THE BEST! Tuna tartare over avocado topped with potato chips and arugula with cherry tomatoes

What a wonderful restaurant! This is my updated review having first visited Terra e Mare in October 2021. Our server Martin was excellent. And while it was a Thursday and not that busy, we presumed he was also the bartender. Actually the cocktails were that good that when we asked who made them, he said he did! He is actually the full-time bartender who doesn't wait tables on nights that are very busy. Our excellent cocktails included two glasses of rose Sangria, a cucumber Cosmo and a Limoncello Spritz with dinner. Served with complimentary warm bread and sweet butter. The shared appetizer and highly recommended is the Tuna Tartare marinated in soy sauce over avocado with arugula and cherry tomatoes and topped with some freshly made potato chips. Don't miss this one! (See the wonderful presentation in the photo.) My guest and I shared two entrees. One was the night's special... shrimp over linguine in a lemon sauce. The second was the Rigatoni Varese with bits of spicy sausage and spinach in a tomato sauce with pecorino cheese on the side. Both entrees were superb and inspired choices for sharing that complemented each other nicely. "Save room for dessert" (as my parents always used to say when we went out to fancy restaurants!) Our shared dessert served with excellent fresh coffee was the cannoli stuffed with ricotta and pistachio filling surrounded by half-a-dozen fresh raspberries. Everything was spot on, from the excellent and attentive service by Martin, the food and drink and the relaxed ambiance. Special kudos to the chef whose plating of all the dishes made them all visually appealing in addition to tasting superb. For a special dinner, I highly recommend Terra e Mare on Ventura Blvd. in Studio City. And there's free parking behind the restaurant.

Came here Mother's Day and thought it was decent overall. Started off a little annoyed though. Made the reservation well over a week in advance and got a confirmation email then a confirmation phone call a few days before and then another confirmation call the morning of. But when we got there, it took about three minutes to find the reservation and to find where we were supposed to be sat. Mind you we were the first ones in the restaurant and it was completely empty. So I was also a little annoyed that we were set at the very back of the restaurant near the service station and the kitchen when the entire restaurant was open. But I digress.... Our server and unfortunately, I can't remember his name was amazing. They had a limited menu which they did not specify anywhere online or while making the reservation so we had a couple of things in mind and when we didn't see them on the menu, the server was quick to ask the kitchen if they would go ahead and whip them up for us and they did. Started off with the crabcakes and the presentation was amazing. Crabcakes were fresh and flaky and pretty tasty overall. Gave these a 4/5. They had the stuffed squash blossoms. These seem to be a trend now. I've had better. I've had worse. Gave these a 4/5. Then we went and got the steak tartar. Not our favorite at all. Barely seasoned and lacked all around. The toast given with the tartar wasn't even toasted but some how burnt. Yes it was fresh but lacked flavor. 2/5 They had a truffle fettuccine Alfredo. It was just OK. Nothing over the top. Definitely creamy and flavorful, but for the price being one of the more expensive dishes on the menu it just lacked anything that made it memorable. 2/5 for the price. The same goes for the lobster ravioli. The texture and consistency of the filling was a little offputting. It was almost like a minced lobster mixed with ricotta. Again for the price 2/5. There was a pasta dish that was on special or one of the specials. I should say that had some shrimp and some peel noodles. Pretty decent with a 3/5. There was also a fillet special, which was my absolute favorite. Seasoned to perfection and cooked perfectly. The entire dish was put together well. 5/5. And lastly, there was the lamb chops. For the price it seemed like the portion could've been slightly bigger compared to what we get in other places, but it was cooked perfectly seasoned well. 4/5 Ended with the tiramisu and I'm not sure if it was because it was early but the ladyfingers just didn't have time to soak up any of the flavor and we're still crunchy. Gave that a 2/5 . Overall, decent place probably won't be back. The owner or manager was definitely hands-on and busy, but never really paid attention to one section of the restaurant. This would make a nice date night spot if you're in the area or maybe a nice weekend lunch.

Jidori chicken with grilled veggies.

I like this place. After a long day at work, dinner wasn't happening. My husband mentioned Terra e Mare. We have been a few times, but it had been a while since we stopped by. I am happy with his choice because we had a delicious meal here. We started with the buratta salad which was tasty. Creamy burrata and perfectly salted, ripe tomatoes. I had the Jidori chicken while my husband had the pork chop. Both of our plates were sooooo good. The chicken was perfectly seasoned, topped with a slightly smoke cheese. I also enjoyed all of the fresh grilled veggies, especially the eggplant. The pork chop was huge! It was also nicely seasoned and cooked to the perfect temp. The plate was loaded with sauteed mushrooms and had a side of roasted veggies drizzled in balsamic. We really enjoyed this meal. The service was also good as well. I just feel like this spot is always serving up fresh, good food and does it consistently.

My Mom and Dad are big fans of Terra e Mare. I used to dine here a bunch when it was a previous restaurant but have never returned since it became Terre e Mare. I walk/run by every single day as they are right around the corner from me. We joined my parents for dinner recently and while I had some initial hang ups about the place, the food was quite delish. Their corkage fee is $35 and that's something to keep in mind if you're a stickler about your wine. I'm typically not but found myself wishing I'd inquired on corkage fees prior. We opted for an Italian varietal of my Dads choice and it was actually really lovely. Overpriced but lovely nonetheless. You must keep in mind this is a ristorante not a trattoria and the menu prices will remind you if you've forgotten. I ordered the branzino, and my son ordered the seafood risotto. Both of our entrees were excellent. My parents love the branzino, beet salad and grilled veggies. My bestie ordered the salmon and really liked it. We had a tiramisu that was also really nice and I'm extremely particular about my tiramisus. All in all this is a great place to eat but I don't see myself adding it to my personal rotation. I'll leave it to my parents, it can be their special little date night spot and maybe on occasion I'll third wheel with them. Service was great and they do have a Happy Hour I noticed.

The food was fine. The service was not good. The waiter was condescending and impatient at the beginning. The ambiance was good. Everything else was fine. Would I go back? No.

Seafood risotto: excellent Quail with saffron risotto: very good Bolognese: delicious Tiramisu: yummy This place is indeed a hidden gem. We relished every dish, and the service was truly wonderful. The addition of really tasty bread only added to the experience. Highly recommended!

This is their Entree Lobster Ravioli. What a joke!

Wow, what a bad experience on Valentine's Day. They charge $99.00 for a 3 Course Meal. And when i tell you it is a joke, i mean it. There is no music and all you can hear is people talking from everywhere. Already not a good ambiance to celebrate Valentine's Day. Our server is really nice but the food and over all experience is not good. Our entree were served cold, the Lobster Ravioli is 3 pieces of heart shaped ravioli with little lobster on top. This is the Entree you guys serve for $99.00? You guys are a joke. Will never come back here again.

We came here on a Friday night for dinner with 9 people total. The place was full and not crammed which was great. Most of the tables were larger groups like ourselves. The table was ready for us right when we got there. Once we sat down and were looking over the menu, we got to put in our drink orders and after a few minutes when we were ready to order, we got the butter with black salt and rosemary bread brought to our table, it was a good start to dinner and if I wasn't trying to control myself I could have cleared a whole basket by myself. I didn't get to try every dish our table ordered but the food I did try tasted good, best way I can describe it is that they were very solid and satisfactory. The dishes provided tame flavors, nothing too extreme or too unnoticeable but a happy medium. The portions were good enough where an entree will clearly fill you up, even the appetizers were a good enough size that if you chose to order one instead of an entree you'd be able to pull it off, if you prefer a smaller amount of food. The ambiance felt very family friendly which would explain the frequency of large groups I noticed very quickly once we entered the restaurant. The service was solid and the staff was courteous, we did not wait too long for attention and the staff was able to answer all the questions we had and assist wherever we needed it. There was a little parking in the back and if it got full we would have easily found street parking all around the restaurant. Overall we all enjoyed our visit to the restaurant and I can see myself coming back in the future whenever I'm in the mood for Italian food. Everything we ordered: -fiuggi (sparkling water) -bourbon cooler (drink) -very berry mule (drink) -black manhatten (drink) -the 1908 (drink) -NY sour (drink) -butter with black salt and rosemary bread -Grilled Calamari -Rigatoni Varese -Pollo Ruspante -Veal Chop -Filetto di Manzo -Farfalle alla vodka e Prosciutto -Lasagna Bolognese -Meat Balls -Baked Red Snapper with carrots and broccolini

Came here today and I'm so happy that we decided to go here for dinner. This spot is so cute and everything I had was very delicious. We came on a Monday during the happy hour, which is from 5:00-7:00pm Sunday-Thursday. You have to sit at the bar for happy hour but it's for sure a vibe. The happy hour deals are very reasonable with a decent variety and good drinks & entrees. We started off with the bread that was fresh and hot, and so perfect with the butter. The bread here is ADDICTING, I gave up on bread a long time ago, but today I had to try it once I had a tiny piece, I had to finish the whole slice. For happy hour I ordered the penne arriabiatta if I spelled that correctly haha, it was really good and it had a spicy tomato sauce that was good and not too spicy. For the drinks the bartender Martin was absolutely the best, I had three drinks from the happy hour menu: margarita, lemon drop, and cosmo. They were PERFECT! What I ordered off the regular menu was Jidori chicken with sautéed spinach, and the surf and turf that was very good. The plate that it came on was eccentric and artsy as well. Lastly, the desert was good I was full and still ordered tiramisu. It was soft, most, perfect texture, and I could taste a little expresso which made it complete!! It was too good honestly. Parking: it is street parking in front or on the of the entrance. It is also parking lot in back, but I don't think you can park there only if you have handicap. However, in a nutshell, I will be back! Martin is the best, very good personality and knows his stuff he made the first time a good one. I recommend sitting at the bar when he is there. Also, When you sit at bar you can see the kitchen where the Chef's cook. This makes it quite entertaining. The decor inside is cute and Romantic but good for so many more occasions as well. I can't wait to try the salmon next :)

Rock in food!

Super Disappointing! Dined here with family and overall found the food lacking flavor, service poor and to top it off we literally found a decent sized rock in our seafood dish!! Was able to try several dishes as there were 6 of us. Nothing stood out and much of it was lacking flavor. Beef tartar-lacking flavor & salt Chilean sea bass-over cooked and not that flavorful Risotto- fine, nothing special 20% tip was added for 4 adults & 2 kids and honestly the service wasn't very good. When I asked our waiter to tell me the differ between the two different sea bass dishes on the menu he said -I don't know I haven't tried i

Great service, presentation and experience. Went to Wood and Fire as a single and was sequestered to the last seat at the bar. Highly recommend on service, food and the ability to hang with the kitchen crew to see how things work!

We scored a bottle of 2007 François Cotat Sancerre. Cotat is one of the most iconic Sancerre producers, and because his wines are built to age, finding a 2007 vintage on the menu here was a massive treat. While we didn't dive into the proper cocktail menu, my partner ordered the non-alcoholic Hojicha Orange Milk Punch, which was phenomenal, and judging by how beautiful the drinks at neighboring tables looked, I'd assume their cocktail program is strong. Service was stellar. Lisa, who helped us navigate the wine list, was lovely! She was incredibly generous, offering us a few complimentary pours of other wines to taste. Will definitely revisit to try other menu items and their cocktails!

Still stands-up to the hype after all these years…read more If "Trendy" was a restaurant, Bestia would easily be in top contention, even after being around for more than a decade. That says a lot. Once upon a time (a few years ago), my CFP + banking institution wanted to thank me for being one of their top private clients. They expressed their gratitude with a very generous, all expense paid full-course meal at Bestia. To say that I was impressed would be an understatement. Fast forward to now, I knew that coming back here would be a good idea. Make no mistake, even if you try to book a reservation several weeks in-advance, don't be surprised if the only available seats are at the counter. Granted, I was in a spacey table during my past visit, the counter can be an enjoyable & unintentionally entertaining space. It's great for a more casual vibe, as you get to see some of the kitchen workers put together some of their signature dishes. In many ways, Bestia seems like a microcosm of the city that it rather humbly resides within. What always catches me off-guard, is that the surrounding simple area really doesn't reflect the happening, vibrant, night-life that resides within the building's walls. You feel like you're taken so a different, very social, very bustling world. WINE: Podere 72, Poderi San Lazzaro (Marche region, central Italy) - 8.7 / 10 A very robust blend of Montepulciano & Sangiovese grapes that results in a balanced, medium bodied red wine that stands-up to heartiness of a beef ribeye steak. FOOD: Roasted Bone Marrow - 9.4/ 10 I have several friends that go here just for this particular dish. Funny enough, one can almost always tell that one is at Bestia because of the rather peculiar manner in which this dish is served. Hot, melted bone marrow is appropriately scooped out of the bone & poured onto spinach gnocchetti. It's like eating beef flavored mouth pillows of potato + spinach. It's definitely a dish that will impress whoever you are with. I can never resist ordering this whenever I am here. Oxtail alla Vaccinara - 8.9 / 10 The deep, rich maroon color of the rigatoni (thanks to beets) is a sight to behold. The pasta is firm but not too hard. It's a humble yet complex pasta dish that complements any main course. 26oz Margaret River Wagyu Ribeye - 9.4 / 10 Anybody who knows me knows that I love my ribeye. Any decent fancy restaurant does a ribeye. But no one does a ribeye quite like Bestia. The fermented mushroom cream delivers a punch of pungence not unlike a delectable dijon mustard, but to the highest of levels. This dish also makes me a believer in well-cooked onions served alongside steak. I usually like to take a home a portion of ribeye for later, but this is one of the very few instances when the steak is so good, that I can't help but finish it here. Again, the portion is more than enough to be shared. Fromage Blanc Mousse - 9.1 / 10 This seasonal dish hits all the right notes. It's the fanciest of cheesecakes, so I recommend sharing this. With its decadence, a little truly goes a long way & that's perfectly fine. The richness of the cheese is offset perfectly by the right balance of candied kumquats. A great "bite" to end on. Huge shout-out & thanks to Radu for being the nicest & most enthusiastic of servers. It's little things like him being so down to take pics of you with your party that really make me want to come back here. It the owners / management is reading this, please recognize how pivotal he is to your team. If he was working under me, I would most definitely give him a raise. Also, shout-out to Dani at the hostess stand. She is one of the most personable people. For being the first person that patrons see upon entering, she is the perfect face, attitude, & welcoming personality that the hospitality industry is in dire need of. She's a rockstar of a hostess & a pleasure to talk with. Bestia is a better place because of valuable employees like Radu & Dani. As always, come for the food. Come back for the service. I would definitely come back because of how amazing Radu & Dani are. Years after the hype, the vibe is still very much happening at Bestia.
