If you are a perfectionist, keep all of your electronics in perfect repair and do not want to settle for less, this is the place to take your equipment to restore it back to new and flawless working order. I am a devoted Sony Electronics user - I use their tablets, Blu-ray disc players, headphones, S-frames and VAIO computers. Only my plasma flat panels are different (Pioneer Kuros), but that is a different story. Twice in the last six months, Tek Media Group has saved me. First there was a Blu-ray disc player (a BDP-S1) that needed a HDMI jack. Not easy to find. However, Michael Shank at Tek Media Group found the jack and had one of his brilliant technicians install it. Mind you, it took 4 or 5 weeks, but this part was a component on an older piece of equipment and Sony no longer stocked it. Tek Media Group found it elsewhere. This repair saved me from basically throwing a reference Blu-ray disc player in the trash. Look up this product if you don't know it. Although very slow in booting up, it is a heavy, well made and cosmetically gorgeous piece of equipment that cost $1000.00 dollars originally in circa 2007 - 2008. More recently, I brought them my VAIO laptop for repair. This AW360J desktop replacement is a laptop that has a 16.5 screen that is 1920 by 1080 resolution, sports a Blu-ray disc player AND burner and has a NVidea 9600 graphics processor. Among my uses on this laptop are editing and processing digital photographs taken by Nikon digital SLR's using Nikon NX2 software. The files are NEF or JPEG files that 14-bit and gigantic in size, which takes an incredible amount of processing power. The VAIO blazes through them with amazing speed. Anyway, I was told by a few experts on computer repair (places closer to home that I checked with) that it couldn't be fixed. It needed a motherboard AND keyboard and the CD-ROM was unreliable. Presently, I am writing this review on that very laptop. Completely repaired, not a nick or scratch on it from being in the shop, and working like new. The three parts that were replaced came from Hong Kong, the East Coast, and the CD-ROM came locally from La Verne. Mike at Tek Media told me he has 25+ years locating parts. AND THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING; ie, the talent to find things that are hard to find. Computer manufacturers want you to replace instead of repair. This is what lends itself to the difficulty of finding parts. If you have repairs to be made, you need to be patient. Parts from Asia and beyond need to clear customs. Tek Media is on the ball and will call you when repairs are completed. You just need to be patient. Andy, the owner of Tek Media, is thoughtful, very easy to talk to, works closely with his talented technicians and more than fair on keeping costs down on your repairs. He told me that he repairs around 10,000 pieces of equipment each year so he must being doing something right. Perfectionists, heads up .... They stand behind the work they do, and the products they sell, and in this day and age, I am grateful to have found a company that brings into this modern time the old school ethic that the customer is not only always right, but always appreciated for having turned the knob to the TEK front door, and entering into transactions that build long-term relationships. All TEK employees and their managers, whether they recognize it or not, possess old school work ethics that I, as an old-timer, value highly. They went the extra mile in effort and hardware fixing my beloved B&O stereo (a receiver, turntable, and two speakers I bought nearly 40-years-ago). My wife of 38 years will still remind me that I choose to introduce her first to the B&O before introducing her to my parents. They stood behind their warranty. Wow! My Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 9000 conked out after 14 years of beautiful sound. I had no idea where to get it fixed and the local dealer had closed. I found Tek Media Group on the internet and was first concerned how I could get it to them. They are in Pasadena and I'm in Newport Beach. Next, I wondered if they could fix it because it was pretty old and I have had a lot of trouble getting old electronics fixed. Everyone wants to pass the buck and say things are obsolete, parts can't be found, etc. My experience with TMG couldn't have been better. First, they said they could come to my office, take it off the wall, fix it and bring it back. Robert, who came to my office, couldn't have been more professional or polite. Second, I figured it would take months for them to return it. It took less than two weeks. Finally, like another reviewer, I had a problem after Robert left which turned out not to be TMG's fault. Robert came back, found a switch in one of the speakers that had been shifted to the wrong position, fixed it and it has worked great ever since. I am a skeptic and hard grader by nature. This is the first review I have written because I think it is important to share a positive experience with others. Don't let the positive planted reviews here fool you. Maybe if they're fixing a printer or something simple, they might pass. But if you have high-end video equipment in need of repair, avoid these people like the plague. I brought them an expensive video-tape deck several years back to fix, paid them, brought it back to my shop and discovered that it wasn't fixed. Then, upon returning it, they damaged it even further when re-examning it on their bench--right in front of me! Left it with them and it's still never been fixed--and this is years later. Furthermore their arrogant tech person had the audacity to blame me for the problem. All they had to do was to look at the hour meter to see that I'd not even used the unit. They never fixed it, they never refunded my money, and they've never made any attempt to compromise with me over the matter. And they still have the deck, which is now obsolete anyway. Bottom line here: Their repair techs are both "bulls in a china shop" and outright liars! I've eye-witnessed & experienced this I do NOT believe their claim that they are certified or approved by any manufacturer to work on anything. And if they are, they shouldn't be. I have had a Sony MXD-D40 CD/MD80 player/recorder for over 25 years. It has been an invaluable tool in the work that I do. It finally failed completely; the MD80 side wouldn't record and the CD side wouldn't play. No one in my home town or surrounding area would even touch it. I got in touch with Tek Media Group by Google Search and contacted them. They were polite and helpful from the get-go. After we agreed on terms, I shipped it to them. They repaired it completely, and the service fee was well within limits on such a device. They returned the repaired deck to me in under two weeks from the day I shipped it. I have tested it out and it works as good as new. Plus, the helpful attitude of the office staff and technicians was definitely a blessing. I thought Tek's service was excellent. Dave who answered the phone was very courteous and the repair was done very promptly. I am an old man (75) and went to North Victory instead of South Victory Boulevard. Dave was very patient guiding me into his repair shop and I was very appreciative of his kind patience. Our repaired TV was delivered to our house in Malibu and Robert was very helpful. He was not obligated to spend any time at our house after the delivery, but he was kind enough to spend a good amount of time installing the TV. We were confused as to whether we should fix the TV or buy a new one. I think we made a right decision. I was on vacation early this month and my CHILD dropped by beloved camera. Oh boy -I had to get it fixed and fixed fast (even though my CHILD dropped it I still wanted vacation pictures) Canon Mark III with the lens. Well I googled and found Tek Media. I sent an old Cannon lens 300mm 2.8 IS1 from Spain to TEK as I could find nowhere in Europe that were interested, Being told that Canon no longersupport this model. Anyway I found TEK whom told me the same day that yes the could repair/maintain, this I sent the equipment with a detailed description of what was wrong...Apart from difficulties with my bank and customs there were no problems. Expensive? well to replace with the latest model would cost almost twice as much. I brought my Epson Stylus Pro 4800 K3 Ink Large Format Network Printer USB in to Tek Media recently. They were the only authorized Epson brand repair shop I could find nearby after much searching.
