I set an urgent appointment online last night. I selected the 8-10am arrival time. I called at 9am to confirm they had the correct info and we were all set. They confirmed the time. Seems like consistent themes. We found a bug in a bed and were diagnosed with bed bugs by Terminix technician #1. Cut us a 'great deal' at $2,200. Manager special per him. I really wasn't upset so long as they were eliminated and wife was happy. Couple weeks pass and they come back to retreat as we found another. Technician #2 says....whoops, these are bat bugs. Bats in the attic carry them, you need to flush them out, seal attic, etc. That will be another $5K. Wondering how the hell that makes sense, I call someone else highly rated on Yelp and get their take. $1,200 to do everything that Terminix wanted ~$7,200 for and laughed at me for paying what I did and the fact they misdiagnosed bed vs bat bugs. Called Terminix, got nowhere, disputed charge with credit card and because we signed an agreement (which we sure did for the bed bugs I didn't have) credit card company kept the charge. Place is a total ripoff, obviously not very competent, and doesn't take care of their customers. 0 stars never again. Update - After 9 emails from the social media support team ensuring me this would "be addressed immediately", ensuring it wouldn't be a waste of time, and claiming the branch called my wife multiple times to address (never called her), I spoke to the branch.....and, completely wasted my time yet again, got nowhere and continue to have the BS charge. I've been an Ultimate Protection customer for 17 months and recently requested a copy of my master agreement because I was suspiciously made aware that the billing amounts were not matching up with the technician's invoices. After researching my online account history, I thought it best to request a copy of my master agreement. After 5 days of multiple phone calls and way too much time on hold, no one in corporate or the local offices could produce a copy of the master agreement. Actually, I was told by the last corporate representative I spoke with, that the local owners are sometimes in the field and don't always have time to return phone calls. REALLY? After 2 days? I own my own business and I make sure I return calls within a timely fashion, especially a current paying customer. So ironically, the technician came by this week for his quarterly visit. We chatted about specific bug issues around the property. He treated what we discussed. The garage door was open the whole time. I went out to the driveway to retrieve something from my car and he was in the process of driving away. He saw me and stopped. He said, "Do you want me to replace the adhesive traps (4) in your garage?". "Well yes, of course I do." was my response. Honestly, you have to stand over people to do a thorough job. Horrible! Totally the worst company I have ever had the misfortune to engage in. Very good at tricking the customer. Numbers and paperwork don't match. Missed appointments, late appointments. Didn't bring supplies needed and asked to use my personal supplies!!! Lied to me numerous times. Billed me for incomplete work. Had their payment processing third party company bill me, so that added a hassle of interest and payment plan (agreed to pay flat out directly to terminix). Nobody in the office talks to each other. Or it's all a joke to them to jerk you around. Had to call corporate on them. Straight up, one little job took a month. Had to take 3 days off work for them and basically project manage everything for them. AVOID. I verbally tell everyone I meet. Wish I read the other reviews before hiring them. Literally. The. Worst. Also, even after you cancel them, they're not gone. I keep getting emails that they're coming to inspect, and when I call to cancel, the person on the phone has a different inspection date than what I received in the email!! I have had service with Terminix for about a year and a half. I recently discovered a hole hear my porch and contacted them to have it investigated. The tech came out and all he wanted to talk about was me buying new insulation in my home. I tried to veer his focus back to the hole in question and he insisted we go look at my attic. I refused and again tried to focus the tech on the whole. He then wanted to go into my basement to look there. Finally I was upset because of his refusal to acknowledge and address the problem that he was called out for that I asked him to leave. Shortly after I called and cancelled my service. read more

Have been using Terminix for our termite bond for all the homes we've ever owned. Last year when we purchased our home, we decided to get the pest control as well since we had spiders and ants. We've had only positive experiences with the techs and the people in the phone. Very pleased with their service, the promptness of the technician when they come to our home, the use of text messages to let me know they are in their way, the ability to reschedule using their online portal and the fact that we no longer have any bugs in our home make us happy to give Terminix an excellent review. read more

Terminix took over Altera Pest control this year. For us, it was a smooth transition....The technician was very prompt in arrival. He was also extremely thorough and treated all of the areas of concern. Highly satisfied thus far. I am notified via email and text of estimated arrival times and dates. I am also contacted after service is over to confirm service is complete. Their website is easy to use for paying bills. When I have called, the customer service agents have been very helpful. Don't call them, do it yourself. I paid for bug control, enrolled for monthly payments (over a hundred dollars) and quarterly control. The first application didn't kill even a single bug, second application was better but not sufficient, the third application they just left a note in my door: "we cannot proceed with the outside inspection, you were not at home"... I was at home, they didn't ring the bell, nor call my phone. I paid over 300 totally worthless, now I have to spend other 300 for the equipment and do it myself... read more

I would not advise anyone to get their home serviced by Terminix. This is the worst pest control company ever. They will set up an appointment with you and never call or show up. when one of the techs finally did come to my home he did a bum job. After he left he called me about 10 minutes later and said that he was running late and would be to my home soon, I told him "sir you just left my home" then he said oh I did? I think must either be sniffing in too much of that spray or he is smoking too much weed. Anytime you can't remember what you did in the last 10 minutes, something is wrong with you. I just cancelled my pest control services and my mosquito service with them. Either they don't come to do the job, they come and do a half ass job. I'm done with these people. Whatever you do, please do not use this company! My dealings with them have turned into one of the worst experiences of my life and it just keeps getting worse. I contracted with them to do some work on my house. To date some of the work remains uncompleted. They also damaged my property while conducting the work and not only does it not remain resolved, they are actually now lying and claiming that they actually did reimburse me for it. After they did such shoddy work and damaged my property I revoked authorization for other work that they were going to do--yet now they are continuing to bill me for that work as if they actually did the work. They lie to me repeatedly and now I can't even get them to return my phone calls to resolve the matter. This is a shoddy and dishonest company and is now blatantly violating the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act by trying to collect for work that they never did. If I could give -0 stars I would... I got back from a trip to Florida and found a bed bug on one of my shirts. I washed everything and threw my suitcase out but wanted to get my room inspected just in case. I called Terminix and set a time for 8-10am since I worked at noon. I was terrified of the bed bugs so I did not even sleep in my room last night and I was up until 3 am anxious for the inspection. I woke up at 8am and waited until 10:30am and still no one. I called and they said that they are going to have the inspector call me. He called and said he was triple booked and will be there soon... he showed up at 1145!!!! he arrived and his name was Bruce Simenson. He refused to come in and the FIRST THING HE ASKED was "what is your budget?????" without even LISTENING TO MY PROBLEM!!! I said what??? he said he has to do the WHOLE apartment is going to charge me $1500!! I said im not sure i even had bed bugs and wanted him to come in and check. he said no thats gross and refused to come in!!!!! he then started arguing with me and telling me they are in my walls and my whole apartment is infested and started questioning my intelligence and was being an AWFUL hardseller! I am in sales and this was the worst pitch of my life. i got upset and said he wasted my time and i am not interested and he refused to leave. he then asked me where i worked and got very aggressive and mean....i am a small 24 year old girl. i felt very threatened and intimidated. he then told me to come to his car to sign something...what the heck?! then he proceeded to yell at me and tell me he does not even treat apartments and that he was doing me a favor.......i finally shut the door on his face to make him leave. I called corporate and a branch manager was supposed to call me but never did. disgusting terrible company this was AWFUL and my problem was not even solved. They are very misleading about stink bug control. I have had them as a service provider for almost a year. I have talked to many managers about the stink bug issue and get different answers from different people but in the end I've found they have zero treatment for it. I have accepted this but continue to use their service until the other day when I had ordered a service and ask if they would call me prior to coming so I'd have an idea of when they were coming. I received no phone calls and no one came to my house for the service. I called the next day and was placed on a 50 minute hold to be disconnected and never received any resolutions. Everyone you talk to tells you something different about policy or scheduling. I do not recommend their services to anyone I advise you to go local or with another company. read more

Terrible Service. Twice my family called for an inspector to come to our home to do an annual termite inspection and both times they did not show up. Apparently, one of them came to our home when obviously no one was home because we DIDN'T make any appointment for that day or time. On top of that, customer service is extremely rude and unhelpful. I'm speaking on behalf of my father. He called to complain as to why the inspector did not come the first time, the person who answered the phone did not provide a clear explanation for it and tried to reschedule our appointment for later in June (this month). Our original inspection was scheduled for mid-May. My father wanted the appointment in May, not June. Then the ignorant person on the phone replied "What difference does it make whether the appointment is in May or June?". I'd say there's a HUGE difference as far as timing. Then after the second time they don't show up, again, my father called to yet again complain about the same music as far as why no one showed up. The woman who answered obviously had no clue what business she was in because she didn't offer any help, suggestions, and couldn't find any technician/inspector to get a hold of to figure out what was going on. Instead, she asks stupidly "Okay, do you notice any termite problem at your home?". Now, how are we suppose to know the answer to that??? Isn't that the point of paying these not-so-professional guys annually or bi-annually whatever to figure that out for us. We are not termite technicians. Reasonably, after my dad gets even more furious at the woman on the phone who asked that dumb question, that same woman hangs up the phone on the spot without finishing the conversation. From that very moment, we knew it was time to switch right away to a new company. It seems their service gets worse as the years go on. Very unprofessional staff. I can't really tell how in the world they are still in business. Do not start a contract with these idiots, better to distance yourself as far away as you can from them. read more

I will only address communication which needs substantial improvement. (1) Telephone staff are not even local and it is difficult to talk to local staff. (2) Staff in one department will make assignments for staff in other departments and no one from the second department will phone to verify the information. Horribly, grossly unprofessional, disrespectful and dishonest sales. We saw winged ants in or basement and wanted to determine if they were in fact the vanguard of a termite colony. Sales guy came over, took one look from a distance with a flashlight without even examining the anatomy of the insect, and pronounced on the spot, with his best ominous tone, that we had been invaded by swarmers. Two thousand dollars, pay me now by credit card, and I'll have a team out tomorrow to solve your problem....except that's wasn't our problem, a far more professional peer determined the next day. We had simple flying ants, NOT termites. The Terminix rep was pushy, refused to respect the fact that I'd seek competing bids, and had to be shown the door after failing to a series of not-so-subtle hints that I wanted him to leave. It's a wonder to me that a national chain sends borderline con men out to represent them, and I only fear for more vulnerable neighbors who might have fallen for the same fear mongering tactics. If you've got termites, deal with them promptly and aggressively by all means. But don't let these guys take you for a ride if you don't! read more

Good aftermoon~ I am writing because we are very upset that we were lied to about the whole process of treating bed bugs. I was home July 26, 2014. I spoke to Jason Herlihy who came to my home to give me an estimate of what it would cost to get rid of the bed bugs. He told me that one treatment could get rid of them or we may need more tx's. He did not tell me that the bugs lay eggs and they hatch in 2 wks so they need to come back & kill those. I did a lot of reading on bed bugs and all of it says you MUST have 3 treatments to totally get rid of all the bugs. Jason also told me it was $325. for one room or $725. for the whole floor. He told me the tech would be in the house treating for 4hrs. My house is very small, the size of a small cabin all on one floor, open concept. The bugs were all in one room, bedroom which is 10'x10'. I took the house apart and washed everything in hot water & dried in hot dryer. We were getting bit up terribly. I was living in a horror movie. I was terrified to say the least! I did not sign anything July 26, 2014. Jason said the WHOLE top floor would be treated so my boyfriend paid $725. to have this service done over the phone with his credit card. Jason could not get a tech to the house until July 28, 2014. This was Matthew Fadden. When we went inside after the treatment my boyfriend slept in the bedroom and bed bugs were crawling all over him July 28.. We threw the bed frame out side and burned it that night. I spoke to a CSR that week finally who told me she would get someone to come out asap and have Jason call me. I made many calls to Terminix the following day July 29, 30, 31and a supervisor called me August 1, 2014. I told the CSR supervisor that we still had an infestation and needed someone to come back & treat again. She said she would contact Jason and have him call me. Jason never called. I was livid. A supervisor called me Saturday August 2 after I sent a very angry email. I told her that we were being promised someone would come out & treat again but never did and Jason never called. She promised again to have someone contact us Monday Aug 4. Jason was on vacation but no one knew this and kept sending him emails and calls but he wasn't responding nor was anyone covering for him. We were livid to say the least! Two more treatments should have been set up but never were. It should have been August 11 then Aug 26. The tech Matthew who came July 28 sprayed only the bedroom and turned the couch over and ripped the bottom out. That was all that was done. He was inside the house for an hour. In one big room is our kitchen and living area. All that was treated was maybe the couch and the 10'x10' bedroom. That is NOT worth $725. that Jason quoted to treat the bedroom and furniture, guest room and furniture, living room, kitchen and bathroom which were not done. I begged the supervisor person to get someone to come back & treat. Finally the tech Matthew came August 7. He was in the house for only an hour again. He told me he was only treating the bedroom and closed the door when he was done and said I could go inside the house after 2hrs. He helped me carry the mattress outside. It was later burned outside. In the bedroom he supposidly treated the floor and 2 night stands and a bureau. That was all that was in there. Since June 6, 2014 I was sleeping in my car or in a tent outside until we solved this nightmare. We had Terminix come a third time to ensure the bugs were gone. On the contract it states a follow up inspection would be done within 5 days which was NEVER done. Where was Jerry Osullivan to overlook this all??? I have all copies of these contracts. What I am requesting is $725. be refunded immedietley as we did were not informed correctly, appointments were not set up properly, we were mis-informed and undertold of processes, we were lied to and above all NOT ALL ROOMS WERE TREATED. ONLY ONE WAS TREATED. This is an extremely small house as well. Someone needs to contact me immedietly to let me know there is a check being sent today to...... If this is not done then letters everyday will be sent to Terminix International Memphis TN, Service Master Co in Downers Grove IL and Clayton Dubilier & Rice Inc. Unbelievable! We had a wildlife problem in our attic. Rep for Terminix came out and observers a pregnant raccoon and shredded insulation. Went over pricing to have wildlife removed and new insulation placed, repair of any possible entry for the wildlife. Purchased package. Terminix came out "removed everything in attic" requested pics never got them. Anyway, the wildlife wasn't up there but they placed a cage in there. So I thought if you fixed the entry points, I'm assuming they can't get in there! Well, they charged us for capture of wildlife which never happened. I told rep to correct billing before they expect payment. Well Ricky Raccoon is back in the attic. I called several times to speak with manager. No luck with that always was promised a call back. Finally, someone called back to only tell me they can't comeback out here to service this address and that he he needed to speak with billing first and someone higher up. My usual account manager for standard services (Parker) has always been communicative, reliable and professional. He is one of those people you can just rely on doing what they say they will. And, recently I had a significant problem at my house requiring multiple days of work and multiple teams to be coordinated. The manager for this project (Larry) was also exceptional. He was informative, flexible and professional. The initial scheduling was complicated due to my schedule and he was willing to be flexible and make changes to accommodate my needs. He then sat with me to explain the issues and expenses and VERY efficiently helped me work out a financing solution. His services continued after that by coordinating not only internal teams (led by David) but external partners to get the work done without my needing to be present. His teams showed up on time, did the work they promised, cleaned up and were also very professional. The icing on this wonderful service experience was that he found cost savings for me during the course of the work and ended up saving me about 15% of the original quote. If only all service providers took this much pride in their work, things would be much easier. read more

This company has always been helpful in answering questions. I had one tech come out that did not do a very good job. I had a bedbug problem and I contacted Terminix to get rid of them. On the first appointment they were late. Also they didn't call and then they told us about some things at the last minute like taking all of the clothes of the drawers and vacuuming to get rid of the bugs. Where is second appointment because the day after they cleaned they clean the house we still had bedbug bites and we found bedbugs on the ground. In our second appointment they came in late again and they just took a quick look and said there were no bedbugs. But we had proof that there were bedbugs. When we called them they hung up on us and didn't listen to us. This is the worst pest control company ever if I were you I wouldn't waste a singe cent on this company. read more

I will NEVER recommend this company you anyone I love it respect. I paid for my year- long contract in full at the beginning of service. The case manager swiped my credit card 3 times and my credit card company subsequently declined the purchase. The company didn't notice until 3 weeks later. I kept called prior to that to inquire about the charge because it was not on my statement. NO-ONE had answers. When I called to inquire about a missed appointment, my case manager finally told me that it was because my payment never sent through. For the next 6 interactions with the company I was treated like I had insufficient funds and that I was trying to avoid paying for service. I was completely dissatisfied with how I was treated and moved to cancel my contract. When asking what I owed to close my account, I got a different figure every time I spoke to someone. When I finally got in contact with a manager, he, of course have me a new figure that included the full cost of the contract when they only did half of one service and a fourth of another. Once I asked for clarity on his figures he adjusted his amount and I paid 50% of my contract. Several phone calls and $700 later, I still have a mouse. I will NEVER use Terminex again! Just filed a complant with the BBB. We asked for a 1 time flea treatment on a townhouse we were renting and vacating. We agreed on a date: May 27th On April 29th, we found a receipt for "spiderweb window clearing" in our door. We were charged $125. Since then, I have been on the phone with Terminix at least 7 or 8 times trying to clear this up, and it hasn't happened. I have to explain my story each time, and each time I am told I will be contacted by a manager. When I ask to speak to a manager, I am put on hold, and then told that they are unavailable. I keep getting bills, and I keep getting headaches. Oh, and I ended up doing our flea treatment with Superior. Much, much better! read more

Their service is fine but customer service is not so great. I get postcards and robocalls telling me to be home at a certain time and date and no one shows up. When I call, no one knows where the appointment came from and it matches no dates they have on file for current, past or future appointments. They are unable to tell me why I get the bogus calls or cards. I now must assume that when I am notified, there is no such appointment and that I must call to get the real appointment. Three years after Christina's post and nothing has changed. We have had Terminix apply their treatments every year since 1997. This year we found some termite damage in a window sill. In June, the inspector said, "Yes, that's termite damage. Someone will contact you." We had another inspector in September who said the same thing. But no repair - their contract guarantee is meaningless. Just as Christina points out, phone calls get transferred to some mystery call center where nothing every happens. I will be contacting my attorney for further action. Our contract is up for renewal in October. It won't be with Terminix. I don't need the hassle and the worthless contract. Terminix should be avoided at all possible cost; there are plenty of other termite control companies in this area. read more

We have been Terminix customers (zip code 20171) since 2003. We upgraded to the baited system when it became available. The last check my husband wrote was for $778.05. The last inspector at my house tried to tell me we would have to upgrade to get the bait canisters back into our stations even though we upgraded to the canister bait years ago. Also the call center supervisor refused to connect me with an executive at the national level and instead insisted on calling the local office--the same people who have, in my opinion, failed to provide us with the products and services for which we paid! THERE IS NO ACCOUNTABILITY AT TERMINIX. I went out and personally inspected all of our bait stations. Some of the bait canisters were completely EMPTY. Some had been replaced with rotting wood and I don't see how that helps kill anything; it's probably quite tasty to the termites. Several stations were so old they were chipped or deteriorating and there has been no effort to replace them. I used to follow the inspectors around and look at each bait station along with the inspector but of late, I have some health problems that have taken priority to supervising the inspectors which we HAVE paid to do the job for us. I should have dragged myself around and insisted on taking pictures of each bait canister to ensure it was in good condition. But then why pay them? I've also had service appointments set up in the past and no one showed up. And the inspectors are never the same individual and I hate to have to say this but the inspectors seem to be less and less educated about the bait systems in general. I've sent pictures of this disaster to local media outlets since I think consumers deserve better. Also, now we have to hire someone else to come in and inspect our entire property and pay for some other deterrent system. read more

my husband and I were supposed to have a termite inspection on Saturday, 6/23. They were scheduled to show up between 8-11am on Saturday and he did not show up until 4:45 pm. My husband ran to the gym and they finally showed up. BRUCE SIMONSON did not conduct an inspection. He walked to the back of my house, poked his head out of the door (only looked left and right without going outside) and then came inside, opened up the door to the laundry room and barely looked. Then went to his car. When he came back I asked him what a termite inspection entails since this is my first home - and he proceeds to spin this lie that I needed to have my house treated before I was allowed to have the report (WHICH I LEARNED FROM TERMINIX CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS NOT TRUE). He pushed for me to pay for what I thought was the inspection, which was supposed to be free because my husband signed up for the free inspection online, but instead I ended up paying over $200 because BRUCE told me "that's how this works for an inspection" and "this is part of happy home ownership" as well as "This is a townhouse, so you have to do it this way". BRUCE SIMONSON did nothing but take advantage of me and my lack of knowledge as to what a termite inspection was. He came into my house and completely disrespected me. When I told him that my husband was on his way home if he wanted to speak with him - he rushed right out to his car gave me his card and left. I have seen reviews on Yelp and am realizing that I am not the only one he has done this to. And I am not sure why he is still allowed to be a salesman or whatever he is when all he does is see a chance to take advantage of a woman who is trying to watch and take care of her 4-year-old son while he DID NOT conduct an actual inspection. He is a liar and a scammer. He does not do the reputation of Terminix any justice because all he cares about is having people sign for contracts - even if it means lying to get them to sign. I do NOT appreciate the way that he came into my house under false pretense, lied and cheated me out of $200+. It is wrong and unethical. He works out of the Sterling Virginia office and I hope that you all will seriously take this into consideration. We unfortunately needed the services of pest control but obviously did not look at the reviews of Terminix. Personally I wouldn't even give them one star but I want this to stand out. This is in response to customer # 12852067 in which the service took place on 09/20/19. They set the time for 5 pm and showed up closer to 6 pm and said we really did not have "bugs" in which 3 occupants had witnessed the " bugs". The service person did not attempt to look behind appliances despite being told that is where we saw them, under the refrigerator and dishwasher. He proceeded to spray outside of the house and said he would follow up on Monday (the day of the service was the Friday before). The following week we never heard from Terminix despite numerous phone calls and emails.I called the customer service number the following Friday 9/27/19 and was told it would be "escalated to the branch manager". Again no response, my husband called earlier this week without any further response from Terminix. We still have the "bug" problem, and are out of $200.00. We are now going to dispute this charge and find another pest control service. I have another home on the Eastern shore which we used their services in the Spring for the fly situation and will terminate our yearly contract. I can not justify their services, since they are a total ripoff!!! read more

Worthless. I signed up for both their pest control and mosquito abatement services. Their mosquito abatement was advertised as a once-per-month service and they told me their should be a 75% decrease in mosquitoes after the first treatment. I saw absolutely no decrease after the first treatment, but thought, "well, give them a chance and wait for the second treatment." The second treatment was due on the ninth of the month and they didn't show. I called later to complain and was told that the second treatment had been delayed to the 29th. When I reminded them that it was supposed to be a once per month plan, their response was "well, it will still be in the same calendar month." So by my calculation, they could show up o the 31st of one month, the 1st of the next, and then not be around for another 59 days, and still fit their goofy "once-per-month" schedule. It's been two and a half months now, and there has been no noticeable decrease in the mosquito population at my house. My inclination is to not pay for someone to simply show up on some random schedule and produce NO results. I would encourage anyone and everyone to avoid them if you expect to see any results. read more

I have been a customer with Ultimate Plan and termite since 2013, I have a property with detached garage, guest house shed and barn. I signed the contract with Terminix to service all the property and since; they have been servicing the whole property including the garage, shed etc... as per the contract between us. Couple of weeks ago (September19th) they scheduled a termite inspection between 5-7pm. No one showed up or called to cancel. I called the next day to complain, they apologized and rescheduled for the next day between 10-12pm. No one showed up nor called again. I called again and no one answered. I called the 800 number they tried to contact the branch, no one picked up. A week later I received a call from a certain Steve from the branch rescheduling a new appointment. Finally the inspector (Dave I believe, very nice gentleman, very professional) arrived and found termite activities in the shed. After many attempts to reach Steve again, he refused to treat or cover the damages caused by the Termites, the reason he gave me was that only the main house was covered. Clearly, he did not read the contract or he is just trying to get away from his commitments and responsibilities towards a customer. I immediately contacted my lawyer who had a copy of the contract. He could not believe it. He asked me to personally contact the management of Terminix and explain the situation to find an immediate solution to the termite problem prior to taking this issue further. It seems that the branch manager doesn't really cares about the reputation of Terminix as much as we the customers do. JJ read more
