Recently I…read morewas driving from Austin to Dallas and decided to stop halfway in Waco and check out my old taco spot. Since I went there they have upgraded the setup and now have a good amount of covered seating and a television (used to be a projector). Main thing I recommend is their Agua de melon, I actually hated melon before drinking this and it single handedly made me appreciate melons. It is a generously large cup and so cold, refreshing and sweet. Sometimes I would order 2 because its that good. Tacos were better than I remembered with al pastor tasting well marinated and corn tortillas absorbing a lot of flavor. Not pictured was the chicken quesadilla I ordered which was and always is extremely filling and delicious. I would recommend asking for some extra salsas if you order the quesadillas but for the money such good value. Last thing I will say is the service is incredible, one of the women that used to serve me was there and she is incredibly nice, helpful and just adds to the overall great experience here. Definitely will continue to stop by and get that Agua de melon and tacos on road trips!

I'd give each of them 5 stars each! The problem being the Mexican carts - Taquisa Waco and the other one I think it said Chucherria or something. The service not good. The Mexican food was bad - rice was mushy and flavorless, the beans were sour. Could not get a burrito with beef tongue no reason given so we got the taco plate with the tongue and they were ok. Now the other cart had fresh waters like watermelon and pineapple which were good, but I got a cup of corn and they seemed way overcooked or as if they came from a can and also had a sour/bad taste. Threw that away with the rice and beans. If we go back definitely avoiding Mexican food.

I have to say, Fuego's food is good. Unfortunately, the customer service at the Waco location seems…read moreto be operating under the assumption that customers are optional. I stood at the counter for about five minutes waiting to place my order while an employee continued making tortillas and completely ignored my existence. Not a "Hi," not an "I'll be right with you," not even eye contact. I genuinely started wondering if I had somehow become invisible. After finally placing my order, I waited another ten minutes for my to-go food. When they eventually handed me an order, it wasn't even mine. The same employee who took my order was the one who gave me the wrong bag, which was honestly impressive in a way I wish it hadn't been. The restaurant only had a couple of customers at the time, so this wasn't a case of being overwhelmed during a lunch rush. There were more employees working than customers ordering, yet somehow my husband and I still felt forgotten. What really sealed the experience was the complete lack of urgency or concern. We were clearly frustrated, and the staff seemed entirely unaware--or entirely unbothered. It's hard to tell which is worse. The food saved this review from being one star because it was actually good. But good tacos can only carry so much weight when the customer service makes you feel like you're interrupting someone's day by ordering food at a restaurant. If the service matched the quality of the food, Fuego would be a five-star experience. Right now, the tortillas are doing all the heavy lifting.
