We order takeout from Tequila's often. My wife is recovering from an illness so we are less likely to go dine in the restaurant. Tequila's is not fancy Mexican food, but we find it to be very consistent, fresh food that is always tasty. Never a bad experience and always ready when I get there to pick it up. The staff there is always super nice. Every order gets a healthy portion of nacho chips and salsa - and the salsa is a thin salsa the way I like it - not overly chunky. So disappointed..normally our go to for Mexican, but now they aren't a full service restaurant with complete wait service. We won't be going back. The Columbia Tequillas did the same thing a couple of years ago and I won't go there to eat in anymore there either. They raised the price of their Sunday buffet. Which is fine but the food should reflect the price. Majority of hot food was cold to Luke warm at best. Food was good, would have been much better if it was hot. Staff was great as always. read more

Party of 7 was seated immediately inside and the service was very speedy from chips, salsa, and water arriving. We had three separate checks, 2 pitchers of margaritas, and a variety of entrees (basically the same seven ingredients arranged differently). All were served within a reasonable time frame and generous portions. Margaritas are strong and everything tasted good except the chili relleno which was terrible--a greasy soggy not very tasty mess. Old faithful! This is our go to local Mexican restaurant. DRINKS: The Margs are not weak like some other chain restaurants. If you like them a little less sweet go with Cadillac and if you like flavored ask for strawberry banana on the rocks ( it's not on the menu but it's amazing.) The prices for drinks are no bad here, but if you're looking for a even better deal go on a Thursday for the pitcher special. APPS: Our faves AKA everyone's faves- cheese dip, guac, queso fundido. FOOD: Ben and I usually share a entree and a pitcher of margs here. Some of our faves are the fajita quesadilla steak, Guadalajara special, pollo loco, and steak street tacos. If we aren't sharing we like the burrito al carbon steak. We have pretty much had it all here and it doesn't disappoint. SERVICE: The food is always quick and hot. Service is good too. ENVIRONMENT: I like the Waterloo location because of the covered patio. Columbia has some seats outside now too, but I'm not sure if that is permanent. BRUNCH??? Stopped in on MLK day. The food was great and at a good price. The chips were fresh and hot. The salsa had great flavor with just the right spice and hotness. My son really enjoyed his Monster Steak Burrito. It must have been delicious because he tried to eat the whole thing, which is enormous. My husband said his Enchiladas Suprema was delicious too. And, I really enjoyed the flavor of my Chicken Chimichanga. The molted chocolate cake is good, but their flan is delicious! read more

I saw the negative reviews, but I'd disagree. Maybe we got lucky, but we really enjoyed everything. Margaritas were great. The Pina Colada was great. The chips were great. I suppose the salsa was reminiscent of Casa Gallardo's (back in the day)....watered down and kinda "cheap", but still tasty enough, so I guess that would be the blemish for us. Fajitas for 2? Woulda been plenty for 4! So happy with how those turned out. Bonus....ask for the hot salsa. It's not outrageously hot, but it is very flavorful. And the waitstaff was great. Even the bathrooms were extremely nice. We really enjoyed ourselves today. Good job. read more

Coming from California and being a mexican american, this place is sadly not serving authentic mexican food. I will say their chips were delicious. I had the burrito suiza... all I can say is false advertisement!!! What i was served was a tortilla with only meat drizzled with melted quezo dip and beans on the side. I have eaten at Teliquias before and really enjoyed it. Last night was not one of those times. We showed up at about 8:30 (they close at 10) and wanted to grab a snack. We ordered guacamole, 2 orders of cheese dipping sauce, and a burrito dinner to share. When the server found out that we were not all ordering a dinner, you could tell by the look on his face that he was writing us off. Sure enough, he dropped off the items we ordered, stopped off 30 seconds later to ask about the food and then disappeared. We did not see him again until he dropped off the check. He didn't stop by to check on us, didn't offer to refill our drinks, and didn't offer to refill the chips so that we could finish the food that we had ordered--you know the guacamole and cheese sauce that require chips to eat. The server simply vanished. This was, without a doubt the worst service I have ever had at a restaurant. You might want to consider one of their other locations. read more

I loved tequilas at one point. We even had our rehearsal dinner here. Since the new building it hasn't been good. Prices are $4 more. My son and I just ate there and it was $30. The buffet isn't the greatest but I love cheese sauce and they didn't have it this time. No direction. I'd say are time of going there is over. Never going back to this restaurant ever again after finding Casa Romero (old DQ) just down the road. Honestly I'm not sure how tequilas stays open with them as their immediate competition; their food is so much better, and their prices are super fair. In a nutshell tequilas food isn't very good, at best, and they always mess up a call in order for take out...always. Their workers at the front most of the time seem agitated/grumpy, sometimes making you feel like a inconvenience. Overall, the handful of times we gave this place a chance it was a very underwhelming experience. This place sucks. I've had better service at McDonald's than I've had here. I ordered a monster chimichanga and there was a hair in my food, instead of apologizing and offering to discount my meal, they responded extremely rude and acted as though this incident was my fault. I hadn't even eaten three bites. The service was terrible and barely anyone spoke English, and I had to pay full price for a meal and then extra to fix their mistake that totally ruined my night out. I have never posted a negative review. Waterloo Tequilas is worthy of my time. I consider myself a regular as I pickup food about 3 times a month from them. Unfortunately I am done. Today I placed a to go order and this is the 3rd time in a row my order has been wrong. I called to request a refund for the items I did not receive and they refused!! Not only was my order missing items, the tacos only had meat and lettuce, no cheese. I also inquired about this and the manager told me he forgot. I will never ever go back. Done.
