I rarely leave reviews, but this experience genuinely ruined my lunch break. I ordered ahead to save time and still ended up wasting 40 of my 60-minute lunch just waiting for my food. I understand there was a large order that caused delays, that part I can be patient with. What I can't overlook is the complete lack of basic customer service. The front-of-house worker I interacted with had a noticeably bad attitude. No eye contact, no effort to communicate, nothing. One of my biggest pet peeves is when someone can't even look at you while you're speaking to them, especially when I'm asking about my own order. It felt dismissive and honestly rude. What made it worse is that instead of giving me a realistic update, I kept getting a vague "it'll be out." She could have easily looked into my order and given me an actual estimate. Even more frustrating, I had a drink included in my order, and not once did she think to check or offer it to me while I was standing there waiting all that time. That's such an easy way to show some level of care, and it just didn't happen. Delays happen, but attitude and lack of effort are a choice. My wife and I were at UTC Mall tonight to run some shopping errands and it was close to dinner time, so we thought, "Hey, we haven't eaten at Tender Greens in a little while, so let's go back to the one at the Mall." We were going to the symphony that evening and thought we could enjoy a very good meal at Tender Greens and eat quickly and be goe. BIG MISTAKE! I have been a loyal client of this Tender Greens since it first opened and the food and the service, with the exception of the young man who took our order, was horrible!! What the heck happened to this location? No wonder it was fairly empty. We get to the counter and my wife orders her favorite - the salt and pepper chicken - only dark meat, with mashed potatoes and the arugula salad. And the slice of bread. I tried the chicken pesto bowl. I also wanted the slice of bread. When my wife's plate showed up, you could tell the chicken was NOT all dark meat and it was so dry, you didn't need to take a bite to see how dry it was. I took it to the counter and said kindly, "My wife order this salt and pepper plate with only dark meat." The girl behind the counter talked to the chef, a woman, and she barked back with attitude - "THAT IS THE DARK MEAT!" Look at the picture - it's not all dark meat and it was so dry, that my wife didn't eat a lot of it rather than argue. My chicken pesto bowl - not too bad or good, the pesto lacks a depth of flavor that you expect with pesto, the chicken was not hot, it was dry and someone should send out the search party for my one slice of bread!!! Some of the green beans were not properly prepped as it had the stem still attached. Attention to detail is important!! Oh, well. They won the argument about the chicken but they've lost a client. This location used to be our go-to at least 2x a week. I used to work in the restaurant business as a young college kid - I'm not an idiot and I understand how you are supposed to treat clients, especially when they are reasonable - all I wanted was for them to replace the white chicken meat with what my wife ordered!! She always orders the same dish at Tender Greens and we have for years!! I don't appreciate being treated like an idiot by a chef that wants to argue with me and snap at me about dark chicken. read more

This place is easy to find - right in the dining terrace of UTC near the skating rink & food court. It's a great spot for lunch if you just need a quick bite with healthy but filling options. They have so many great options in the menu and I went with the California bow w/ chiptle bbq chicken. The chicken was a little dry but it was flavorful. I wish there was more chicken in my bowl though. My mom got the Filipino inspired adobo chicken bowl and she enjoyed it a lot. My favorite part is unexpectedly the green juice. OH MY GOD...best green juice I've ever had! It's so refreshing and is more citrusy and minty. Not the usual grassy taste I come to expect from green juices. You won't believe this. I was discriminated against at Tender Greens. I identify as a non-spicy food eater, and I avoid spicy food. I'm very responsible and do my best to not burden anyone else with my intolerance for spice. But last night, I ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwich with the best intentions and instead got pwned by its spiciness. Turns out, you have to read the fine print to see it has a "spicy maple glaze." No spicy indicator, nothing in the name, just making it very difficult for non-spicers to navigate. This restaurant is not inclusive, and I strongly urge them to label their menu clearly to accommodate people of different spice abilities. read more

I swear their food used to be up to par a few years back. My food was only mediocre at best - I got the country fried chicken with veggies and mac and cheese. I don't know, everything about it was dry - i'm surprised there was no real sauce in any of my food items. Maybe it's a miss with these ones in particular. I remember i had a really good plate but I didn't see it this time, a shame if they got rid of it. Maybe it's better to have something else but I was a bit disappointed. I also got a grilled chicken for my little Brooks which they only gave her like the kids meal was like a three little pieces of grilled chicken, which I thought it was kinda sad But just the service itself. I arrived at 11:45AM on Monday and there was zero line, however after standing at the head of the line for 10 minutes and not being served I finally asked the counter person if I could place my order. There were a few folks waiting for their to-go orders and I overheard the manager telling them that they were another 20 minutes behind. Suffice it to say, those patrons were understandably frustrated. It is a wonder that this place is still in business as both their quality and service have gone completely downhill! I thought my meal here was pretty standard and comparable to a cafeteria meal. I appreciate that tender greens uses fresh ingredients and has healthy options. We all chose to get plates, in which you select a main and two sides. I got the barbecue chicken, which I thought was flavorful on the outside but pretty dry. I also got the mixed veggies and spinach salad as my side. Although there are a good amount of options, here, nothing really blew our socks off. The best thing here is probably the bread, which is grilled and features oil, or some sort of butter. Given the experience, I probably would not come back anytime soon. It only came with half a hard boiled egg, the chicken was burnt with skin, hard to find the avocado pieces. I took off the burnt skin as it is carcinagenic. I have had Cobb salads at other places. They came with sliced half an avocado, and at least one whole egg cut in two. The dressing was good, and I enjoyed the crispy fresh Romaine lettuce. The free sourdough bread I asked to be warmed and came with burnt grill marks on it and I couldn't taste the sourdough. The service was very good. I paid $18.85 Probably wouldn't go there again. And if you are eating there, remember to grab your utensils at the utensils table. They won't bring out utensils for you. There is not much service. The food is a bit pricier for the portions you get. I paid $32 for the Thai Steak bowl, with carrot cake, and the greens juice. The carrot cake was much smaller/thinner than I remembered, it used to have more cake to it. The Greens Juice had a lot of ice so I finished it before the food even came. The rice is improving. I like the coconut rice of the Thai bowl. A lot of the time the rice is a little mushy. They give like two scoops of rice. I will come here again since the food comes out quick and they have healthier options. I just wish it was better value (better prices, portions, or service). read more

The bread they serve now is just half a piece for a while now, and it comes cold and chewy, almost like it's old. The mashed potatoes are very dry more like cake crumbs on the plate. The servings feel smaller, and the flavors are missing. It's disappointing to see the quality going down. I am not very happy especially it's not cheap. They have a large selection of menu items and all healthy foods. The GM, Chris, was more than accommodating and very professional. The entire restaurant was clean and the atmosphere was relaxing. Tried Tender Greens at the UTC Mall for the first time on a Sunday afternoon. Staff were friendly. Food came out relatively quick. And there's ample indoor and outdoor seating for you to sit down and enjoy your meal. I tried the chicken pesto sandwich, it was good, but the bread was a bit saturated, a little too oily for me. Price is reasonable. Also one star off for cleanliness. The tables were dirty and the ground had napkins and other crumbs. We had to clean our own tables to get a seat. But to be fair, there was only one person delivering food to the customers, and that same person was bussing the tables. Perhaps in the future, they could hire one more person to help out. read more
