This was one of the most uncomfortable and concerning experiences I've ever had. The bar was still open when my husband asked to use the restroom. The owner was in the bathroom area at the time and told him no. My husband respectfully asked why, since the place was still open and he genuinely needed to go. Instead of responding professionally, the owner became visibly aggressive and told him not to keep asking or he would send him back "in pieces." What makes this even more concerning is that this area is filled with tourists. We visited on a weekday and were aggressively extorted for money by security and two shady individuals--likely cartel affiliates--both in the bathroom and by the bar. The music was decent and the drinks were average, but nothing was worth the stress or danger. If you're a tourist, stay far far away. read more

Huge fan. Set up like an apartment with an entire bar set up in multiple rooms and areas. Primarily house music and the service from the bartenders and bouncers was great. Keep in mind that cover is 250 pesos per person. Gin and tonic and espresso martinis are the move. read more

Lol wow. This place was an atrociously bad experience on so many levels. Where to start? 1. The security: Staff was extremely invasive when frisking guests. The women (and men tbh) in our party were groped in ways that were unnecessary. They took so many items away from guests, including prescription medication, umbrellas, and other harmless, legal items. They said they'd give them back but tossed the items carelessly into random lockers with 0 valet system, offering no confidence that we could retrieve important property. When entering, they insisted that we move out of the way of the crowd several times (we left plenty of walking space). But on the way out, the staff created so much of a chaotic hallway that I was bound to bump into someone on the way out--a small employee with glasses had the gall to stop me 3 feet from the exit, physically hold me back, and tell me to say "excuse me." Wow. That was the man feeling all of us up and being extremely invasive about it. Maybe if he spent more time honing his craft instead of power tripping, he wouldn't feel the need to compensate. 2. The price: We asked to bring a large party in and they said they could accommodate. We clearly and explicitly said (both in Spanish and English) we wanted to enter with cover charge only--without telling us, they took our card and signed us up for an expensive table that we said we did not want. Forced upsell felt slimy af--what a band of crooks. The alcohol seemed rigged. Nobody felt anything in our vodka. We were all very skeptical and believe that our bottles were watered down. 3. The club: The music was incredibly boring. We stayed in the same BPM for 2 hours straight and it was monotonously dull, as if they wanted people to leave to churn quickly. Crowds were lackluster and missing energy. Tables were tiny and not worth the money. Our server for our table was cool though. He was attentive. Shout out to that guy! All-in-all a net-awful experience, though we tried to make the best of it. Our entire group was clearly upset for multiple isolated incidents. "Gross incompetence" is a great way to describe the experience, particularly with staff, using both implications of the word "gross" in this situation. It's overhyped, overpriced, and not worth the molestation. Stay safe, and enjoy another part of CDMX. read more

After an evening stroll around the city, my friends and I ended up at Departamento. It has a night club feel where you show ID to the bouncer at the entrance and get escorted up flights of stairs to the rooftop. We were sequestered at a side table away from the crowd and bars for some reason (close to the restrooms though) and ordered drinks from the menu. Most of us got margaritas, which were tasty and pretty strong! At least for Mexico. There were a few other cocktails on the menu I'd love to try next time. The vibe wasn't quite what we were feeling (and the music was too loud) so we didn't stay long. This could be fun if it was a full-on dance party, but it was pretty empty when we were there. read more

Wanted to like this place but 2 things were unbelievable: 1) we bought tables here in advance and they still made everyone pay a cash cover charge to get in. Even worse- they wouldn't just let us charge it to our tables, so we had to send people on a mad scramble to scrounge up pesos. The cover was 200 pesos per person which is like- $15? when we were dropping thousands on tables? make it make sense. I have never experienced that anywhere else in the WORLD. Just insanely tacky and amateurish. I'm still fuming about it. When you buy tables the whole point is to have a seamless experience. 2. The place- it's cool-ish but super crowded. There are no bathrooms- just three bathroom stalls that are literally on the rooftop. so there's a huge bathroom line snaking through an area where people are trying to buy drinks and dancing. blech. Not the kind of place I would go with a group. Also wouldn't go if you're an expat with high expectations. if you're a 20 something local kid, it's probably decently fun. read more

The manager straight up lies to sell more drinks. We walked in late afternoon Saturday. The manager said there will be a table ready for us after one group, so we ordered a drink and waited at the bar - otherwise we would have left. There were about 5 tables empty but he said they were reserved - which made sense. About 40 minutes and two rounds of drinks pass, we check in again as 3 tables were still empty. Manager said in 15 minutes those reservations expire, so we will be seated. We order another round of drinks in the expectation. After 20 minutes, we check in again. The manager suddenly said there is a 20 minute grace period for all reservations. Then what was the "expiration" time? He should have told us 35 mins, not 15 mins. He doesn't apologize but still promise the table for us. 2 tables still empty. After 20 minutes we check in again, he said we can't get a table because there is a reservation, which does not make sense. We ask to clarify, he just repeats his illogical response. And of course, still no apology or acceptance of his changing words. I have lost all trust in their service. Hope nobody go through this read more

My issue with this place is that it's racist af, they almost only let foreigners in, and white people, my friends got denied at the entrance with the excuse that there was a guest list (there wasn't), it also get super packed by midnight so you can barely walk. This place is made for foreigners, the bouncers ask for cover in English, waiters talk to you in English, even the guy selling drugs at the bathroom talks to you in English. The space is lovely and lined with couches and small tables for an intimate early-evening experience, but as it gets later, this place can get very busy. This place was pretty rad. Came across it by accident when my group was trying to go to a bar across the street that turned out to be closed. We heard something was going on here so we wandered over. Once we got upstairs I immediately dug the setting. It was dark, cool decor and my type of crowd. On this particular night the DJ was spinning darkwave jams so I felt right at home. My friend even had to go ask her who some of these Spanish artists were so we could look them up. Overall this place was dope. Too bad we came across it on our last night there. read more

Truth be told, the bar was around the corner from where my friend was living and he said he wanted to check it out. We did, and it became my favorite bar that I went to in Mexico City. I love this place! Reminds me of the underground parties in SF only with a full bar, great bartenders and an outdoor smoking patio. The DJ was awesome. The decor is great! Modern and minimalistic. I went here with 4 of my cousins (2 girls and 3 guys) and didn't have trouble getting in. The crowd is pretty diverse in age and foreigners didn't outnumber the locals.
