12/2/22 Pet & picnic friendly

In my youth, we would NEVER stop at these rest areas; it was always Starbucks or fast food. These rest areas are much easier to go in and out! I save $$$ and I don't end up over-caffeinating or eating excessive amounts of fast food. Quality/Quantity - I guess I am so used to only stopping once from NV or the Bay Area to LA that I don't really notice all these other rest areas. Plenty of restrooms. Atmosphere - Plenty of parking. Cut and pasted from website - Tejon Pass Rest Area Facility Summary Restrooms: YES Water: YES Picnic Tables: YES Litter: YES Phone: YES Handicap Access:: YES RV Dump Station:: YES Food Vending:: YES Pet Area:: YES Cigarette Ash Dump:: NO Service - Self service. Price - Free, well our tax $$ at work. Owner Comment - Thank you for maintaining these rest areas.

I stop here every time I drive back to LA. It's a large rest area and there's quite a bit of activity. That being said, they do a nice job keeping it clean. It a little nicer than the rest area on the northbound side. This rest area even has some charging stations for electric cars. I've never seen that at a rest area. Pretty cool! You could have a picnic here. It's usually breezy or windy here though, but for a quick meal, it's probably OK. There's a large pet area. Leash required. The entrance to the rest area comes up fast without much warning so be on the lookout for it and be careful for trucks going super slowly as they pull off the freeway to the entrance. They have plenty of vending machines for snacks and soft drinks. Parking is easy and plentiful. The spaces are wide and deep. I like that the roadway in the parking lot is wide which makes for safer backing out. FYI. I have T-Mobile and I had zero cell reception there.

Nice rest area with plenty of parking. Consists of bench areas, vending machines, restrooms, and trash cans. Good for a stop. Has security camera. Plenty of commercial trucks parked. Great place to stay if you have to stay overnight. Dog walk im mg areas. The restrooms have skylights, motion sensitive flushing that works. The mirrors and such are tagged with carvings but the facets and air dryers work. I think the restroom is actually heated. Plenty of light. I didn't notice any bbq grills. Minor history information. Great stop for a restroom break.

The Fort Tejon rest area is a nice stop about 37 miles south of Bakersfield. Plenty of parking. Not trashed out like some I've seen... Reasonably clean restrooms with plenty of soap. Good for families, big rigs, RVs, trailers, etc. If we had our dogs, this is a great place to let them stretch out for a bit. Some information boards to glance at... Vending machines are also available. California Highway Patrol has quite a presence in this area. Review #398 Yelp challenge 79/100

Fort Tejon Rest Area

This is a great scenic, historic, trip-to-the-past Rest Stop in a state that suffers from a dearth of convenient road side rest areas. You pull off and kind of drive to the left, then park in a shaded lot. You get to walk over a bridge and see the buildings from a historic fort that existed in this area. Shady trees in the summer, and snow in winter, since the elevation is about 4000 feet up the Grapevine. Clean restrooms, but only one for men and one for women open on a November trip.

Well there's lots of open space here to take your pet for a walk, could use a bit of water

As far as roadside stopped go this one has a huge amount of parking and lots of trees with good shade. The pergola is over the picnic benches and buy one tree are also very shady. There are three buildings each having men's and women's restrooms, so there's plenty of places to go and do those things you need to do. Today was a gentle breeze in the shade it's almost a bit chilly. This is got all the services you would expect in a roadside rest seems like a good stop to me

Pet area to give your pups a chance to stretch their legs, too! Water for filling pet bowls is available

I have been traveling more for work and have been staying at many Hilton properties for work…read more This property from the website looks very nice and it also got better than average reviews, I did enjoy my stay here and would have given it actually five stars, but I had to take a couple off. Let's get into it. Property itself, as I said is very nice inside, updated and clean. No fee for parking each night and it comes with a free breakfast, which is always a great thing. The rooms are also nice, updated, not huge, but plenty of space, they have a fridge and coffee maker. Very comfortable, but also probably the main reason for the 3 stars. The bed was comfortable, but as I was sleeping, I started to itch a bit and then after my stay I was very itchy for a few days. Not sure what the deal was, but not a good thing. I washed all my bedsheets at home and showered a number of times to ensure whatever was in the bed was not with me any longer. As I said, I think after 2-3 days the itching was over and back to normal. Too bad, as I enjoyed my stay otherwise. The staff here was very friendly and the also had a small indoor pool and a small gym. These two things were great, but also contributed to my one less star, the pool looked nice, but looked to be due for a cleaning. The gym was great, everything I need, but only one bench and no multifunction weight machine, which is a downer. As I said, love Hilton, staff was great, free breakfast, free parking, nice rooms, great looking property, pool and gym. But the itching spell I had after prevented me from rating this one higher, that combined with the gym also brought it down just a bit as well. Gym part is pretty minor though. I am sorry I cannot give them a higher rating this go around, enjoy!
