My friend and I dined here for lunch recently and really enjoyed it. It's located near perimeter mall in a building on 1111 Hammond drive. Parking is available in the garage and the restaurant validates parking for up to 2 hours. The restaurant was aesthetically pleasing. They have lots of options on their menu including sushi and hibachi. To start, I ordered the Japanese slipper which contains gin and midori. The drink was very pleasant. Initially, I wasn't going to order sushi, but I saw how good it looked arriving to other tables nearby. I decided on the NY strip roll and it was delicious. I also ordered the filet and scallop hibachi. The steak was very tender and everything was good overall. Although it's a bit on the pricier side (even for lunch), I'd absolutely return. The service that we received was really good as well.

Mikata is a good addition to the perimeter area; in proximity to perimeter mall, but not on the congested Ashford Dunwoody row of businesses. Located on Hammind Drive, Mikata offers two hours of complementary parking for customers in underground garage. Signage from the garage to the restaurant could be better, but allowed me to get my steps in and see other businesses in route. The ambience is well thought regarding decor and use of space. Did not notice the upper dining area, that accommodates about 30 people, until I was exiting the building. The lower area offered a combination of tables and booths and appeared sufficient for lunch crowds. Entry also had a full bar And sushi preparation station in proximity. I enjoyed my meal of a rainbow roll and Ika salad. The salad consisted of seared octopus and vegetables accompanied by a Ponzu dressing. I requested ginger dressing as that is my preferred salad topping. It was delicious; flavorful and tender. The rainbow roll was also good and consisted of salmon, yellowtail, tuna, snapper, and ono. It was garnished with a beautiful flower. I would have like the option for brown rice in my sushi, but unfortunately that option is becoming more and more rare. Hibachi offerings are also available for those who prefer well cooked food. The portion sizes were optimal as the person I dined with was satisfied with the child size. As mentioned there is a full bar and the drink menu was extensive. Opted for a non-alcoholic beverage during my lunch visit and it was refreshing. The arnold palmer combination of my companion did not measure up to usual standards, even after two attempts to correct. Overall, a recommended dining location for those in proximity. I would return again for the evening hours for comparison as the lunch hours ended at 2:30 PM, and then opened up again after five for dinner.

Excellent service, delicious food, comfortable ambiance! I dined here during a solo work trip and had such a lovely experience. My server was quick and attentive and gave great recommendation/descriptions of the cocktails. He lead me to the perfect beverage that went great with my sashimi plate. The sushi was sooooo yummy! Everything tasted fresh and the portion size was significantly larger than most other sashimi platters I've had. I really loved this meal and hope to be able to visit again in the future!

Another great meal at Mikata we had a several rolls and spicy edamame! Our server did a great job. Place has a great atmosphere we were able to talk a little business as the noise level was very good.

We stopped by Mikata for the first time recently. Located in the same complex as the Statefarm headquarters, things were very quiet when we arrived. (Around 6pm on a Saturday.) We were seated promptly. Ambience is a little clubby, with moody lighting and lively music. The menu has a variety of "standard" American style sushi rolls, some specialty rolls, and a selection of Nigiri. There was also a hibachi section, which we didn't have the chance to try. The quality of the food was good - I'm always a little skeptical of Sea Urchin this far from the sea, but it was quite delicious. The rest of the nigiri was also solid. That said, I found the price to be somewhat high for what you were getting. (Within striking range of omakase options in this area, and it's not on that level.) Sake selection was limited, but the sake that was on offer was good. Weirdly there was a more robust standard wine list. Service was friendly, but harried. We had a three course meal, a bottle of sake, and tea within 50 minutes. It was a very very rushed experience. Overall, I would recommend giving this spot a try if you're looking for something new, but I don't think that we'll return.

I came here on a Thursday night with a friend to catch up over drinks and sushi. I'd never been to this restaurant before so was excited to try it. Our server was really nice and attentive. She walked us through the menu and made sure we were hydrated. I ordered the Snow White roll and the crawfish dynamite roll. Both are cooked rolls, so if you don't like raw these are the rolls for you. They were both delicious but I did prefer the crawfish dynamite roll better. The crawfish dynamite roll is a bit messy but there are eight sushi rolls underneath the mound of awesome flavors that consists of crawfish, scallop and crab mix with spicy mayo, eel sauce and scallions. It's definitely a winner. The Snow White roll was more reserved in its appearance but tasty as well. It reminded me of the Snow White roll I loved at a restaurant called Blue Sushi in Kansas City. I will definitely be back to Mikata!

A quaint yet vibrant sushi restaurant and bar. Per my non-Vegan relatives, the fish is extremely fresh. The creative rolls and fancy presentations - edible orchids - are a decorative finish. We ordered the following: *Japanese mushroom chips *Vegetable tempura *Super dragon roll *Margarita roll *Edamame *2 Passionfruit lemondrop mocktails As a collective, we enjoyed our selections. The staff is friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The atmosphere is modern and cozy. Prices equates to the good quality of food and service. Complimentary parking up to two hours in the adjacent parking garage. Definitely worth checking out if you're craving good sushi.

My first time at Mikata was very pleasant! Our server was very friendly and cheery, the ambiance was clean and not too dark or bright, and they had free 2 hour parking at the parking deck. The food was also very good, I had the shrimp and eel roll, and yuzatini which I would recommend trying!! I also liked the yellowtail, and they made a fried soft crab appetizer with ponzu sauce for us which was very delicious. 10/10!!

After years of not liking hibachi from most places I found a neighborhood gem! As you walk in you'll transport into a luxurious feel. The host/hostess were very nice and welcoming. I sat at the bar area because it was just me without a reservation. The bartender was beyond nice and very sociable but not overbearing. I enjoyed the lotus drink, spider roll and the hibachi shrimp and chicken. It was a nice portion of food but so couldn't dare finish it all. All ingredients were very fresh. I was even able to get real wasabi (minus the horseradish). I took home the steak hibachi for the family and everything tasted wonderful!

I decided to try this restaurant for lunch. I called to place a to go order. I ordered the salmon fried rice, total $17. The food was very filling and delicious. I would order here again. There is a parking deck available. I would recommend this restaurant.

I ordered this, it was drenched in eel sauce and taste like diabetes. A random female (not the manager nor my waitor) said I had to keep it (never seen her before). I asked for manager who then came over to the table spent 10minutes spitting over the plate as he tried to explain a policy that doesn't exist (said he owned the restaurant) anywhere on the menu, website, or the restaurant. Also, this was the worst customer service ever. Zero stars wasn't my plan nor an option, you get where this is going! Lastly, they brought the check and charged us a late night gratuity (it was 9:08p) and they close at 9:30pm . They tried it.

It is a little tough to find as you park underneath (2 hrs free) and walk up. Worth the effort though! Fish was super fresh and the preparation was beautiful. Service was a bit lacking - but chefs & ingredients were on point. New & bright setting - very modern.

Mikata is a true gem in Sandy Springs! The ambiance is stylish and welcoming, drinks are excellent, and the sushi is so flavorful and fresh it doesn't even need soy, ponzu or any sauce! We tried the Rainbow Roll, Red Fantasy, and Super Dragon--each one was fantastic! They also serve hot dishes and hibachi, so there's something for everyone. Bella was our server and she was professional, friendly, and knowledgeable--everything you could ask for. The owners are hands-on, supporting their staff and warmly welcoming guests, which makes the experience even better. Great location with plenty of garage parking (2 hours free). Highly recommend!

I came in on a Saturday for a 6:15 PM reservation for a party of four. I arrived first on time and my first guest arrived at 6:20 PM. I was told I had to wait till the rest of my party arrived. I set at the bar while waiting for the rest of our party. My friend approached the hostess stand to ask if we could be seated as a party of two . Also, advised the Mexican girl that it will be only 3 but, we don't have to wait for her cause she's not gonna be eating since we're on a time schedule and was attending an event. The hostess was very rude and dismissive, stating "that's not how it works" in an unprofessional tone. Later, another hostess came over and said our reservation had "run over" at 6:35 PM, even though we were already in the restaurant before our reservation time window had passed and there were clearly open tables available. The restaurant wasn't packed at all. When we asked again about a table for two, we were told we could either sit at the bar or wait. The interaction felt very unwelcoming and unprofessional. We told the hostess we wanted a table for two to sit down and eat . The black hostess said , so you want to stay at the bar or you want a table . I said a table. She said , the bar ‍I said no a table. She then said that they could refuse service if we had an attitude, which was not the case . I simply answered her question by saying no . Told her I didn't know that saying no is me having an attitude. At that point, we chose to leave and not spend our money there due to the poor customer service and the rudeness of the hostess. Overall, the staff we interacted with on June 20th at 6:15 PM were rude and unprofessional and clearly need better customer service training. Based on this experience, I understand why there are so many negative reviews.

I went in with one clear goal: the filet mignon. Five of us ordered steaks, most medium-rare, but the kitchen execution was inconsistent across the table. One steak came out overcooked to well done, another was undercooked closer to rare, while mine was prepared correctly. Unfortunately, consistency was the main issue. The steaks had a good sear and flavor, but several were on the dry side. The highlights of the meal were the starters and sides. The crispy calamari was excellent and easily the standout dish. The crab dip was also well received by the table. The bread that comes with the salads deserves special mention as well, light, slightly sweet, and very fresh, melts in your mouth. The side salads were also great. For my entrée sides, the carrots were well prepared, but the brussels sprouts were undercooked and lacked seasoning, I like a little more flavor especially on my brussels. Dessert brought the meal back up. The apple-pie-ala-mode and brownie with ice cream were both excellent and a strong finish to the evening. Service throughout the night was very good. Our waiter was attentive, efficient, and quick to clear plates. He removed the dirty dishes quicker than a UPS driver working peak-season overtime. The only downside was the dim lighting, which made it a bit difficult to see clearly at times. Overall, while the appetizers, service, and desserts were strong, the inconsistency in steak preparation kept the experience from matching the price tag. Sorry Joey - 3 out of 5 stars

Right when we walked in, the staff complained to us that we hadn't called ahead to have a "smaller, special menu" crafted for a large party. To make matters worse, they loudly announced to the whole table right off rip that they wouldn't split checks separately--only an even split. It felt incredibly rude, lazy, and unwelcoming. The irony is that the large group size wasn't even an issue; we staggered our arrivals and the patio was completely empty. The kicker- my brother in law ended up paying the whole tab at the end anyways! so all of that initial laziness & nastiness for NOTHING! Throughout the night, the service felt incredibly rushed and stressed. While we were still eating our appetizers, the busser was aggressively trying to clear our plates because the mains were coming. Our server was very short with us the entire time, which was confusing because the restaurant didn't even have a stressful vibe. She recommended a main dish to me that I really didn't care for, though I will say the salsa was unique and probably the best part of the meal. Shoutout to the one staff member who was actually friendly, but overall, this is not the kind of place where you leave feeling like you had a nice restaurant experience- at least I personally didn't.. Too bad we didn't just go to C&S next door which we always love. The second I saw it, I didn't care about the price -- I knew I wanted it, so I planned us a date night. When we arrived, there was a birthday party going on, and I asked the maître d' if they were limiting seating because of the event. He didn't quite understand me, so my fiancée just asked for a table for two, and we were seated quickly. The setup was nice, although I'm personally not a fan of pre-set plates and glasses on tables (you never know how long they've been sitting there). Still, our server was fantastic -- attentive, helpful, and made the night smooth. We came for the famous Piraye Kebab Tray. At first, we were looking at the $165 option (Chef Tray + 1 Meze Board + Shepherd Salad + 4 Orders of Piraye Kebab with rice, all baked inside the dough). When we mentioned the price, our server kindly told us about the smaller 2-order option for $85 -- perfect! And let me tell you, Lord above, when I say I would do some things to eat this food again... words cannot describe how incredible it was. It has been three days since, and I'm still thinking about it. I even posted it on my stories, and over 10 people have messaged me asking about it. Chef Tray: Overflowing with juicy, flavorful meat, perfectly seasoned rice with chickpeas (I swear it was made with veal stock), and that roasted pepper and cheese-stuffed dough on top -- divine. Meze Board: The hummus was creamy and rich, paired perfectly with fresh pita. Shepherd Salad: Fresh, crisp, and balanced. My only small regret was that our server misunderstood when we asked for the dough crust to-go -- I realized the next day it wasn't packed up. Honestly though, I couldn't even be upset, because the food was just that good. For drinks and dessert: Turkish Coffee - small but strong, beautifully presented with a piece of Turkish delight on the side that was everything I had ever imagined a Turkish sweet to be: chewy, fragrant, and delicately sweet. Künefe - a dream come true! A warm, crunchy pastry with gooey melted cheese inside, topped with sweet syrup and pistachios. It was rich, nutty, and sweet without being overwhelming -- the perfect ending. Turkish Martini - decent, but not nearly as memorable as the food. All together, including tip, it was about $140. For the amount and quality of food, the attentive service, and the one-of-a-kind experience, it was absolutely worth every single cent. Piraye Kitchen isn't just dinner -- it's an experience. This is a must-try-before-you-die type of place. Oh, and happy birthday, Amy!

They set up multiple bars for bigger events so you don't have to wait on line for long, and they typically already include tax and gratuity automatically. They've switched to valet parking only, or at least for the event I went to. It was $15 but they say you can park for free at the Walmart down the road.

I opted to park at the Wal-Mart and wasn't as familiar with the trail so I took the street route. Well-light and populated for safe crossing. The venue is very open and was relatively empty since we arrived shortly after it opened. I love the indoor seating concept with plenty of couches, movable chairs, tables near the open-area space and smaller sections for 2-4 people tucked away along the wall. The DJ was already doing his thing and the bartenders remained busy. As someone who wasn't interested in the drinks, I appreciate that there was a self-serve water cooler in the center of the room. The Jenga and jumbo Uno cards were a hit!!!! It was so nice to have these options available. And as others mentioned, the large screen was playing a classic movie - which we could still see from inside. I didn't stay long and this was a Sunday night but the parking lot was much busier when I left. I imagine the outdoor space gets crowded later in the evening as well. The DJ was just okay - not my cup of tea - but folks seemed to be enjoying themselves. I can definitely see why this place is popular. Although parking is less than desirable, it is not unreasonable. The venue is well-lit and easy to move around. The crowd was diverse, with various ages and backgrounds represented. And depending on the DJ, this would be a great place for meeting with friends, date night or just zoning out to some wonderful music ... especially on a beautiful night. If you're in the mood for something different AND don't mind the trek to Chamblee, check it out.
