Pre-Grand Opening

*brunch review* I've been looking forward to Terrain for a while. So happy to have this new restaurant in the old Whole Foods location on route 20. We had early reservations for ' brunch' at 9AM when they open. It seems that they only accept limited reservations right now. High open ceiling with lots of sunlight and tons of plants and greenery. We were immediate greeted and waited in the nicely decorated waiting area with big comfy chairs and sofa. We requested a booth on the reservation but I don't think they saw that in the system. We changed to a banquette but the table and bench were dirty with food & grease stains. We moved to another banquette which also had dirty seats and the bench cushions weren't set up. Not a great start... Our waitress was friendly and greeted us right away, brought our drinks and complimentary sourdough bread in a flowerpot which was cute. - Avocado Benedict was not what I was imagining and I wasn't a fan. The avocado was a little mushy and oily from the fry and no flavor. The eggs were poached fine but the hollandaise was flavorless as well. The cauliflower hash was very oily as well $19 - terrain breakfast looked good and came with 2 eggs, sausage & bacon, toast, potatoes, plus a small salad $18 - kids avocado toast had a whole sliced avocado on a pice of bread but not a lot of flavor and missing olive oil $11. Side eggs were oily $6 and missing dessert that came with the kids meal (maybe because it was so early) - the breakfast potatoes were good - heavy salt and oil/butter? On most of the food - iced coffee was good but small glasses and too much ice. No room to add cream. They also add ice to OJ which was a little odd It's clear that they are still in the process of settling in with menu knowledge, service and food preparation. Looking forward to visiting again once they smooth out the bumps. Appreciated that the manager stopped by the table to greet us and ask how everything was. Plenty of parking in big lot shared with Dunks

This was their chocolate terrarium. Made to look like the terrariums they sell in the garden center. It was divine.

Caffè Nero - Almond Croissant

I stopped by here this past Wednesday by myself for my morning coffee. I happened to be traveling…read morefor work and whenever I looked for a coffee shop on Yelp, Cafe Nero was the closest one and so I headed on over. It's located in Wellesley right at a T stop which I imagine is both good for Cafe Nero as well as good for riders who enjoy good coffee. In any case, the inside consists of a place to order your food, with displays for pastries and other goodies, and then a seating area behind that. I felt somewhat rushed here while ordering (maybe good for riders but not good for me on this morning) and ended up choosing a latte before adding on an almond croissant right before paying. My drink and pastry were ready quickly and I was on my way headed back to my office. I first tried the almond croissant which I thought was good. It was buttery and flaky with a nice almond flavor as you would expect. After that I tried the coffee which I also thought was good. It was deep and rich next to the milk and with a nice ratio, I could easily taste both. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. I enjoyed both my coffee and croissant from here and just wish that I hadn't felt as rushed.

Ambiance was cute. Servers were friendly and quick. Food was so-so…read more I felt that the prices were unreasonable for the amount and quality of food that I got.
