The quality of the sushi is outstanding. You can tell they use premium, high-grade fish, and everything is incredibly fresh. My personal favorite is the uni, which is always excellent. The specialty rolls are amazing as well. The Terry Roll is fantastic, and the Jackie Roll is absolutely out of this world. Every roll I've tried has been beautifully prepared and full of flavor. The appetizers are just as impressive as the sushi, making it easy to enjoy a full dining experience from start to finish. Whether I'm dining alone, meeting coworkers, or catching up with friends, the food is always consistently exceptional. The service is another reason I keep coming back. Jackie and the entire staff are friendly, attentive, and genuinely care about providing a great experience. The owner is wonderful and has created a restaurant that truly stands out. There is plenty of parking, and while you can sometimes walk in, I highly recommend making a reservation because Bishoku is often busy for good reason. If you're looking for fresh, high-quality sushi, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere, Bishoku is a must-visit. Highly recommended!

Mikata is a fantastic spot for Sushi and Japanese cuisine. While in Atlanta I was craving sushi…read moreand Mikata was walking distance from my hotel so a few friends and I decided to give it a try. Boy are we glad we did! The atmosphere is upscale and modern, with elegant decor and tall ceilings with tons of light. The plating and silverware is also spot on. I ordered a tako nigiri and a Mikata sushi tower with spicy tuna and real crab in it. The presentation was gorgeous and the dishes tasted as good as it looked. I had a virgin lychee martini to go worth the meal and I left very satisfied. I'll definitely be back when visiting Atlanta

I've visited Mikata Sushi twice now, about two months apart, and I have quite a few thoughts! There…read morewere definitely some highlights, but a few things left me underwhelmed. Let's get into it! Yellowtail - 6/10 If you know me, you know yellowtail is MY FISH! I absolutely love yellowtail, and honestly, I enjoy it in just about any presentation. However, something about this one was a little off for me. The cuts were noticeably thicker than what I typically prefer. The flavor was there, but the overall appearance and color of the fish didn't give me the same quality impression I've gotten from other yellowtail experiences. What makes this more interesting is that I ordered it on BOTH visits, and unfortunately, I had the same impression each time. I wanted to love it because yellowtail is easily one of my favorite fish, but it just wasn't giving what I'm used to. Steak Fried Rice - 7/10 WOWWW! This was probably the biggest surprise of the entire experience. This is some of the best fried rice I've had in a WHILEEEE! The flavor profiles were EVERYTHING. I could actually taste the individual ingredients, but somehow everything came together beautifully. You know when a song comes on and every single beat hits exactly where it's supposed to? That's how this fried rice tasted! Now, why the 7/10 instead of higher? THE YUM YUM SAUCE. I honestly feel like it did more harm than good. The sauce had more of a mayonnaise-like taste, and I felt it took away from what was already really good fried rice. I wish I had ordered it without the sauce the first time around. I actually regret not getting it on my first visit, but I'm so happy I finally tried it on my second! Shrimp Tempura - 5/10 This one was pretty forgettable. The shrimp was very crispy, which I appreciated, but the ponzu sauce it came with threw off the overall flavor for me. Something about the combination just didn't quite come together. The flavor wasn't fully there, and while it wasn't necessarily a bad dish, it definitely wasn't something I'd go back specifically to order. Nothing particularly memorable. Margarita Roll - 10/10 YESSSSS! NOW THIS IS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! As a YELLOWTAIL LOVER, this roll understood the assignment! This is a raw roll, and the fish was SO flavorful. Everything about this roll worked for me. The flavor, the overall experience, just everything! I ordered this on BOTH visits, and both times it delivered. That's how you know it's good when you come back and immediately order the same thing again. Easily my favorite item at Mikata. If I returned, this would absolutely be on my order again. My Spending First Visit: * Margarita Roll * Yellowtail * Total: $50 Second Visit: * Shrimp Tempura * Yellowtail * Steak Fried Rice * Margarita Roll * Total: $80 Service & Overall Experience - 6/10 Now, let's talk about service because this definitely impacted my overall experience. First Visit: I'd honestly give the service a 0/10. My waiter took an extremely long time to bring out my dishes, and my yellowtail was slightly warm by the time it arrived. Second Visit: I sat at the sushi bar, and I believe one of the managers assisted me. The difference was noticeable! Not necessarily because he was a manager, but because he was attentive. You can literally see the food coming out on the sushi bar, and he actually took the time to pay attention and make sure my dishes made it to me. During my first visit, my waiter would see food come out, walk right past it without saying anything, and head back into the kitchen. I noticed that same lack of attentiveness again during my second visit. It wasn't a matter of the restaurant being too busy; it was a matter of someone taking the time to pay attention to their customers and the food coming out. I really appreciated the assistance during my second visit because it made everything move much faster. Final Thoughts Overall, I'd give Mikata a 6/10. The Margarita Roll was a 10/10 experience, and the steak fried rice was a pleasant surprise. However, the yellowtail consistency and service definitely brought down my overall rating. Would I return? Possibly! But I already know exactly what I'm ordering: that Margarita Roll!

May is the top server in all of Atlanta! Her recommendations made our evening exceptional…read more She had the chef curate a nigiri sampler which was not something i could put together on my own. Later, she counsels us to order the Black Sesame Ice Cream. This dinner went to a Whole-Nother-Level after May's selection. Just amazing. We learned the roasting of sesame seeds causes a peanut butter and slight dark chocolate flavor which is now my preferred ice cream. She chose fatty tuna, Japanese Snapper among others to create a special entree. I've been going to Tomo for years, but their game recently is raised. It's in the upper echelon of premier sushi hot spots in Atlanta. Unrelated, but the people watching here was amazing, both Jason Bateman and Sara Blakely in the same night!

We were greeted upon arrival and everyone was so nice! Their service is top tier no complaints. We ended up getting various items from their menu. Starting off with Appetizers: Hanabi was delicious, the crunchiness of the rice and the tuna was well seasoned. Murasaki Truffle Fries unfortunately were a miss for me. They landed a little heavier than I expected and I did not want to keep eating it. They could have been a bit more crispier but overall not bad. Entrees: We ended up getting their signature Nigiris (toro & yellowtail) they were absolutely delicious! Honestly what made us like Tomo more. We ended up getting their 8 nigiri entree with California roll. I would give it 7/10. Dessert: we got their chocolate crepe cake and they gave us a bread pudding. The bread pudding was a bit too eggy for me but the chocolate crepe cake was absolutely rich & phenomenal. Overall we had a great time and they offer free valet! We will be back

This is definitely a locally owned small business. I'm fairly certain the man who sat us and served us was either an owner or some form of in-charge. He was very friendly but could have used some help. It was still kind of busy when we walked in at 1pm on a Thursday and he was running around handling a handful of tables with the help of one other person we saw. I know it can be hard to afford help as a small business, so I understand. He still provided good service even though he had to rush some. He visited us multiple times. Also when we got the checks, what we owed was essentially scribbled down with Doctor level handwriting on a server scratchpad... LOL. I didn't attempt to read it but I'm confident it was accurate. Perhaps investing in a more legitimate order taking & receipt system would be beneficial haha The food was great! I loved the super crunch roll and I was satisfied with the miso soup. Everything seemed really fresh. My friend burned her mouth on the salmon she ordered lol, so be aware that it's coming out hot!! I'm obsessed with the ambiance inside and outside here. Such an interesting, liminal vibe with the old decor (but not creepy). If the owners read this, DO NOT update it. We like it!Very old fashioned. I get the sense this restaurant has been operating here for a while and that the building didn't originally intend to lease out this spot in the back as a restaurant space LOL. So cool though. I love how they got creative with the area around the front door and just the general layout inside. I love this place! I'll be back. I live nearby and this restaurant is just so cool. Some minor improvements could be made but with what I value: taste, ambiance, friendliness, local ownership... Minato hits it out of the park!!! Support your local small businesses! :)

Went out for a little birthday lunch today and decided to try this restaurant last minute for some…read moreramen. I have to say, it was a 10/10 experience, especially when it came to the customer service! I really wish I had gotten our server's name because she was absolutely fantastic, along with the rest of the staff. You go girl. She wished the birthday girl a happy birthday, and later on, she actually got the entire staff to come out and sing Happy Birthday to her! That was such an unexpected and thoughtful surprise because, honestly, nowadays you usually have to ask for birthday celebrations, and we didn't even care to do that. So for them to do it on their own made the experience even more special. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The appetizers, food, and drinks came out quickly, and everything was served with great service. The atmosphere was cute and cozy, too. The parking lot was a little full, but we did go during lunchtime, so that's understandable. I will say, the chef special does have a LOT of garlic confit in it, so you definitely have to like garlic. That said, it's not an overpowering raw garlic taste--once the garlic is cooked down into a confit, it becomes sweet and adds a really nice flavor. It's good, but definitely something to be aware of if you're not a big garlic person. The broth had a nice little kick to it. My only wish was that there was a little more meat. Overall, the customer service was seriously amazing, and I would definitely come back just because of how well we were treated.
