Have been here for a few months and havent had much to complain about, til now! The campground bathroom is anything but clean!!! Spoke with Brody this morning and informed him of the nastiness and even offered to clean it, and he declined said management wouldnt go for it!!' Said he had been meaning to clean it but had been busy and would clean it today! Well i just went up to take my shower and ended up cleaning the shower myself since it was disgusting! Took pics but not before i cleaned it! Scrubbed it twice and it still looks like this!!! Theres never any toilet seat covers and sometimes at night theres no tp or paper towels

    Resort? Seriously.... NOT

Well, at first I was going to write a very positive review, possibly 4-5 stars, Full h/u, large pull through sites, clean and reasonably priced, but then the manager Carlos, I believe his name is, ruined all that. We first stopped in and through their pay at the window station paid for two nights. Then because of the fires that were going on at our next destination we decided to stay longer and paid for a week online. Well, come the afternoon of the 2nd day we originally paid for we had someone literally banging on our door telling us to GET OUT! It was Carlos. To make a long story short... I showed him our confirmation of paying for a week and instead of apologizing he said quote, well ok BUT you CAN'T come back for a year! WTH? WOW...REALLY? OH DON'T WORRY CARLOS.. WE WILL NEVER BE COMING BACK!!!

Ask the Community - Bear Mountain RV Park

Hi, I was wondering if you they have service to fill up for water & also to fill up propane tank?

Water you can fill up at your site, propane no. The nearest place for propane is a few miles back towards town

The Ranger was nice when I had a minor issue. The hours of the Rangers office are only till 5 PM I think. Why only 3 Stars? My experience at this campground was not as expected. - There was a group who decided to make the campground one big party and were blasting their music for the whole campground to hear. Many times they would ride around the loop blasting their music for everyone to hear as well. I guess they thought it was cool. They weren't young by any means. They were on scooters too, so not like they were trying to get exercise out of it. - Many folks decided it was alright to drive the wrong way around the loop, despite there being large signs that say "WRONG WAY, DO NOT ENTER". - I had many folks hanging out in my campsite since it was next to the water. I guess they either don't know of campground etiquette or don't care. I always thought you "don't" walk through someone else's campsite.

There is running water from a faucet at the camp spot , toilets and hot showers . And they do keep it clean and provide toilet paper . Now, if you are part of a big group of campers you might want to get a site that's further out of the camp site near the river or the fields because of noise. If you are loud enough, your neighbors will hear you or you will hear them and can cause problems between camps especially during quiet time. Respect the quiet time which is at 10pm. My camp is loud, we play music and clown around and have good fun, and sometimes it might bother other campers, so I would book a site near the ends of the camp site where there are no campers behind you . Other than that, this is a really great place to camp . There is a convenient store a mile away but everything there is overpriced but convenient. This campground is infested with friendly squirrels that will beg for food or eat your scraps. Try not to feed them .

We were mainly looking for a safe and accessible place to set up for a solid night's sleep before heading on. We arrived later, when the kiosk was closed already. However, the instructions were clear-due to us already having made a campsite reservation (we made it the night before so that was a plus-sites still available and easily booked through the Kern County Parks and Rec) and instructions on our reservation confirmation to find our campsite and check in with the kiosk to confirm no additional charges and that we had arrived and were leaving within the identified reservation's check in and out days and times we had selected when making the reservations. A lively camping area with varying ages, lots of families or friends gatherings (but not at all chaotic or rambunctious) and no other campsite's festivities impacted our sleep or experience which was a plus! Fit the criteria of the type of mid-road trip camping site we would utilize again.

Its very outdoorsy and there are bugs but if you prepare you can really deter them. We spray our campsite upon arrival for ticks and fleas and roaches. We keep all food inside and clean up and throw away all trash. We don't use harsh led lights. We also jeep a low (one log) smoke fire going during the day as the smoke really helps keep em at bay but doesn't smoke out the campsite. Plus it smells good and makes it campier. Tips: bring outside sandals and watershoes. They have goat-head stickers that feel like tiny needles when stepped on and they are everywhere no matter how much to try to sweep. We have a no shoe policy in the rv so it really helps. Bring lots of bug spray for your person. Its a lake and there are lots of bugs. This place really is awesome for skiers. The rangers are serious about the safety and integrity of this place so of you're looking for a big party its not glamis. Go somewhere else. Cons: tent camping. Probably not the best place if its hot and muggy. You really need ac in these temps. The lake is a huge help but hey trailers are always better. The lake is slowly losing water level. But not by a whole lot. Maybe 5 feet in 20 years. So for boat owners with low props it could be a concern. The rangers are very vigilant. And while this isn't a con for me it could be for you. So mind your manners. A little goes a long way here. But if you want a good skiing lake this is the best place in Cali.
