Typically I do not order ramen to go because it doesn't really taste the same (stuff isn't hot enough and the portions are whack), but Zundo surprised me! 1) their to go set up for ramen separates the broth and all the other ingredients which is so smart and I wish more places would do 2) was ready in 15 minutes 3) easy and no drama ordering with Toast 4) the to go bags are NICE. 5) awesome portion size = food baby after eating! 11/9/24 My husband and I came here after hiking all day as our reward dinner. Zundo offers a unique dining experience with its robot food delivery, which adds a fun, futuristic touch to the visit. While the ramen fell short for me--it lacked flavor even with the addition of garlic oil--the sushi, especially the volcano roll, was absolutely fantastic. The sushi alone is worth returning for, showcasing fresh ingredients and bold flavors. If they can enhance the ramen's taste to match the quality of their sushi, this place would be a true standout. For now, it's a great spot for sushi lovers! What a cute spot! I do think the staff was a little overwhelmed. There were empty tables and it took some time to get seated. It was worth the short wait. The booths are big and comfortable. You sit by the conveyer belt, where sushi rolls by you. We enjoyed some really great sushi. We ordered some kitchen items as well. The ramen was good. The pork was tender and tasty. My husband and I dined here a few weeks ago and really enjoyed our dinner! We both love ramen and we're excited about a new place opening up. Zundo is in the old Outback Steakhouse location near the mall, but has been renovated to be two restaurants- one more of a casual feel and one more upscale. I ordered the veggie ramen and added a 1/2 egg and it was delicious! The noodles tasted so fresh and the broth was full of flavor. The only critique I have would be with the ambiance- it is a nice spot but feels more cafeteria/industrial than a cozy restaurant. I'd definitely go back though the next time we go for ramen! read more

Zundo is our favorite restaurant in town! Everything on the menu we have tried is fantastic. They also offer a fully vegan menu with delicious choices as well. We consistently get noodle bowls, but have tried edamame which is always fresh, the tofu buns are always delectable. The sushi rolls are fresh, awesome presentation, and very flavorful! The staff is always extremely friendly, the food is hot and fast, and everyone there is excellent. The food is often delivered on a robot with a cat face , which is adorable and a big hit. In a word exceptional. The ramen was amazingly delicious and their sushi was heads above anything I've had in Kentucky. The service was friendly and since it was on a weekday past the lunch hour, quite fast. The restaurant is on the small side and in a strip mall, next to a boba tea place, which I think they own too. I got some starter sushi, the toro uni caviar and was totally blown away. Wow, hard to find a place with uni in Kentucky but it seems to be on the menu at most places in Lexington, so topping butter sweet toro with uni is sublime. I got the spicy tonkotsu and my daughter got the shoyu ramen. The tonkotsu broth was rich and full of flavor as was shoyu though lighter and a tad more subtle. The star though were the noodles, tasting fresh and homemade. I got curry tonkatsu to go and unlike most places, it was perfectly fried and though eaten later the pork cutlet was moist. Most every other place the tonkatsu and chicken katsu are over cooked (fried) and hard and dry. This place is a great spot for sushi and Japanese food. They can sometimes be swamped, so please give them time and patients; typically, there are only two servers for the whole restaurant. All the food that they serve you is so delicious! I cannot recommend Zundo enough! Went for my birthday. Got the tantanmen ramen, extra egg, and black garlic oil plus the Katsu curry rice. Also shout out to the auntie serving us! She knew I liked spicy so she brought chili oil and recommended the togorashi shichimi spice. She even packed up my stuff to go. Shes a real one. I may live close to tekka, and Sam's sushi, but Zundos is definitely my new go to for authentic Japanese food. Tasty and fresh. Sushi was delicious; the various maki rolls (spicy tuna, salmon, eel) were all quite good. Spicy tuna packed more punch than most places, but I enjoyed it. Bad Daddy roll, topped with mango, was very tasty. Chirashi bowl had a variety of sashimi pieces, all good, served at the proper temperature (many places serve sashimi cold or near frozen; much better when the chef warms it in their hands slightly. They have a poke bowl and bubble tea fast casual ordering area or you can be seated in the restaurant and order a number of items including ramen, appetizers, sushi and bubble teas. My friend and I appreciated the cat robot that delivered each course to our table. It's just a fun little extra thing to enjoy at the restaurant. The ramen was delicious. I had a chicken based one and my friend had a pork broth based one. Both were delicious. The sushi and appetizers were were good but I'd like to try different ones next time. Service was ok. takoyaki was pretty good. But the protein of pork belly, chicken skin and chicken hearts skewer was very small. We also ordered jumbo shumai and it's not jumbo at all. It's regular size. We were expecting larger size since the menu said "jumbo giant" but when it came it was just regular size shumai. First, there are two side to this restaurant. One side is casual quick service that serves Poke bowl and makes Boba. The other side is the Izakaya style, but higher end restaurant. You can access both from the inside. I have gone here twice to experience both sides. The Poke bowl side the cashier was nice and quick and even brought me my food which I wasn't expecting since it was more a get your food at the counter style. The poke bowl was fresh and delicious and actually a pretty generous helping of both fish and rice for the price as far as Poke Bowls go. The Red Bean Moo moo drink(love the name) was subtlety sweet and creamy and nothing was overpowering which suited my tastes. This side of the restaurant is good for if your needing a quick lunch. My second visit I went to the Izakaya restaurant side which is a bit fancier. I ordered a Mango Sparkling drink which was delivered by the cat robot. Then I ordered a Wagyu Nigiri which had edible gold flakes and had a beautiful presentation. It was not the best quality of Wagyu so a tad bit greasy in my opinion. Next, I ordered the O-Toro Nigiri and this one melted in my mouth which is perfect. Last two things I ordered were the Mentaiko Zucchini(mentaiko is usually spicy fish eggs, this one had mayo mixed in it tasted like) I enjoyed this item but it could be spicier as mentaiko usually has a tiny bit more kick to it. The other one was Torikawa, this one was disappointing as I was expecting it to be a crispy chicken skin on a stick but it was a very greasy burnt tasting chicken and was not the best. Boba and smoothies were great. Ramen is very good. There are several specialty sushi rolls however my only complaint is the staff was not willing to accommodate any sushi roll changes for me, even though I am pregnant and unable to eat most things in their rolls. We were informed that they cannot make a basic shrimp tempura and rice roll even though all of the ingredients are on their menu. I would go back for the ramen which was delicious but maybe after the baby is here, as they were very unwilling to accommodate any changes requested. read more

I have had a few sushi options in previous visits and she loves her ramen bowl. On this visit I realized we could order from the póke menu next door. I had just got done shopping at the mall, and figured go look at the menu. They were very nice and got me a glass of water while I waited for them to make it. They had it ready in good time, and was very good when I ate it at home watching tv. Last time I got ramen dine in with a friend for Lex Vegan Week, and was good as well! I like how there's 2 parts/ rooms to the place with poke bowl on 1 side, ramen on the other side. Poke side feels a little more casual, ramen is definite dine in feeling.
