I moved to DC about 6 months ago and have been looking for a nail salon for a long time. After many fails and attempts, I finally came to Tenley Nails. I am beyond amazed at how awesome this place is and have been coming here for the past two months. They take really good care of you. They are extremely accommodating even when I don't have an appointment. Their technique is amazing and my nails last up to three weeks! I extremely recommend this place if you are looking for a good nail salon. Their prices are unbeatable in DC. read more

As a student, I liked Tenley Nails. They have reasonable prices (accept eagle bucks), do a great job with mani pedis, and even massage your back and neck when they do manicures. Just don't ask them to do a gel manicure. They don't have to equipment for the gel to dry properly. It will come out blotchy and uneven. This store is also not kept very clean. I think it's time for me to find a new salon. read more

The technicians at this salon are fantastic -- much more detailed than at other salons and super sweet. The prices are lower as well! They don't have the most updated décor, which is probably how they keep prices lower. But I really don't care about the space when the technicians are kind and do a great job every time. read more

In a word, terrible. As a native Washingtonian, I have been to several nail salons and this was by far the worst. Reeked of acetone, bad customer service, their base prices are good but beware that they try to rip you off by adding additional fees and treatments during your mani/pedi (and then of course refuse to add the charge to your credit card and ask that you go to the 7-Eleven across the street to get out cash....delightful). If you're looking for a quick, cheap mani/pedi this might work for you but if you want to have a pleasant, relaxing experience I wouldn't recommend it. read more

I've had 3 pedicures my whole life and have had the last 2 here. I've only been to one other place (in San Francisco), so keep that in mind when reading this review. They're great. The staff is friendly and I can finally walk out the door with my toes on display. The facilities and equipment seem pretty standard for a nail place with massage chairs and foot spas. The 2 women who've worked on me never drew any blood, and gave great foot and leg massages. In other words, gentle when called for, strong when called for. I usually go during the weekends which I am guessing is usually their busy time, but I've never had to wait. They're fast but do a really good job. The salon is just right off Wisconsin across from a 7-Eleven. Never had a mani, but a pedi costs $25. read more

Update: They got new massage chairs that are really nice and even give leg massages! Also, they have a new special for a $30 mani/pedi on Monday's and Tuesdays! Can't beat the prices, and they're still extremely friendly. I think they are also offering a lot of other spa services now too. read more

Worst Experience Ever. I visited Amy at Tenley Nails today. The chairs were not very comfortable, the polish was old and gummy, and while giving me a pedicure, Amy scraped my heel with a pumice stone (that had clearly been used for AWHILE) to the point where my heel was bleeding. She then nipped my finger while giving me a manicure following the pedicure! They don't have ultraviolet lights to help dry the nails either. I spent $41 on this horrible experience. I would highly recommend walking down a block north on Wisconsin to Envy Nails where the chairs and polish are in much better shape and the staff won't cause you to bleed and potentially get an infection. read more

I was a bit hesitant to try this place based on some of the reviews, but it was a great experience. The women were friendly and made me feel welcome. Rose, who gave me a top notch mani-pedi, took her time (it was Sunday at noon and not very crowded). I will definitely go back. It could use some updating, but felt clean and maintained overall. read more

I love this place. I just had another great pedicure. The manicurist gave me a leg massage that lasted at least 20 minutes -- closer to half and hour I think -- I was in some happy zen state and stopped looking at the clock. I usually ask for a ten minute neck massage -- which is always fabulous but today opted for the pedi/mani combo instead - and happily discovered it came with a five minute neck massage too. I have been going to Tenley Nails for over a year. They are friendly and talk to you during your service. They offer the standard prices and like many other locations, offer a menu of choices and prices. I've never felt pressured to upgrade, like some have suggested in other reviews. It also does not have the acetone smell that you experience in many other establishments. In fact, I typically walk out of places that do reek of acetone. The best thing is that they usually have openings when I'm ready. read more

Four of us went here for mani pedis and collectively spent over $230. The customer service was horrendous- one of the worst experiences I've had at a nail salon. They could care less about giving you a good experience- they just try to get you in and out as soon as possible. They left someone in our group for twenty minutes with their feet soaking because the woman went to go work on someone else's nails. My person was very sneaky by telling me what kind of pedicure she was giving me- despite me saying I wanted a standard pedicure for $25 she told me she was giving me a $40 pedicure. She kept quickly pointing at that option and insisting I was getting that. The woman also did a terrible job on my gel manicure. The color was streaky and she told me it was because my nails are short. When we were paying the woman at the counter literally walked off while we were talking to her. AVOID this place at all costs. read more

They're really nice there, talked to us the whole time. The prices are a little confusing though. Just make sure to ask for the estimated price before you start to get your nails done. I wish they gave a better foot massage during the pedi. read more

I love Tenley Nails. The women are so sweet and remember their clients. Yes the place is a little dingy, but they keep their instruments clean. Every manicure comes with a quick, amazing neck massage. They are also excellent at waxing - my eyebrows always look beautiful after I leave. They uphold their appointments but also do not make walk-ins wait. They are also cheap!! I've gone to many pricier salons, but always come back to Tenley Nails. read more

I went for a mani/pedi during the special and got a gel manicure/regular pedicure. The service was efficient and lacking in frills. The pedicure was fine, but the manicure was VERY frustrating. Before even asking me what shape I prefer, she filed down my entire left hand into an awkward trapezoid shape. I freaked out and asked her to correct it several times, showing her what I like. I wish she would have asked, now my right hand has longer, well shaped nails and my left hand is a disaster and looks horrible. She even filed down an entire side of my nail and it looks totally awkward and horrible. Even after asking and showing several times, I ended up fixing the shape when I got home. I will not be coming back here. Despite the friendly banter in the beginning, I paid someone $50 to completely ruin the shape of my nails. I understand they grow back, and I'll get over it, but i'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Never again! In my only visit I received the worst manicure ever,maybe because it was MONDAY. First I noticed that her own nails and teeth were dirty and unpolished ( It was disgusting). Then she did a terrible work with my cuticles, and while doing my nails she did not stop complaining about working 7/24 and having an old jobless husband. Later she was interrupting, going to the sidewalk to talk on the cell, and leaving me unattended while constantly checking her phone. I did not want to accept that this place have some very bad apples, I guess she is one of them. It is a shame but never again!. read more

The absolute worst manicure I have ever had. Stay away from Kathy; my hands are still hurting a day later.

I had only an hour for lunch, and Amy took care of me and was finished before the hour. She was very pleasant & friendly. She took her time, and for once in a very long time, i actually am pleased with the way she filed my nails, and she gave me a hand massage - i will definately go back there. I went to get a gel fill, and the woman who did my nails had never given a gel fill before, I honestly would be surprised if she has ever given a manicure before. Multiple other employees kept coming up to her and telling her what to do. It took forever and the outcome was terrible. Then, she gave me shellac on top of the gels and did about 5 coats of the polish before deciding they were "done" - i left looking like a child did them. Definitely do not recommend. read more

got a manicure here today for just $14. the salon is pretty bare-bones, nothing fancy but it was a great manicure. the lady also massaged my shoulders for me and it felt awesome. not the nicest salon ever but good service and they take walk-ins. a great bargain. would definitely go back. read more
