Been going here for years and it never disappoints. The veggie combo platter is my staple order as it offers a wide variety of vegetarian dishes in one plate such as falafels, hummus, dolmas, spanakopita, etc. You also can't go wrong with their gyro sandwich special. Their French fries are surprisingly pretty solid - crispy and thick cut. They renovated the inside some time ago so it looks so much nicer. Plenty of patio seating is available as well. The service is usually pretty good. They can get quite busy so it's best to have your order ready to go before you get to the counter! read more

*Unsanitary Food Handling Practices* I was very concerned by the food handling practices I observed during my visit. The employee serving food used the same pair of gloves to handle food, touch other surfaces, and perform cleaning tasks without changing gloves. At one point, she used her gloved hands to wipe up a spill with a rag and then immediately returned to handling food from the hot trays and plating customer orders. This creates a serious risk of cross-contamination. I asked the employee at the register, "Do you not use tongs to handle the food and change gloves after touching other items?" The response was simply, "No." This is not only unsanitary, but it could also pose a danger to customers with food allergies or sensitivities. I strongly encourage management to review proper food safety procedures, including the use of utensils when appropriate and changing gloves whenever employees switch tasks. Unfortunately, the experience left me uncomfortable enough that I ended up throwing my food away. I recently went to eat here and while the food was fine, the person packing up my food was just so annoyed and giving me a lot of attitude simply for asking them to repeat themselves since they were not speaking very loud. Food, and food descriptions. Today I ordered a skewer plate which supposedly had the option of chicken or sausage, I chose sausage. The sausage skewer plate they gave me is just two dried out sausage links soaked half way in oil they were sitting in, not skewers at all. The Greek rice is just white rice with a bit of turmeric for color, and the tzatziki is watery. Greek is my favorite food and you guys really let me down here. Because of this, when I'm in price center buying food I'm looking for something quick, relatively cheap, and tastier than what I can microwave. The combo plate is probably the safe choice because you can choose two sides (rice, salad or fries). The rice is a bit too salty. I normally have the Zorba plate. The negative reviews of this place are all rather ridiculous. Mainly because most are written by UCSD students who clearly don't know the value of a dollar yet. If you guys want incredibly delicious authentic family style Greek food then go to Olympic Café in North Park. Santorini's is fast casual Greek food. It's never going to be the absolute best, but is is good. In any case, here's why I think this fast casual Greek restaurant is awesome! They season their fries. Sure, sometimes they're crispy and perfect and other times they're soggy. It can be annoying, but their fries actually have flavor. Other cheap Greek spots don't season their fries. They make their own vinaigrette dressing. For those that don't know anything about dressings.... salad dressing naturally splits back up. That's why you shake it. If you don't want it to split you add an emulsifier like Dijon mustard for example. Split up dressing is normal. Also their portions are huge! Except for Panda Express there's nowhere else in the Price Center that you'll get as much food for the price that you're paying. It's a lot of food and you won't leave hungry. Is it the best Greek food? No. Is it decent Greek food? Yes. Is the service fast? Yes. Is is a good Value? Absolutely! read more

Every single time I go, they never fall short of making me happy that I ordered the same thing I did... yesterday... Call me addicted! They are typically always busy but try to go around 3-4 for late lunch as that's when there is usually no wait! This place is located right in the middle of my campus (UCSD) and it's such a good lunch spot. When I need a filling meal to get me through a day of studying, I come here. I usually opt for the chicken plate, and it comes with a delicious sauce also. The pita bread is always warm and delicious. The only critique I could give is that the rice is a bit bland. The serving size was dinner size and I was quite stuffed. If you are looking for good Greek food I think Daphne's is better. Santorini is probably one of my favorite restaurants at PC. They have some good deals on certain days, and pricing isn't too bad. The line tends to be long (just like everywhere else at PC during lunchtime), but it goes by pretty quickly. I've had their gyro meal and Santorini platter--both great choices. They give a lot of meat when you get the gyro, so that's a positive. There's a lot of different variations with their meals, but with the same selections of food. For instance, all of the components are pretty similar if you were to get a gyro plate (gyro sandwich and fries) or a gyro salad. The main difference would be the fries, but you could get that on the side. Regardless, all plates are delicious. Some plates come with salad, while others don't. One thing I'd like is if there fries were crispier. They're good, but I like to hear that crunch! Another is that their salad dressing has a bit too much oil for me. Gotta throw out some context here first: this is an on-campus location... so basically lower your standards. Let's face it --- food on a college campus just doesn't compare to off-site locations. Even the Subway here is different. Anyway, Santorini's is often my go-to place when in PC. This place is probably the most expensive food place in PC, but sometimes you just crave a hearty meal. The food here isn't bad, but I find it to be really greasy, especially if you get the gyros. I don't exactly know what Greek food is supposed to taste like, so I can't provide any information on the authenticity. The freshness of the food here is often a hit-or-miss. During busy rush hours (lunch/dinner), they'll prepare lots of pita breads and pre-cut gyros and store them in warmed containers. Unfortunately, these containers will often dry out the food and so by the time you get them, they're just lifeless. However, when they do cut off fresh meat for you, it's super tasty, but also super oily. I normally get the Gyros plate or the Gyros salad. I find that getting the "meals" tends to give you less food since they'll pre-wrap your gyros meat in the pita bread. For the plate, they separate them so they tend to give you more meat. Overall, I like the food here, but don't LOVE it. It's fast and decent-tasting, but I find it a little pricey for the food I get. Also, as with all PC food at UCSD, it gives me a funny feeling in my stomach later... A random tidbit: I've heard wonders about their breakfast menu but I'm never here in time to get it because it ends at noon! read more

I either get a salad or the pita meal here or if I'm feeling like I need to clog my arteries, I order the Santorini island fries. It's fries topped with feta cheese, gyro meat, chicken, grilled jalapeño and a lemon dill sauce. They also add a side of tzatziki sauce. I suggest you ask for an extra one so you can dip the fries in it. You can also ask them to add a little bit more lemon dill sauce because that stuff is pretty awesome. They are very efficient here. The line can get really long but it moves fairly quickly. Just make sure that you know what you're getting by the time they ask you what you want to order. Oh one last thing, don't ask to substitute things or take things out of an order, 9 out of 10 times it ain't going to happen. Just replace "Mexican" with "Chinese" from the rubio's description and you have PE. Wrap place (whose name I can never remember)? Yeah, I don't do wraps. BK? While I dig it, I try to avoid a day's calories in one meal. Shogun? I think it is competing with PExpress for shittiest Asian food around. So what does that leave us? Santorini and the Indian place. Haven't tried the latter yet, but checked out Santorini last week. I have to say I dig the gyro. Has lots of flavor, and very good taste. The salad was ok, fries were pretty standard. The combo meal price was good as well. I guess I got lucky line-wise because it took me 5-10 minutes to go through the line and have my food. Definitely plan to go back on one of those frequent days I forget (or don't have time) to make lunch. Overall I'd say it is the top place in Price Center, although, as noted above, that does not say much. read more
