Temporal absolutely delivered on every level. They start you off with some complimentary bread with a spread and a cilantro dipping oil- both amazing. We then kicked things off with the arancini, which set the tone right away--crispy, flavorful, and perfectly done. For mains, we shared a spread and honestly couldn't pick a favorite: the Octopus Tacos were tender and packed with flavor, the Rabbit Tacos were unique and delicious, and the roasted seasonal vegetables "al mojo de ajo" were simple but so satisfying. The marinated pan-fried salmon and fresh trout were both beautifully cooked and thoughtfully seasoned. Every dish felt intentional, beautifully presented and well executed. But the real showstoppers were the desserts. The fresh goat cheesecake with orange, grapefruit, and lemon was bright and perfectly balanced, and the whisky chocolate crème brûlée was rich, smooth, and unforgettable. Desserts truly knocked it out of the park. Bonus points for the cocktails--my hubby was a huge fan. Great atmosphere, good service, and an enjoyable conversation with Diego, the owner and chef. We, unfortunately, speak little Spanish and the servers spoke little English. Diego is fluent in both languages and came to our table to talk about menu items, how dishes were prepared, and help us learn about some ingredients that are not common to the US. We ordered appetizers (arancini and a roasted tomato soup) and both were delicious and fresh. Then entrees - a sea bass and shrimp dish with an outstanding sauce, and a slow-roasted lamb shoulder. Both were terrific. Portion sizes were just right; we could have eaten more because it was all so good, but we were glad that the plates weren't overloaded. Dessert was an apple crumble and a Neapolitan flan. Again, both were delicious. So glad we found this gem! Will be happy to return on our next trip to CDMX. The interior is a beautiful, open space with lots windows and plants. We had excellent service and the ambience was quiet but not too quiet. Nice mix of locals and travelers. Cozy, intimate and friendly are what I would describe this place. Service was very quick and attentive. I would take my family or my date here. I tried their popular rabbit tacos and they were so good. The bread they offer was good when paired with the dipping sauce. I am not sure what the sauce was called but it was tangy, olive-like. There weren't too many people there so I wasn't sure what to expect. I had heard to try the rabbit tavos and they were AMAZING! I've had rabbit before but this was another level of delicious! We really enjoyed our dinner here last night. We came around 7 pm on a Saturday night, and it was easy to get a reservation. The restaurant serves elevated Mexican food and has what appeared to be a great wine menu, and tasty cocktails. We drank the suerte de dragon cocktail which had just the right amount of spicyness and we liked it so much we both had 2 of them. We shared the octopus tacos (our favorite), crab cake sopes, and the braised beef short ribs. Loved the octopus tacos, the crab sopes were not our favorite. The braised beef short rib was very tender, but a little lacking in flavor. The star of the night for us was their delicious salsa verde, which we needed to add to everything to make the flavor and spice level perfect. If you like good salsas, you must ask for it! read more

Temporal was an unexpected highlight of my Mexico City trip! My first visit was originally just going to be a pre-dinner drink, but after I had their excellently made martini I decided to do their 4-piece prix fixe menu. The meal components were balanced in such a way that I felt pleasantly full, with the quinoa salad, small goat taco, bacalao, and fruit crumble being uniformly well-made and expertly presented. A second visit confirmed that their cocktail game is superb, with both the tamarind margarita and the mezcal sour bringing a balanced tartness to tequila. Everything was so fresh, we had the roasted cauliflower which was toasted to perfection and comes with a sprinkling of sour cream and what appeared to me to be bread crumbs so delicious! I tried the espaldilla de cordero which is the braised lamb and the octopus tacos as well. The braised lamb was so tender. The octopus on the tacos was very tender as well and they use handmade tortillas. Definitely a must try! The goat cheesecake was quite tasty as well. Went here for my more expensive meal while in Mexico City. I was excited that they would take a reservation so that I wouldn't have to wait once I arrived I booked it on OpenTable. I started with a Mescal based cocktail and moved onto a Mexican IPA. I had several appetizers, including the olives, the roasted cauliflower and the risotto. For my main dish, I had the picana. The rooster cauliflower was a standout with lots of flavor and different textures. Everything else on the table was also fantastic. The meal came with bread and a garlic oil, dipping sauce, and some fig jelly. After days of having given in to indulging the non-stop culinary temptations of Mexico City, I was finally hungry enough to be ready for a sit-down dinner. I had Ubered past this neat but unostentatious corner restaurant quite a few times and wondered if it might be up to the impression of serious but unpretentious dining that its appearance suggested. Tonight seemed like a good time to give it a try. I was glad that an early table was available. As the exterior had suggested, the ambiance was low key with breathing room. I was seated in a spacious, half-flight-up area open to the levels above and below, with tall, open windows, unfussy wood and metal furnishings, quiet music. The lower level contained the bar with t.v. set. The service was prompt, unostentatious and professional. I was given a menu in English, often not a good sign. Another in Spanish was available. Scanning the listings gave me hope. After considerable dithering (the good kind!) I settled for lamb shoulder with wine and herbs accompanied by whipped saffron potatoes. The Temporal spring salad with burrata, avocado and hearts of palm seemed a promising choice to round out the meal. Good golly Moses! I ate the salad very slowly, savoring every bite of the rich ingredients and subtle viniagrette dressing. I was so reluctant to miss any bit that I dropped a few small tears of baguette onto the plate to collect it. This was one of the best salads I've ever had! The lamb arrived beautifully plated. The flavor of the browned and glazed exterior was outstanding. The meat was so tender that providing a knife with the fork seemed an affront to the chef. There was little of any taste to identify the meat as lamb: a sadness to some, a relief to others. A dollop of soft bell pepper slices sat next to the fluffy ring of saffron mashed potatoes surrounding the meat. Did I want anything else? Wine? No, just water, "sin gas" with ice and a squeeze of lemon. It seemed a good fit. I enjoyed my "bits of baguette" lamb finale. Would I recommend Temporal? Without hesitation. I plan to find an opportunity in my few remaining days in the city for another visit. read more

Great find near our airbnb in La Condesa. The ambiance is great, perfect for date night. The staff here also speaks English so it makes it easier to order. They start your meal off with complimentary bread and two different spreads - both are great, try a combo! The bread was amazingggg, I couldn't help myself and ate most of it haha. My husband and I ordered these to share: Tostadas Bajaquenas MX$140 This was good but I didn't really taste the grasshopper/worm salt crust on either piece (comes with 2). The tuna was nicely seared and raw/tender in the middle. Marinated Octopus Tacos MX$160 These came in 3s and I wish we had 3 more! These are soooo amazing, octopus was nicely cooked and tender. The green chili relish on there was the true star, SO BOMB. Roasted Cauliflower MX$130 This was just OK. Wish this was roasted a bit more so the cauliflower was a bit more tender. The anchovies cream could have also used a bit more flavor since the cauliflower itself is a pretty bland vegetable. Loved the breadcrumbs on top though! Braised Pork Rib "Enchiladas" MX$260 I thought this dish was pretty good! The breadcrumbs are again a nice addition as it is a nice textural difference to the rest of the dish. It was also topped with chunks of avocado and cheese. The sauce was really good so make sure to sop some up when you grab a bite of enchilada! Vanilla Creme Brûlée with Roasted Figs MX$140 This was reaaaalllyyy good, the sweet pepper ice cream was a nice cut to the sweetness of the dish and I loved the fresh figs baked inside on the bottom. The ambiance is nice and dim which was why I chose this place having light sensitivity. I want to assume this establishment lacks attention to detail. I get that hair in a dish is inevitable, so i just brushed it off. However, shavings of who knows what in my glass...and no it wasn't tap water... unacceptable.
