General Tso Chicken, dinner portion. Heaping side of rice not pictured.

Has been a go-to date spot for me for going on over two decades, used to take any shawty I was interested in here and now it's in regular rotation for my fiancée and I. Food is always great. I used to go for lunch more often as the portions at dinner are more than I need but they took my partner's beloved chicken and green beans off the lunch menu so now we tend to favor dinner. Can't recommend the Singapore Mei Fun enough. Servers are always doting, I usually get water instead of soda here as they always keep the water topped off and IDK it just fits the vibe.

It's on the outskirts of town, but it's a very nice place inside, and they were doing good dine-in and takeout business when I stopped by, though I was awarded a seating deck to myself. It has kind of an old-school American Chinese vibe with bustling and efficient service, but what makes this restaurant notable is that they have a large vegetarian selection, with some tofu, vegetables, noodles, and such, but also something they call "kwachic". They say it's a vegetarian chicken substitute but they don't say much more (and it must be their own term because I've never seen that word elsewhere). I assume some combination of wheat and soy. "Kwachic" has a slightly fibrous texture, but is much more uniform than animal products tend to be (in my very limited experience). It doesn't have any particularly strong flavor, so it has to be cooked right. I got mine double cooked, which came with a nice variety of vegetables and a sauce that was light in flavor and only the tiniest bit spicy. I also got some potstickers with vegetables inside, and some hot tea. Indeed, the tea was so hot that I did singe my tongue significantly, though this experience paled in comparison with the burn I got from my fortune cookie at the end (see picture). They had some interesting Malaysian style items as well. I would be happy to try some and see if they can kick up the spice level.

Sub-par experience. It must have been an off night as the meals were mediocre at best. They seem to be on the pricier end but don't warrant that bump. The Mongolian beef was just soupy. General Tsao's plain and uneventful. Even the fried rice was just steamed rice with some soy tossed in it. Save yourself the headache and go to Cheng's or New Peking. That being said, the wonton soup was good and the front take out order stand was polite. They just don't have great food this time around!

So I think I have officially found my favorite restaurant in Lexington. Wow. Asian Wind is great!! We were greeted warmly and promptly sat. They have booster seats for y'all w kids! We ordered 2 lunch specials and 2 appetizers. The potstickers were ok nothing extraordinary. Same with the spring rolls. Would still order them but nothing that stood out. The vegetable soup was divine! The broth was very flavorful and the veggies were crisp but perfectly cooked. The entrees were sesame kwachic (a chicken replacement, seemed to be like seitan) and vegetables with garlic sauce. Both dishes were excellent. We are looking forward to trying more kwachic dishes! It was so yummy. I included a pic of the inside for you! The service was great and kid friendly too. My daughter is a picky vegan kid so she only wanted steamed plain tofu and they accommodated that request for us! Already talking to my husband about when we can come back don't even care it's on the complete other side of Lexington.

Great ambience, sat in the little patio area inside, cute little rock pond with waterfall. Great food and service. Ordered oolong tea and it was fabulous.

Received raw chicken in the sweet and sour chicken. My five year old is now sick and throwing up. Will not be back.

Bang bang shrimp was soo good and generous portion. This was my first time getting Dan Dan noodles!! I'll be a fan for life if this is how they always taste! . I would suggest not getting both at same time way different flavor profiles with that being said don't sleep on this place high recommend n inside was nice n clean.

3rd times the charm--I've ordered food from here 2 other times but forgot to leave a review. Ordered delivery on Tuesday night after craving Chinese food all weekend. The delivery was so fast I was surprised when the doorbell rang! Otherwise, the food was average. I was surprised to not find any vegetables in the fried rice I ordered with my Sesame Chicken and Shrimp with Green Beans. The egg rolls were small. Super convenient location but not sure I'll order again.

Love the food! Portions are too large for me, don't like to reheat! Always attentive and nice place to eat or to go.

Chicken Kung Pao was the blandest chicken I've ever tried to eat. I was unable to eat it due to the lack of flavor.

The chicken had just the right amount of spice where you noticed it but it didn't overpower the food. A co-worker had the Pad Thai and it looked delicious as well. There is an extensive menu and if I lived near there I'd be trying something different on a regular basis. As for the ambiance, it's a small little restaurant in a strip mall where you will overlook it if you don't know what you're looking for. Not much parking but it wasn't overly busy either. Nothing fancy here but it was clean and with how good the food is, it doesn't need to be fancy. The service was what you would expect. The waitress checked on us regularly and was friendly.

All that to say this was one of the best dishes of chicken rice I've ever had. While I didn't realize that it's a portion for the table, I made every effort to eat it all and was left happily defeated. Now back in the hotel, I'm lying recumbent as I nurse a food baby and am grateful to have leftovers sitting in the fridge, for either a midnight snack or savory start to my Sunday. The food came out relatively quickly. The place was extremely clean and well-lit, and the young lady who took my order was extremely professional and cheerful. Overall, I would give this my strongest recommendation and will make a point to return even if doing so would require its own trip or a significant detour from another route. Great stuff!!!

And their Kung Pao tofu delivered all that I could have hoped of it. A packed full container of finely cubed fried tofu (one hack for anyone that doesn't know how to make tofu taste good: you should probably cut it smaller to give it more surface area to absorb whatever sauce you're cooking it in) as well as some diced carrots, baby corn, and quite a lot of peanuts in a brown sauce with just a bit of spice. I also got some sesame noodles, which is one of the more basic versions of the dish I've had, which is basically just noodles with a dollop of spiced peanut butter to spread around and coat them with. This probably sounds like a dig, but it's pretty satisfying and the noodles themselves had a nice soft texture. It was, as I would expect, a ton of food for the money. Basically the whole interior of this little building was devoted to what looked like a clean and organized kitchen. Fancy? Authentic? No, but American Chinese cuisine is a subculture of its own, and this seems a good example of it. I definitely think it would be worth returning to try their other tofu dishes.

I'm sitting there eating, and of course, it has very dim lighting, next thing I know, crawling up the wall next to me comes Mr. cockroach. I can't go back. I just can't. All I can think about now is that under that dark table there are roaches crawling around on my feet, up my leg, and down the wall. I was terrified they were crawling into my purse.

I ended up ordering a few appetizers. The Hot & Sour Soup was the standout... flavorful, comforting, and easily a 5/5 on a cold n wet day. Unfortunately, the rest didn't quite hit the mark. The shrimp rolls were below average... mostly lettuce, the shrimps were dried out, and they took about 10 extra minutes to come out. The crab rangoon was the biggest disappointment; the filling had an unpleasant smell and tasted like heavy, clotted cream cheese and there wasn't even an iota of imitation crab meat to justify that name. My friends ordered egg rolls, which actually looked pretty good (I'd say a solid 4/5), and Singapore noodles, which unfortunately looked underwhelming. Overall, there are a few bright spots, especially the soup, but the food quality and atmosphere were inconsistent. With some updates and more attention to freshness and flavor, this place could really improve.
