If your thinking about doing the Road to Hana in Maui, this was a great way to do it. Let someone else drive and fly back to save half a day. Our Guide Scott was fantastic. My friend and I opted for the Road to Hana with helicopter fly back. We booked it through Viator to save 15 percent. It was everything I could of hoped for and more. Booking with Temptation tours was easy and our guide was awesome. You can enjoy a stress free vacation , take in the scenery and not worry about the narrow roads and dangerous driving. There are plenty of stops for photos, bathroom breaks, and food. I highly recommend buying the fresh baked banana bread at the half -way point. Drinks, bottled water and lunch are provided on the tour. Make sure you try the POG. Our guide was great at taking photos for each person or couple traveling. The van is very spacious and comfortable. We had A/C and charging ports for our phones. I'm so glad I opted for a luxury small group tour. I enjoyed it much more. The helicopter fly back was certainly worth the money and the time we saved not to mention if we had to drive back. In the helicopter you get to see lush greenery, raging waterfalls, and coastal views. The pilot does a great job circling each scenic spot to make sure both sides get that perfect shot or video. It's about a 35 minute flight. It's an early start but this tour was great. We beat the traffic and had most of the scenic spots to ourselves. I wish we would of had 20 more minutes at the black sand beach but the time we did have was great. Lunch on the first black sand beach was delicious and there was plenty of food. We had chicken and fish wraps, pasta salad, fresh fruit, salad, drinks, and macadamia nut brownies . Scott was a fantastic tour guide. He was an awesome driver, full of information, pointed out other spots to check out along the way , and overall had a great personality. He kept the group engaged for nearly three hours . We were so lucky to have him as a host. I highly recommend this company for the Road to Hana. read more

This was a good tour where we were able to see both Hana from the road and parts of Maui from the Air. The helicopter ride was awesome where we got to see lots of waterfalls and the rainforest. Pete was a great pilot! It was a bit shorter than we would have liked but it was a nice day with a nice view. Then it was on to Hana with Gayle. The lunch that was provided was nice. The black sand beach was nice and going into the small Lava tube. We enjoyed swimming in the waterfall and the lookouts. Along the road to Hana we got to see several waterfalls and Gayle did a good job stopping where she could. She gave us lots of history as she drove and she handled the road to Hana like she had been driving it all her life. I would have like to see more on the road to Hana but there just wasn't enough time I suppose. I think this a great introduction to Hana, especially if you want to just sit back and not drive it on your own. We chose it because we were able to do both air and land tour. read more

You cannot visit Maui without doing this tour! It is a must. Our tour guide, Gayle, has a true love and respect for the beautiful island. She was knowledgeable about the island's history, all the vegetation we encountered, the best view spots, photo ops. and most importantly she was an incredible driver. My wife and I have taken many tours in many places, Mexico and Hawaii. Hana-Sky-Trek is the "best tour" in our opinion. During the first part of the tour, we made the right number of stops, including getting a snack half way to Hana, swimming at a water fall, looking at the breathtaking view at a turnout, and swimming at the black sand beach. We also had a very delicious picnic lunch at the black sand beach. Michael, our tour guide, was fantastic. His knowledge about Maui and the Hawaiian culture was superb. He kept us entertained during the entire 4 hour ride. We learned so much from him, from why sugarcane business in Hawaii stopped its operation two years ago to the type of flowers on the roadside. Rick, our helicopter pilot, was very knowledgeable also. We were cruising around the sky, and looking at the places that we just visited plus more, much more. We felt very safe and we enjoyed every minute of it. The best part of the trip is that we got back around noon instead of in the evening. Do stop by Mama's Fish house for a drink and a snack afterwards. It is expensive but worth the visit. read more

The sights were gorgeous, the stops were all scenic, well planned, but the best part of the tour was Gayle Shufeldt. She has been in Hawaii for 35 years and it comes through in spades. She knew every species of plant, all the hideaways, island history, but also shared perspective from the locals about respect and treating the land with what it deserves. A 10 hour drive could sound daunting, but every minute was engaging. Took the small group road to Hanna land and helicopter tour at 11:15am. Both the pilot and tour driver (SEAN) were great. The flight was first and was special. We were privileged to see whales from the air. Then SEAN took over on land. He took us to Hanna harbor where we enjoyed a picnic lunch. SEAN shared great stories & the history of Hawaiian people, knew the land & the Road to Hana like he drove it daily and welcomed any questions. He went at our pace but kept us mindful of timing needed. There are many more things I could share but simply, I would highly recommend this tour and SEAN as a guide. Tour Taken: Haleakala Sunrise Tour Guide: Sean Pick Up: We were told that we would be picked up at 2:50 AM (that's right folks!) at our hotel and, sure enough, when 2:50 AM rolled around, Sean showed up to pick us up. Passengers: Temptation's tours are designed to be smaller and more personal, so we (2 adults and 2 kids) were happy that the only other passengers were another family of two adults and one child for a total group of 7 plus our tour guide. Transportation: At 2:50 in the morning, I was very happy not to be getting on a big tour bus similar to what a lot of the other companies use. Instead, we were picked up in a really plush van that had individual captain's chairs. Especially for such a long and windy trip up Haleakala it was nice to have personal space. Trip Up: Given that it was the middle of the night my memory is a bit hazy on the trip up. Sean gave us a bit of history of where were driving and then asked us if we wanted to sleep a bit (we all said yes). The drive is pretty smooth until you get close to the national park. Then it gets super windy with a switch back every 1/4 mile or so. This may be an issue for anyone that gets car sick easily, but there are air sickness bags in the seat pockets just in case. The trip was approximately 2 hours). Arrival: When you arrive you notice right away that the weather is markedly different than the rest of Maui. We were told that the conditions when we went (August 12th) were very mild. It was still chilly (in the 50's) and windy. We were the first commercial vehicle at the top and it allowed Sean to stake out a spot (by the visitor center) that was both perfect for viewing the sunrise and also had the advantage of blocking the wind. Another great thing about Temptation, which I'm sure is not offered by other tour companies is that Sean had plenty of extra jackets, vests , gloves, and blankets for everyone. We had dressed warmly, but were very thankful to have the extra warmth! Sean gave us a nice astronomy lesson, pointing out the constellations that would crystal clear from our vantage point. Sunrise: Slowly, beginning around 5 AM, we began to see light. It looked like a screensaver come to life and got more beautiful as time went on. At certain points, Sean took pictures of us so the entire family would be in them. The sun rose just after 6 AM and was gorgeous. Nothing like we had even seen before. Post-Sunrise: Sean took drink orders from everyone as the sun was coming up and, when we arrived back at the van, there was coffee, tea, hot chocolate, etc. We then headed up to the summit for some additional views and picture taking. Breakfast: We wound down the mountain and Sean took us to the Kula Lodge for breakfast (included in the price of the tour). The food was very good (large portions) though there was some issue with the waffle maker that caused a lengthy delay for those that ordered the strawberry waffles. After breakfast, he took us on a tour of the beautiful garden (an understatement) in back of the lodge. He knew every plant, it's origin, etc. This was very cool. Finally, he gave us time to go to the gallery (famous Maui artist whose name escapes me) in the lower level of the lodge and the gift shop next door. We arrived back to our hotel in Wailea just after 11 AM. This tour is more expensive than most of the others available for Haleakala, but was worth every cent. Experience of a lifetime!! The Hana Sky-Trek, in my opinion, is the only way to experience the Road to Hana. Driving us in was Scottie and he made the trip! Highly suggest asking for Scottie. He was our historian, photographer, and friend. So knowledgeable! Also, the other 4 on our excursion was a hilarious family from England, great people, made the experience that much better! My wife and I were on our honeymoon in early August. Leading up to it, we knew we wanted to experience the Road to Hana, so I began researching. The Sky-Trek is it! Enjoy the drive in, the stops, the views, the swimming, the food, etc. I'll tell you what, after about 5-6 hours, I'm all set. We had a wonderful, homemade lunch in Hana, and headed to meet the helicopter. The helicopter was so smooth. We had a beautiful, clear day. The sites were like nothing I've ever seen before! Our day trip with our tour guide, Malissa, was fantastic from beginning to end. Her love of the island showed through her stories and the way she showed us the island on the tour. Each stop we made, she went above and beyond to point out special points that only she would've known from exploring these places on her own. Coming from San Francisco where the roads are steep and confusing to navigate, we knew we didn't want the pressure of driving ourselves and are so grateful for the outstanding hospitality and comfort Temptation Tours provided. The van was very nice and easy to get in and out of, and @ no point did we get the sense that the road was dangerous despite the many curves and narrow corners thanks to expert handling by Scottie. On that note, Scottie was an absolute ace @ his job, tripling as not only the driver, but also a charming and engaging guide full of interesting knowledge, and a super skilled photographer who taught our group of four girls many useful camera tricks. Kudos for your seamless multitasking and positive vibes, Scottie suffice it to say, the drive is gorgeous, though we wouldn't have minded a couple more stops. I've done the Road to Hana before and usually get car sick. This is a fantastic alternative to 12 hours in the car. I took the 11am helicopter to Hana. Our pilot Germot was amazing. We were both a little nervous being there was rain and wind but it was terrific! Rainbows galore! Scotty picked us up and he was fantastic. We saw the best sites and he took great photos/videos for us! I highly recommend this tour. Oh but don't bother lying about your weight when they call you...they weigh you at the airport! read more

I have to say, this experience is a MUST-DO for those who want to go to Hana. Gayle was our tour guide and she was marvelous. She was very friendly and knowledgeable. She has a lot of experience doing this now for 30+ years! I must say, she made the trip. The van was very nice and clean and extremely comfortable. My son decided to take a nap and enjoyed being in the back of the van so that he could recline the seat into a lay-back position. Gayle was a very safe and efficient driver; getting us to every stop in the right amount of time. She gave us ample time at each of the stops and always made sure that we were on schedule. If you take this tour, I highly recommend taking it with Gayle. The stops included an optional dive into a waterfall lagoon which my wife and son plunged into. Just when you thought that the apparent highlight of the trip (the black sands beach) was over, the Blue Hawaiian helicopter part was just the icing on the cake. Garrut (sorry if I misspelled) was the BEST pilot. In fact, he's the guy who trains all of the other pilots; so if you can choose, you'd be hard pressed not to ask for him. We lucked out by getting the best tour driver AND the best pilot. So much fun! My son had the best time. Again, I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to have a "highlights of Hana" tour and does not want to drive for 8 hours and get a BREATHTAKING view from above at the end of the trip. If you are going to Maui, book this trip. This was my second time on it. We did the morning tour and it was 10/10. We had Scott as our driver then Derek as our helicopter pilot. I would highly recommend asking for both when you book. Scott is incredible, and was my second time with him. He had us laughing the entire time. He takes incredible pictures of you and just has such fun energy to be around. He stops at great places/look outs and you spend the perfect amount of time at each place. The helicopter over the waterfalls and crater is something words really can't describe. It shows the pure beauty of this planet. Derek was so talented. We felt so safe the whole time. I really cannot say enough positive things about this tour company. During my stay in Maui, at the suggestion of my hotel, I booked the Haleakala Sunrise tour and the Road to Hana tour with them. The Haleakala Sunrise tour was the highlight of my Maui trip. Aaron was our guide. He was punctual and very professional. He also was extremely knowledgable and I learned a lot from him about Haleakala and the flora and fauna of Maui, among other things. We were the first commercial vehicle to arrive at Haleakala and therefore had prime viewing spots. Aaron had blankets for us all, along with extra clothing. The extra gear was warmly welcomed. After a spectacular viewing, we stopped off to have breakfast. Rather than join us for breakfast to continue our Maui education, Aaron gave the group space, allowing its members to interact with one another. I greatly appreciated this approach. We all got to know each other better and friendships developed as a result. Having been to other rainforests, I was not particularly impressed with the Road to Hana. I do think, however, that it is one of those things that you have to do while in Maui. Our tour guide for this trip was also punctual, professional and extremely knowledgable. The lunch, which was included in the price, was not particularly tasty, but our guide stopped at an ice cream stand later which made up for it. On the way back from Hana, we witnessed the most spectacular sunset. My only complaint is that I wish our guide had pulled over so that we all could have taken photos of it, which we were trying to do, but unsuccessfully, from the van. Overall, the vans used by this company are very comfortable and the guides are excellent drivers and very knowledgable. I highly suggest booking a tour with this company. read more

First time to Maui and on the advice of people in various travel forums I read we did the Haaleakala sunrise tour the first night here. I had waffled back and forth between doing the tour and trying the drive myself. I'm really glad I did the tour especially as a first timer. The experience was just so much more enriching than if I had DIY. We stayed at the Andaz in Wailea and got picked up promptly at our schedule time of 2:30am. Our guide was Scott Ferguson and he was great. The tour is small, just 2 other couples with us for a total of 6 plus the guide. You get a ride in a very comfortable 8 seater van. Scott was very personable from the get go and made sure everyone was comfortable. The drive is a little over an hour and you will be the first ones there which is planned. You get a bathroom stop and most importantly he had sweatshirts, gloves and hats for everyone like us who didn't dress warmly enough. The best piece of advice for anyone going on this whether on a tour or alone, dress like you're going skiing in cold weather. Thermal socks, boots, longjohns, thick coat etc. It is pretty windy up there and felt super cold. Once up there we staked out the prime spot to watch the sunset which is the reason we were so early. The night sky is beautiful with a lot to see. And as sunrise approached the place filled up quick and you realize the advantage of coming early. Scott took tons of pictures for everyone and even a video so bring your phones and cameras, he was great. After the sunrise we walked around the summit a bit and headed down to have breakfast. Then we walked around the flower gardens before heading back and being dropped back off at our hotel. I gotta say Scott was super knowledgeable about seemingly everything. From constellations in the night sky, photography, stuff about the mountain, island history, and even all the plants and flowers. He definitely added a lot to the experience with his knowledge. For anyone thinking about seeing the sunrise, I would say this tour is the way to go. Sadly this is the last year they are doing the sunrise tour so I would book while you can. read more

We had a great time on our Road to Hana luxury van tour. The seats in the van were super plush and comfy, and van itself provided a comfortable ride for our all-day adventure. Our tour guide Gayle was amazing! She has lived on the island for 35 years, and knew all sorts of interesting info about the island's history and current events. She also was extremely knowledgeable about the flora and fauna we experienced on our tour. We got to stop at several amazing locations, and even though the weather was a bit rainy Gayle made sure to focus on the positives of the rainfall in the ecosystem (the waterfalls were bussin'). We were lucky enough to have Aaron as our guide for Haleakala sunrise tour this morning. We were picked up from our hotel at 1:50am- so early but so worth it as we were the first car/bus/van at Haleakala! This meant a few things: 1) we had time to use bathroom, put on more layers of clothes that he had packed for us like windbreaker pants and fleece gloves and blankets. he was prepared! 2) we had the entire sky of star gazing to ourselves for a good chunk of time- we saw shooting stars from a meteor shower, we saw a satellite, the milky way, venus, jupiter, north star, and more! there was no chatter or other flashlights in your face during that time- that all arrived as the other groups start to roll in. 2) we could hear everything that Aaron was saying as he has a huge amount of knowledge that he shared from astronomy to hawaiian history to geology- he seriously is the best, I learned so much! 3) we got the front row unobstructed view of the crater with the sun rising!! we could see the big island too! After the sunrise we went to the summit & then started the descend down Haleakala where we had a delicious breakfast at a restaurant with panoramic views of Maui (when I booked I did not know it was included so that was a pleasant surprise!) All along the way Aaron shared so much knowledge about the island and pointed out everything along the way! I originally booked for the sunrise, but I got SO much more value out of everything else along the way with having Aaron as our tour guide. He is amazing & if you are lucky enough to have him as your guide do a happy dance when he pulls up at 1:50am because it IS something to celebrate he will make this experience one you will never forget. Last word of advice: BOOK THIS TRIP! it was the more expensive option of the two companies we were presented with but this day worked out best for our vacation itinerary which meant going with this company- I saw the other company who will remain anonymous arrive at Haleakala & it was a good 20-30 minutes behind us. My wife and I agree that our van tour of the Road to Hana was the best thing we did on Maui. Our driver and guide was Sue, and from the look of the other reviews thus far, it might be worth specifically requesting her as your tour guide if she's doing one at a time that you're available. She picked us up at our resort right on time and made one other stop for a third person -- that was it, a nice small group that provided for great individual interaction throughout the tour. Sue's depth and breadth of knowledge of Hawaiian geography, geology, meteorology, history, people, culture and mythology, not to mention her incredible botanical knowledge (did I miss anything? Probably!) will have your head spinning with awesome facts that you'll wish you could remember even half of by the end of the trip. The information is fast-paced and fascinating, and it provides a great additional dimension to the visual stimulus all around you as the van makes its way through the winding road to Hana. We made a number of stops along the way, and Sue was happy to take suggestions on whether or not to stop at certain places, time permitting. Lunch at the halfway point of our journey was delicious and healthy, a chicken wrap that even sounded good when it was described over the phone when I booked the tour. While we did make several stops for photo opportunities, I only wish I had more of them -- I found myself trying to get photos through the glass of the van window while moving, where I would have loved to stop just for a few seconds to get a clean shot. However, I do recognize that there are safety issues involved and that you have to make some compromises if you are going to take the comfortable, stress-free tour rather than pull your hair out trying to drive yourself. And that brings us to the one, true regret of the entire trip -- it didn't occur to me to have cash on me ahead of time, and when I came to the realization that we weren't going to be passing by any ATMs on the way back, my wife and I scrambled to gather all of the cash we had so that we could give Sue a tip for her incredible tour. All we could manage was a crumpled handful of singles between us, and although she was gracious and happy for it, I felt truly awful because it was worth so much more. read more

We went on the Hana Cave Quest with Tony Perry as our private guide for party of five. This was the highlight of our trip. The reason is simple - it is Tony. He is a local who grew up in Hana with a high school graduating class of 11. He knows people in town, history of all the plants, secret places to visit. You cannot ask for a better tour guide to drive the windy roads to Hana. He is the only person in this tour company who grew up in Hana and is not a transplant to Maui. Let me tell you please don't attempt to drive the windy roads yourself. It is not that you can't drive it but that you won't be enjoying it as much because you will be focused on driving instead of the unbelievable scenery. We saw a car off the side of the road because they were not prepared for the tiny winding roads. The views and scenery are exactly what you imagined Hawaii to be. There are abundant fruit trees, trees and flowers galore. Tony pointed out all the different variety of fruits just growing in the wild - apple banana, guavas fallen on the road, lychee, longine, plum trees, pineapples, coconuts, avocados, etc. It is ridiculous how many fruit trees are just growing in the wild here. It is so lush and green. Driving the road to Hana finally gave us a sense that we are in Hawaii away from the tourist laden areas of Maui. We went to the Hana lava tube caverns. If you think about what you are about to see, it is pretty amazing. This dark cool cave was created by lave flows so many years ago. You do have to climb down many steps so be alert. We stopped by Wai'anapanapa State Park and hiked down to the black sand beach. We hiked a bit further up and around to two other smaller black sand beach and blow hole. It was a nice hike about 15 minutes or so. The views are beautiful! Again thanks to Tony for showing us around this state park. His dad used to work here as a park ranger. We stopped one of the larger waterfalls at top of Hana road. Once again, because of Tony's experience, he knew to tell us not to go in the waterfall. The waters were too muddy so that meant there were a lot of rain at the top of the mountain which creates dangerous sudden flash flooding down in the waterfalls. There were so many other areas Tony took us to visit during our trip. If you go on road to Hana, make sure you ask for Tony Perry because not only does he know Hana and he is a kind and humble man. He is obviously proud of his home town and has extensive knowledge of the island. read more

My husband and I only had 6 days in Maui and we really wanted to pack as much activities as we can. We heard about this Hana Sky Trek tour with Temptation tour, which was essentially a tour to Hana one way, and then return by helicopter. We thought that this would be a really great way to see Maui and save time. The only thing was the steep price tag ($312pp). I mulled over whether to do this or not (or to actually do the drive ourselves), but finally decided to try it based on the great reviews I found online. Maybe because of the steep price tag, I had a really HIGH expectation of this tour. And maybe due to the the really high expectation, the tour really didn't deliver. The first part of the tour was the drive to Hana. We were in this nice, luxury van (leather seat), which only seat 6 people. The guide was a little too quiet, he didn't really take time to explain things and during the whole drive I felt that we probably would have been better off driving on our own. He did bring us to a wonderful banana bread place (I think it was called the halfway to hana stand). We had lunch at the black sand beach, and then drove over to the Hana airport where we continued the second part of the tour, which was the helicopter ride. The helicopter ride itself was wonderful! This was my first time so I was so excited! Too bad that the Haleakala crater was closed that day so we were not able to do a tour over the volcano. The only critique I had was they originally said that the helicopter tour would be around 40-50 minutes. However, our ride was over in 30 minutes. read more

We had a great time touring around Hana. My family loved the hospitality of tempatation tours. We had a breathtaking view via helicopter ride and must say pilot was very experienced. Then we had a tour on road and I would like to thank Gayle for giving us such a wonderful experience of Hana. She is a very knowledgeable guide who gave us lot of interesting facts about Hana. My husband and I booked the Road to Hana Ultimate tour during our stay in Maui. Gayle was our driver and she was absolutely fabulous. We were given a pick up time in the morning and the limo-van arrived exactly as scheduled. Our first stop was for a delicious breakfast. The wait staff was kind, the food was quick, and Gayle broke the ice and got all the guests talking with one another. Throughout the drive, she taught us about the history of Hawaii and specifics of Maui, as well as answered any questions we had, and even taught us about the Hawaiians driving by on their way to hunt in the mountains. She loved pointing out the waterfalls we drove past, and would give us warnings before we reached gorgeous scenes so we could get our cameras ready. She would also slow down to ensure we got good photos! For lunch, they typically stop at a restaurant in Hana, however they are closed currently so we got a catered lunch at a park under a pavilion, which was also delicious. We made several stops along the way, and Gayle made sure to check in with everyone during the drive to make sure no one was getting carsick or needing to stop at a restroom (she also gave us estimates of when we'd reach the next restroom). Every bit of this tour was phenomenal; from the waterfall we got to swim at, to the black sand beach, to the telling of the history of Hawaii. The van was extremely comfortable (and has USB ports so you can charge your devices if you bring a cable!) and the drive was very smooth. If you're considering this tour, I absolutely recommend it! I went on the Haleakala Tour and the tour guide name was Al. First of all I want to start off by saying that he is a REALLY NICE and accommodating guy! Because of his sweet personality, it made the overall tour even better. I was told that I'd be picked up outside my hotel at 2:15 am. Al called around that time saying that he was running a little late. He came about 20 min later. Come to find out, it wasn't his fault, but rather the first guest that he picked up had overslept. She was the one that told me, and I thought that was kind of him to say that he was running late & not blame the customer. Unfortunately, that put us a tad bit behind on our way up to the crater, which is a very windy road. I felt that he was driving extra fast to get to the top so that we wouldn't miss the sunrise. I took a Bonine before the tour, so I was fine, however 2 of the ladies in the van physically got sick & vomited in the bathroom. I think next time, if a customer is running more than 5-10 min late, then they should go on without them. It's not fair to risk missing the sunrise for the rest of the customers who paid good money to see it. Fortunately, we were able to make it on time and got some outstanding photos of the sunrise. It was absolutely beautiful there! I believe it took us about 2 hours to get to the top and then we waited about an hour before the sunrise. Warning: it is FREEZING cold at the top! I wore jeans, tennis shoes, a long sleeve shirt, jacket, scarf, gloves and Al gave us a blanket, and it was still cold! My hands were numb since I had to take my gloves off to take photos. Come prepared! There were a lot of people there, and Al took us to the best spot for picture taking. On the way back down, we stopped at Kula Lodge for breakfast. My suggestion would be to take this out of the tour. Most of the guests are already very tired from waking up so early and probably just want to get back to their hotel so they can enjoy the rest of their day. I know I did. The van was very comfortable and I believe we just had 6 people total on our tour. Overall it was a good tour and worth the price. read more

He is so friendly and knowledgeable about the land, the landscape, the people, the city and EVERYTHING Maui. We had a great time and enjoyed everywhere he took us. He stopped any time we asked. We took the sky Trek Road to Hana tour. Scottie was our tour guide he was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable & also a great photographer. He really made the trip enjoyable. My wife and I went on the Road to Hana Luxury Tour during our Honeymoon. We were VERY excited for this experience! We heard that Road to Hana was a MUST SEE during our time in Maui. And it was just that... a lot to see, BUT not necessarily a lot to do. Our Tour Guide, Michael, was amazing. Super knowledgeable and friendly. Great driver! I would highly recommend him as tour guide. I think the challenge was that it had rained the days prior to our schedule tour as well as the first half of the day of. It made for some great waterfalls, but because of the silt we were unable to swim. We were expecting more action during this excursion. More time outside of the van enjoying the beauty of Road to Hana. I thought we would truly experience the black sand beach. But for the most part we were just cooped up in a van the whole day stopping at times to snap a few photos. I could see how some people would love this, but for my wife and I (ages 33 and 24), it was just a little boring. I definitely fell asleep in the van at one point. read more

Paul Janes Brown was the most articulate and thoughtful guide on the Road to Hana my wife and I have ever experienced. His encyclopedic knowledge combined with his environmental consciousness made for a very powerful combination.
