Had a lovely solo dinner here on a Saturday night. The restaurant was full, but the staff was super friendly and attentive. I sat at the sushi bar and watched the chef carefully prepare the sushi orders. They also have a full menu of kitchen appetizers and cooked options. I ordered the miso eggplant appetizer. It was a lot for one person, but was definitely tasty. I think it would make a delicious entree with rice as well. I had the Chirashi for my entree. The presentation was beautiful, and the fish was fresh and delicious. They give a complementary dessert of your choice, and I had the house made chocolate mousse. Oh my goodness! Everything was amazing-- service, ambiance , and especially the food! We had been there once before on a busy weekend night- without reservations-- and the staff found l us a lovely table without rushing us in the process. Bishoku is a gem: the waitstaff is lovely and so helpful! The second time we came, we asked our server for her suggestion for an appetizer, and she informed us that "hands down" their most popular dish was the tuna and salmon with roe over crispy rice cakes. This dish is --wow!! I'm still thinking about what an epic combination of flavors it is: sweet and savory, crunchy and silky. It is also a work of art. (See below ) The other entrees and soups were delicious as well, including a simple miso presented in a wooden bowl which , my husband pronounced, was "the best miso soup " he'd ever had. The sushi was fresh and beautifully presented, as was the soft shell crab entree. This time we had no dessert, but the staff offers a free small sweet dessert and the end of the meal. This restaurant has been named the best in Sandy Springs. I really can't believe I never tried this little gem before. It really is all that and more. My daughter and I went with the sushi rolls. I had the Sandy Springs roll. Crispy tuna role topped with spicy tuna. Very good. I also had the fried oysters appetizer also very nice. I brought a Teriyaki Salmon dinner home to my wife and it too was very good as well. After the food and the very good service, the main takeaway was it is a very welcoming, comfortable place. They have this very warm, comfortable bar as well that I plan on visiting next time I'm eating alone. I am embarrassed I never tried this place before. 2 hours of almost nonexistent service and sour attitudes from staff put a stain on an otherwise tasty dinner. We were a party of 3 coming together to cheer up a friend who had recently lost a loved one. One of my friends enthusiastically recommended this place, which she frequented before the pandemic. The restaurant was quaint and felt like an ideal place to unwind and forget about our troubles, even if just for a short while. We were seated promptly at 6 pm at a corner table near the front with a window view. From that point on, the evening took a bizarre turn. We felt rushed to order. I appreciated our server coming over promptly to take our order; however, we let her know that a couple of us were first timers there and needed time to review the menu. She proceeded to try and take our order several more times just minutes apart before we were ready. Our waitress then walked away, and we never saw her again. We waited about 10-15 minutes and flagged someone down, who turned out to be one of the owners, and asked to place our order. The positives -- the food came out in a timely manner, was well-executed, and a man refilled our waters before we noticed the need for more. I especially enjoyed the Agedashi Tofu and the Nasu Karashi (grilled eggplant cooked in house miso sauce). The eggplant came with three wooden spoons for sharing, and you could see the steam escape from the hot, fleshy tender eggplant. Unfortunately, aside from the water, we received zero attention from the staff, much less our initial server, to see if we needed anything, were interested in dessert or were ready for the check. When we flagged down one of the staff members to ask a question, he looked annoyed and stood 6+ feet away expecting us to tell him what we needed from a distance. When we asked another young lady if she could tell us who our server, she was unfriendly and said 'well, the owner took your order, right?'. A non-answer to our question as we were looking to order dessert and get some basic service. She rattled off dessert choices, and her attitude was the reason I passed on any sweet treats. I try to be understanding in these scenarios when staff are serving a full house; however, the complete disregard and staff attitude made this experience my first and final visit. read more

A Hidden Gem! I found this spot, while looking for dinner late one evening. It's cutely nestled in the same plaza as Cinema Springs Taphouse. What struck straight away, was the tranquil, jazz vibe and demure lighting. My server was very attentive, and helpful in my menu selections, as well & the FRESHNESS of the sushi raises the bar, IMHO, for other area sushi restaurants! My selections arrived very quickly, and left to savor them, my palate was in heaven! And lest we forget the ample wine selection, which is sure to please varied tastes. This is a hole in the wall restaurant. This shopping center is next to a busy intersection and is adjacent to a Chipotle. The shopping center looks like it was built in the 80-90s and could definitely help with a power wash. Restaurant is packed for no reason likely because there are higher concentration of people in this area. I have been to many Japanese restaurant (Japanese owned) in the area and Michelin starred in New York and LA, and this place is overpriced for no particular reason. Just having some dim fluorescent lights don't make a restaurant high end or using towel to wrap your chopsticks. I ordered a take 10 (10 small piece of sashimi) that came with no salad or soup and two rolls approximately 20 each. The total plus tip (20% on the machine is really 22% due to post tax calculation) came out to $100+. We waited for about 45-55 minutes for just these rolls and a 10 piece sashimi. The pictures attached are what we ordered you judge for yourself. Sushi mito, circle sushi, Mf sushi, ginya, Hayakawa, Tanaka seem to be better priced and have better services. Sushi is acceptable at best at least it wasn't fishy. read more

We enjoyed the decor just as much as the ambiance in this establishment, jazz played as we enter the building with a lighting that elegantly set an amazing mood for us. As our table was set we were directed to a quaint bar to the left of the main entrance, as we approached the bar we were once again greeting by the bar keep who provided us with excellent service. The food was amazing from the appetizers to the entrees and rolls. Everything we ordered was delicious and filling. We will certainly recommend to friends and will be back to try new items on the menu. Easily our new favorite sushi spot! We found this place for sushi in Sandy Springs, Georgia! We had the 20 piece sashimi, it was a chef special picks, so you really don't know exactly what you get! The pieces were too thick! We had spicy salmon roll, shrimp tempura and vegetable tempura! The shrimp tempura was good but expected a little larger, the flavor was good! Went here on a whim because I was craving sushi. First timer. Walked in right after 5p, minutes after they opened for dinner. Ambiance was so perfect. It was quiet with low light and the cutest decor. I was lucky enough to be seated by the lovely Ms. Noriko. I ordered a crunchy crab roll which was good. She suggested I try the Sandy Springs roll which I did and it was phenomenal! I was almost done eating my two rolls when Noriko brought me a small square of chocolate cake. It was still warm! She was so sweet. I will definitely be returning soon to try other things. read more

We decided to try Bishoku on a a Thursday night at around 7:50pm. We were seated promptly without a reservation but that was the end of the good experience. It wasn't super crowded but the service was soooo slow. It took our waitress at least 15 minutes to ask if we wanted a drink but by that time we were ready to order. I asked the waitress what the crunchy shrimp roll was and I didn't really get an explanation. When it came out I was surprised to find it was panko bread crumbs wrapped in rice with a thin piece of cooked shrimp on top. It did not taste good and the texture was disappointing. I asked for a different sushi roll instead (the double shrimp) with avocado added since I've never had sushi with nothing but the fish in it. The second roll tasted better but came out with no avocado. The waitress also seemed extremely annoyed and short. We felt that more attention was paid to the larger parties or the parties that had ordered more food. The chicken teriyaki took 40 minutes to come out which seemed pretty long given the number of tables sat (4 max). It was a nice sized potion but it seemed a bit unreasonable to charge $3 for a side of plain steamed rice. Our waitress brought out complimentary small slices of chocolate cake at the end which was a nice surprise. I'm not sure if this is standard or because she realized we were unhappy with the experience. Overall, we wouldn't return. I think there are better Japanese restaurants in the area, especially for sushi. read more

Really enjoyed dinner here. NIGIRI We loved all the nigiri we got from the sushi bar. We got toro tuna, salmon, hamachi, and sweet shrimp. All were fresh and delicious, sushi rice also good. SPECIAL MENU ROLLS they were apparently very popular with the dinner guests all around us, so we ordered two rolls. The DUO SALMON and the POV rolls. Both were very mediocre and i would do without them next time, and just spend the money on nigiri and sashimi. AGEDASHI TOFU i get agedashi tofu wherever i see it and this didn't disappoint. It's light, yummy and the tofu was soft and delicious, but fried nicely on the outside. I would get this again, and dipping other things into the sauce is yummy too! read more

Been wanting to visit here for 2 years now and finally decided to try their sushi. The selection of good sushi in this state is lacking so I had zero expectations. Upon walking in, we were greeted right away. We deciding whether to do the bar or table and the hostess guided us to the best seats in the quietest area. It's like she knew us! Lol. We had a little cozy corner booth and the ambiance of the area was so cute. Oh and she was super friendly and all smiles. We order the smoked salmon special, udon, beef teriyaki, an assortment of nigiri, sashimi and white rice. Normally I don't like smoked salmon but we went for it and so glad we did. The salmon had a hint of smokiness and was absolutely delightful! The caviar on top was a great compliment. Finally a legit sushi spot. read more

I normally don't give five stars after the first visit but this place hit so many marks and once again I'm kicking myself for not coming here sooner even though Ive lived in the area for several years. It's located in the same plaza as chipotle, Egg Harbor Cafe, Catch Air and a ton of other places right off of exit 25 from 285. It's a very elegant space which I absolutely didn't expect because it's in a strip of several other businesses including subway and phone repair shop and you can't see much from the outside. When you walk in it's low lighting with a cute little flower vase on each table and partitions between tables. It's not a place for big crowds but for a date night or a girls night it's perfect! Also there's more than enough parking so you'll have no trouble finding it with that which is always a plus. Every single staff person is friendly and straight to the point. It took almost no time for our food to come out once we ordered. A friend and I went and tried four different roles between us - hamachi, crunchy salmon, Jackie's and the Sandy Springs roll. Everything was amazing! I'm actually shocked by how fresh the food tasted. It's not always easy to come by good quality sushi in Atlanta. To top it off, they give complimentary dessert which was a cute surprise! This place didn't disappoint at all and might even be my new favorite sushi spot. I'm planning to go back very very soon. Bishoku has been on my to-do list for so long, and after going for dinner last night, I'm so mad at myself for not going sooner! When we walked in, my first impression was how classy it was, especially considering it's location in a shopping center. It's very small, but cozy with candlelight. We were asked if we had a reservation...uh oh. No, we didn't. The lady proceeded to tell me that we could sit at the sushi bar if we didn't. Fine by us. (Although I will make a reservation next time to sit at one of their cute little table nooks). The workers were busy, especially with to-go orders, but I feel like we were checked on just the right amount. We had the beef dumplings, miso soup, and yellowtail nigiri as appetizers, all of which were great. My husband is pretty picky about his nigiri and he said it was one of the best he's had in Atlanta. For sushi, we got the Heavenly Roll, Spicy Tuna roll, Crunchy Crab roll, and Shrimp Tempura roll. All were really good. Probably could've done with a touch less mayo on the crab roll, but that's just me being nitpicky. And finally: COMPLIMENTARY DESSERT! Who does that anymore? They gave us cute little dishes of some kind of Angel food cake at the end of our meal. So yummy and I thought this was such a nice touch that it really just hit it out of the park for me. The inside of the restaurant isn't particularly glamorous - the sushi menu was just a piece of paper in black and white small font with sushi options in a long list and the cloth napkins looked like dishrags your cleaners would use. I've seen nicer menus at Chinese takeout restaurants. Sushi rolls were all at least $16. I got 2 that were at the $20 price point (can't remember the names). They were good but not worth $20 per roll and certainly didn't feel worth the experience since the restaurant didn't feel particularly nice. I've had better sushi at a better price point. read more

The service was a bit spotty - the waitress seemed to bounce from table to table but apparently forgot to either get our order in or follow up with kitchen/sushi chef, leaving us with an abnormally long wait for our sushi. The sushi chef was quite attentive and recognized that we were waiting abnormally long - he noticed us and inquired what we had ordered and he then expedited it - we were most appreciative of his diligence.
