Highly recommend this experience and restaurant. We stumbled on the restaurant as we explored the neighborhood and so pleased we did. Service was exceptional. Attention to detail and pleasant gentleman. We were able to receive a tour of the kitchen with a small tasting, which was lovely. We loved the asian inspired take of Mexican dishes we know so well. The quality of the food was great. Additionally, the drinks were well made. We left raving about it and shared the recommendation to all we met while on our trip.

This place was NOT A DISAPPOINTMENT to its reputation. It was a real trendy spot. We got to see behind the scene in the kitchen and got what I assume an amuse bouche. I went with the tasting menu and got to experience several dishes that were all tasty and memorable.

Inedible beef ribs that cost $50.

Food was ok. We enjoyed the duck dumplings and the lime soup. My husband wanted to try the ribs but I guess ordered the wrong ones. They were giant, inedible, and incredibly overpriced. My cocktail was not good either. The service was pretty good. Ambiance just ok. There are so many fantastic restaurants in CDMX, this one has some work to do if they want to be one of them.

Did the tasting menu and loved all of it! I usually don't get full, but for got pretty quickly. Will come back again and again.

Birria dumplings

Food and service were okay. We wanted to get the birria dumplings but it was apart of the tasting menu. But we got invited into the kitchen area for sample tasting. All of the food items we received were lukewarm temperature and not hot. Chicken udon was very bland with not much flavor. Wish there was more spiciness

10/10!! This place is a must try. Service was amazing. Delicious food and drinks! Only took a picture of our desserts.

Menú de degustación es una delicia! Todos los platillos estuvieron deliciosos. Súper buen servicio!

So happy to have visited this restaurant. I felt so welcomed and was able to take a tour of the kitchen. Can't wait to go back and try more dishes.

AMAZING. We showed up and not only had delicious food, but was invited up to the kitchen to get a taste of freshly prepared dumplings. The staff was INCREDIBLY friendly and absolutely gave us one of the highlights of our entire Mexico City trip. The food was amazing as well as presented incredibly well (see the pictures), and not too expensive at all. In short, I seriously cannot recommend making time for this with your travel group, or if you're a local and somehow have never been then what are you waiting for!? :)

TRY THIS PLACE! We came to Mexico City without any restaurant reservations but really wanted to have a nice dinner one night and found most places with a tasting menu had no reservations within the month... except this gem. This place blew us out of the water. Everything we tried was delicious and the presentation was impeccable. My travel companion usually doesn't like seafood but even enjoyed the jumbo shrimp. We came hungry and still couldn't even finish everything. I'm telling all my friends to try this place if they ever come to Mexico City. An absolute can't miss.

My favorite course. A curry noodle dish that was divine!

This is a very challenging review to write. We came as a party of three on a Friday evening. All three of us elected to get the 10 course tasting menu with pairings. The first course was excellent! We were taken to the kitchen where the staff greeted us in unison. A very sweet cook in the kitchen assembled our first dish before our eyes. It was a delicious dumpling served in a spicy sauce. She had the best smile and seemed very kind. It was a perfect way to start. I wonder why more restaurants don't use this for a tasting menu? We returned to our table and two more courses arrived. Still no drinks to pair with them. Finally Mexican sake was delivered. Another course came and then some rosé wine. And then another course. Some of the courses good, some not so good. But we did inquire why we were not receiving pairings. Apparently the restaurant's policy is that you get a spirit with roughly every other dish. The pours were very small and never lasted for more than one dish. One of the five drinks was a small cup of beer? Clearly this isn't a great deal. We thoroughly enjoyed some courses, others not so much. The pace of the meal was the biggest problem. Our waiter was trying very hard. He Just had way too many tables to attend to. I appreciated his efforts, but the pairings were not coming out with the food, and it was very difficult to get a refill of water or a fresh napkin. Plus we just got tired of waiting for very long periods (sometimes twenty minutes) with no beverage and no food. In the end, this wasn't a terrible meal, but I don't think the restaurant is prepared to handle a tasting menu. At $93 USD per person after tip, I couldn't recommended the tasting menu. But it's a charming restaurant with pleasant staff. Perhaps next time I'd give the à la carte menu a try.

Nudo Negro is an excellent value based on straight courses. 10 courses for $35 can't be beat but maybe it's me but Nudo Negro just made me want a bowl of noodles. Pros: The service was attentive. There were many courses. The amuse bouche was delicious. The cocktails were made artfully, tableside. The restaurant was quiet and peaceful with simple decorations. Cons: We had to ask several times to even get the prix fixe menu. The courses were three bites and nothing to me tasted better than the original amuse bouche. The micheladas did not resemble the bloody Mary's with beer that I think of in the US. They constantly reassured me the dishes were not spicy - but I think they could have used a few chili peppers. I'm glad I went but I have no urge to return. It was definitely more expensive than most other places I went to in Mexico City. Asian fusion is challenging as for me, it makes me just want straight Asian. If you're like me in that sense, then you're probably better off eating Mexican food while visiting Mexico and heading to the SGV in Los Angles to feast in a later trip.

I say seated with parenthesis because most people end up standing here but we got lucky that a couple was leaving as we were right next to them after being asked our drink orders. It's kind of a weird system that they have and I think the staff didn't realize we didn't have our drink orders taken yet and asked the people behind us for theirs which was slightly annoying. It was a bit chaotic so I can see why it happened, but I do think they need a slightly better system. Anyways, the drinks were excellent and I love that they gave us a little small snack that included crickets (which I hadn't tried before yet). The vibes in here are really nice too. I love the dim lighting and the almost rock/clay atmosphere. The bathroom area is smaller than I was expecting but it was ok. I'd definitely return!

There are no seats, this is a standing bar except a few uncomfortable bar stools. Drinks were good, but I expected more. I got the colada and it was good, not too sweet. Almost clarified colada. Everything was very spirit forward which few of our friends really liked. This felt like a one time visit for me in CDMX

Handshake Speakeasy is worth the hype! I managed to snag a Friday night reservation in the basement…read moreroom. The interior was dimly lit and moody, and the staff would yell a welcome every time patrons entered the space. They also did the same once people started leaving. For my first drink, I chose the Mexi-Thai. Handshake is known for their clarified cocktails and I was shocked by how complex the flavors were in this clear beverage. It was almost savory with makrut lime coconut, tomato, and basil oil. For my second drink, I chose the Banana Split. This one was much sweeter with rum, banana, and a blend of sherries. It came topped with a chocolate lego filled with banana ganache, which was insanely decadent and tasty. Our reservation was limited to 90 minutes, which was enough time for me. Overall, loved this spot!

Although our group did not book ahead, we got there right as they opened and only had to wait about 30 min to get seated - but it was also a Monday so maybe that had something to do with it... Aside from the entrance being anticlimactic compared to the bars I have been to, I think the drinks were quite delicious. I got the Earl Grey and the Once Upon in Oaxaca. The first one was honestly my favorite. It was such a refreshing drink that was a really fun take on Earl Grey tea. I really liked the lemongrass straw as well. Drinking out of the straw vs drinking the drink directly made a huge difference in flavor, which I thought was particularly unique. The Once Upon in Oaxaca was slightly smoky and definitely a more liquor forward drink. Perfect for a second cocktail. I would have liked it to be just a tad more smoky with a thicker mouthfeel. Overall, however, it was a pleasant experience, but there are definitely some other bars I'd recommend over this one...

Honestly the openness is welcome on this cool autumn day although the sounds of cars and people was sometimes a touch distracting. Music was fun but not particularly heavy, maybe more of a casual date than something velvety. Service was quite attentive and prompt although I did arrive quite early and there weren't very many people there. Not all the waitstaff are very fluent in English but they are happy to bring someone who is if you have questions. They are the sister bar/restaurant to La Clandestina which is literally right next door which also focusses on Mezcal. Honestly, I don't really know what the difference is between the two aside from the people who are literally mixing the drinks and serving you as the house mezcals are also under the La Clandestina name. Ordered their Habanero house cocktail which was a mix of their Espadin Joven Mezcal, orange liqueur, and a raspberry/bluebery/habanero syrup garnished with a dehydrated orange slice and rimmed with salt, chili, and maybe some more habanero. Note, the menu doesn't actually mention the syrup, I dragged that out of them since I was wondering why the cocktail was so pink and also tasted like it definitely had more than mezcal and orange liqueur in it. The end cocktail is a light and fruity affair but not particularly sweet or acidic and actually balanced out with the body and smoke of the mezcal. I normally despise salt rims, finding it overpowering on first sip and nonexistent on the next but theirs toned down the salt levels enough that each sip around the rim was actually quite pleasant. The habanero in the syrup maybe offers a smidge of vegetal notes and a little bit of spice if you're particularly sensitive to it but the rim itself was actually a delight, giving a light tingle to the lips with each sip. I wouldn't say the cocktail was particularly spicy but more tingly which I found myself actually preferring over other chili included cocktails I've had in the past. They do offer a variety of bottles of tequila and mezcal to sell and take home with you, notably the ones under the Clandestina name that are made just for the bar. Not all of these tequilas and mezcals are available to try directly but the bartenders will offer you a shot of the closest one that is available on the menu (mind you, trying a shot is just paying for an ounce/35 ml of the stuff but that's all on the menu). I decided to give that a shot before biting the bullet on a whole bottle of mezcal. The shot of mezcal comes in a glass wider than a traditional shot glass so you can actually sip the thing comfortably and they also give you a few orange slices with tajin to chase/nibble on. Apparently they offer a flight of mezcal which I'd honestly recommend, especially if you're here with some friends. Definitely recommend coming by for well executed cocktails but particularly for the chance to try Mezcal of varying regional origin, age, and abv.
