This place is great. The pizza and meatballs are my favorite. The outdoor patio is so nice when the weather is warm.

I love this place. The patio is my favorite place to be on a nice day in Athens. It's super family friendly as they have a sand pit for kids. I don't have children, but have not been bothered or overrun with them during any of my visits. I usually grab a pizza, never the same one back to back. Their salads are great and fresh. The fried goat cheese is to die for. My partner has complained lately that their calzones are never the same size anymore and seem to be getting smaller and smaller, but we still come because I love it. They've got a daily happy hour from 3-6, which definitely includes drink specials. I'm not sure about food. Last thing, I love that this place is so close to Creature Comforts. We often grab pizza at Ted's to enjoy there if we get too hungry because they don't serve food. Ted's, however, does serve beer and wine so don't think you have to walk to Creature for a drink. read more

Another stop on our trip to Athens for a football weekend, led us to Ted's. I won't say we found this one on Yelp. But after stumbling across it and seeing the wait other places, it checked out on Yelp. The order taking process was the only bad part of the experience. The line was long and out the door. It puts you in that "Should I go ahead and hold the door for the people in front of me" and "Do I continue holding the door open for the people behind me or let it shut in their face since they aren't taking it" situations. Its not as bad as I make it... but I had time to think about these things due to the wait. As with most places, I don't blame the place for a wait. I'm glad they are popular. But in this situation, it didn't flow well. When we got inside, there were places that were supposed to be holding menus, but they were empty. People were taking the menus all the way to the counter and no way to refill. There was also no way to see the beverage choices until you got to the counter. I was in charge of ordering a non-alcoholic beverage for a pregnant lady. This crunch time decision that had to wait for the last minute was stressful. Once again, too dramatic on my part. But again, inconvenient. Also you couldn't open a tab and order more beer if you wanted. You basically had to cut the line and order if you wanted another. ALL that to be said, that is why I took off a star. The pizza was great. We were all hesitant on getting a pizza to ourselves. But we were all hungry too. It ended up being the perfect portion for us. The pizza was also delicious. I went with the Edgar since it sounded right up my alley. The sausage was great and the jalapeños added the perfect amount of kick. The crust is a huge part of good pizza to me, and this one was on point. No complaints about the food or the delicious beer that I got. Knowing the experience for next time would help. But for a first time, the ordering process was not great. But well worth it for the pizza. read more

Let's go get some pizza." -- Kick-Ass 2 (2013) Wandering downtown, dying for food on a Friday night and every place had a crazy long wait and across the street we see TMB. We decided to walk in and give it a shot. The line was long, but seemed to be moving. The deal is your order at the counter and then grab a seat - the seats seemed to be clearing as soon as someone would order, so it felt like there would be seats open by the time we placed our order. So the placed smelled divine, we picked a good place. There were plenty of pizzas on the menu to choose from, but the build your own options of toppings looked too good not to pick that option. Also, there were garlic knots on the menu. Sold! I opted for a white pizza with prosciutto and arugula. We found a table and waited for our food to arrive. The garlic knots showed up quickly with a side each of marinara and oil. They were small, but packed with yeasty flavor. They could have used more garlic to really be called garlic knots - but they were still yummy. 6 to a half order was enough for 2 people to share, but if you were also sharing a pizza, they are not enough. When the pizza came out, oddly it had a couple of green flecks on it and I think the look on my face was enough to tell the server that something was not right. She asked if it was arugula and when I said it was, she asked if I would like more. Ummm more? I'd like any at all. She took it away and brought it back packed to the gills with arugula on top! I dove in and it was delicious. Not quite to the level of Neapolitan style pizza I can find in Atlanta, but still pretty good. I devoured the entire pie - and I don't regret it one bit. It's great to know this place is downtown and a great quick option before a show at the Georgia Theatre in the future. I would definitely return. read more

I had a great experience here! Have been twice, both on Friday nights on game weekends; the line was long, but quite manageable. The pizza is pretty good! Great prices and each is truly a pizza for one. Not the BEST pizza I've ever had, but good! I like that they have an interesting selection of toppings rather than just your standard marinara sauce and pepperoni. My favorite part of Ted's is the atmosphere. They have a really fantastic patio with TONS of seating. They also have a great dessert selection and a really decent beer selection. I like that it's seat yourself, so you don't feel pressure to get up and leave if you'd like to stay and have a few drinks. read more

Ted's "Most Best" is only Ben N.'s "Pretty Good." Or maybe I alternatively should say that the actual "most best" of Ted Hafer, the late co-owner of the Grit, was a bit better than Ted's Most Best, the restaurant that is his namesake. Ted's Most Best specializes in casual Italian: personal, Neopolitan-style pizzas, calzones, panini, salads. The pizza was OK but not particularly noteworthy: fresh ingredients on the margherita but rather bland, non-descript crust. It probably could have stayed in the oven a minute or two longer. Baked goat-cheese side salad was rather unmemorable as well, although it's hard to complain too much about a little slab of baked goat cheese. The main problem at Ted's Most Best is the counter-service ordering system. At least on the night I was there, a single cashier was not only taking orders but also pouring beer and wine. Mercifully, the line was short when we got into it, but a few minutes later it stretched out into the patio and seemed to be painfully slow. An ancillary problem with this one-cashier arrangement is that, if you want a second beer or glass of wine, you have to go up to the bar and just hope like hell to get the harried cashier's attention. You'll probably piss off the folks waiting in line while you're at it. It's possible that the restaurant was short-handed on this evening, but it was still a really untenable situation, and I felt sorry for the poor guy at the cash register for having to deal with it. Where Ted's scores big points is with its patio, which seems enticing and relaxing. Unfortunately for me, just about everybody out there, as is often the case when I visit Athens, was about half my age, which makes me feel like I'm about 105 years old. read more

I have to give these guys some love. Portions seemed a little small for the price point, but the food was delicious. Service was fast. And it's clear staff is really into their guests. Every thing they did, they did with a smile. I was readily seated at 5:30pm on a Wednesday. They let me hang out until my co-conspirators arrived, and then kept our glasses full as our conversation developed. In fact, they were really good at clearing off the table so we could all get some work done. We also ordered a stack of pizzas to go. It seemed to take less than a few minutes for that stack of pizza to arrive to the table. Hot and ready to go. I'll happily return to Ted's when I'm next in Athens. My daughter, who attends UGA, brought me here for lunch. What a wonderful find. We both ordered pizzas with prosciutto and mushrooms. They were divine. The pizza was super thin and reminded me of the pizzas I get in Europe. They are baked in a brick oven. You order at the counter and beside the counter where you order is a glass case filled with desserts. We decided to try the cheesecake. Oh man was it good. She had the peach and I had the chocolate almond (can't remember the exact name). We ended up trying each other's and I ended up liking hers better and she liked mine better. The peach cheesecake was very flavorful and smooth. So very good. I'm looking forward to another lunch date with my favorite girl and this is definitely where we will be coming. read more

Service was fast and friendly. Salads were dry with hardly any dressing on them served on small paper plates that were impossible to eat from with our plastic silverware. I'm sure this is a Covid thing. Meals also had very little sauce, so we would not recommend The pasta dishes unless they offer extra dressings and sauces. read more

This place was just the ticket and we enjoyed a wonderful baked goatcheese salas with grilled chicken and and ciabatta roll. The goat cheese salad although good, was an extremely small portion with about 2oz of grilled chicken- it was the large portion too? I've had a few pizza's here over a few visits. Personal taste, I'd say the pizza is good, nothing special or about of the ordinary. The ranch is so good. This is a nice restaurant in downtown Athens. The ambiance and atmosphere of the restaurant is very cute and unique. The building appears to be an old garage that has been converted to a restaurant. Awesome pizzas. I usually get the Florentine and I put sriracha honey all over it, and man is it good. Great prices, nice seating downtown. GREAT pizza. This place is so cool. From what I can tell, it's a converted auto shop turned pizzeria. Great atmosphere, even for a Sunday night. The staff was cool and nice too. Came here because they were one of only a couple places to offer gluten free pizza options that weren't the traditional delivery chains. Prices were reasonable, we found out 5 mins after we ordered and paid that they were "out of gluten free crust". Bummer. Probably something you should bring up at the register not as we're waiting for the food we already paid for. The substitute GF pasta was a pretty small serving for the price. I have eaten at Ted's and had delivery from Ted's on several occasions. I have NEVER been disappointed. Until this time. Ordered tried and true items, and I thought the food must have come from a different place. The arugula pizzas just were not as good. Maybe a new cheese? The pizza may have been jostled in delivery. It was just fine, not delicious (as it has always been. The garlic knots were overcooked little rocks. The caprese is one of my faves. Flavor and ingredients were good. Caprese simply is not a delivery item. If this had been my first time ordering from Ted's, I would have given it only two stars. It certainly was NOT Ted's most best. And it did not live up to Ted's memory. It pains me to say this of what has been a real Athens staple. read more

I like sauce but this is the freshest tasting, mouth watering, Red sauce I've had in I can't remember how long. Great atmosphere, a little quiet but it's 230 on a Monday afternoon. Teds has it all. The atmosphere is thoughtfully done, and is simply impeccable. It's a wonderful place to spend time, and offers great indoor and outdoor seating. The pizzas are delicious. My favorite is the Perella, although I'm a huge fan of the special pizzas they have everyday. My ALL TIME FAVORITE, is the fried green tomatoes and sausage pizza. Please for the love of all that is holy, put this on the summer menu or something. The salads are simple, fantastic, and properly dressed which is a big deal for Athens. I'm not huge on giving 5 stars but Teds deserves it. Everything is in harmony, and it all works really wonderfully. I've eaten here probably dozens of times, and not once have I ever been disappointed. The food isn't high-end, but its thoughtfully prepared and really meshes with the feel of the whole place. *I do wish they would keep around some of the most popular special pizzas. I love sunny side up eggs on my pizza. So this place was bound to jump on my list of places to try. Instead of the bacon & egg though we tried the Hawaiian, and I ordered a house salad and the soup of the day, a butternut squash soup topped with crème fraîche w/ croutons. All of it came out perfect. The butternut isn't overly pureed, and nicely seasoned. This place also has a kickin' patio. The insides okay, but the patio is pretty chill. They have a sandbox with toys for kids to play in too which I found as a neat touch. Add in a nice cool breeze, and we're set. Best patio in Athens, Ga. I recently went to Ted's for the second time with two friends. It was 78 degrees, sunny with a breeze so obviously we sat on the rather large patio. There are lovely flowers, bocce ball courts, butterflies flying around, and tons of familiar faces walking by. The inside is nice too, but the outside is just prime for a great time. We had a buy one get one free coupon in hand so the three of us split two smallish pizzas- probably 10 or 12 inches across. One was the Perella which most delicious I must say. It had goat cheese, prosciutto, garlic, and fresh herbs on it. The other was a standard cheese pizza plus capicollo which is essentially cured, spiced ham. I preferred the Perella, but both were big hits. For $11 we got 2 pizzas and 2 soft drinks. Quite the steal for a lunch for three. Last time I had one of the sandwiches. It was equally as tasty and came with a fresh side salad. The wait staff brought our meal to the table after only a short wait. Generally you have to go to the counter if you want a refill on your drink. Ted's is a great place to grab a quick lunch on your break and an even better place to sit for hours. Ted's is in my top 10 for atmosphere no doubt about it. Casual, refined, unique, relaxed pizzalicious dining at its (most) best. read more
