The restaurant itself was beautiful and the presentation of the food was gorgeous. The prices were high which can be expected at a place like this. What I didn't like was when my husband was served the wrong beer and the server rather than taking it away and giving him the right one left it on the table and then later tried to charge us for it, It's okay that he made a mistake but it was his mistake as my husband clearly ordered the amber ale and was given a porter. It took ten minutes to take the charge off the bill. It was a bad way to end the evening,

Started off with a maracuya mezcal (Convite coyote) which was very delicious and smooth. Not too smoky. To eat, I ordered the filete nacionale with chipotle amor which was delicious! Medium rare. I tried the pulpos en su tinta and the chicken mole and both were so so tasty. Service was frantic but very good. This spot was very busy for Christmas Day.

If you are downtown in the historic center this is the restaurant to go to. It is beautiful and surrounded by wonderful shops. We started with the classic guacamole which was really good. Then I had the Pescado Tikin which was a treat because I have never had snook before. It was delicious.

I was told by multiple people that this is a great restaurant that we must visit. We were happy to try it while walking back from the Zocala back to the hotel and were thrilled that they were able to seat us despite not having a reservation. It's a spectacular, unique ambience; check out the pictures. Unfortunately, it was not a great visit. We got to try several firsts. Fish eggs and my first Chile De Nogada. Both were OK. The part that soured the visit was the service. Except for the person who checked us in, everyone seemed sour. Pass.

If I had one word to describe this place it would be beautiful! From the food to the environment, eating here felt like entering an an artist's experience. The trees were gorgeous and eat plate was put together with precision and perfection. The service was very fast and helpful. Bonus points for the complimentary tomato salad we received which was refreshing and delicious. As for the rest of the meal, I can't say it was the most delicious thing we ate in CDMX. Truthfully, the tamale lacked flavor and had a strange texture. The enchiladas also didn't have much chicken filling and had way too much sauce. What helps, though, is that the sauce was absolutely incredible tasting and you can tell the restaurant only uses the best ingredients. Overall, I'd definitely come back to try their other dishes and for the exciting dining experience, but it probably wasn't my favorite place I've tried in CDMX.

Beautiful ambiance and delicious food. Our attentive server made our visit to Azul an amazing experience. The tortilla soup served in a gorgeous Talavera dish was out of this world. Tasty drinks and unmatched panuchos and a well seasoned ribeye for dinner will be hard to replicate! We will be back on our next visit to Mexico City!

Beautiful courtyard with delicious food in el centro histórico! Azul histórico is tucked away in a beautiful tree-filled courtyard off a busy street in mexico city's historic center. We had been recommended this place by some friends, and it definitely lived up to the hype! The service was great, and food was delicious. To start, we got the escamoles (ant eggs!) on a recommendation from our server, and learned that ant eggs are considered "mexican caviar". They came with guacamole and tortillas to make little tacos, and it was delicious!! the escamoles were buttery and soft, like nothing i'd ever tasted. For my entree I got the mole negro enchiladas, which were also great! Will definitely come back here when i'm next in CDMX.

I had such high hopes for this place and didn't want the overall low reviews to deter me from trying it out because most of the photos on review sites have been very beautiful! But, I was disappointed. First off, most reviewers and Yelpers were accurate when they said service is terrible. It might depends on the day too maybe but our waiter/waiters were alright. My bf speaks Spanish and that did help a lot but our food took forever and I think our waiter forgot to put in my entre. Not to say, he was stressed looking the whole time and was mumbling to himself the whole time! I thought that was funny I just hope he was not too stressed out. It wasn't even that many people dining yet, it was right when they just opened. We got one of the cocktails, and it was horrible. Super sweet and had an artificial taste. It was one of the cocktails that the waiter recommended. Food wise, the seafood soup was okay, I think the red snapper was the best best dish out of all. My bf got super bad food poisoning from here either from the fish ceviche or the cocktail or his red snapper.. But his red snapper was cooked so the only raw thing was the fish ceviche.. I only had a few bites of it so I was fine but. If I were in el Centro again I would never come here. I would just stop by to shop around and take photos because it is located inside a beautiful hacienda but I would not come back again for either food or drinks!

We loved everything about this place! Besides being a beautiful restaurant, the food, drinks, and dessert were delicious. Unfortunately, I did not get a picture of my husbands steak, but it tasted as great as it looked. I wish I could remember our waiters name. He was very friendly and attentive. Our reservation was at 7pm but since we were in the neighborhood we tried our luck and they were able to accommodate us at 5:45. After dinner we went upstairs for a drink and were treated very well by a friendly waiter. We've had our share of unfriendly waiters in Mexico City believe me! We left Azul feeling content, happy, and full! Thank you.

If the waiter doesn't act peeved and keep their humor while I try to communicate with a translate App/English/ pointing, the place earned a star, IMO. Our 2 waitstaff did exactly that. We 2 were here for lunch, about 1:30PM with reservations. It wasn't crowded at all. I had a bowl of soup that had 5 seafoods(shrimp, clams, calamari, scallops and I forget the last one). The base would be delicious without the seafood, just plain. The seafood complemented the base though. We shouldn't have added the classic Guacamole. It was enough Guacamole for 4 but we didn't want to be wasteful :-), so we ate it all. The waitstaff allowed us to eat at a leisurely pace and that was good. If this place is less than it used to be, according to some reviewers, I suppose my expectations are too low, I dunno. It's one of the best so called tourist traps I ever ate at, IMHO. I recommend you try it.

This location is beautiful--in the courtyard of a historical building amidst bustling night life. Dining under a pruned treescape and candle-lit lanterns was an experience like no other. Service was friendly and incredibly responsive (including pulling up the recipe list to make sure of allergies). The food was great. For starters, the guacamole clasico and sopa de tortillas were mind blowing. Kid you not, best tortilla soup and Guac I've ever had. This set up nearly doomed the main dishes because I think it was an incredibly hard show to follow; however, the main dishes were still great. We had the classic duck dish, enchiladas, and shrimp. All 3 were great, the mole was slightly sweet with depth. I'd come here again for the appetizers alone.

Nice mezcal...

This place used to be authentic but it has become a tourist trap. Food is barely OK but way overpriced. Service is slow and totally disorganized (I ordered a bottle of water to 3 different waiters until the 4th one finally brought it to me). The decoration and music are nice though.

This restaurant was beautiful and the food was surprisingly delicious. My only complaint would be that the server complained about the tip so we left more . Which is a bit wild to me since we tipped well. But overall it's a good restaurant.

I was captivated by the warm, eclectic ambiance--shelves stacked with old books, cozy little crannies, and fascinating antique items tucked into every corner. It felt like stepping into a hidden gem where every detail added to the charm. I ordered the As de Corazones, a gin-based cocktail with raspberry, egg white foam, and a spritz finish. It was hands-down the best cocktail I had in CDMX--beautifully balanced, slightly tart, and perfectly smooth. I also tried the Josita, which was incredibly refreshing (and deceptively strong!), making it the perfect drink to sip on while soaking in the atmosphere. Service was friendly and attentive, with bartenders who clearly know their craft. Whether you're a cocktail lover or just looking for a great spot to unwind, Pata Negra is a must-visit. (I even went back as a goodbye to CDMX on my last night)

They had a few TVs with some sports on which is why we chose this place. Service was friendly, and quick to take your initial order but after that it was kinda hard to order a second or third drink you really had to flag them down. We came back on a second visit and they were out of some of the beers we ordered the previous visit. On the plus side the beers were ice cold. Much colder than out of the refrigerator which made it so easy to drink.

I'm really glad I did, though, because they absolutely *need* to be on yelp so more people like me can find it, because it was a. absolutely fantastic, some of the best cocktails I've had, and for a great price, and b. literally empty all night the night I was there (which was, to be fair, a Monday, but still - we were literally the only people there other than the two bartenders, both for like an hour earlier in the day, and then when I came back around 10:30 that night for another drink because I was leaving the next morning and I really wanted to try one more drink because they were that good). English is spoken haltingly at best, though (at least when I was there), which could partially explain the lack of fame among tourists (my wife speaks a bit of Spanish, but the Google Translate app was also helpful in both directions.) It's a cozy sort of place, and they were playing great music. too - neat blend of like 80s music and remixes of 80s music. Awesome decor, too. Most cocktails on the pre-defined menu are $130 (so under $8 US), and I did start with a couple of those, to confirm they knew what they were doing, which they totally did. First the Free Verte - basically a traditional absinthe ceremony in a glass, with ice with a flower frozen into it. Tastes fantastic if you like absinthe (you can taste the flame!), and it's a show to make. Then the El Santo, with a liquor base of "pox", which I'd never heard of, so he gave me a little to try - it tastes sort of like a cross between mezcal and white rum. The drink was a typical (dangerous!) tiki type drink, super creamy and delicious, plus I love the glasses they use for it. I also tried one of their 50-peso "shots" cause I was curious, with rum, coconut cream, mango/pineapple juice, melon liquor and india nut. Sort of like a painkiller, but flavor up to 11 with the nutty kick. (I obviously didn't actually shoot it - that would be a waste of deliciousness.) Having confirmed the overall quality of the place, I then tried their custom cocktail ability ($140!). This is where Google Translate really helped, obviously. Started by asking for a custom mezcal drink that really brings out the mezcal and wasn't too fruity. Not exactly what I meant, but an amazing drink nonetheless, and I could still taste the mezcal pretty well. Fresh berry (strawberry, cranberry, raspberry) juice, jamaica, mezcal, and a rosemary lit on fire. It was fan-freaking-tastic. That as all the drinking I was planning on doing that day, but that creation was so good, I had to try a second experiment - I told them mezcal again, and this time, do what you like, but make it spicy. They gave me a drink with mezcal, simple syrup, lemon and a house-made spice/cinnamon liqueur. It was really good, but I said please make it a little spicier, so they pulled out an unlabeled jar with jalapeno slices infusing in it - heck yes. That and a couple dashes of scrappy firewater bitter, all poured over a mango-infused ice ball with an actual slice of fresh mango frozen in the middle. This is a fantastic place, did I say that yet? So anyway, I cut myself off at that point, but on the way out, I asked what all the little cubbies by the bar were, and they said they all contained little packets of different herbs and stuff, including saffron(?). So later that night, I said to my wife, I *have* to go back and see what they can make with that saffron, so I did. Anyway, it was actually safflower, not saffron, but it was still a fun drink. Received a drink with lemon, vermouth flash-infused with safflower (turned a gorgeous bright yellow) and gin of my choice from their selection (I said Hendrick's - most of their gin was traditional dry gin, and I prefer bolder gins), plus lavender bitters, still just 140 pesos. It was pretty delicious - almost tasted a bit like really good bubblegum(?). There were two guys bartending when I was there earlier, but just one was there when I was back at 10:30 (thankfully for me, the one who spoke a bit of English). I didn't think to get the first guy's name, but they were both awesome bartenders. I did ask when I came back - the second guy's name was David. They were both awesome, though. Only weird thing is, for some reason, even though they said they were open until 1 AM, at 11 they closed the POS system and said it was going to be cash only? Not sure why. Anyway, this place needs some serious attention from craft cocktail lovers, because it is awesome. (Or maybe it doesn't, so if I'm ever back in CDMX, it'll still be crazy cheap for the quality!)

It came topped with a chocolate lego filled with banana ganache, which was insanely decadent and tasty. Our reservation was limited to 90 minutes, which was enough time for me. Aside from the entrance being anticlimactic compared to the bars I have been to, I think the drinks were quite delicious. I got the Earl Grey and the Once Upon in Oaxaca. The first one was honestly my favorite. It was such a refreshing drink that was a really fun take on Earl Grey tea. I really liked the lemongrass straw as well. Drinking out of the straw vs drinking the drink directly made a huge difference in flavor, which I thought was particularly unique. The Once Upon in Oaxaca was slightly smoky and definitely a more liquor forward drink. Perfect for a second cocktail. I would have liked it to be just a tad more smoky with a thicker mouthfeel. Overall, however, it was a pleasant experience, but there are definitely some other bars I'd recommend over this one...

A little torn on the review since the service was quite good here, food was probably a 3.5, though a little issue left a blemish on my impression. The entrance is thru the elevator on the first floor inside the bookstore Librería Porrúa, you go up to the 3rd floor and arrive to a foyer area where to the right is the cafe portion of the restaurant and to the left is the sit-down section. Walking into the space the kitchen and bathrooms are to the left, a bar straight back against the far wall with maybe half a dozen tables in between. To the right about a 20 tables are placed on a split-level section under a covered rooftop open so all have views out over Templo Mayor. Retractable outdoor blinds line the edges of the rooftop to protect from inclement weather. Arriving at around 2pm, the restaurant was about 50% full though almost all the tables closer to the view overlooking Templo Mayor were occupied. The staff were courteous and professional, quickly providing menus and coming back to check on us. We ordered: - Conga (pineapple, orange and coconut with granedine) $55*: refreshing citrusy juice in combination mentioned, not too sweet which I was glad for. - Mexican craft beer Tempus doble malta $90: cool, dark and malty, though not too heavy for a warm afternoon. - Tortilla soup with tomato, panela cheese, tortilla julienne chips, avocado, pasilla chili, and epazote leaf $155: tasty! Flavorful and brought a kick with the chili spice, pretty mild though. Nice crunch from the fried tortilla strips. - Xochitl broth (chicken broth with "pico de gallo", rice, shredded chicken and chicharron (fried pork skin) $140: light broth with full chicken flavor, crunch from the chicharron. Would recommend. - Steak tips (180 grs) tacos with nopales (cactus pads) (3 pieces) $195: decent, good with the salsa. - Cochinita pibil burritos (4 pieces) $185: didn't expect these to be deep fried, flavor was ok though not sure I'd recommend these, - Rice with mole sauce $85: really tasty, we didn't leave a grain of rice! So the unfortunate that I had a couple issues bc service was overall good: - found a hair on the lime slices that came served with the tacos, I'm not a big stickler bc I get it, sometimes a piece of hair just falls down, not the most unsanitary thing that could happen. - what bothered me more was the placement of the bread rolls, the staff took each roll from a basket with tongs and placed it on what looked like woven straw coasters for drinks, they looked like they were just sitting out on the table for decoration, and not sure how those would be cleaned... If the above two issues hadn't occurred I'd be rounding up to 4 stars, though because of them this spot is a 3 for me. *all prices in pesos.
