We are new owners of a pop up trailer and my husband and I went out to Brite Lake to escape the heat in Bakersfield for a few days. We really enjoyed our stay! I want to go back as soon as possible! We stayed in campsite 5 which is in the full hook up section. We had a view of the lake on one side and mountains and trees on the other, which was so nice! It was also a pretty large campsite. It was a short walk to the horse shoe pits, playground and volleyball court. It was so quiet and peaceful! Perfect place for a date weekend! There is no swimming in the lake though so I don't know if my kids would have enjoyed that part. I still think it would be fun tho. You can rent canoes by the hour. The fishing was so fun! We caught a lot of little tiny fish and one big carp! We saw a couple people catch big bass also. It was a great time. The only thing we didn't like is there are big stickers and foxtails down by the lake and we have dogs. But the customer service and host were awesome and we really enjoyed it. Cannot wait to sneak over there again!

    Campsite

Our first time here and not the last. The camp sites are not on top of each other . Very clean! Our only problem is the site we were put in is not level like so many of the others. It does get windy up here, but livable .

Beautiful Lake setting. They have dry camping, campsites with 30 amp power and water, and even have some sites with sewer hook ups. The camp hosts are very friendly and helpful. There is wildlife everywhere. The downside is that most of the sites are not very level, so bring extra leveling blocks and there is no swimming or gasoline powered boats allowed.

    Surrounded by beautiful mountains.

I loved staying the night at this campground. I am glad for the hookups as the night was pretty cold. Long walks are a must here. The prices are reasonable as well. Check in is at 3pm and check out is at 12 noon and they mean it no matter if the place is full or empty. I felt a little rushed other than that it was a wonderful and relaxing time with lots of God's beauty all around me. I will be back!

I'd go 3.5 but not an option. Had a nice stay Thursday-Saturday. Wanted to get out of the valley heat and it was cooler at Brite but still about 93*. It was comfortable in the shade and there are some sites with shade so that was nice. Couple of restrooms with one shower in each (which we did not use so that is not reflected in this rating). Porta potty by the picnic area (my son said it was pretty gross). A few trout were dying off, which is normal in the warmer weather so that won't reflect badly in my rating. Lots of ants roaming the ground and trees but we weren't bothered by them and they stayed out of the tent and the set up we had so no biggie. Lake levels were pretty low but we managed to get a few nice bass, sadly I couldn't find the crappie bite. Tons of HUNGRY baby bass attacking anything that moves in the water. Hopefully they grow big and stay hungry. I'd definitely come up again and enjoy the breezes, kayak the lake, and bait a hook.

I love this place:) Nice little lake, horse shoe pits, fishing, camping, and just good to hangout. The camping has something for everyone tents can have lake front, and hookups still have great views of the lake. Beware it can be a little chilly beginning season at night. Have fun

Peaceful and quiet campground. Camp hosts are very nice and accommodating and stopped by to make sure everything was fine at our site. We stayed here with our travel trailer for the weekend. It's very dark at night and agree that it's a little difficult to spot the entrance in the dark, but I don't think that's a reason to take away a star. I like campsites that allow me to enjoy nature, so I would not want lights to take away from the beauty of the stars. Do bring a flashlight to walk around at night, but that's just common camping sense. The lake is lovely and I enjoyed the views throughout the day. The hills are behind you and in the mornings the cows wander by (separated by a fence on the hill.) I found the restrooms to be typical of a campsite with steel toilets but they were clean and no issues. The campsite trash cans were emptied several times a day and the campground was not busy so I was appreciative of the hosts' attentiveness. If you want a campground with all kinds of activities and a resort feel, this is not it. If you want to enjoy nature and quiet, this is more like it. On the other hand, the site is only minutes away from Tehachapi, so if you need to make a run to the store for supplies or an emergency item, it's easily done. Nice place for a some rest and relaxation.

    Cute dump station!

It is a nice campground, but I wish u could make reservations. The fishing was good, we caught some trout. All other campers were nice. Didn't really see that much staff and had no contact with them. We paid by envelope in a lockbox which was fine. Loved the totem carvings and tree carvings. Would have gave them more stars but on our last day they turned off the water without telling us or warning us the night before.

Awful wind entire time we were here. Decent campground and wind not their fault; this is more a negative review on Tehachapi as a whole.

Love kayaking on this lake. I have not camped here but there were bathrooms and it is pretty close to the city.

Barbara met us on the porch with a smile and gave us the low down on the place. Because this was our first time she offered to lead us to our "behind the gate" spots 6&7. (Take the lead in..... Its a good distance). As we went thru the gate we soon came to the dirt road and left the world behind. We entered into the gorgeous rolling hills of Tehachapi with Brite lake behind us and the backside of Tehachapi Mtn park in front of you. The road winds around a few bends and you then see the large bathroom / shower house and now see just how HUGE the sites are. We got to site 6 & 7 and were very happy. 6 was all dirt, level, and lake side. 7 has a huge concrete pad, small structure, level, and lake side. Our guide left and we set up. Bring an extension cord and extra water hose as the power and water hook ups are not ideally located but considering the remote nature of the spot its amazing to have the amenities at all. Great water pressure and no electricity issues at all. We loved the resort and were surprised when they delivered firewood for free ( free wood ) to our spot. They don't want bark beetles so they give you local wood to burn. Bathrooms were cleaned every day and well kept. Cold water in the showers but oh well. Dump station at the bathrooms for the rigs is nice. Just watch you angle as i had to go in against the arrows and point up hill to het the fun out. Love this place and will return!!!

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with unhurried charm, service with a smile, and a feeling that we were more family than guests. The Rankin family and staff are truly exceptional. Sarah, Clint, Shelby, Emma, Chris, Ms. Glenda, and Mr. Bill are world-class hosts who made our stay far exceed every expectation. We were celebrating our anniversary, and on our very first night they surprised us with a delicious cake, making us feel incredibly special and cared for. The horseback riding was wonderful, taking us through beautiful meadows and across the valley. One of my favorite experiences was visiting Sarah's farm, where we met goats, a donkey, chickens, mini horses, farm cats, and even a baby calf that I had the chance to bottle-feed! We loved the swimming pool, they have archery, a fire pit, pool table, or if you want to just be quiet and read a book that is amazing too. The Fresh air was wonderful and we were able to nap and just enjoy reconnecting. Evenings were filled with fun, family-centered activities. We loved learning square dancing on our first night, and the second evening featured a unique Rankin Ranch game that had everyone laughing and connecting. Sunday was especially memorable. The day began with a delicious waffle breakfast, followed by horseback riding and a hayride to a gorgeous meadow for lunch. The Rankin Ranch beef burgers were outstanding--honestly one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. The afternoon horseshow tournament was the perfect ending to a wonderful day. What makes Rankin Ranch so special is that it's truly an unplugged experience. There are no TVs and no Wi-Fi, but what you gain is far more valuable: peace, relaxation, meaningful conversations, and the chance to reconnect with the people around you. As a bonus, the ranch offers subscription boxes featuring their incredible beef, as well as quarter, half, and whole cattle available for shipment. We left feeling refreshed, grateful, and already dreaming about our next visit. Thank you, Rankin Ranch, for being such a class act and for creating an experience we'll never forget. We can't wait to come back. I

DO NOT recommend a visit even if your patience is high and your expectations are low. If you go:…read morerequest a bed without exposed mattress springs; know BBQ dinner portions are mini & insufficient BBQ sauce for everyone; the fishing lake is a gunky algae divot; your trail ride may just walk in a square around the barn; prepare for extremely ill-mannered children that are allowed to stay; & accept staff apologies but receive no satisfaction.
