Not only is Heidi a knowledgeable and skilled acupuncturist but she is pleasant and caring. She has top-notch bedside manner. Heidi actually listens to concerns about your physical issues and she proceeds based on what she hears. As for Amanda. This review is for if you are unsure about acupuncture; maybe my story will help a bit. I'm a contractor and about ten years ago I had a work related wrist injury that was so bad I couldn't even hold a pen to write (let alone use work tools). I saw a wrist specialist and he said my only option was emergency surgery. I was scheduled for surgery the next morning. I was 40 years old and had never had surgery of any sort and I really didn't want to (partly because I'm really scared of needles)! After the surgery, I was going to have to go through 8+ weeks of physical therapy before I could return to work. After seeing the wrist specialist, I was sitting at home dreading what was to come the next day. For whatever reason, the idea of trying acupuncture popped into my mind. I've never tried it before and I didn't know anyone else who had, but I decided to try. I found a clinic that could see me that night. After one session, not only could I write again, but I felt confident enough in this course of treatment to cancel my surgery. I had three sessions that first week and was able to ease my way back to work! It took a number of weeks of 2-3 treatments per week, but, I was healed! I was bummed when my accupuncturist retired and moved away, but that led to me finding Tempe Community Acupuncture and Heidi! I couldn't be happier! If you've never had acupuncture before you're probably wondering about some things: 1. Do the needles hurt? My experience has been that about 10% of the needles hurt a bit as they're being put in. However, it's only momentary, the pain quickly goes away. The other 90% of the needles, I only feel a little pressure as they're going in. The needles are incredibly thin and are always brand new. If you've heard somehow that needles are used over and over, that's against the law. Accupuncture clinics have to follow the same health and safety laws related to needle safety and disposal as doctors and hospitals. 2. Is acupuncture a spiritual experience of some sort? No . . . and yes. Both Heidi and my previous accupuncturist have told me that you don't have to 'believe' in acupuncture for it to work. You can believe that acupuncture is a total sham and it can still help you! However, the peace and deep relaxation I feel during and after a session is not only physically healing, but afterwards I feel more emotionally centered and grounded. I feel more in tune with myself and the world around me. For me, that is a spiritual experience! 3. Do I have to take my clothes off? Nope! Just your shoes and socks. While there are acupuncture points all over the body, it's my understanding that some of the most powerful ones are in the feet, ankles, hands and wrists. Here's how things go: When you go into the treatment room, you'll notice soothing music and white noise. Also, the lights are dimmed a bit. You'll see seven comfy recliners spread out throughout a large room. Amanda, at the front desk, will have told you which chair number is yours. You'll see a plastic bin sitting on your recliner. Your shoes and socks go in the bin, along with your phone (on silent or turned off) and other personal items. Then you sit back in the luxurious recliner, push a button on it and recline back. After a minute or two, Heidi (the accupuncturist) walks over and talks with you for a few minutes about what brings you in. She'll ask a few questions and then she knows where to place the needles. By the way, before getting her Master's degree in accupuncture, she was a registered nurse. I've found that this gives her an outstanding understanding of the balance between Eastern and Western medicine treatments. You can then close your eyes for the next 45 minutes and relax! I usually fall asleep! I am so thankful for Heidi and Tempe Community Acupuncture! I'm at a point where I only go in occasionally for a "tune-up" or if some kind of pain comes up. But I know that acupuncture can help a million different ailments, and Heidi knows how to help you! read more

OMG-Tempe Community Acupuncture is one of the best finds for my medical issues ever! So I have insane this insomnia. I quit cold turkey the "stupid" pills. I haven't slept a full a full night in over a year. Done it all up to this point. Pills, Tried about 9 different meds. Mad me stupid, sleep walk and drowsy. I do yoga twice a week, Gong therapy, massages etc. They are fine, they are a cumulative at best but when Heidi McHardy, The owner and Acupuncturist asked me how I was doing and then gave me the treatment-WOW, I slept after the first 10 minutes and woke only to her pulling the needle out. I couldn't believe it! I felt soo good and grounded after that. It works, do it and you will see for yourself how good it feels to being grounded and clearheaded. These guys are amazing! All of March, I was going through some inflammation on one of my shoulders/upper Neck. A friend of mines introduced me to acupuncture and Ive done it once, Years ago when I used to live in Oahu for an allergie issue and forgot how it helped me back then. Im not a needle person at all - still close my eyes when they insert the needles and I dont move at all... but, at this point in my life experiencing uncomfortable pain and having to stop doing your normal everyday duties and not wanting to take medication to just make you feel comfortable and not taking care of the origin of your primary issue is not something I wanted too do and prescribed meds now just makes me more sick and a longer process of healing! Finding these guys on Yelp and going along with their plan (by choice), it really really helped a whole lot! I mostly slept during my one hour session there and my sleeping habits at home became much better. There were alot of things i needed to make changes to from eating, exercising, and being careful that im not 20 yrs and cant be lifting things over 50lbs... Lol! Heidi is phenomenal! I started going after discussing it with my neurologist. I have chronic migraine, and was seeking more relief than my current medications have been able to provide. First of all, If you have never been to Accupunture treatment then you are in for good surprise. As long as you have a open mind and willing to try alternate, natural and hollistic approach for your symptoms rather than popping a pill and suppressing the symptoms, not to forget dealing with side effects.
