On a vacation filled with great experiences, our Road to Hana tour was one of the highlights. Our guide, Kea, was phenomenal. He arrived early and texted his location. When we met him, he immediately committed our names to memory, and treated us like old friends all day. Kea did an amazing job of connecting with our 6-year-old son and kept him involved throughout the tour. I've done the Road to Hana twice before, but this was easily the best. Kea showed us things we hadn't seen, gave us interesting history lessons, and taught us a lot about the Hawaiian language and culture. He continually went above and beyond to make our tour unforgettable. I would encourage everyone to experience the Road to Hana, but it's so much better when you don't have to do the driving. Do yourself a favor and ask for Kea! read more

Jasmine created an individualized tour for our group of 4 & took us from Paia through Hana & around the North & East side of Haleakala. Highlights of the tour included: beautiful farmlands and cows, homemade banana bread stands, numerous stories and history of the island and a stop in Hana for delicious lunch. We went into a lava tube, saw a blow hole off of a black sand beach, jumped into a water pool just underneath a waterfall, hiked into a bamboo Forrest, saw the grave of Charles Lindbergh, and many many breathtaking views. I can't say enough about how "once in a lifetime " this tour was! I highly recommend taking the opportunity to explore all that the island has to offer with Holo Holo Maui private tours. Oh, I almost forgot! We were in a great Ford Bronco with convertible top!! read more

We took a private tour in Maui from our cruise ship to explore and learn about Haleakalā National Park. We did the Haleakalā Summit and Stroll tour. Our guide was Jasmine, and she picked us up right at the pier with a private van. Our goal was to learn as much as we could about the park. My son wanted to earn his Junior Ranger badge. Jasmine brought the printed booklet for him, and he was able to finish it easily because she explained everything in a very fun and educational way. We hiked through Hosmer Grove, and she showed us local plants and animals. We even saw the ʻIʻiwi bird and the Nēnē (Hawaiian Goose). She told us many interesting things about these beautiful animals. Then we went all the way to the summit. It felt like another world. We learned about the silversword plant, the landscape, and the crater. It was very interesting and educational. This was the best excursion of our whole cruise. We stopped at many viewpoints and enjoyed delicious snacks. Jasmine shared amazing history, geology, and even stories about modern life in Hawaii. She grew up on the island, so she knows everything about the land, culture, and nature. We could not have asked for a better guide. I totally recommend this tour. It is worth every dollar. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. It was the highlight of our cruise. read more

Our Taste of Hana private tour was everything we wanted and nothing we didn't! Our guide Kea was amazing ! He was knowledgeable, friendly, funny and made sure our tour was customized to what we wanted to do and that we were happy. We had hesitations about being on the road for 7-8 hours- but we were so glad we did it! Highly recommend this company - ask for KEA!!! read more

This is by far the most amazing experience you could ask for in Maui! Holo holo Maui tours never disappoints. I have been on multiple tours and each one feels like a first. Jasmine has a way of bringing the history, culture and sites of the island into your soul. I highly recommend this tour!!! This time we saw the bamboo forest, many waterfalls (one of which we jumped off of), learned about the rock walls and many mythical stories about the island. We enjoyed the black sand beach, local shops, priceless views and lava tubes! If you're on the fence about this tour....DO IT....it's unforgettable! Thank you Holo holo Maui tours...again!!!! read more

My fiancé and I did the Road to Hāna today- my travel agent recommended this tour and I'm so glad she did. Kea was absolutely incredible throughout the entire experience. He walked us through the major sites and shared rich history of Hawai'i and incredible facts.. the sights alone would have been beyond entertaining but Kea really added to our experience and was such a joy to ride along with. I highly recommend this particular tour- they take you through the most wonderful sites, stop at the right times and are so informative and kind. Thank you Holo Holo Maui and we hope to ride with you all again sometime :) read more

Yvonne took us on the Road to Hana tour. It was great being in a jeep and not driving ourselves lets us see everything without worrying about the road. We ate at the Huli Huli Chicken stand. Really great food! Huge portions worth splitting. It was by a red sand beach. We visited the black sand beach and it was very scenic and different. Multiple blow holes and lava tube. Saw the rainbow eucalyptus and ate very good banana bread. Swam in a freshwater pool with a waterfall. Yvonne had a zest for life and adventure. It was worth it to us. read more

My husband and I did the Taste of Hāna (Halfway to Hāna Town) tour with Kea and it was absolutely amazing. We both can get motion sick, but Kea was such a great driver and kept us engaged the whole time that we felt fine the whole ride (the hana tonic we both drank probably helped, too). Kea taught us about all the native and non-native plants of Maui and their Hawa'aian names as well as some of the history of Maui's people and culture. We learned so much from him! He brought us to all the best scenic points and was a pro at taking pics of us along the way. The fresh banana bread he got for us along the way really lived up to its reputation, and the lunch we bought from Keanae's Hukipa'a Fish Shack was tasty as well. Kea also gave us a bunch of recs for places to go the rest of our trip in Maui. Could not recommend him and Holo Holo Maui Tours enough. read more

Really happy with the deluxe tour of Halfway to Hana. It was truly deluxe in that we had our own personal tour guide, Gus, who explained so much of the history of Hawaii as well as all about the flora and fauna we encountered. It was one of the best parts of our first trip to the island and won't soon be forgotten. Thanks, Gus for a wonderful day!! read more

Don't think my mother in law, in her late 70s be able to take a 10hr road to Hana tour. So, I was lucky to find one that's half the time and starts on various time slots. My impression of them was more than expected. For example, Jasmin was great in getting back to me when I decided to add pick up option on the last minute. And on the day of the tour, Gus was on time. On our way to Hana, Gus gave us alot of history of Maui. And him being close to the locals told us alot about the economic challenges and happenings of the locals. I can tell he truly love the land and the people. In addition, him being an ardent gardener, he was able to identify many plants and trees. I will definitely use them again. read more

We just got back from our excursion to Haleakala Crater with Kea as our tour guide. Kea was informative, responsive to questions and attentive to my husband's handicap and our slower pace needs. He kept us in the loop as to what our stops would be and if all that wasn't enough, he was also a great photographer capturing our picture every step of the way. By far will be one of our most memorable days here in Maui. read more

Our family of 5 had an amazing day with Kea! He was easy going, funny, and patient with our many questions. He is extremely knowledgable and passionate about Maui and it's history, it was inspiring. Our teenage kids hung on his every word, and he was a young and super cool guy. He is fluent in Hawaiian and taught is a lot about pronunciation and the language. We couldn't have asked for a better guide for our family. Thanks Kea! read more

My husband and I had an amazing time on our "Bamboo Forest Trek" Road to Hana tour. Gus was a great guide, had so much information and knowledge to pass on. Hiking the Pipiwai Trail, we were told some much great info on the plants and nature. We stopped in Hana at the food trucks, jumped in a freshwater pool under a waterfall, and saw sun bathing sea turtles near Paia. I am SO glad we decided not to drive the Road to Hana ourselves. It was just a great tour all around. Also thanks to Joe, who was a great guide too! Thanks so much! read more

Going on the Holo Holo Hana all the way around tour was a highlight of our trip to Maui. As a private tour they adapted to what we wanted to do. We saw plenty of the bigger tours at various stops dumping out a bunch of people and we were glad we got to go to some of the smaller areas. Kea was amazing and so very knowledgeable. My wife can get car sick but she had no problems with his driving. It was also nice that both of us got to look out and see all the sights instead of one of us white knuckling the corners and bridges. I was even more glad that we didn't have to drive the south part of the "road." Kea also took some great photos of us. We definitely give our highest recommendation to both Holo Holo and Kea. Thank you so much! read more

They did a great job. We enjoyed the tour, especially since we didn't have to share the van with anyone.

Jasmine is AMAZING! After realizing both me and my husband were too chicken to drive the Road to Hana, we decided to go on a tour. I knew the husband would probably be exhausted if we did a whole day in Hana so we decided to do the Taste of Hana tour and go halfway. Jasmine was great in answering any questions we had beforehand. I had told her I had sprained my foot right before flying to Maui so we did not do too much hiking but got to see all the amazing views and waterfalls. Jasmine was such a great story teller and educated us about Hawaii's history and culture. Thank you so much! Ps. Thanks for getting us the last banana bread! :) read more

I cruise a good deal, and therefore use tour companies. I also travel a good deal and use tour companies. Holo Holo was by far the best tour I have ever been on. Jasmine was super informative, friendly, helpful, and knew all the right places to take us. We were never rushed and even took longer than our "tour time ", but still never felt like she was rushing us. Along our travels we also met her husband Gus, whom she owns the company with, as well as her other driver. They were both super friendly! I couldn't recommend this company any higher. 5*. 10+. Thumbs up. If you are heading to Maui make sure you don't miss out. Book a private tour with Holo Holo!!! read more

The boyfriend booked this tour so I can't take the credit for this but we had Gus for our tour guide and he was amazing! We were able to see waterfalls without the crowds with his expertise guidance into the rain forest it was unforgettable. He knew every turn and was able to stop at the yummy fruit stands for some fresh sugar cane juice, vegan coconut ice cream, the best bbq on the island and of course banana bread! He's very personable and so enthusiastic! Loved his stories about the history of the island and info on different plants. But the best part he was our very own personal photographer and was able to capture all of our special moments! Thank you so much Holo Holo for an unforgettable tour we will always remember it! Shout out to his wife jasmine for being so responsive and great with answering all of our questions about weather before the tour! read more

We highly recommend taking a tour with Holo Holo Maui Tours! My family (with 2 teenagers) did the West Maui Tour that included the Iao Valley. Our tour guide was Gus and he was absolutely amazing! It was the highlight of our Maui trip and having a personal tour guide made everything stress free and the ideal vacation experience. Book with them today! read more

We recently did a West Maui/Iao Valley tour with Jasmine from Holo Holo, and we could not have gotten any luckier--she was AMAZING! My husband and I are still talking about the amazing day we had, and how much we liked Jasmine. She was so responsive and helpful via e-mail from the very beginning, and was totally open to customizing our tour--even planning a stop for lunch at a restaurant we wanted to try. In fact, when that restaurant ended up being closed, she took us to The Mill House at Maui Tropical Plantation, which ended up being one of my FAVORITE stops of the day! (If you don't go there on your tour, make sure you go their on your own one day--incredible.) Jasmine is a Maui native and is genuinely interested in teaching you about Maui and Hawaiian history and culture, and sharing her love for her island with you! We learned so much and were so comfortable with her--I felt like we were friends from the minute we met her! She was also more than willing to take pictures and videos of us! She was like our own personal photographer for the day :) Jasmine will customize the tour based on your interests and abilities. We wanted a semi-active/adventurous tour with lots of nice scenery, and that's just what we got! We did some hiking, even climbing down the roots of a Banyan tree to a waterfall, took a few dips in the ocean (Olivine Pools, some other waterfall pools), saw the blowhole...we just can't imagine having a better day. You will not regret booking Holo Holo--and lucky you if you get Jasmine as your guide! Thought I'm confident that all of their guides are wonderful. We've done many private tours before (even on Maui before), and Jasmine was hands-down the best! When we come back to Maui, contacting Jasmine at Holo Holo is the first thing I'll do! read more

Wounderful private tour. Definitely the way to go if you want to do the Hana drive. Gus our driver/tour guide knows the nooks and crannies of Maui and can provide a personalized tour to suit your needs. The road to Hana is tricky to drive and the mile markers are not that helpful if you try to drive it on your own. If you don't know exactly where you are going it can be difficult because overgrowth can interfere with you finding markers you may be looking for, so you end up wasting your time. Taking this tour was definitely worth it. :) read more

This was our first trip to Hawai'i. We stayed on the Big Island and did 2 day trips- one to Maui. This tour, which was just 4 people (our group) was simply fantastic. The tour was "Taste of Hana" which was a comfortable mini-van from the Maui airport along the Road to Hana, with multiple stops to look, take pictures and just experience the road to Hana. But, hands-down, the BEST part was our tour guide, Jasmine!! She was just amazing. Engaging, enthusiastic and with a seemingly limitless knowledge of Hawai'i - ancient and new. A true native Hawaiian, born and raised in Maui, it was a cultural immersion that we experienced. At times, it was like watching professional theatre! We had such an amazing time and would wholeheartedly recommend this tour company if you have the great fortune to visit Maui. And ask for Jasmine! You won't be disappointed!! Aloha! read more

We had THE BEST time with Holo Holo Maui Tours, thanks especially to our AMAZING guide, Sami! She is fun and energizing, yet cool, calm and collected; knows all the best spots for photos and stops along the way and most importantly of all is steeped in her native culture from island history and lore to botanical tidbits. You'll have a great time, particularly if you prefer seclusion, as we did, as go for a private tour. It was exactly what we'd dreamed it would be. The Road to Hana was stunning and we will not soon forget our adventures that day. read more

I did some research prior to our trip and knew I wanted to see many things on the road to Hana. ....Private tour with Jasmine definitely way to go!!!! Our girls ages 11 & 14 thought I was crazy when I said we would be gone the whole day, the fear of boredom was there. This was the most spectacular thing we could have done! Jasmine is full of knowledge and interesting facts, that my 11 year old unbeknownst to me had taken notes on her phone of what she learned! That's impressive! We saw so many amazing places and hiked places I never thought we would! My teen and husband went on a crazy adventure part with Jasmine they will never forget!! We would definitely go with Jasmine again when we come back and tell everyone who wants to see Hana the right way about her!!! She also was our personal photographer and took family pictures of us that we normally would never have! We ate at some great places along the way and she gave us some excellent tips for other activities while we are here in Maui! We got to take our time at the sites we wanted but she made sure to keep us moving so we can see everything! Thank you Jasmine!! Thought about driving ourselves and taking a bus tour with a group but there were many reasons to avoid that! The first was the thought of being stuck on a van with 10 other strangers for 12 hours, the other my 11 year old gets car sick and not being able to stop when needed and last having to be on a sort of "milk wagon" stopping and seeing then getting back on, plus yelling at my husband while driving up that hairy road! Definitely for an experienced driver!! read more

My husband and I were on our Honeymoon in Maui and knew that we wanted to do the Road to Hana - however, a long 12 hour Bus Tour was not appealing to us, and we didn't want to deal with the stress of driving it on our own. After some quick Google research, we chose Holo Holo and booked the 6-hour Taste of Hana Tour ... it was one of the best decisions we made throughout our whole trip! We were lucky enough to have Gus as our own, personal tour guide (for those of you Game of Thrones fans, he resembles Jamie Lannister!) He was so incredibly personable - we felt like we were hanging out with a friend all day! He was also extremely knowledgeable about the area, and took us to "hidden treasures" rather than the Tourists traps on the Road to Hana. The highlight for us was hiking in the rainforest up to a secluded waterfall, and then channeling our inner Jason Siegel and Mila Kunis from "Forgetting Sarah Marshall", and jumping off the waterfall cliff! Gus was also extremely passionate and informative about the history & culture of the area and the vegetation - believe it or not, it was so fun and interesting to see, feel, smell and (sometimes) taste all of the different plants, trees & fruits around us that we weren't familiar with. Another huge plus....? Gus was our own, personal photographer! Awkward selfie-stick photos were not needed, and we have now a beautiful album of memories from that day. This is DEFINITELY the way to go if you want to do the Hana drive - you will not regret it! We hope to be back in Maui one day to see Gus (and his wife Jasmine) again! read more

Holo Holo was recommended by another tour guide that needed to cancel last minute. We originally planned to do a 12 hour tour, but after that tour was canceled we settled on the 'Taste of Hana' 6 hour tour instead. They were great! Haley was our tour guide and I can't say enough about her. She was very knowledgeable about the island and gave us many facts about the plants and scenery on the road to Hana. I also felt safe having her as our driver on such a curvy road. I definitely have more of an appreciation for Maui after touring the road to Hana. read more

Gus was fantastic! Super knowledgeable and incredibly friendly! Truly an amazing day and one we will never forget!!!

We were on the Pride of Americas with an elderly mom looking for private tours / driver / taxi service. It was hard to find at all locations, but on Maui I ended up coming across Holo Holo, and I was very pleased, end to end, with the experience. first, if you hunt around, you'll quickly realize the Holo Holo website is exceptional for easy to use/find/information on services offered and costs. Second, if you email questions, Jasmine will pleasantly answer very quickly. Both of the above are not givens with everyone as you explore various companies. We hired Holo Holo for their "Taste of Hana" tour. We spent 6 hours in a nice, newer, 12 passenger "econoline" type van. Jasmine was actually out of town on our tour day, and we had Rodney for a driver. Rodney is a long time Maui resident and surfer. Everywhere we went, people knew Rodney. He is pleasant, funny, full of stories and history, and took good care of my 80 year old mother. He even had gone out in the garden that morning and hand-made a lei for my mom. (this is just an example of the graciousness provided, the lei is not an offering of Holo Holo.) The Holo Holo tour, and Rodney, was a highlight of our week. From start to finish, it was a great experience and one that all 8 of us would highly recommend. Visited April 2016 read more

Jasmine is owner of Holo Holo. We spent a day with her as she toured us around the road to Hana. She is the most amazing woman. Vibrant, excited to teach, knowledgable, informed, fun. She knows her Maui history and culture extremely well. She was able to answer virtually every question we asked her thoroughly and deeply. We loved our day with Jasmine, a day well worth the expense. We not only got a tour of the places on the road to Hana that we never knew existed, but also got a really interesting and fun-filled day. Holo Holo is terrific. read more
