Mark was Amazing! Super attentive, caring, and knowledgeable. It felt like we were with family and that's just how I like it. Refreshing to not hear a tired out spiel that's been retold and retold. He kinda felt us out in the beginning to sense our style( laid back vs bus tour guide) He made us laugh, showed us his home island and shared great spots. He was flexible with areas he sensed we wanted more time and moved it along in areas we weren't as interested. Great guy! Great tour! Great day exploring the island while learning about its history and culture from a local Thank you Mark!!! Oh yeah he even showed interest in our kiddos and shared a bit about his. We really loved this tour and appreciate Mark going above and beyond! Thank you Mark and Thank you Hawaii by storm!

We did the full-day Road to Hana tour with Hawaii by Storm, and it was hands down one of the best things we did in Maui. Our guide, Dustyn, was awesome--super chill, super patient, and just a fun guy to hang with. He let us kind of steer the day based on what we were into, but always had great suggestions that made everything better. You could tell he really knows the island and loves what he does. Also... if you're gonna spend an entire day in a car with someone you don't know, you want it to be Dustyn. The guy's just easy to be around. And the vehicle was spotless and super comfortable, which made the whole drive even better. Can't recommend this tour enough. It was a 10 out of 10 day.

Our family did the Epic Road to Hāna tour with Marc and had the best day! I was very nervous that I would be car sick but did not (he even stopped to get me a ginger drink before we started). Marc was a great driver, super knowledgeable and a lot of fun. We saw so much, had a great lunch and made lots of fun stops along the way! Highly recommend!!

My family was visiting and we did the Famous Epic Hana tour. I decided rather than me driving we would get experience and knowledge of an expert. I am glad we did. Mark was excellent - knowledgeable, patient, funny and generally a good guy. Ages ranged from 83 to 13 and everyone had a great time. Highly recommend.

We had an absolutely amazing time on our Road to Hana Tour with Mark! We were able to see all the landmarks on our list and Mark shared his love for Maui and Hawaii with us all. It was a special day!

    Waterfall swimming!

We took the half day Hana tour today and had the best trip. Mike was the best. He was so knowledgeable and friendly. He showed us everything and had a story to tell about all the places and people we met. True Hawaiian spirit and a gorgeous day of sea, wind, rain, forests and streams. Mahalo!

We had a great experience on the Road to Hana last week with our guide Nani! We knew our time to see Maui would go by fast and a tour bus wouldn't cut it. So we searched for a private tour to enjoy the stops for the amount of time we wanted. Hawaii by Storm offered exactly what we were looking for. Nani picked us up right on time, she knew where all the great places were so we didn't miss a thing, and we stopped at every one of them. She looked out for us and kept us on track to see everything we asked about (and all the gems we wouldn't have found on our own). It was great talking with Nani and asking questions about the island, the culture, and the people. Our family had a wonderful time on the tour. We're excited to go back and visit Tobi's Poke and Shave Ice!

Road to Hana. Kainani was THE best guide ever - hands down the best tour guide I have ever had I have a zillion pictures. Black and red sand beaches, a lava tube, turtles and sea lions, rainbow eucalyptus, banana bread, maui chocoate farm,Huli Huli chicken and tons of waterfalls. Plus one scary road

We had the BEST tour of Hana with Mak last week. We debated on making the drive ourselves, but just a few minutes in to the trip, we were appreciating the fact that we booked a tour with Hawaii by Storm instead. First, the entire booking process was a breeze. I accidentally entered the wrong e-mail address and immediately received a phone call from the owner, because the confirmation e-mail was rejected and he wanted to check on the e-mail address. Then, the night before our tour, Mak called to introduce himself and give us the run down for the next day. Mak arrived right on time and after just meeting our family once, called everyone by name and treated us like family the rest of the day. Our first stop was the Island Market for breakfast. Since we had just arrived the day before, being introduced to this gem was a huge game-changer for the rest of our trip! On the trip, we always felt confident in Mak's driving and safe on a road that is quite challenging. As we drove, Mak shared stories and history of the island and answered many questions. He shares a love of basketball with our boys, so he even shared some information about pickup ball on the island and NBA trivia. Our stops and timing we planned perfectly. We made a few stops on the way up to Hana, but left some of the busier ones for the way home. One of those was a waterfall that was teeming with people on our way up. Our teenage son admitted that if Mak wasn't driving, he would have demanded we stop to swim! But, as Mak predicted, the waterfalls weren't busy at all when we stopped. Every stop was perfect and Mak did a great job of making sure we knew what to do at the stops and what rules were important to follow for our safety as well as respect for locals and Hawaiian culture. One of the stops my kids raved about the most was lunch! Mak recommended the poke nachos at the food trucks in Hana and we are still talking about how good they were. Everywhere we went, even while driving, Mak knew everyone. We heard stories about family, growing up on the island as a kid, and the Hawaiian ancestors and culture. He also knew exactly where to take photos both from the car or at the stops. We have tons of family photos from the trip. Over and over, our family kept saying that we were so thankful we decided to book the tour. The general consensus was that we would have probably missed a lot of great stops, and fought a lot if we decided to drive the road alone. Book Hawaii by Storm and request Mak. You won't regret it!

All I can say is that if you get Dustyn as your driver, you are going to have a GREAT time! If you get any driver from Hawaii by Storm, I also think you'll have a great time! Great company to deal with. Easy to book. Great communication. For our tour to Hana and Back, we had Dustyn - and as mentioned, he was amazing and did not disappoint! By the end of the day, it was like being in the car with family! You can do as many or as few things as you want along the route. Dustyn was a great driver and it was a blessing to be able to sightsee and not have to worry about driving. The Road to Hana was beautiful. If you're thinking about doing a tour with Hawaii By Storm, don't think anymore - book it!

Booked the Half Day Hana tour with Hawaii by Storm and it was amazing! Our guide Mak was the absolute best! I can't imagine anyone knowing more history and knowledge of this beautiful place! We would have never driven this road on our own, but I think Mak could do it blindfolded! We saw things and did things we never would have done on our own. This tour is worth every penny! Tip your tour guides well, they deserve it!

I'd done RTH years ago with a group style excursion company and let me tell you, there's no way I could ever go back after having hands down the best experience ever with Hawaii by Storm. Who went: Me (37), my son (12), my parents (mid 60's) Our Guide: Makana E. is one of the most genuine, knowledgeable, and friendliest people we've ever encountered. He called to introduce himself the night before, walked us through the game-plan for the following day, and really hyped us up for the best adventure ever. Let me tell you, he absolutely delivered. He made what is arguably one of the toughest drives look like a piece of cake. He's a native to the island and knows both the road and stops like the back of his hand. He knew us by name by the first stop, treated us all like family the whole way through, making sure we knew when the next stop was coming up, where restrooms would be, introduced us to his contacts around the island and at each stop, and provided history and facts about the island with a passion that only a native with long roots can provide. Makana shared a little bit of himself throughout the trip in the form of playing Hawaiian music relevant to stops along the way, and even brought out a ukulele to play songs he composed. One of the most memorable moments was eating a platter of freshly picked local fruit, sitting in a bamboo forest, while he played and sang us a song. It brought a tear to my eyes. It was a very touching and genuine moment for all of us. One my family and I will remember forever. The Vehicle: Their top of the line SUV will make you feel like royalty. This made the long and winding road feel like just another day out on the town. This is not a some off the lot vehicle with a decal on the door. Hawaii by Storm vehicle was a fully tricked out, luxury, exploring vehicle. It's in pristine condition with tons of room for passengers. All leather, plush seats that recline any which way including all rows having the option to fold back giving you a very comfortable ride if you wanna take a quick nap between stops. Fully adjustable climate control for all passengers. Full panoramic glass roof which we used the whole trip to see above and around us including opening it up to make the experience more immersive. Middle row seats that fully slide up to give rear row passengers easy access to get on and off for the numerous stops and photo opportunities. This REALLY won us over because getting in and out can be tedious, especially with kids and older parents. This was a lifesaver. Lots of room for belongings that you'll need, and souvenirs you'll want to pick up, and fast charging ports everywhere for every passenger to access. Last but not least, it is lifted and off-road capable. We SAFELY and COMFORTABLY accessed several hidden gems off the side of the road that are only available by using their SUV. I wish I owned one of these things. It's that nice! The Route/Stops: Makana took us counter-clockwise, or the "backwards" route, and again, I'll never go back to the old way of doing it. Not only do you skip all the morning traffic, but all major stops happen toward the back/center of the island so you never miss the sunniest part of the day in the most beautiful spots, yet you still make up for it by gaining time to make additional stops. I cannot stress it enough, having your own vehicle with Hawaii by storm is worth its weight in gold when it comes to the number of stops you can make. With larger groups you can easily lose HOURS picking people up and dropping them off along the way. No one goes to Maui to be a taxi. You go for an experience and to maximize the number of things you can see. With Hawaii by Storm that's exactly what you'll get. You name it; gorgeous highlands over looking the oceans, small villages with taro farms dating back hundreds of years, waterfalls galore with local knowledge of safe jumping spots, lush rainforests, black sand beaches, local gardens, sea turtles, the best local roadside eats including fresh local fruit platters, banana bread, and THE ORIGINAL huli huli chicken, we made every stop you could ever want to make on RTH. We never felt rushed, and were given plenty of time to free roaming around the stops for photo opportunities and exploring. Overall Experience: I will get straight to the point. Anyone can drive you around the island, point out local wildlife and fauna, and spit out historical facts. This however was a completely different type of tour. This was a 100% thought out and personalized immersive experience with a guide who became more like extended ohana (family) instead of a "guide." You simply cannot match the local knowledge and warm welcome, that only Makana and Hawaii by Storm are able to provide. If you're in Maui for RTH, I promise you won't find a more memorable experience. To Makana and Sean at Hawaii by Storm, thank you for making this such a memorable trip. You guys are best in class, and we will be back.

My girlfriends family and I did the full day Hana and back tour with Mak and it was actually the most fun I've ever had. Bro had a story for every single question I asked and was very very knowledgeable on Hawaii and Maui's history. 10/10 trip and 12/10 guide. If you're planning on taking this trip, request mak!!

Lots of waterfalls on the RTH.

We have taken three of their "Morning Walks" with our grandkids and it's a perfect introduction to hiking. Honestly we've had three different ...wonderful.. experiences. It's not strenuous and you're taken back to some private land that you'd not have access to if you just drove up and parked (if you found a parking spot) and hiked back in. We were lucky to have the lovely, fun, and knowledgeable guide named Randolyn ..aka Ran. She was the perfect blend of kind, patient and engaging with the grandkids, and very helpful with us old folks! Brian was just soo fun, and soo informative. He balanced all our interests absolutely wonderfully, it was just amazing. The kid was thrilled with the his dino costume (Oh my god! the costume, he wore it on the Entire trip except when jumping off the rocks ofcourse), the adult in the other group with all the geological tectonics knowledge that flowed like an uninterrupted volcano from his mouth...non stop, and me with all the native plant life info. The Hala tree amazed me and so did the big red flower- torch ginger, which actually looks like a vibrant staff fit for a king. I would never have learnt about them in detail if not for this trip. All this besides the actual trip to the waterfalls, the encouragement he gave to the other group was astounding (I don't swim myself unfortunately, or the fun would have tripled for me). He supported, guided, advised, and made them have the time of their life with the diving and the swimming. Three cheers to the B.Rex. Hike Maui site itself had useful info for the walk and I brought the water shoes after reading about it on their site, it really worked great out there. Pick up was right on time and the directions were pretty clear, but u could have mentioned near Kahului Park and Ride, I mistook the 8 min drive for 8 min walk, and walked up from my hotel ! Hike Maui arranged for backpacks and that was very useful too. To just it throw it on our shoulders and walk freely. The little snacks were good after the walk. The best part was the passion fruit which was handed out as a parting gift. It was my first time to eat that fruit too. Note: The waterfalls are accessible privately with rental car too. You could explore the area in your own sweet time. But I did notice there were not many signs with specific directions inside the forest. And no labels on the plants. Most places no mobile signals either. That said, you could do it on your own. I cannot say enough about this trip. It is for all ages and a great little Maui to explore comfortably. PS: Hope Brian wins the Halloween costume contest today ( 31st Oct 2025)

The answer was Yes, one can change into swimsuits during lunch before the black sand beach visit and then change out of them at a stop after the waterfall stop to be dry for the ride back to the hotels. A few days before our tour I received an email confirmation that included other useful information, such as bring along swimwear, towels, water shoes and a light jacket for the air conditioned van. I had not considered the A/C and I'm always cold, so that is a very welcome heads-up. On the day of our tour we received texts that the driver was on his way. Pretty close to the scheduled meeting time the van pulled up to our resort. The van was spacious with huge windows. Our tour was full with all 12 passenger seats occupied. Our driver/guide was Travis. He was born and raised in Hana and was a wealth of knowledge about Hana, Maui, and Hawaii. He seemed to be related to all the locals he passed on the road. There was not dull moment. Among the stops along the way were Maui Tropical Plantation for breakfast, Auntie Sandy's Banana Bread stand for those that wished to purchase, Wai'anapanapa State Park (black sand beach, also with a lava tube and a blow hole), Pua'a Ka'a State Wayside Park (usually calm enough to swim but the falls were roaring due to rain earlier in the day), and Ho'okipa Beach with turtles on the beach. Travis was an excellent driver and guide. We got great value from the cost of the excursion. One minor thing did bother us. We are Jewish and were uncomfortable during the praising Jesus sing-along.
