Finally a rest stop that's open on I -5. For some reason most of the rest stops have been closed heading south on I -5. We really needed a spot to let our dogs out to do their business. This was not the greatest location. No grass,only weeds and foxtails. Really didn't want my dogs wandering in the weeds. Had them pee in the parking lot on my tire. Was not happy with that. I know the state is running out of money,but at least knock down the weeds,it's a fire hazard read more

Decent rest area. Glad to be able to stop and use the facilities. Women's room had toilet paper, working toilets, soap, cold water and 2 air blowers that worked. Husband had toilet paper, working toilets, soap and water but no towels or blowers that worked in the Men's room. Came out with wet hands! Area looked nice. Saw the vending machines but didn't need them. Lots of parking spots. Glad it was here!! read more

On the way to Bakersfield or Oakland this is my spot to stop, stretch, and definitely take a potty break. The restrooms are always clean, and there's always plenty of space to park. They have a couple of vending machines and a guy who sells fruit. Worth the stop. read more

They have clean bathrooms that are open 24/7, vending machines with cold drinks & snacks and it's well maintained. Side note: My wife lost her shoe somewhere in the parking lot. We looked all over and couldn't find it. I asked a maintenance crew if they had seen it and was lucky enough to talk to "Cage", the supervisor. He immediately told me they had picked it up and it was somewhere in one of their trash bags. Cage and his crew ended up going through about 12 bags of garbage when they finally found it! Really good rest stop! It is clean and good amount of parking. If you need to do a mini walk or your pets before continue driving, you are able to as it is a decent size rest stop. A hidden gem of this rest stop is the tamale person who sells there. I HIGHLY recommend spending the 3 bucks and getting one. It is honestly one of the best tamales I ever had. It is cash only. If the tamale person is not there, you can buy snacks from the vending machine. So if you need to take a break from the drive, DO IT HERE. read more

The Tejon Pass Rest Area is basically your typical RA you find around California. They all follow pretty much the same mold. Easy on and off, ample parking for everything from Tractor trailers and RV's to small cars and motorcycles. They bathroom are usually clean and they have open areas for kids and pets to burn off some energy on long trips. This particular stop has views of the surrounding areas but not much else. the main raison we pulled over is that it was snowing so we thought we would have some fun. read more

I stop here every time I go over the grapevine. This is one of the few California rest areas that I can always count on to be open. It's a very sparse looking rest area. It's not the kind of place you want to stop and have lunch. There are just a few picnic tables, but again, I wouldn't recommend stopping here for a lunch break. It's almost always breezy or windy and it certainly isn't pretty. This rest area gets a lot of traffic, but they do a nice job of keeping it clean. There are two buildings that have men's and women's restrooms, one is on the left as you're walking from the car parking lot, and one is to the right. Almost everyone goes to the left. If you use the building on the right, it's much less crowded. There are some vending machines should you want to buy a snack or a soft drink. If you just need a quick stop to use the restroom or stretch, this rest area will do just fine. read more

We ALWAYS stop here on our way up to Fresno / Madera counties. It's been a couple years, (not by choice), since we've been up here, but it remains the same. Solitude and quiet... exactly what is needed in these wack ass times. Peaceful, serene, spot to stretch your legs, grab a snack, (via vending machines), or even during those unfortunate times, drop a deuce in the attached facilities. Restrooms are typically very clean, views surrounding the stop are absolutely amazing, and it's just a nice spot to stretch your legs... If you bring pets they can basically enjoy the facilities / amenities as us uprighters, sans the restrooms. (Help keep the area clean and bring your doggie doodie bags folks, please and thank you!). A bit dated but does the job. The Tejon Pass rest area needs an upgrade but is a perfect stop for your needs. There are two buildings for the rest rooms and plenty of parking spots for autos and trucks. There are picnic benches, vending machines, grass areas for your pets. You also get a nice open plains view of Frazier Park. I'm sure it gets pretty cold during the winter time with the snow and rain. The rest area is right before you head down the hill to Grapevine going 5N or right after you climb the hill going 5S after the Tejon outlets. read more

I'm so happy this rest stop was open. Restrooms were clean. There are no paper towels, only hand dryers. They have a good amount of parking for diesel trucks and RVs. Pet area could be better if it were rock or bark but its nothing but weeds and fox tails. read more

If you're headed for a long drive heading north of Los Angeles, this is a good place to break, even just for a quick stretch. I make it a point to swing by whenever I make that drive. Amidst the pandemic, people are mindful about keeping their distance and wearing masks. The bathrooms are somehow maintained clean and replenished with plenty of hand soap and toilet paper. And if that wasn't cool enough, there are designated areas should you be traveling with your fur babies. Parking is never an issue - TONS of spots open for big rigs and cars alike. Beware of drink machines!!! It's not like I lost a buck, how about closer to $4! The machine worked fine, it was the person who loaded it, that caused me to lose money. They put Coke Zero in the slot for the Diet Coke, which made my purchase a waste. I'm allergic to aspartame, so had to dispose of it. I'll buy the candies, cause u can see them. This review is solely based on one issue with this rest area. I have never encountered empty facilities or supplies out. So my review is based on the lack of lighting, there is around 6-7 street lights for both the auto AND truck parking leaving majority of this facility in complete darkness. If you are alone using this at night be aware of your surroundings and if you can, park under one of the few lights. I have recently used this facility and nothing has changed for the last month and a half, it is extremely dark and unsafe at night. I hate having to stop at this facility during the evening hours. read more
