    Al pastor

Our group of 7 were exploring Polanco during the Festival of Flowers and were able to get a last minute reservation at Porfirio's for dinner, or just walked in. The restaurant was extremely lively and it seemed like it would be a great place for a birthday dinner and groups. All of the kids ordered from the kids menu and my daughter really enjoyed the fettucine with butter and bacon. She didn't love the lemonade, which was probably made with limes and a bit tart for her liking. The adults shared a variety of things because we had a large lunch. A highlight was the mini trompo of al pastor, which made delicious tacos. We also shared the shrimp tacos with a fresh shrimp and a generous smear of black beans. The elote came in a little corn boat and was very rich with mayonnaise and cheese. The chicken milanesa was surprisingly heavy, with a cream corn sauce, rajas and mushrooms. The was a roving mariachi band and they were very good, adding to the lively environment and ambiance. We skipped dessert, but were still given oblejas, the sweet wafer dessert. The service was impeccable and everything was attended to quickly.

Another five star restaurant around Polanco district. Staff made a significant impression on us with all the professionalism and dedication. They have an iPad with English menu that has pictures and some Video clips of how the food is presented. Very thoughtful. Tried grilled octopus. Well presented, tasty. All good. Had salmon ceviche. Lots of mango but no complaints there. Friend had one of the signature drinks with tequila. He was happy. This is one of those upscale Mexican restaurants that is hard to find north of the border.

You know.....you find a place for lunch where the interior looks great with awesome music and so you go in expecting awesome service and food. Unfortunately, the service was pretty bad. Ordered starters and never received them. Ordered a gin and tonic and he measured it out in front of me in a shot glass and didn't fill it to the top because there was not enough gin in the bottle. Didn't bother getting another bottle. Ordered wine and brought out the wrong bottle. Eventually it was corrected. The next issue was clearing plates as people finished, instead of clearing the table together as a whole. Next was table side food was not done table side. Dessert served frozen. Told one of the waiters and his response was I will get you a steak knife. Anyway, food wasn't too bad, but the service over shadowed the entire experience.

Hands down the best service, experience and food on my trip to CDMX. Love the vibes, the ambience and everything about this spot. I will definitely be coming back. Our waiter Alberto was so helpful and attentive. Thank you once again the whole staff!

one of the coolest restaurants i've been to in cdmx!! i came on a friday night and it was such a fun vibe. this is not the place to go to if you want a relaxing quiet dinner. the music is LOUD but so fun, with screens showing their corresponding music videos. the mariachi come's on at 9:30, so be mindful when making reservations (you're definitely going to need a reservation btw- it's v busy). when the mariachi leaves the dj cranks up the music even louder and sparklers get handed out to everyone- so so fun! now for food, i can drool just thinking about it. the raw tuna tostadas are a MUST. the were so so delicious and melt in your mouth. cocktails are amazing and are prepared right in front of you. the aguachile was quite possibly one of the best things i've ever eaten oh my goodness. so so delicious. our steak was seared right in front us! i will absolutely be coming back one day. my only complaint was we were seated on the terrace so we weren't quite as in the middle of the action as i would have liked- so next time i will be sure to sit right in the middle!

Service very slow, had to wave down our waiter to order. Once we did the food came in after within a normal duration. The waiters and chefs definitely pay attention to detail it a good way. Chili Rellenos- this came with a side of rice and beans. This was cheesy and tasted good Shrimp tacos - this was good. The purple onions on top made the tacos really good. Salmon mango ceviche - this was refreshing. I probably wouldn't get it again but complimented well with the tostada Seared New York beef - this was a cool experience they make the steak Infront of you. They top it with lots of onions and seasoning. Watermelon mint mojito- very good and refreshing Churros- this was more crunchy but did come with 5 and 4 different sauces.

Amazing place with delicious steaks. We ordered the arrachera mesquite and the bone marrow with a rib eye steak, food paired with the attentiveness of our Definitely coming back when we are in CDMX.

what a nice way to kick off our trip. We ordered drinks and guess what they bring the bar to you!! How cool is that. The staff was super friendly and nice so excellent service. I recommend The bone marrow with escamoles to give it that extra flavor. The escamole was good has an earthy nutty taste. Every dish was like a show had a nice presentation. The pulpo was excellent it was super tender and adding the lemon for that zest was perfection. However the Mayan tacos for was ok it was a bit dry. Corn chowder was creamy and room temperature. Not sure if it was meant to be that way. Overall good experience it was our first dinner as soon as we landed.

Ambiance was great food was definitely delicious we did order a dessert forgot to take the picture. The cuts on the meats were delicious and food was tender. Service was good and very attentive definitely a spot you want to come and check out.

Got a quesadilla, which had nice flavor from meat, chile morita, and cheese, but it was tiny. Drinks were liquor forward, but balanced. We were impressed to get clear flavors from each of the ingredients of the cocktail. Was it a vibe that I'd want to enjoy again? Probably not - I personally prefer restaurants with really strong entrees and cocktails to support the food than the other way around. Nevertheless, I'm glad that I was able to visit this world renowned bar close to where I was staying. Drinks were creative, flavors were clear and assertive, but balanced. Come early as there is usually a line before entering the bar. Atmosphere: to enter into the bar, you have to go downstairs through a refrigerator. In contrast to the bright colors of the taqueria upstairs, Jules was adorned with leathered walls, studded ceilings, and skeletons as table centerpieces. While trendy, it did come off as a little cheesy. Nonetheless, decor did reflect the vibe it was going for. There was limited seating, so if you have a large party would recommend going there early if you have a big party. Later in the night, there is a DJ who plays techno/dance music tends to draw in large crowds of people. Brings in a mixed crowd. Service: Service at the beginning of the night was good, although servers were less attentive as the night got later and more people were entering the bar. Cocktails: The bar offers a good variety of drinks and cocktails--which I can see why people would want to go back to Jules again. My group of friends and I tried about 8 different cocktails and the only one I enjoyed was the Low Key. The Low Key is comparable to a whiskey soul with mezcal garnished with tamarind candy. I did not care much for the other drinks, as some of them were overly sugary.

The interior was dimly lit and moody, and the staff would yell a welcome every time patrons entered the space. They also did the same once people started leaving. For my first drink, I chose the Mexi-Thai. Handshake is known for their clarified cocktails and I was shocked by how complex the flavors were in this clear beverage. It was almost savory with makrut lime coconut, tomato, and basil oil. For my second drink, I chose the Banana Split. This one was much sweeter with rum, banana, and a blend of sherries. It came topped with a chocolate lego filled with banana ganache, which was insanely decadent and tasty. Our reservation was limited to 90 minutes, which was enough time for me. Aside from the entrance being anticlimactic compared to the bars I have been to, I think the drinks were quite delicious. I got the Earl Grey and the Once Upon in Oaxaca. The first one was honestly my favorite. It was such a refreshing drink that was a really fun take on Earl Grey tea. I really liked the lemongrass straw as well. Drinking out of the straw vs drinking the drink directly made a huge difference in flavor, which I thought was particularly unique. The Once Upon in Oaxaca was slightly smoky and definitely a more liquor forward drink. Perfect for a second cocktail. I would have liked it to be just a tad more smoky with a thicker mouthfeel. Overall, however, it was a pleasant experience, but there are definitely some other bars I'd recommend over this one...

Honestly the openness is welcome on this cool autumn day although the sounds of cars and people was sometimes a touch distracting. Music was fun but not particularly heavy, maybe more of a casual date than something velvety. Service was quite attentive and prompt although I did arrive quite early and there weren't very many people there. Not all the waitstaff are very fluent in English but they are happy to bring someone who is if you have questions. They are the sister bar/restaurant to La Clandestina which is literally right next door which also focusses on Mezcal. Honestly, I don't really know what the difference is between the two aside from the people who are literally mixing the drinks and serving you as the house mezcals are also under the La Clandestina name. Ordered their Habanero house cocktail which was a mix of their Espadin Joven Mezcal, orange liqueur, and a raspberry/bluebery/habanero syrup garnished with a dehydrated orange slice and rimmed with salt, chili, and maybe some more habanero. Note, the menu doesn't actually mention the syrup, I dragged that out of them since I was wondering why the cocktail was so pink and also tasted like it definitely had more than mezcal and orange liqueur in it. The end cocktail is a light and fruity affair but not particularly sweet or acidic and actually balanced out with the body and smoke of the mezcal. I normally despise salt rims, finding it overpowering on first sip and nonexistent on the next but theirs toned down the salt levels enough that each sip around the rim was actually quite pleasant. The habanero in the syrup maybe offers a smidge of vegetal notes and a little bit of spice if you're particularly sensitive to it but the rim itself was actually a delight, giving a light tingle to the lips with each sip. I wouldn't say the cocktail was particularly spicy but more tingly which I found myself actually preferring over other chili included cocktails I've had in the past. They do offer a variety of bottles of tequila and mezcal to sell and take home with you, notably the ones under the Clandestina name that are made just for the bar. Not all of these tequilas and mezcals are available to try directly but the bartenders will offer you a shot of the closest one that is available on the menu (mind you, trying a shot is just paying for an ounce/35 ml of the stuff but that's all on the menu). I decided to give that a shot before biting the bullet on a whole bottle of mezcal. The shot of mezcal comes in a glass wider than a traditional shot glass so you can actually sip the thing comfortably and they also give you a few orange slices with tajin to chase/nibble on. Apparently they offer a flight of mezcal which I'd honestly recommend, especially if you're here with some friends. Definitely recommend coming by for well executed cocktails but particularly for the chance to try Mezcal of varying regional origin, age, and abv.
