Chicken teriyaki bowl
J M.

I don't normally try places on their first day, but I've seen enough about this place that I was looking forward to the opening. I ordered the regular teriyaki chicken bowl with fried rice and vegetables. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I got the combo with a chicken egg roll and a drink. I did take out and the smell was intoxicating on the drive home. The chicken was hot, fresh, and juicy. The fried rice was very good and the fresh vegetables were crisp and tasty. They even do well dipped in the teriyaki sauce. The egg roll is much much better than many places in town. I prefer pork egg rolls, but this was a nice chicken one. If you are looking for a new place, take a chance and stop in here. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

So SLOW. Took forever to get the meal I ordered via app that said 16 minutes. Will never be back.

We were staying in Paris to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. We are early risers so our "dinner" time is quite a bit earlier than usual. We decided to try the Paradise Cafe as we both enjoy Asian cuisine. We got there around 4:00 PM and were the only people in the restaurant. We were both impressed with both the decor and the cleanliness of the dining area. We shared a couple of spring rolls that were delicious. My wife opted for sweet and sour chicken and I had the beef and broccoli. We sampled each others fare and found both to be of outstanding flavor and quality. This place is an absolute gem.

I ended up ordering a few appetizers. The Hot & Sour Soup was the standout... flavorful, comforting, and easily a 5/5 on a cold n wet day. Unfortunately, the rest didn't quite hit the mark. The shrimp rolls were below average... mostly lettuce, the shrimps were dried out, and they took about 10 extra minutes to come out. The crab rangoon was the biggest disappointment; the filling had an unpleasant smell and tasted like heavy, clotted cream cheese and there wasn't even an iota of imitation crab meat to justify that name. My friends ordered egg rolls, which actually looked pretty good (I'd say a solid 4/5), and Singapore noodles, which unfortunately looked underwhelming. Overall, there are a few bright spots, especially the soup, but the food quality and atmosphere were inconsistent. With some updates and more attention to freshness and flavor, this place could really improve.

Lots of beef and vegtables. We also got the yellowtail Ponzu for an appetizer. Perfect! My husband had white peach oolong milk tea and we got an mango / strawberry milkshake for the road. I hope they take this as an opportunity to improve. I recently tried the new poke bowl on the menu. I was VERY excited when I saw a sign that they offer poke bowls, but a bit disappointed when they did not have all the standard poke bowl toppings. No seaweed salad, pickled carrots, etc. The poke bowl was $15 - and while the flavor was good it lacked the full experience and was way too small for the price. The poke bowl place in Lexington serves a large size for only $13 and it's at least double this size, maybe triple the size. I desperately want Koi Express to offer the same style bowl as Miyako for a reasonable price. I would pay $15 happily if it was enough to fill me up and had all the topping choices. So please keep serving poke bowls - just make them a bit bigger and provide the toppings. I can't justify paying $15 for the version that is currently offered. You also need a different style bowl to serve these in - not practical for mixing. I'll be trying the ramen soon.
