask or offer to bring it a second time. My fellow guests let their tea bags sit in their pots the whole time and/or (like me) gave up on getting more water. High Tea should be several cups of hot and fresh tea, automatically provided by staff and enjoyed over a while (a little bit like at dim sum: the tea helps balance and cleanse; sipping is comforting and should be delicious). As for the food: Savouries: of the four I ate, only the crab was interesting and tasty overall. The egg and truffle: no taste of truffle at all; best part was the brioche underneath; I make egg salad as well. Although the strip loin slices were perfect, and the touch of mustard was good...this was essentially meat on a nice slice of bread (could do this myself too); I'd bet the meat was cooked prior to the date, but it was good. The smoked salmon on croissant: the salmon was better than the frozen product I can get at the grocery store; the croissant may have been baked on a previous day. The single scone and cream: the scone was nice. Others at my table noticed that the cream had a lemon flavour but all I tasted was cream and some sweetness. I've had "cream teas" in England; the clotted cream was NEVER sweet. Although the accompanying jelly was nice, a gourmet/tasty strawberry jam would have been appropriate. Ask the English Desserts: I've never eaten a cannoli before and this was obviously fried (w bubbles in the "pastry"); nothing tempting about it. My guess is that the staff made these the previous day for the shower and for us, since there was a crust on the filling; no taste of pistachio in the filling. I researched what a canelé was before the Tea and wow, the little thing we received was no better than a Timbit in a different shape: so different from what I was expecting. It was supposed to be raspberry and caramel, but it just tasted like baked bread/pastry. An absurd letdown; the internet said they are hard to make, but really!!!! Panna cotta was unmemorable (it was pink and I used my little spoon lol). During the course of our visit, two staff smiled at us once, and we were asked ONCE how everything was, and WHO wants to make a fuss at a celebration? Avoid!!

The space is lively and the service is attentive, which makes the experience enjoyable. As for the food, the variety is decent, and the meats are generally well-seasoned and flavorful. There are 2 locations north of Toronto, north essentially the same. It a large open space with tables far enough apart that you don't feel like you're sitting right next to strangers. There are a few appetizers like the cheese bread and some grilled vegetables. These are bland and have no real flavour. Their corn bread, however, is fantastic. The meat variety is good. Of course, they have picanha (a Brazilian cut of meat), Parmesan sirloin steak, sausage, chicken, grilled pineapple, shrimp, and others. They have beans and rice too. The staff walk around constantly and offer food. They're friendly and are happy to give you an extra piece of meat if that's the one you really like. These reason for 4 stars is that its nearly impossible to get meat that's prepared medium or well done. Not all my family likes rare/medium rare, and while it's possible to request well done, it takes 15-20 minutes to get 2 little pieces of meat by which time you're ready for more and have to wait another 15-20 minutes. This, while all the others are busily eating.
