I gave a five star because I wanted people to read this, this has been one of my favorite places to eat for nearly 10 years. But what happened recently I cannot unsee. I'm sitting there eating, and of course, it has very dim lighting, next thing I know, crawling up the wall next to me comes Mr. cockroach. I can't go back. I just can't. Visited Paradise Cafe recently and had a mixed experience. The space itself feels a bit dated and quite heavy... the lighting is very dark, and even moving the dining chairs felt a bit difficult. A lighter, refreshed atmosphere would go a long way. I ended up ordering a few appetizers. The Hot & Sour Soup was the standout... flavorful, comforting, and easily a 5/5 on a cold n wet day. Unfortunately, the rest didn't quite hit the mark. The shrimp rolls were below average... mostly lettuce, the shrimps were dried out, and they took about 10 extra minutes to come out. The crab rangoon was the biggest disappointment; the filling had an unpleasant smell and tasted like heavy, clotted cream cheese and there wasn't even an iota of imitation crab meat to justify that name. My friends ordered egg rolls, which actually looked pretty good (I'd say a solid 4/5), and Singapore noodles, which unfortunately looked underwhelming. Overall, there are a few bright spots, especially the soup, but the food quality and atmosphere were inconsistent. With some updates and more attention to freshness and flavor, this place could really improve. read more

This is a lovely spot. The interior boasts Asian flair. The calm overtakes you with the ornate wood carved arches and the art on the walls. We were greeted by Tony. He was attentive and kind. We enjoyed the lovers plate. Basically, an appetizer sampler. Everything on the plate was perfectly fried. The flavors were good. The Singapore noodles were not what I am used to. Ordinarily it's a green curry, there was no taste of curry. The shrimp were cooked well and it was served with a hot sauce on the plate. It wasn't bad, just not as expected. My dining partner had the paradise fish. A fried filet of fish with vegetables and a sweet sauce. She really enjoyed the meal. All in all, a good experience. We will go back and I plan to try the pho on our next trip. read more

We tried this little gem right after moving here. I loved the ambience and service. Very authentic flavor and similar to Chongs or New Asia in Paducah. Iykyk. They have legit fried rice not that yellow stuff. Tony remembered our order after one time. He explains whatever questions and its fast! This is my new go to for Chinese asian fusion. I ate here last week with a group and it was a wonderful experience. The server was extremely friendly and helpful and assisted in making menu choices when asked. The owner, a very available presence in the dining room- is named Lee and he was spectacular in making sure we were satisfied with our meals. The food was expertly prepared and delicious! The vegetables were outstanding and the entrees were all tempting. The restaurant decor was elegant and the overall experience was inviting and welcoming. All I can say is WOW ! What a great meal. My wife and I had travelled to Paris to visit Our Mims Retirement Haven for an open house. We were staying in Paris to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. We are early risers so our "dinner" time is quite a bit earlier than usual. We decided to try the Paradise Cafe as we both enjoy Asian cuisine. We got there around 4:00 PM and were the only people in the restaurant. We were both impressed with both the decor and the cleanliness of the dining area. We shared a couple of spring rolls that were delicious. My wife opted for sweet and sour chicken and I had the beef and broccoli. We sampled each others fare and found both to be of outstanding flavor and quality. This place is an absolute gem. read more

Excellent Beef Pho in Paris, Kentucky of all places. The Sweet & Sour Chicken w/ fried rice was also delish! The Shrimp Spring Rolls were large & came w/ a tasty peanut sauce. Beautiful decor, tables, soft music, hotel room in this tallest three story building in the world via Guinness Book of World Records. The family pictures & dedication to his beloved wife, whom past away really shows this family businessman's love & passion for what he does. Wish they were more busy, but it maybe due to not wanting a liquor license, which is his religion. So I have been on this journey to explore and understand Vietnamese food. It has been a long slow journey but one that in recent weeks has accelerated. I have spent the last several weekends in Paris working. About 3 weeks ago I was traveling home dog tired when I noticed this sign that I have never noticed before. AJ Paradis. But what really caught my eye was the three letters PHO. So I turn left on Main and Park and dash in to order some carryout. Since that first visit a few weeks ago I have been there often. There is a sign in the store that says Lee's Famous Egg Rolls. At least that is what I recall. The egg rolls are delicious. I had some saved in the refrigerator and my wife raided the fridge and eat them up. Big hit with the wife. Now back to my journey to understanding PHO. First time eating carry out here I was starved so when I got home I had the soup and all of these little containers of stuff. Saw some red sauce dumped it all in, saw some hoisin sauce left it out as I did with the lime. Took a spoonful and it lit me up. Now the thing about PHO as I now understand better is you can create your own experience. Now my perfect PHO is a half teaspoon of hoisin sause, I dip the tongs of a fork into the red sauce, the lime is the best so it is necessary and I do not put all of cilantro into the soup and voila the perfect bowl of PHO. The interior of the restaurant is nicely decorated and the staff is fast, efficient and friendly. The food is enjoyable and now I better know how to manage all the tiny containers that they provide. While traveling through Paris Kentucky give these folks a call. Apparently the business has been here for 20 years. However that sign I never notice is New. Kudos to whoever decided to upgrade the sign. Without it I could have easily driven past it another 20 years. Stop by. I am sure you will be glad you did. read more

We stopped here after visiting Claiborne farm. Absolutely fantastic food, and the owner stopped by and visited with us at table. We had three different dishes- the pho, the ban bo, and the Vietnamese noodles. All three quite good. Highly recommend, especially after a horse farm tour. Best Pad Thai I have e v e r eaten. First time travel to Paris, KY because of business and was told that there was not a single good place to eat there so I drove downtown and found Paradise Cafe. From the outside it looks nice and the from the inside even nicer. Place was empty but it was 3pm and I actually prefer a quiet place to eat. Greeted by a very nice, humble and quiet gentleman and ordered the Chicken Pad Thai. The kitchen is right there so I began to hear the food getting prepared by him and it smelled very good. The plate arrives and to my surprise it's beautifully plated! Of course I had to take a pic :) Upon first bite I was immediately aware that this was the BEST freakin' Pad Thai I have ever enjoyed! Finding a pho sign in a small Kentucky town seemed suspect but when our Yelp search netted Paradise Cafe, we decided to stop in. The restaurant had a wide array of Asian accents in it's decor. It was warm and relaxing. Cosy dinner jazz was playing the background. Most notable though, this place seems to be a tribute to AJ, who I read was the late wife of the owner. We ordered singapore noodles and beef pho. The plated presentation was in the order of a high end establishment - very nice. The food, although good, fell sharply from the standard quality of these dishes. Possibly the local palate guides these dishes. Anyway both the noodles and pho were quite lacking on normal spices and flavors. Also, the noodles in the pho were over cooked. Stars, 4 overall Atmosphere: 5 Presentation: 5 Food: 2.5 I would come back to have other dishes here because this Cafe has potential for greatness. And I would come back to honor AJ. Paradise lost! We went to this restaurant tonight. It was the worst one ever. One out of 3 egg rolls were burn to a crisp. I had cashew chicken. The meat tasted like chicken nuggets from Mc Donald's. The broccoli was cooked to death. I couldn't eat it. The other 3 dishes were horrible too. The cook came out in a T-shirt completely stained all over. I was in Paris for the afternoon. It wasn't the first time that I had noticed Paradise Cafe, but it was the first time that I had to opportunity to try it out. I only had time for take-out and a 30 minutes drive home. I ordered chicken phō and general tso's chicken for my fiancé. I'm a phō snob and am rarely satisfied with the options here in Kentucky. Even with the commute, this was the best soup I've had in a long time. Harry's generals chicken was still crunchy and tasted great. The ambiance is great and the owner was friendly and welcoming. This is a "Must Do!" If you're in Paris, Ky. Park on Main St (it's one way) then come in. The name is a little misleading as it's a oriental/Vietminese restaurant.... Not a cafe in the sense of the word. You'll think you're in another world! The atmosphere is pure oriental, the food is excellent, the servings are huge, and the food is 2nd to none. Best Pho in Eastern Kentucky! Whether you're visiting Paris or if you're from Lexington looking for excellent Vietnamese food, stop in at Paradise. The pho we had (for brunch, no less) was so light but so flavorful - the meat was a perfect tenderness and the soup didn't have a hint of being too oily. We didn't try any Chinese dishes, so I can't write about any of them, but if you're a phan of pho, or if you've never had it and want to see what it's all about, try Lee's Pho (it's named after his late wife, A.J., in case you see the sign on the side of the building and wonder). We were traveling through KY and staying the night at a local b&b near Paris. We saw the reviews for Lee's place and decided to give it a try. What a gem in this little town! We went with the Vietnamese items and they knocked our socks off! The spring rolls are made with the freshest ingredients and are made at time ordering and the peanut sauce was amazing. Both the pho and bin bo were outstanding, with fresh ingredients and subtle fresh herbs including generous amounts of Thai basil. This place could really be a great little gem in Paris, with a few minor tweaks. Here's what wasn't great : one overwhelmed server, forgotten egg-rolls, considerable wait time for orders to be prepared. The food itself was pretty great. I had the pho and shrimp spring rolls. Both were pretty tasty. The pho was rich and beautifully flavored, with plenty of lime, hoisin and chili sauce on the side. The fresh shrimp rolls, while arguably pretty simple to make in the first place, were also good. My parents ordered the schezwan shrimp and singapore noodles. The schezwan sauce was a little heavy for my taste and the singapore noodles were decent, if a bit underwhelming (I've tried this dish several times at various restaurants, perhaps it's just not for me). Bottom line, it's pretty good ethnic food for a small town in Kentucky. If you have a more adventurous palate, you might think this place plays it a bit too safe. read more
