I have been a Terminix customer for several years, with both an exterior treatment annual plan and a mouse exclusion contract. While the quarterly exterior treatment has been fine and we really like the technician, the mouse exclusion plan recently has been a huge disappointment. In spite of Terminix's sealing our home and treating it, a mouse managed to work its way into the master bedroom by tearing off the air-conditioner insulation from the pipe and working its way through the dried up foam filler, where we discovered mouse droppings and later a partially eaten piece of chocolate. I called Terminix last Monday (July 8) and didn't see anyone until our regular technician arrived on Friday, who wasn't equipped to seal the house. In the mean time, I phoned the toll free number with my complaint and a second technician came today, but didn't have the proper tools because he was not the exclusion specialist. The inability to call a local manager directly to find out why we are paying a considerable annual fee for the service and not getting a prompt response is infuriating. Customers should expect a mouse free home with such service and a prompt solution when there is an issue, instead of being put on a back burner without explanation. read more

Nonexistent customer service. First, there are many issues with the corporate side of Terminix. Despite 5 phone calls, they never got our phone number correctly. This caused a lot of confusion for the local technicians and caused one to show up unannounced. Second, and worst of all: Recently, a technician, Daniel, came for a regularly scheduled service at our brand new home. The day before, he left a voicemail saying that he was really busy, could we meet earlier (we could not because we both work full time), but he would try to make it. That should have been the first clue: that he would be rushed. Instead of using a thin, precise spray nozzle of insecticide, he haphazardly sprayed from an aerosol can from a distance without regard to accuracy. During the previous service, the tech had directed the poison through a nozzle or a straw, like those found on WD40 cans. This time, the tech was spraying the way one would spray hairspray. In so doing he: 1. Very much oversprayed and stained our newly painted walls with overspray of insecticide. 2. Caused the insecticide to run down the walls and baseboards in certain areas. 3. Sprayed in such a way as to get the insecticide all over brand new, very expensive wallpaper. As soon as the Terminix technician was done, I noticed the wet, streaky wallpaper first. He was still parked in our driveway when I called him. He did not apologize or offer to come back inside and address the damage. "No worries, it'll dry," is all he said, before driving away. I knew not to trust this. I got a damp rag, got on my hands and knees in the middle of the work day, and was able to remove the wet insecticide from our wallpaper before it completely ruined it. For the next several hours, I was on my hands and knees desperately cleaning the baseboards and walls of over 2,000 sqft. The oily residue remains on several walls and baseboards and has ruined our brand new paint (photos attached). I called a local technician whose phone number I had. He said that the branch manager would call me right away. No one called back. I called the 1888 number and emailed multiple times. They also said I would be contacted by the branch manager, Jamie Cooley. Jamie Cooley never called even though Terminix had damaged our brand new home out of carelessness. The local branch managers have been contacted many times from customer "service" but are completely ignoring this problem, let alone issuing a refund. This is a shameful way to do business. The 1888 Terminix number is useless because they are not empowered to do anything for the customer. Same with Emailing Terminix. They say, "we will escalate this. We promise someone will call you." Doesn't happen. I am going to give Daniel B. the benefit of the doubt that all the damage he caused was inadvertent. He was in a hurry and is obviously overworked. He's a nice guy. This isn't personal. A common online complaint from Terminix past employees is that they are expected to do too much in too little time, so they rush. But this certainly does not excuse what happened or the lack of response. When a corporation gets too large, when turnover is frequent, when employees are so disgruntled that they tell the (ex)clients like me about it, accountability, quality of service, and care for the customer go down the drain. Do not use Terminix. Read the Facebook and Yelp reviews too. [Also, Google "Terminix Cat St. Pete" if you're still on the fence]. For small pest control, try to DIY. For big jobs, perhaps search for someone local: a company who is actually a member of the Chattanooga community, cares about customers, and cares about its reputation. Someone who wants to earn your trust and business instead of hiding behind a large corporate spiderweb of deception and head-in-the-sand bad practices. read more

I waited 2 hours for them to show on a Tuesday (sitting out front of a rental). Appointment time was 5-7pm on the 15th, at 7pm it took me an additional 20 min to get someone on the phone and I was also attempting to use the online chat option. I was told that my local office didn't confirm my appointment for the meaning no one was coming. My appointment was then rescheduled to the 23rd at that same time slot. My account online shows the 23rd as my scheduled appointment too. So as luck would have it, I get a call on the 17th from the lady that actually shows up and she wants to confirm for the next day from 5-7. Not sure why they can't seem to get a schedule right... Needless to say I cancelled my service contract...lol read more

Beware of this Company! Back in February, we called Terminix to inspect our house and take care of a pest issue. Initially, the Terminix Representatives were prompt, friendly, insightful and Very Thorough. Presented with a contract, they told us the estimated cost to solve our problem would be $2000, which we paid as we were under the impression that they would uphold their end of the contract. A week later, they stopped by, unannounced, but I left work quickly to let the Gentlemen in. Knowing that they were returning the following Tuesday, I requested the day off from work as I anticipated they would be there by 9AM. By 11AM, I had neither seen the people from Terminix or received a call from them. My wife called Terminix and initially they rescheduled, but followed up with another phone call saying they would be there by 2PM that day. By around 3:30 PM, I heard a truck pull into the driveway, so I promptly opened the door as to let them in. In the course of about 30 minutes, Three more vehicles from Terminix pulled into the driveway, but they all sat in their truck for about 45 minutes before even acknowledging me. After about 15 minutes one Gentleman got out of his truck, and seemed to work, while the others watched and talked amongst themselves. Upon completion of the work that the one Terminix employee did, he came back and told me he would be back in a week. They then proceeded to get back into their trucks and once again sat there for about thirty minutes. Two months later, appointment after appointment has been scheduled, missed and rescheduled by Terminix. Keep in mind, both my Wife and I work Six days a week and have to re-arrange our childcare for our infant to accommodate Terminix. Although my wife has tried to speak to a manager several times, she is only able to leave voicemails. Terminix has even promised to have a manager and even a Regional Manager to call, but they never do. After exhausting all our resources, we requested a refund as Terminix did not uphold their end of the contract. We were told by Terminix that if we broke the contract, we would owe Terminix an additional $600. So apparently, according to Terminix, the only people that are to uphold their end of the contract is the customer, not the Company Terminix itself. As we see it, Terminix has STOLEN money from my Family. Although $2000 is not a lot of money to some, it is significant to my wife and I as we both work we work 6 days a week to provide for our family. As many of my acquaintances are also on Social media, I will also post this on every social media platform I have to get the word out about TERMINIX. We have had a successful experience with Terminix for years, but that stopped this year. Our tech guy used to call before he came, plan the visit for when we were home and could let him in the garage, and left his card so we could call if a problem arose. We received an annual bill. No notice now and no way of knowing if anyone came. The last two cycles, we received a late notice without ever receiving the first bill! Then, robo calls start BEFORE the first bill even arrives. Been trying for over a month to get someone to my house to replace the dehumidifier in my crawlspace. I had waited a few weeks for an appointment, and then the service technician never came. When I called, he was out with an injury. Fine, I'll reschedule. I've been promised a call back about 4 times now, three from the overseas call center, once when I called the head of the service center locally. Tech was supposed to arrive between 3-5pm for yearly inspection and re-baiting of the termite traps. We were home but no tech. Called the next day - call center/no local numbers available - and they informed us that the tech arrived at 3:12p and left at 3:26 having completed the job. Except the traps are not re-baited and no inspection was done. Plus I was outside and wife inside during that time. He did not show. No callback yet from the local supervisor Christopher Scott and no help from the national call center who said he may wait to call on Monday. $350 annual renew fee. I've had Terminix almost three months now. They treated my home for ants and did a fine job. Well, except that their technician didn't show up in his scheduled window and didn't call before he came. But otherwise, fine. But then. We got a more problematic pest issue. I think, "no problem - this is why I have Terminix!" I call Sunday morning and explain the problem. The rep assures me that I'll be called back to schedule within 24 hours. No call. I call Monday afternoon to follow up. The rep says, "they told you 24 hours? It's 48 hours. You'll just have to wait." No call. I call back again Tuesday morning. The rep says, "Oh, but we did schedule for service! We're coming out this Friday! Don't forget to vacuum and you'll have to leave for 4 hours after the treatment." I talk to the supervisor. She says, "oh, sorry, we should have called you." Yeah, you should have called. The service is fine, but the communication is bad enough that I absolutely won't be using their service again. read more

Warning - do NOT subscribe to the wildlife exclusion package that Terminix sells!! The initial installation went smoothly, but this year squirrels got into my attic. After a month of asking for an appointment, they sent out an unlicensed man who took a picture, agreed that there were squirrels in the attic and that the installation was at fault. I was promised an appointment to fix. No appointment. Multiple daily calls to get an appointment with promises of followup and escalation, still no appointment. Our new property was infested with hornets bees, wasps and yellow jackets. Terminix changed me 150$ before doing anything, than they got scared from large nest of the hornets and left, but the guys was nice. The thing was I just never heard from them again. After me calling the company, they did refunded my money back. They really vane just to sign up people for regular chemical sprays around house, that's easy money, but environmental impact on already collapsing honey bees numbers. I do highly recommending calling Essential Pest Control for any big problem like with huge hornets nests. Good and specialist. Also, please never let company like Terminix to use sticky traps for rodents, they are so barbaric! Many animals rip their leg off in order to try escape. We have not gotten our refund for paying up front for the service, despite the fact that we cancelled before 30 days, per the service contract. Terminix installed new crawlspace vents into my home in November. They left my house damaged and looking rough. Gobs of glue all around The vents, some vents not even installed properly, cracked the concrete around one of them that could become a foundation issue, chipped off paint off my siding, and even tore siding off the side of my house. Have called multiple (5) times only to be told a manager could not be reached and will call within 24 hrs and they never do. Sent an email that took forever to find and still no response. Terminix obviously does not want to be reached when there are concerns and give the run around so they don't have to fix the damage they do to peoples home. 4 months later and still the situation has not been rectified. For the 3rd year in a row, Terminix has disappointed. They sent me an email scheduling an inspection for a duplex I own. I confirmed this with the tenants to be certain someone would be there, who notified me no one ever showed up. Response from the customer call center is that the appointment doesn't show completed, yet I received no notice from anyone regarding an issue. Now I've rescheduled and have to go through the confirmation process with my tenants yet again. If this was regular service, I would cancel in a heartbeat. However, they did the termite treatment originally so I guess I'm stuck with them now. As in previous years, I've requested someone from the local office call me. I guess they just can't hire competent employees; that seems to be a problem everywhere. read more

I hired this company for termite prevention, and they did a thorough job. Although they were not inexpensive, I've had no apparent issues.

We had a local provider, Cat's Pest Control, who serviced our home excellently for years before Terminix took over. We then experienced a flying squirrel infestation and paid for Terminix's pricey rodent exclusion/protection services. We dished out approximately $1k for traps, basement tarps, air vent excluders, etc and not a single rodent was caught. We declined to renew their exclusion services the following year and the squirrels are still present. Very disappointed to say the least, and we definitely recommend looking elsewhere for pest control services. read more

My elderly father has been a loyal Terminix customer for 31 years! For the past two months, he has not received service. No technician has come by to spray. He is being billed for 2 months of service. However, when I spoke with Mark Patterson he stated that the technician was there and perhaps my dad just doesn't "remember" the visit since he is older. I told him that was the rudest comment he could ever make. I suggested perhaps his technician was not telling the truth. He could not believe that at all and I canceled service completely. Mark Patterson should be FIRED for what he said about one of his customers. As his daughter, I will take this to the very top of the pyramid if I have to. Don't set an Appt with them they call to see if they can do it early, late or not at all and will move it out to a different day. I wanted Saturday service they keep moving the day. RUN, DON'T WALK, AWAY FROM TERMINIX! We had a termite guarantee contract with a local pest control firm that Terminix bought out last year. Terminix sent us a notice & said they'd honor our existing contract. June 2013, our annual inspection is due and lo & behold now they're trying to change the terms of the contract. Ours has a guaranty clause for damage repair if there's ever any termite damage. Terminix will only offer a service contract ($250 annual cost) which only means they come out & look for termites. To get my current coverage I first have to pay $750 (initial contract fee) + then $250 (annual cost). Plus: no one from Terminix -- either locally or their national office -- ever returns a promised phone call. if there were ANTI-STARS or THUMBS DOWNS, I'd give them a big 5. My wife and I have lived in this house for 28 years and have never had an ant problem like we have now. We cannot combat this problem by ourselves so we decided to have an exterminator came out. I called Terminix as they are a well known company and set an appointment for them to come out and see what they can do. The man I spoke to yesterday set the appointment for today between 3 and 5. This morning there customer service called to confirm my appointment for Monday between 3 and 5. I told her that it was set for today and she told me to hold on as she tried to call the technician to see if he had changed the times and not told her, she then hung up on me and never called me back, and the technician never showed up today. This is a piss poor example of a business. Terminix, this is one persons money you are not getting. Thank God no contract was ever signed as this was suppose to be the initial visit. read more

My father in law asked Terminix to provide a quote for rodent exclusion work. They came out and talked him into an expensive (over$5000) basement dehumidification job that he did not need saying it would take care of the rats. Weeks later, my father in law was still complaining about rats. We called Terminix to do a follow up and they told him he needed to buy a dryer vent. Weeks later he is still complaining, so I call Terminix and they said they did not do exclusion work, what they did had nothing to do with rats. Fuming I asked to escalate the situation and I was told that they would leave a messsge for the local office and I should hear back within 1-2 days. 4 days later. No word. These people knowingly took andantage of an elderly man to sell him something he did not need that did not solve his problem and are now trying to absolve themselves of any responsibility! All so a salesman can meet his quota. Disgusting! Immoral! Unethical!!!! Will never do business with them again!!' read more
