This is a good Asian market. It has a variety of products but leans more Korean. You will find a good selection of produce and a excellent selection of kimchi with a lot of different varieties here; quite a few prepared Korean side dishes; an array of snack foods; and plenty of your staples (noodles, soy sauces, dried beans/mushrooms, rice, flours); etc. They also have a few beauty products and a selection of housewares. If you are looking for a good Asian market, make sure to check them out. read more

Dong Yang Market - New menu - Grocery Near Me - Lexington, Kentucky

I visited this establishment on Monday, 4/21/25 during the evening rush hour. This is a small store in a strip mall and parking was easily accessed. Upon entering the store, I passed two staff members, neither of whom replied to me when I said hello, even though they exchanged eye contact with me, so I know they heard me. I was in search of only one item, Thai Basil, to accompany my homemade Pho Ga. I did not browse the store, I went straight to the produce section, and of the four available packages of Thai Basil, I found only one that was semi-acceptable. It did have several leaves which would have to be discarded, but I needed this item and this was the second store I visited for this item, so I decided to purchase it as is. The cost of one small package of Thai Basil was $4.00, which is very high for the quantity, especially compared to other Asian Markets. Overall, with the lack of good customer service, the high produce price, and the poor quality of the produce, I will not be returning to this store. read more

Absolutely amazing. Food was delicious. Had ramen, onigiri, and a Korean corn dog. They have a lot of other stuff and everything looks super fresh. read more

Awesome Asian grocery store! I found a variety of interesting sweets from different Asian countries here that all ended up being delicious. Staff were also friendly and there was a nice vibe in there, like everyone was as excited as I was to be shopping. I'll definitely go back to try a Korean hot dog someday! read more

This is probably my favorite asian market around. They have so much good stuff. The kimchi is fresh and delicious, the service is always nice. The onigiri has never failed me and they have korean corn dogs and tteokbokki and a whole ramen bar. It's well organized and it's just fun and nice to shop in. The radish kimchi is my favorite. Also dont pass up the salmon onigiri. That salmon is soooo flavorful! It's also not bad pricewise. I will be coming back! read more

Dong Yang Market - Order up front and eat in the back it's very clean. - Grocery Near Me - Lexington, Kentucky

Not a bad sized Asian market. The Seki Korean restaurant is at the back. I saw my favorite honey twists, spicy shrimp crackers and even our favorite Sichuan peanuts too. I also bought a barley tea since the water at the restaurant. They also have tuna and crab salad samgak (triangle) kimbap (seaweed rice). Neither were so good. Bland too. The barley tea is good, as expected. read more

Extensive selection of homemade banchan and kimchi. It's hard finding a good white kimchi, and I will attest that theirs is tasty! Did not try the cafe in the back, but the grab'n'go onigiri was delicious! Will definitely be back when I'm over that way. read more

Dong Yang Market - White kimchi - Grocery Near Me - Lexington, Kentucky

Tried the Korean Fried Chicken. Super flavorful and juicy. Only three complaints: Hate the radish on top, it's very salty (so it'll be hard if you don't have a drink), and the seasoning, while well seasoned, it's coated on the outside and not within the breading, so sometimes if you hit an overly seasoned patch, it's either overwhelming or gritty. Still love it here! read more

So we had the Korean corn dogs. I will be back. I love this place so much. I've been many times. The Korean corn dogs are spectacular and your tummy will like it. Your taste buds will thank you. Your heart will dance. Your dreams will soar. One of the best foods I've ever eaten. read more

My go-to Asian market in town. They specialize in Korean ingredients but also have tons of Japanese ingredients and few other things. I mostly go for their banchan, which they have a large selection of. I also go for the mushrooms, specifically maitake (hen of the woods). They always have pre-prepared meals and onigiri too. I go literally every week for the essentials. read more

The Korean hot dogs I got the original mozzarella and the hot Cheetos one with mozzarella and they were both absolutely delicious and the place was very clean and where you would get the hot dogs was very pretty and a whole vibe, and the people were very nice and friendly. I will be going back and it was amazing. I found out about Korean hot dogs when I was in Louisville but I don't live around there so this is the next best thing!!!! read more

After being away from Lexington for a few years, I came back to try this place again as it had been one of my favorites in town. I was disappointed to find out that either the quality and taste of the food was not as good as it was 2 years ago, or after traveling around Asia and eating real Asian food this just could not compare. My go-to favorite Korean dish, the kimchi jigae, was bland and lacked any spices. I don't think I'll return. read more

Dong Yang Market - Our haul - Grocery Near Me - Lexington, Kentucky

This is my first time in the store/ restaurant. The store was compact with a variety of items that tended towards Korean and Chinese offerings with a few items from other South Asian countries. Specifically, I found a Massaman curry mix, one of my favorite Thai curries. We ate lunch in the restaurant, which continues full dinner menu with 1 daily $7.99 lunch combo option. The food was not as spicy as I am used to. I imagine the flavors have been adjusted downward to accommodate local tastes. Still, a good and pleasant meal in an empty restaurant with an attentive waitress. read more

For me Dong Yang is where I go for my Sriracha, Sambal, things of that nature, a variety of noodles. They have Japanese eggplant as well which is usually not available in your basic supermarket. Oddly, too, they sell Café du Monde coffee from the famous café in New Orleans, and cheaper at $6.99 than anywhere else, if you can find it. These are some of things that I find worthwhile to me at Dong Yang. Go, explore the shelves, and find something new and out of your comfort zone. read more

I love this place but really pricey I come here a lot and i want to try the restaurant in the back of the store and its clean and tidy

A not-so-small restaurant hidden in the very back of an exciting Asian food store. Don't let the hidden factor render the flavor these dishes pack. I solely recommend this place if you also not want a public display of your love for Korean food. Be a glutton and eat authentic Korean food until your gut explodes from over-eating. Enjoy. read more

Probably one of the cleanest Asian food store in Lexington. It's not very big and there is a restaurant behind the store (which I would like to try one day). When you go to the back of an American grocery store you will find fried chicken and meatloaf. When you go to the back of this grocery you find bib im bop, ban chan and other Korean favorites. I like fried chicken, who doesn't, but how many fat Koreans have you ever seen. Ok, besides Psy. This grocery was the cleanest Asian market of any kind I've ever been in. Floors, walls, ceilings all very clean. Someone cares a great deal about this place. My only suggestion is that I wish they had a lunch menu. Slightly smaller portions for a little less. I usually have lunch alone and these portions are huge. I don't mind having two pounds of leftover pork bul goke so this isn't a hanging matter. read more

Very tasty Korean food. I got the ja jang myun and my partner got the stone pot bi bim bap without beef. We had enough food for leftovers and the prices were comparable to Koreana's; I think my dish was $11. Waiter was helpful, explaining what each of the little dishes were that he brought out before our meal. I particularly liked the cabbage kimchi, the black beans, and a sweet radish dish. Service was quick and my ja jang myun was awesome. The waiter wasn't too sure what kinds of meat were in it, and the menu didn't mention meat at all for this dish, so be warned. It definitely had tiny shrimp in it and I think pork and also squid, from the texture. The waiter agreed squid was likely because he said they put squid in a lot of their dishes. The only tricky part is if you're a vegetarian, because most dishes come with beef or pork. The bi bim bap can be made vegetarian and I think vegan, but even dishes that don't mention meat like the ja jang myun come with meat in them. I didn't see any chicken dishes listed. I appreciated that the meat in my dish was very finely chopped, so I got a good mixture in each bite. The noodles and the brown sauce were very tasty. The menu is smaller than Koreana's. The food is tastier than Arirang Garden's. I would put this place on par quality-wise with Koreana and Han Woo Ri. Very pleasant, clean atmosphere in the restaurant, which is in the back of the grocery. We had fun browsing the grocery after we ate and I found several neat Asian candies for reasonable prices. read more

As a restaurant, I felt priveledged to have a friend to take me here(it's hidden in the back of the grocery store). I was very pleased with my vegetarian version of BiBimBop with tofu. The gochujang sauce wasn't as spicy as I've had with the Vegan Zombie recipe(from youtube). The sauce was in a container at the table so you could add as much or as little as you desire. The three other people that I was dining with also ordered BiBimBop and commented on the delicious seasoning of the beef. read more

Dong Yang Market - My vegetarian BiBimBop with the appetizers in the center. - Grocery Near Me - Lexington, Kentucky

New street food is pretty good- soy garlic chicken is a must, onigiri available at front is great, everything else is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ . Cheese on tteok bokki tasted plastic-y and burnt. Corn dogs with sauce additions were really heavy on stomach. I really like this place but staff has never not had an attitude when helping me or my friends lol I always feel like I'm bothering them read more

It had all of the Japanese items we were missing from our pantry. Additionally they sold onigiri at the counter.

Supermarket was clean and choices aplenty. We tried the restaurant at the back. Excellent Korean food. Very Authentic and homestyle. Side dishes were aplenty and very tasty; every single one. Seafood pancake was amazing, light and airy. Much better than Arirang Garden's. Jam pong was very good and loaded with seafood. Broth was delicious. Pork bone soup had a very nice flavour. Only thing that stops me from giving 5 stars is that there was way too much potato in the Pork bone soup, with not enough meat and soup because of that. Will definitely be back to try other dishes. read more

We were there today and had four bowls of deliciousness. My main take away (Besides the food being AMAZING, both during M-F lunch and over the weekends) is that the staff is absolutely, without question, stand out among other restaurants in town. Their diligence to ensure you are satisfied, understanding and generosity goes above and beyond. You absolutely will not find another restaurant in town where the staff is more appreciative of you being there and fully ready to show it. Proud to have this place in Stonewall, a few streets from my house. This restaurant and market ROCKS. read more

Good asian market! You can find a lot of basic needs for Asian cooking. I really enjoy finding random stationaries and home goods here as well. I can't say no to a nice tea set or fancy chopsticks! Regretful that we didn't get to try the restaurant in the back since it was a Sunday. Market has a decent selection, but the prices are through the roof! Disclaimer: Make sure to check and double check the price! That is if it's posted at all. A lot of them had missing tags while some stuff we bought rang up as a completely different price posted. When we asked the cashier- his excuse was that a lot of kids come in and move things around. Really? I understand if one or two items were misplaced in a different pile, but we're talking about the entire section! When those kids come in next time, make sure to stop them to... hire them... cause they got some great stocking skills! Perhaps I can advice DY to properly check the stock and update the prices? Thanks. read more
