Lived in CA my whole life and never found a rest stop with free RV dump station and wash out hose. Bathrooms were very clean, working vending machines with cold drink options and plenty of trailer and truck parking. As rest stops go, this is a great option for travelers. read more

About halfway through the Tejon Pass, this rest area was a welcome break. Aside from the fantastic views of the mountains here, there was parking in the shade, decently clean rest rooms and a FREE RV sanitary dump site with flush water. Parking for cars is along the loop in the back which is a plus for the folks who aren't used to the all night idling of trucks. Dump site is at the exit and accessible from both car and truck parking areas. Be aware that many of the California rest areas are closed so plan ahead for disappointment. In my youth, we would NEVER stop at these rest areas; it was always Starbucks or fast food. These rest areas are much easier to go in and out! I save $$$ and I don't end up over-caffeinating or eating excessive amounts of fast food. Quality/Quantity - I guess I am so used to only stopping once from NV or the Bay Area to LA that I don't really notice all these other rest areas. Plenty of restrooms. Atmosphere - Plenty of parking. Quiet. Clean. Pleasantly surprised. Most people arrive for overnights by 10 PM. Overflow parking is possible adjacent the roadside, leading to the village of Lebac. But it's mostly big rigs and with inclines. read more

Most Rest Stops in California serve a very specific purpose. Pull off, use the restroom, stretch your legs and take a needed rest. Doing so will help you be more alert and able to react to the silliness that other drivers think are expert driving techniques. While the vending machines offer many choices, they are frequently not in working order as vandalism seems to be a popular activity. It's a good idea to always carry some drinks and ice as well as some munchies to satisfy your cravings. I stop here every time I drive back to LA. It's a large rest area and there's quite a bit of activity. That being said, they do a nice job keeping it clean. It a little nicer than the rest area on the northbound side. This rest area even has some charging stations for electric cars. I've never seen that at a rest area. Pretty cool! You could have a picnic here. It's usually breezy or windy here though, but for a quick meal, it's probably OK. There's a large pet area. Leash required. The entrance to the rest area comes up fast without much warning so be on the lookout for it and be careful for trucks going super slowly as they pull off the freeway to the entrance. They have plenty of vending machines for snacks and soft drinks. Parking is easy and plentiful. The spaces are wide and deep. I like that the roadway in the parking lot is wide which makes for safer backing out. FYI. I have T-Mobile and I had zero cell reception there. read more

Nice rest area with plenty of parking. Consists of bench areas, vending machines, restrooms, and trash cans. Good for a stop. Has security camera. Plenty of commercial trucks parked. Great place to stay if you have to stay overnight. Dog walk im mg areas. The restrooms have skylights, motion sensitive flushing that works. The mirrors and such are tagged with carvings but the facets and air dryers work. I think the restroom is actually heated. Plenty of light. I didn't notice any bbq grills. Minor history information. After my horrible in an out experience a trip to the restroom was definitely required and this location was surprisingly clean and not at all what I expected would definitely use this rest stop again. This was cleaner than any rest stop I have gone to in a long time. read more

This rest stop is maintained fairly well. Lots of vending machines. Bathrooms didn't have that awful odor of you-know-what's some stops do. It was also fully stocked with plenty of toilet paper and hand dryers. TONS of parking for both private vehicles and big rigs. Also a great stop for pup parents - plenty of grassy areas for their fur babies to stretch and do their business. It's good to know it's there if needed. read more

The Fort Tejon rest area is a nice stop about 37 miles south of Bakersfield. Plenty of parking. Not trashed out like some I've seen... Reasonably clean restrooms with plenty of soap. Good for families, big rigs, RVs, trailers, etc. If we had our dogs, this is a great place to let them stretch out for a bit. Some information boards to glance at... If you can't quite make it to the Grapevine or just passed the Grapevine and still need to go pee, this is the perfect place to stop because there's nothing beyond this if you're going south so I suggest you do stop. It's scenic and clean. If you've got a pet, they will love running around here but keep them on a leash since they'll be tempted to just run off into the wilderness and then good luck getting your pet back. I have stopped here so many times since I'm often travelling back and forth to visit family and this is just convenient if I can't make it to the grapevine or if I need to pee again which I usually do. read more

This is a great scenic, historic, trip-to-the-past Rest Stop in a state that suffers from a dearth of convenient road side rest areas. You pull off and kind of drive to the left, then park in a shaded lot. You get to walk over a bridge and see the buildings from a historic fort that existed in this area. Shady trees in the summer, and snow in winter, since the elevation is about 4000 feet up the Grapevine. Clean restrooms, but only one for men and one for women open on a November trip. read more

Cute little rest area, had a lot of parking spaces, and you could sleep the night here for travelers. Caught a worker getting on everyone about wearing a mask, props to her! In the distance you can see snow on the mountains. My only problem is our choice of parking, why? Everytime a big truck entered the place I would get blinded by their lights. Whether you're just looking for a convenient rest room stop or a chance to stretch your legs in the middle of a Grapevine crossing, the Fort Tejon Rest Area fits the bill. There is plenty of parking and it's close to the restrooms which were reasonably clean and stocked with plenty of toilet paper and seat covers. Two skylights in the ceiling provide natural light during the day. There are hand dryers instead of paper towels. The air they produced was warm, an important bonus on cold windy days like the one on which I stopped. There are a number of picnic tables scattered about the rest area, both shaded and unshaded if you're looking to make this a longer stop. There are benches near the restrooms while you're waiting for your road trip buddies to finish. There are vending machines if you need some road munchies. If your road trip buddies happen to have four feet and a natural fur coat, there are areas (clearly marked) for them to stretch their legs, do their business, and sniff everything in sight. I stopped here on the Northbound side in the late afternoon and there were a number of people making stops here. It felt clean and very safe, even for females traveling alone. read more

As far as roadside stopped go this one has a huge amount of parking and lots of trees with good shade. The pergola is over the picnic benches and buy one tree are also very shady. There are three buildings each having men's and women's restrooms, so there's plenty of places to go and do those things you need to do. Decent rest stop. Plenty of room to park, get out and wander around, stretch, and relax a bit. Lots of mature shade trees and picnic tables. Only negative is the restrooms are rarely clean, and always stink. That's the main reason people stop at rest areas, so that's the main reason for three stars. I always see workers there cleaning, but for some reason they just can't seem to keep up, and overcome the smell. They're always painting over graffiti, too. If people want to make their mark on the world, shouldn't they aim a little higher than a magic marker on a rest stop latrine wall? Just my two cents. read more

I really like this rest stop, for anyone going to Coachella please stop here. I did so with my coworkers because we had 2 buses going Indio, California. That's $2000000 dollars worth of buses for 20 different people. If you are riding or driving a large vehicle this place is idea for a break but first please remember to bring your own lunch and go easy on the drinks because there is no better rest stop than this. This was a very unexpected little treasure nestled along both sides of I-15. There were plenty of spaces for all manner of vehicles, pick mic tables, clean facilities and shade trees. The whole area is clean and well maintained. I went there specifically for the site as it is hard to find solitary spaces in the LA metro area where you can be alone with your thoughts without too much external stimuli. This place fits the bill, and the scenery was an added bonus. It is definitely an Oasis and destination unto itself or along the way to other great spots up and down the coast. If you get the opportunity to stop for a bit of R&R from driving, you won't be sorry you stopped. It is very much above one's expectations. read more

I used to stop here with my family on road trips to visit my grandparents when I was younger. It always felt a bit sketchy, even when I was a wee one. A few years ago they remodeled this rest stop. I honestly am not sure what they did since aesthetically it looks exactly the same. I guess they just redid the restrooms since they did appear much cleaner (& nicer smelling) than I remembered. Weather it's just to stretch or use the facilities this place has just had a face lift. And it was in need. A rest stop to a weary traveler is always good and clean, well stocked ones are a plus. Great rest stop for those traveling from south to north. Needed to Stretch my legs & use the restroom after leaving Los Angeles. Plenty of parking. Restrooms are clean. Staff cleaning the restrooms are nice & welcoming. Vending machines have plenty of options, from snacks, drinks to toiletries in case you forgot something, travel size though, but in case you need to freshen up, look no further. Smaller than most along the I-5 and not as busy. Better to hold it until you reach Tejon Outlet Mall Area since it's only 3/4 mile away.

This was an awesome rest stop. Well needed, after spending several minutes climbing the mountains on I-5 South. There was plenty of parking. The restrooms were spotless. I've never seen restrooms so clean in such a public place. The view of the mountains at this stop was spectacular also. It's a great way to relax after fighting traffic up the mountain. the low review is for the people who frequent this place not the place itself. on the 4th of july i stopped to take care of my newly aquired partial dentures as they had been causing me discomfort.... i remembered i needed my hydrogen perioxide to rinse with and wandered back to my car....only to really i left my upper partial on the sink by accident. no more than 5 minutes transpired when i went back into the bathroom AND MY PARTIAL DENTURE MADE JUST FOR ME WAS GONE.
