Initially, I was looking for a female chiropractor who could treat my 10yr old daughter and came across Bodyworkz. I was excited to find that it was woman owned and operated. They use a chiropractic gun, which I also found to be a plus since it seemed to be less traumatic (a gentle approach for my nervous daughter). Both Dr. Cipollo and Dr. Wallace are wonderful and really made sure my daughter felt comfortable. She has improved greatly and looks forward to her visits now. I recently started getting treatments myself. I'm a runner and have been suffering from tightness in my hips, which over time has become painful. I can't believe how out of wack I was. The chiropractic gun they use, in my opinion, is better than the traditional method. I feel like there is an immediate relief and that more pressure in the surrounding areas are released. It also seems like your adjustment "sticks" longer. I'm now a few adjustments in and am so excited to be feeling this well. I can't believe I was walking around like that for so long! read more

I no longer work at Bodyworkz, and I want to be transparent about why. I have reached a point where I can no longer continue working in an environment that I personally experienced as toxic, inconsistent, and punitive toward its massage therapists. When I had a legitimate medical emergency involving a severe migraine and vomiting, I went to urgent care, provided a doctor's note, and called out because I was physically unable to safely work. Instead of that being treated as a normal medical absence, my clients were moved to another therapist. I appreciated that they were able to be seen, but my schedule was then emptied for the following Monday, leaving me with only one client at the very end of my day. I experienced that as punishment for having a medical emergency. This was not the only issue that led to my decision. When I needed urgent dental care for an infected tooth, I was asked to give two clients massages before leaving at lunchtime, even though I had provided more than an hour of notice and was in significant pain. I declined because I needed medical care and was not able to function normally. I was told that clients are expected to provide 24-hour notice for cancellations, and I was questioned about why I should not have to do the same, despite the situation being a medical emergency. I was also pressured to provide the massages for free, which would have meant losing income while also giving away my services. I have also been required to give massages for free when front desk staff failed to tell me about an early client or failed to update my schedule. In addition, I was not paid for several clients who did not actually no-show because front desk staff had failed to collect or maintain their credit card information. These were administrative mistakes, but the financial consequences were passed on to me. Communication was also routinely inconsistent. Different therapists would be given different--and sometimes directly contradictory--information, leaving everyone confused about expectations and policies. I believe massage therapists deserve to be treated like skilled healthcare and wellness professionals. We deserve clear expectations, accurate pay, consistent communication, and the ability to be sick or have a medical emergency without fearing financial retaliation. I care deeply about my clients, which is why I chose to finish out my remaining scheduled time rather than simply walk away. They did nothing wrong, and I did not want them caught in the middle. But I will not continue sacrificing my health, my income, or my professional dignity to remain somewhere that operates this way. I am choosing to move forward and put my energy into building a practice rooted in respect, communication, ethical care, and the kind of environment I believe both therapists and clients deserve. A deeply disappointing and painful experience. I initially visited this chiropractor seeking relief from mild neck pain. Unfortunately, after several sessions, I began to experience intense numbness and tingling in my hands, legs, and face--symptoms I had never experienced before. Instead of improving, my condition worsened. My physician believes that the chiropractic adjustments may have contributed to these new and distressing symptoms. Since then, I've had to begin further medical treatments and physical therapy, with costs already exceeding $1,000--and I'm still in pain. I'm sharing this not out of anger, but out of deep frustration and emotional and physical exhaustion. I trusted this process hoping to heal, but the outcome was far from what I expected. Pros: If your insurance covers acupuncture like mine does they are willing to bill. This is almost unheard of in AZ. Cons: There were a few reasons I was a bit put off at the practice. Without too much detail I felt the person who worked on me overstepped a bit in a few areas of my medical history, history that falls outside of the realm of chiropractic care but that I was required to disclose on my forms. In addition the comments that were made were actually medically inaccurate, all the more reason this person should not be sharing their opinion or making comments. In addition, I really didn't care that their only approach to chiropractic is by way of the adjustment gun, which to me felt like an overly cautious approach. I opted to try it but there was no relief. I would understand using it on sensitive areas such as your neck, but being the only methodology for the entire body was simply too passive for me. I need a good back wrenching to get things moving around. read more

I started out with chiropractic care here about 6 months ago in addition with massage. Marissa is an excellent massage therapist! If you are in need of deep tissue work especially! You are in for a treat. It is obvious she is very knowledgeable in her work. I HIGHLY recommend. They got 2 stars, because their treatments are wonderful! However I was led to believe (and I asked and showed them my insurance card) that my adjustments were covered. After several treatments I was informed, that they don't take it. And of course was billed for it. I tried to find a solution for both parties, but was swatted down. Basically my fault. BE CAREFUL if you are not prepared to pay out of pocket! They don't want to deal with insurance apparently and you will be stuck with the bill. I have been a monthly regular of BodyWorkz chiropractic care for a few years now. It's time I do a review. The first time I came in to see Dr. Wallace I thought I had just wasted my time and money. The device she uses to make adjustments was different than I had ever experienced. I am in my 50s and have needed regular chiropractic care since my teens. I am 6'8" with a few minor issues that can really get my entire body out of wack and in a great deal of pain. My first impression changed as soon as I got up and walked out. I felt straight! I am amazed at how good I feel after only a month of treatments! I was in pain for years, but I didn't want to return to a traditional chiropractor, having only experienced physical manipulation techniques that I just didn't feel good about. I have had chronic pain in my neck, shoulders and back for years and in 2 weeks Dr. Wallace and Jessica got me feeling great (my wife said she has never heard me say I felt great!). Not sure about acupuncture? I want either, being the overly macho cave sort, but I tried it as about last resort... So what do you do when you tear your meniscus, not bad enough to require surgery, but enough to cause pain almost constantly? I tried the cortisone injection and it did NOTHING. Next came the "jell" injection; much touted and very expensive, even with insurance. Had to wait a month go get approved, then another month for it to begin to east the pain. Had the worst massage I've ever had was extremely uncomfortable and unsatisfactory. I've had many massages in the past and I never had a bad experience until now. The masseuse was very shaky the whole time and I left feeling more tense than I was when I showed up. Well my first impression wasn't very good. I had a 12:30pm appt. I walked in and said hello to the woman at the front desk. She completely ignored me. A minute or so later a customer came to her to schedule an appt. So now I know why she was waiting for him, have enough manner to say, I'll be right with you. Don't ignore me. Then I am to tell her I have a 12:30pm appt. She says "You were supposed to be here at 12:00pm." Like she chastising me as if I'm a child and couldn't understand instructions. I told her my appt was at 12:30pm. Apparently check in was at 12:00pm. Now I'm new so I wasn't familiar with a check in time. Besides the woman who scheduled the appt for me didn't say anything about a check in time. Then the tech comes out and wants to know if I came in yet. So of course the ever polite receptionist says, "That's her." Then she looks at her watch. She knew I was "late" according to them so looking at her watch was a special effect? So they're not sure what to do. I guess no one has ever been late before so they're unfamiliar with the process. I decided that if it was that big a deal, I'll go somewhere else so I left. If the one at the front desk would have been a pleasant receptionist, it might have been different. Her attitude is terrible. I walked about because of her. 3 1/2 years ago I had injured my right quad and had persistent pain. This injury also led to serious lower back pain. I refused to have a doctor look at my injury as the pain would come and go. However, this past September, the pain would not go away after my usual Aleve in the morning and night. Still refusing to see a doctor, my wife made an appointment for me with Dr. Wallace. Not a fan of chiropractors from past experience, I was extremely hesitant. But since my wife had made the appointment I decided to try it out. After 5 adjustment with the Impulse IQ technology, 4 acupuncture treatments, 4 massage sessions and 3 times on the de-compression table, the constant pain was gone. I was actually able to get a good night sleep for the first time in years. I wish I could give BodyWorkz a higher rating.
