I have really enjoyed tender greens in the past. It's been several years since I've had it because there isn't one close to me (I wish there were). I was in the mall and wanted something quick and healthy to eat. This was the perfect solution. I walked in and there was no line. It was pretty empty except for a few tables near the doors and outside. I ordered the seared tuna Niçoise salad. I wanted to use the QR code on the app so I asked the girl at the counter how to find it. She didn't know. She asked for my phone number but still wasn't able to find my account, she seemed pretty new. I finally found the code and she scanned it. I ordered to go so I sat to wait. My order was up pretty quickly. I walked outside and checked my bag. It was missing the bread so I had to return to get that. My salad tasted good, I loved the light flavorful dressing. The tuna was slightly over seared, the edges were very dry. Also the potatoes seemed slightly under cooked and kind of hard. The rest was enjoyable. Came here on a weekday from a long hiatus and was pleasantly surprised about their menu. The steak used to be my go to but I was super intrigued by the braised short rib with mashed potatoes and green beans. Our food took probably 25 minutes to come out so idk if I was just starving at that point but I really enjoyed this dish. The short rib was perfectly tender and the sauce was vibrant. Although, the green beans could've definitely been seasoned better, the bread saved the meal. All the seating was full inside so we opted to sit outside. Super disappointed with this place. I ordered online for delivery through their app and it took over an hour and a half for my food to arrive. The restaurant uses DoorDash, and the dasher even texted me saying the order wasn't ready when they got there. I called Tender Greens, and the employee told me someone else had already picked up my order and that it had been delivered. I explained that I never received it. She said they would remake my order but kept blaming DoorDash. When I contacted DoorDash, they told me the restaurant was responsible for resolving the issue. I relayed that information back to Tender Greens, but the response wasn't helpful, and there wasn't even an apology for the inconvenience. After all that waiting, my replacement order finally arrived, and the burger was completely undercooked. The outside looked cooked, but the entire inside was raw. Overall, it was a very frustrating experience from start to finish. Between the delivery issues, the lack of customer service, and receiving an inedible burger after such a long wait, I don't plan on ordering from this location again. read more

My wife and I were at UTC Mall tonight to run some shopping errands and it was close to dinner time, so we thought, "Hey, we haven't eaten at Tender Greens in a little while, so let's go back to the one at the Mall." We were going to the symphony that evening and thought we could enjoy a very good meal at Tender Greens and eat quickly and be goe. BIG MISTAKE! I have been a loyal client of this Tender Greens since it first opened and the food and the service, with the exception of the young man who took our order, was horrible!! What the heck happened to this location? No wonder it was fairly empty. We get to the counter and my wife orders her favorite - the salt and pepper chicken - only dark meat, with mashed potatoes and the arugula salad. And the slice of bread. I tried the chicken pesto bowl. I also wanted the slice of bread. When my wife's plate showed up, you could tell the chicken was NOT all dark meat and it was so dry, you didn't need to take a bite to see how dry it was. I took it to the counter and said kindly, "My wife order this salt and pepper plate with only dark meat." The girl behind the counter talked to the chef, a woman, and she barked back with attitude - "THAT IS THE DARK MEAT!" Look at the picture - it's not all dark meat and it was so dry, that my wife didn't eat a lot of it rather than argue. My chicken pesto bowl - not too bad or good, the pesto lacks a depth of flavor that you expect with pesto, the chicken was not hot, it was dry and someone should send out the search party for my one slice of bread!!! Some of the green beans were not properly prepped as it had the stem still attached. Attention to detail is important!! Oh, well. They won the argument about the chicken but they've lost a client. This location used to be our go-to at least 2x a week. I used to work in the restaurant business as a young college kid - I'm not an idiot and I understand how you are supposed to treat clients, especially when they are reasonable - all I wanted was for them to replace the white chicken meat with what my wife ordered!! She always orders the same dish at Tender Greens and we have for years!! I'd give this location 5 stars but unfortunately didn't have the most welcoming experience with the cashier, who also served my food. I walked around the restaurant to find utensils thinking maybe you're supposed to get your own, but only was able to find the plastic ones at the takeout desk. I ordered the Thai Shrimp bowl but instead with salad instead of rice. The green papaya salad and dressing were excellent. But, I was disappointed that the shrimp was way too salty. Seemed to be soaked in salt and then a spicy overly salty seasoning added to the shrimp when grilled. I rinsed the shrimp at home which helped, but still saltier than necessary. I'm very responsible and do my best to not burden anyone else with my intolerance for spice. But last night, I ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwich with the best intentions and instead got pwned by its spiciness. Turns out, you have to read the fine print to see it has a "spicy maple glaze." No spicy indicator, nothing in the name, just making it very difficult for non-spicers to navigate. I understand there was a large order that caused delays, that part I can be patient with. What I can't overlook is the complete lack of basic customer service. The front-of-house worker I interacted with had a noticeably bad attitude. No eye contact, no effort to communicate, nothing. One of my biggest pet peeves is when someone can't even look at you while you're speaking to them, especially when I'm asking about my own order. It felt dismissive and honestly rude. What made it worse is that instead of giving me a realistic update, I kept getting a vague "it'll be out." She could have easily looked into my order and given me an actual estimate. Even more frustrating, I had a drink included in my order, and not once did she think to check or offer it to me while I was standing there waiting all that time. I thought my meal here was pretty standard and comparable to a cafeteria meal. I appreciate that tender greens uses fresh ingredients and has healthy options. We all chose to get plates, in which you select a main and two sides. I got the barbecue chicken, which I thought was flavorful on the outside but pretty dry. I also got the mixed veggies and spinach salad as my side. Although there are a good amount of options, here, nothing really blew our socks off. The best thing here is probably the bread, which is grilled and features oil, or some sort of butter. Given the experience, I probably would not come back anytime soon. Cashier did not know how to accept InKind payment. Told me they accept credit cards and Apple Pay, etc. I told her if she didn't know how to ring it up for InKind to ask someone. Sure enough her coworker instructed her, it is an accepted payment method. She kept asking to see my phone as she didn't know what InKind was. Asked for dine in/not to go. Was given a number, waited almost 30 min as I watched servers bring food to patrons that sat down after us. Finally went to the counter and my 3 meals were packed to go. The cashier that took my order brought food out to other tables and walked by my table at least 5 times. Not once did she bother to tell me that my food was ready. With all the time it was left sitting, the food was cold. The person that ended up handing the bag to me asked if I wanted it remade and stuck his hand in my bag to touch the bowl lid saying it's "warmish". He was unapologetic. Didn't seem to care. And if you are eating there, remember to grab your utensils at the utensils table. They won't bring out utensils for you. There is not much service. The food is a bit pricier for the portions you get. I paid $32 for the Thai Steak bowl, with carrot cake, and the greens juice. The carrot cake was much smaller/thinner than I remembered, it used to have more cake to it. The Greens Juice had a lot of ice so I finished it before the food even came. The rice is improving. I like the coconut rice of the Thai bowl. A lot of the time the rice is a little mushy. They give like two scoops of rice. I will come here again since the food comes out quick and they have healthier options. I just wish it was better value (better prices, portions, or service). read more

At 11:45am the chairs were still flipped upside down on the the front tables and front door closed. It didn't even look like they were open. Four staff members were only focused on bagging online orders. The only other staff person at the counter was busy typing things into their system and would not look up. Stopped in for lunch with my elderly parents at noon on a Sunday. Ample seating and friendly staff. Very quiet and comfortable. Food came timely and all was delicious. The chicken Cobb salad was really good and priced well at $15.85. Also had the turkey pesto sandwich was also tasty, fresh, and a good portion size for the price. My sisters enjoyed their longevity bowl and fried chicken sandwich. My mom enjoyed their tomato soup and burger.
