We came here by using yelp when we were looking for new racquets. The place is pretty small but they have great high end racquets for sale. However, it was out of our price range (140-200) without strings...and for BF as a beginner he doesn't need a s super expensive racquet. Ravy (?) the owner gave him some tips on how to hit the ball. Tennis zone is a great place to buy tennis gear, get your racket strung (they do all my rackets), get tennis shoes (they don't have tons of choices but they have a wide range of sizes for the brands they sell and they are great brands -- I love the shoes I bought from them. Also wristbands, tennis bags, hats, everything tennis. Very friendly, knowledgeable staff, they even introduced me to other tennis players, round-robins and events in the area. Their balls are on the pricey side, but I'd much rather give them my business than Bezos (Amazon)! read more

Was looking for a good tennis shop in DC for re-stringing and TZP is above and beyond. They were very knowledgeable about every aspect of tennis. The first time I went, there was some miscommunication about my racquet but Jose was incredibly responsive and took care of everything (customer service is something I truly value, and TZP definitely has that). Because of that, I went back a second time for restringing and I was also looking for a new racquet. They were incredibly knowledgeable about the demo racquets and listened to how my style of play was and gave great suggestions on racquets to try to meet my goals of play and I ended up buying a racquet I had used to demo. Turnaround time for stringing was super fast. Additional bonus is that they deliver certain distances in DC which is so so helpful and convenient. I first visited the Tennis Zone in 2014 because I wanted to take lessons. I started taking lessons from Ravi, the store owner. He offered great instruction and accommodated my special needs. I have limited mobility and he is skilled enough to hit it directly to me, over and over again. I get to hit without having to chase balls. Also, I purchased all of my tennis gear from the Tennis Zone based on the expert advice given to me by Ravi and one of the employees who strings racquets. Being able to get my racket strung in just 2 days times is an added plus. Great store for tennis players. read more

The person who was working was clearly more interested in continuing his conversation than helping me and told me to write down my name and phone number and said he'd call when they got some in that might work for me. I have asked him many many annoying questions about racquets and technique, he has always been very kind in answering my questions. Racquet stringing seemed reasonable at $30, he is also capable of ordering any equipment you need. So...what can I say? I just love this place! I'm not sure how they get so much merchandise in this tiny store but any time I need something--amazingly, they have it in stock! Great selection of demo racquets and great & fast stringing service. The guys working here are serious tennis players & they know their stuff. When I brought a racquet in for restringing, and I accidentally bought the wrong grommet package from an online vendor, the owner, Jose, called the manufacturer to figure out why it didn't fit my son's racquet (new vs. old models). Jose not only sorted it all out, but he gave me the product ID # to make sure when I re-ordered I got the right one! Fantastic customer service!!! And they price match the online retailers--so GREAT SERVICE, IMMEDIATE DELIVERY , and GREAT PRICES. Oh, and if you can't make it to the store, for $10. They will even deliver your re-strung racquet to you--how's that for convenience? I used to shop mostly online, you order and then you wait, right? But since I found this place, I've bought a racquet, a pair of tennis shoes and grips and dampeners--it was really great (& weird) walking out of the store with my purchases THE SAME DAY. Quick turnaround and great string jobs - they text you when your racquet is ready. Generous demo program too - you can use the demo cost to credit a new racquet purchase. Pretty much endless selection of racquets, even from more obscure brands like Tecnifibre and Volkl. Guys in the shop know their stuff and love to talk college and pro tennis. Ravi is awesome. I thought his price for restringing my racquet was a bit steep, but that was my only issue. He is knowledgeable yet unpretentious, and he has integrity. A great coach who gives helpful tips-- someone who obviously knows how to teach and has been doing it for a while. He gives you personal attention, whether you're a new or longtime customer. Based on what I've observed of his interactions (on the court and in his shop), people trust him. Tennis Zone just opened a few months back, and I just stopped by the check it out. Despite a large number of tennis players in the District, there are very few places to go for restringing or other tennis needs. As much as I like Tyrone and the guys at Drilling, it's annoying to try and make it before they close at 6 and pay $40 for stringing. Ravi, the owner of Tennis Zone, is friendly and knows his stuff. I was able to get my racket restrung within an hour for $20 including strings. And the store is open until 8 most weeknights and 6 on weekends, which is nice. No more having to rush to Drilling before they close. And the fact that it's a few blocks from my house is definitely a plus. The decor is spartan at best and their selection is not as diverse as Drilling, but I'm sure Ravi can get what you need if it's not in the store. I would recommend Tennis Zone for convenience and cost. read more

it's so odd that i've just now found out about this place...that's probably due to the fact that i haven't picked up my racket in a very long time. but after finally vowing to get back on the courts, i decided to take my racket in for a well needed restringing. i'm not really sure what about my singular visit made me differ from the previous two five-star ratings, but i didn't walk about bathed in the same glow and satisfaction. nothing against the store, maybe i was just feeling smothered in the 110 degree heat. but at the end of the day, i got two rackets restrung with very quick turnover for around $55, which seems to be a fair price. read more

Semi hard to get too if you don't live or work in the area, but if you are in the market for a new stick this is the place. I walked in with a specific model in mind, almost ready to buy on the spot, but decided to take MJ's(?) advice and try another. As much as I didn't want to like that suggestion, that's the one I ended up buying. Given I'm playing more I'll most likely end up with another dupe or two depending and will most likely purchase through them. I met Ravi the owner, when I picked up and had a great conversation both were very friendly, helpful, and wanted to get to know me and my game. Wish the store was a bit bigger as clothing selection is a bit small, but honestly, that's not my priority. They had all the updated Head models (I'm a Head girl... I played with a Pro-Kennex in my teenage years however). But love how they are open on weeknights until 7:30. Makes picking up very convienent. read more
