The food however...omg that was bad. I cannot figure out how this place has so many amazing reviews. We ordered the arugula and quinoa salad, which was completely bland and lifeless. I also got the wagyu burger with gruyere and fries. I have had chuck burgers that were better than this. I'm not expecting A5 or anything but this was just inedible. It was chewy and I ate less than half of it before giving it up as a bad job. The fries tasted old, like they were stale, but we ate all of them just because we were starving. I am extremely disappointed. I paid $66 bucks for this meal and a cocktail. I would have paid $20 and that's just because the cocktail was pretty good. So again, kudos to the bartenders. I like Ted's Corner Tavern. Well, -ish. We went there on before catching a movie. Granted, the draw of going was their happy hour oyster special. But, it looked like an awesome place and had all the fixings to make it on to the short list of our go-to's for movie date night. Unfortunately, it didn't quite hit the mark. I was a bit put off that their website touts their oysters, almost making them sound like they are a connoisseur of what is undoubtedly my obsession. So, I was very excited. They claim to "locally sourced the waters of British Columbia, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Virginia ... hand selected and intensely groomed, providing optimal body, pillow-like softness and clean flavor." So, one would expect as least two choices. No, just the one. And, when I inquired about the oysters, I was pretty much told it's usually the same, which would be fine, had they not had a separate page on their site devoted to oysters, and made it sound like they'd have a wide selection on the lines of Crave or Cull & Pistol. I was very annoyed by that. We still would have come if they had been more honest. I wouldn't have had such a high expectation. That said, the oysters they had were very good, mostly because of the chef's unique way of serving them with a slice jalapenos on top and both lime and blood orange segments on the side. They were delicious; dare I say, yummy. That little extra jalapeno oomph was a pleasant surprise, and mellowed my annoyance a little. Well, until the rest of the meal arrived. But I'll get to that moment. Before we go down the reasons we were less than happy, let's first talk about the things that TCT really shined with .. We got there early, around 5 p.m., before the happy hour crowd. We were the only ones there when we arrived. (The place was packed when we were done and on our way out 45 minutes/an hour later.) So, we really got to have a good look at the decor. The place itself is absolutely adorable. Charming. Quaint. It's extremely welcoming. I absolutely love the irreverent humor that went into putting up photos of Teds of all kinds from Roosevelt to Knight to Bundy. That's my kind of off-kilter humor that shows a place not taking it all so seriously, and I mean that with the highest compliment. And the service was stellar. The bartender was our hostess with the mostess at the start. Then our waitress arrived and picked up. Both were delightful, attentive and very friendly. Flawless, in fact. The problem is that the appetizers we ordered beyond the oysters really fell flat, and that's being kind. We had the spicy cauliflower. They were neither spicy, nor cooked very well. And, I LOVE cauliflower. That's my other obsession, behind oysters. The truffle flatbread tasted like something you'd buy in the frozen section and make in the microwave. Actually, that's being a little bit kind. It was like the poor man's flatbread, from your college days, where you'd buy rolls for a $0.50 at the market and try to make it yourself for under $1 and pretend it's gourmet. We couldn't even eat it. And it's almost deceiving to call whatever was on top "mushrooms" "cheese" or "truffle oil." Really, I'd expect this at some tiny hole in the wall in Queens. That really crushed the meal. We just paid and left. I would go back for the oysters, but, I doubt my husband would. And, really, when I start to think back to the appetizers, there's nothing special enough about the oysters to make a return trip worth it ... even if it's just a few blocks from the movie theater. read more

Ted's is one of those classy-looking, but not over the top type of after work bars where you can easily chill with coworkers. The bar isn't huge, but it's a good size. The dim lighting was a nice touch, but don't let that fool you as it's probably not the best place to bring a date because of the loud music. Happy Hour was from 4-7pm, so we had plenty of time to drink away, but there were only a few drinks offered on the Happy Hour menu. In addition, a few food items were also offered on the HH menu. The regular drinks menu was long, as expected, and there were plenty of cocktails and beers (tap and bottle) to choose from. For food, we didn't get much beyond just bar food. We ordered the Baked Pretzel, Taverna Bratwurst, Crispy Zucchini Chips, Fries and a Charcuterie and Cheese Board. The Baked Pretzel and Taverna Bratwurst were what you'd expect, so nothing bad there. The chips were absolutely addictive, so beware. The fries were also really good, with some feta cheese sprinkled on top. The Charcuterie and Cheese Board was also solid, but not your typical bar food. The bar was pretty full when we came in during a Friday happy hour and stayed that way until we left at 7:30pm. The food was just ok, though. Halloumi cheese: although the flavor was fine, the cheese wasn't warm. Roasted rosemary lamb: the meat wasn't warm either; plus it was kind of lonely... would have tasted better if complemented by more flavors. Dips and warmed pita: tasty, but small portions. Zucchini chips: pretty good, although half chips were soggy. Overall, it's a nice place to hang out with a group of friends, with a killer house red wine. The food could have been prepared with better care, more ingredients in the pita sandwiches and in bigger portions. Happy hour was a good deal, but I'm not sure I'd order food again here. read more

I was reading some of the reviews about Ted's but I have the opposite view. The oysters were unique because they had sliced jalapeños on them served with both lime and blood orange segments. We have never had them like that before. And they were delicious. Now the spicy cauliflower was not spicy at all. We also ordered the truffle flatbread. I could of really skipped both. The flatbread tasted like it came from a box. The mushrooms were eh. A tiny bit of truffle oil on top of the mushroom and cheese flatbread. Definitely not worth it. The service was excellent. The bartender was very nice. The only issue I have is that after we got our entree's no one came by to ask us how it was. Beside that they were very good. Final thought is that if you want good oysters pop in. If you want food you might want to try somewhere else. read more

They serve a complimentary chickpea appetizer. Can never go wrong with fries! The pita with the dips could be better, it comes warm but quickly becomes room-temperatured pita and just isn't as The dips were more than enough for 2 people, definitely not enough pita for the amount that they give though. We asked for more pita, it was $2. For the amount of dip we had, it would be nice if the extra pita was free but that's ok. I had really high expectations for here, but Ted's didn't live up to the hype. Everything was fine; nothing was bad, nothing was great. We decided to split the charcuterie board, 4 dips, zucchini chips, and the chicken pita sandwich. The charcuterie board had a pretty uneven assortment- too much meat, not even cheese. The dips were good, but none of them were outstanding. The zucchini chips were our favorite, however a lot of them were soggy. The pita sandwich was good, but once again lacked flavor. Avoid this place if you can. They are very short staffed. We had to wait for more than 40 minutes for just two pita sandwiches and eventually had to leave with no food. The waiters were so rude and did not apology at all. I honestly don't even want to write this review because Ted's feels like a neighborhood secret and I don't want to have to share. I have never been here (even in pre-Covid times) when it's been overly crowded or loud. The food is great, the place is cozy and intimate, the drinks are great and the prices are awesome. They recently re-opened after being closed temporarily for safety reasons during COVID and have built this beautiful outdoor patio. Freshly stained wood floors, beautiful benches / tables, plants, and a plastic sheeting over the new pergola that provides a surprising amount of warmth. They also have had indoor seating, but the outdoor option is still viable even now as we approach December. Just wear layers! The food is Mediterranean-inspired but there is something for everyone. Flatbreads, sliders, mac & cheese, dips/spreads, fresh pretzels, pasta, salad, fish, grilled octopus?! All of the Mediterranean fare I've tried has been phenomenal. The only thing I didn't care for was the one time I strayed from the tried and true and sampled the mac & cheese - just a bit bland. But please don't go to Ted's for just mac & cheese. Go for their specialty flatbreads and wraps, great happy hour deals, and wide selection of craft beers. They continuously swap out what's on tap and always have a very wide selection to choose from. My boyfriend and I love going here on Thursday/Friday nights for a few beers and a snack. Or, we often say we'll just get snacks but end up ordering the lamb gyro on pita or sliders. read more

Ted's is like sneaky good. So I walk by Ted's all the time and I had no idea it was there, maybe because the sign is so small, but I wish I noticed it sooner. I had the best time there with my friend. We had the onion confit flatbread... OH MY SO GOOD. I recommend this to everyone and their extended family. Their Spanakopita was really good, there were like sesame seeds on it and a little side salad.. it was yummy. Oh and we also split the truffle mac and cheese.... which honestly mmmmm I didn't want to finish because then I wouldn't be eating it anymore. Anyways. I totally recommend eating here. The vibe is really nice. They played a lot of classic rock and I caught myself singing out loud several times ( l was very embarrassed). But the decor is cool, there's like art deco lights above the bar, an assortment of different types of photographs on the walls, and the lighting is very dim. My one complaint was that my waiter took a long time to give us the check and then to give us the change but we were having fun so it didn't bother us. I can't remember the exact deals, but I believe it ends at 7:30 and it's monday through friday.
