In an effort to expand my lunch options in Georgetown, I stopped by OEC Japanese Express on Friday afternoon. If it wasn't for seeing previous reviews on Yelp, I would have continued to overlook this place! What a great 'hidden gem' in Georgetown! You can get take-out or dine-in. I originally planned to get take-out because I was just expecting a little building with a counter, but was surprised by the dining area with several booths and tables! So, I stayed. I ordered the Hibachi Shrimp lunch combo, which also comes with veggies and fried rice. Price? Just under $8 -- which is about how much you can expect to pay for lunch anywhere. After ordering, I sat at a table for about ten minutes before my hot, delicious lunch was brought to me. The shrimp was delicious, the veggies were scrumptious, and the rice was pretty good too. I've had better fried rice in other places, but I'm not complaining about this one. I was also given a bottle of yum-yum sauce. I didn't like it, but to be fair, I'm not a sauce person -- so my opinion is very biased. (FYI: I had a conversation with another diner who said it was a very good sauce.) I do wish there was a bit more of the shrimp in the platter, but the rice was more than enough! I brought the leftover rice home for a late-night snack the following evening. Still delicious, then! I'm psyched there is an affordable spot for lunch in Georgetown that isn't chicken, like everywhere else. I'm already excited to come back and try more options!

I stopped in here by accident while looking for a new place to dine. Being the Yelper that I am, I like to find and discover new places. This place is located beside the Gtown Kroger in the next little plaza. The place was very clean and not busy at the time which was perfect for me since I was just grabbing food to go. The lady took my order and popped into the back. She helped prepare the food. I ordered chicken hibachi with extra Yum yum sauce. It was really cheap and huge portions. I was really impressed. I want to go back sometime and try their sushi. That will be my next post. Stop in and see them. Their food is legit folks.

The food here is always fresh! If you enjoy sushi, this place is really good. My favorite thing is the hibachi chicken. Huge portions of food. I always have left overs for the next day. Helpful hint: call your order in ahead of time and tell them you want to eat it there if you're pretty hungry or in a hurry

I was in the mood for some sushi, however I didn't know what I liked because I had,had sushi from another place and didn't like it, but I found this place on yelp and it looked delicious!!! I drove an hour to find this place and fell in love!!! I tried the tempura shrimp roll and the crab crunch roll, the prices are low and you get good food. I will be returning often. Also every employee I've met in my trips there were ever so kind.

If you're looking for a simple meal that's flavorful and filling then OEC is the spot. I usually get the YakiMesi which is just egg fried rice and a meat of my choice. Its healthy and tasty. Their miso is great! But, probably my favorite thing about it is they have a great music selection going on inside! Lots of classic rock I've been coming to OEC since they opened.

Located in the new Kroger area of Georgetown, this place is unlike any other in the area (that I know about). It reminds you of a takeout kind of place, but actually it's a hibachi kind of place. No, you can't see them making the hibachi and sushi items in front of you, like you do at your average hibachi Japanese steakhouses. But here, you pay a fraction of the cost. There is a menu overhead, but if you grab a paper/takeout menu at the counter, you will find more options and the pricing. Most of the sushi rolls are divided into 8 pieces and vary in prices. You can get the two roll special for $7.95 or the pick three for $9.95. There isn't much description of what each roll entails, so you have to know your stuff. I split the pick three and my choice was the crunch crab roll. I don't know much about sushi, so I wasn't sure what it turn out to be. It turned out tasty... the crab wasn't a piece of imitation crab, it was some sort of mixture concoction and it was topped if crispy crispers that I don't know the name of (told you that I don't know my sushi). I had to at least try a hibachi option and I decided to go with the scallop and shrimp option. It comes with a side salad that they give you while you wait the short time that it takes for your hibachi to be ready. Both the salad and the hibachi meal are served in Styrofoam to go like boxes... know that ahead of time and don't knock them for it. People who like their food items to be divided will appreciate that the meat option, fried rice and mixed vegetables are all divided.. at least mine option were. The scallops weren't the larger ones that you get at the hibachi steakhouses. The ones here are small scallops. I will say that for the extra few dollars to add the shrimp, was a bit of price hike. There were probably four shrimp... they were good though. No, it's not a Japanese steakhouse, but it's better than your average fast food takeout place. Georgetown is lucky to have it and I can see myself making the drive up from Lexington to come back.

Mediocre at best. It's a curious little place that never seems to have any help. I'd pass on it.

I ordered some hot sake and green tea to start off. It was frigid outside. The seaweed salad I ordered was good but the miso soup that I didn't expect that came with my order was some of the best I've had. The other salad that came with the soup wasn't great. It honestly had little flavor, but that's ok because everything else was good so far. I ordered some sushi and a beef dish for the main course. I thought the dragon roll, fried shrimp tempura roll and an eel roll sounded good tonight. I also ordered the Yakiniku beef stir fry dish. I know what you're thinking, but I haven't eaten all day. So back off! lol Everything I had was delicious. Lots of flavor. The fried shrimp roll was my least favorite, which is unusual since that is one of my go-to rolls. As for the service, she wasn't very attentive. I had to get the sushi chefs from behind the bar to help me a few times. It wasn't busy, but she may have put the priority on the bigger table she picked up. I'm a good tipper so this may have been a mistake. No worries...don't get yourself all worked up, I'll get her taken care of. Overall, I think tonight's meal experience was a hit. I'm happy with most everything I tasted. I would definitely recommend and come back here again.

It tasted like it was old the smell was off and temperature cold. We've never seen the hibachi station open, but this was the worst the buffet had been. On top of that the server on our most recent visit stood over our shoulders pointing to the tip line item asking for the largest possible tip and WOULD NOT LEAVE our table as we finished dinner and were signing the check. She was watching pointing for more and more tip pointing to the bill and going as far as patting our shoulders awkwardly asking for more money more money. It felt very inappropriate and we wondered if they did this to everyone or were singling us out for money. The physical touching was too much. Not a place we want to return to. Several of us woke up sick the next morning after eating here and I've never had a server demand +++% tips as loudly and uncomfortably as this last experience. Would suggest a family night out elsewhere.

We used to always to hibachi but these days I prefer the quiet of the restaurant side. This trip I had the tempura shrimp and the hubby had pad thai with hot sauce on the side. I had never had the tempura shrimp as an entrée, and while it was a little but much of fried with a side of fried, it delightfully fried. Lightly battered with an panko coating on all the shrimp and veggies. There was a sweet dipping sauce, but since the hubby had the siracha based sauce on the side I had some heat to go along with this. This came with a side of fried or steamed rise and a soup or salad. I had the soup but asked for the clear hibachi soup instead of the miso and that was no problem. I either drink beer or wine here. It just seems easer than looking for a mixed drink and they have kirin ichiban, that I love. They also usually have hot and cold sake. Overall, the place does have a bit of wear and tear but I do think you get good food quality for the price.
