If you took a chic, weathered crab shack from the Outer Banks, dragged it through a portal into Lower Manhattan, and compressed it until it was roughly the width of a subway car, you'd end up here. It's a masterclass in spatial denial. The walls are painted a crisp, beach-house white, clearly designed to trick your brain into thinking you're looking at a vast, breezy ocean horizon. But don't be fooled: you are in an architectural hallway, and you are currently sharing a breathing radius with sixty-five strangers and every single square inch of those white walls is working overtime, completely covered in a maximalist collage of framed photos, and random knick-knacks. Finding an open seat in here is a competitive sport. There are maybe twelve stools at the bar, and they are occupied by people who clearly arrived much earlier and plan to be buried there. The rest of the crowd is locked in a polite, permanent game of human Tetris. The Old Fashioned is... fine. It's exactly what you'd get if you Googled a picture of one. It's got the big ice cube, the orange peel that's been twisted with moderate enthusiasm. It's got that classic bourbon bite, but it doesn't tell a story. Then there's the burger. It arrives on a white plate, looking exactly like most other burgers you've ever eaten in a tavern between 14th Street and the Battery. It's a burger with no ego. It's the kind of meal that tastes perfectly good while you're eating it, but you'll struggle to remember it. The fries are the classic thick-cut variety, salty, hot, and quite filling. For us, this a high-velocity New York dinner. No need to linger here. You do not post up after your meal to discuss your five-year plan. Cheers! read more

Pulled up to The Blasket like a grown man who knows exactly what he wants: comfort, meat, and a proper Guinness. Started strong with the potato & leek soup -- hot, hearty, served with Irish brown bread and Kerry Gold butter. Basically a warm hug from Ireland that told me everything was gonna be okay. Then I went full savage with the AN MAC MÓR smash burger & fries. Double patty, American cheese, lettuce, pickles, house sauce... tasted like a Big Mac on steroids that lifts heavy and pays taxes. Zero regrets. And let's be clear: the Guinness on tap here is elite. Creamy, smooth, perfectly poured -- the kind that makes you slow down and nod in approval after the first sip. Dim lights, real pub energy, food that hits, and vibes that don't try too hard. This is how a man eats in Midtown East. read more

Came here with the boys and showed up just in time for happy hour. GREAT happy hour, the selection of drinks for the pricing was outstanding for New York, the vibes inside were super chill and we had a good time. There are a lot of Irish pubs around here, and we were told the best pint of Guinness was here. Unfortunately I don't think Blasket will take the crown. However, it is still a good pour, the proper way and the foam top. The pub vibes are great, and run with care. I also ordered an Irish coffee, but it wasn't to my taste. I think the locals enjoy this place, whether it's grabbing a drink or getting their food options, but I don't think I'll be back. read more

Went for a night cap and it was the spot to be at! Chill yet lively even a little later in the evening. Came in for beer but on my list to come back for the food! Pro tip! You don't need a reservation, you're good to walk in read more

Not the most popular bars around, but also means this place isn't packed to the brim after office hours. Great drinks with happy hour every weekend. Also quick quick quick service. You can also reserve the floor above for anything. You see a sign out up that they are hosting something from XYZ company. Not often though. Otherwise, it's generally pretty open otherwise so good coming in with a group. Both floors have a bar and dedicated bartender. They also know their drinks. I have been to places that didn't know what's a Negroni or Manhattan. You'd have no such problems with this establishment tho read more

It's been a while since I frequented this establishment, but it did not fail me. The Blasket is a solid neighborhood Irish pub with great food and a welcoming vibe. Their smash burger is top-notch--juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right. Pair it with your favorite drink, and you've got the perfect setup for a relaxed and enjoyable evening. read more

The Blasket - Cheers! - Irish Pub Near Me - New York, New York

This charming Irish bar has excellent service and surprisingly - excellent food! We arrived to watch an NFL game and began with draft beers, though they have great cocktails and non alcoholic options. For appetizers we started with the potato and leek soup which is served in a very generous portion along with Irish soda bread and Kerry gold butter. The soup is phenomenal, made fresh in house. We then tried their gin & tonic, made with Elderflower tonic and Irish gin. Highly recommend! For entrees we ordered the grilled chicken Caesar salad which is 10/10; fresh romaine, perfectly dressed, and thin and juicy well-seasoned chicken breast. I ordered the fish & chips which comes with a generous portion of chips, Cole slaw, tartar sauce, ketchup, and lightly battered and tender white fish that has a great flavor. Lastly we ordered the Shepherd's Pie which comes with a delicious salad and is an Irish hug in a bowl - warm mashed potatoes, flavorful ground beef, and fresh vegetables. For dessert we each tried the lava cake served with vanilla ice cream which was the perfect way to end the meal. After the game we toured their private space upstairs that is available for parties. It was gorgeous! Super clean, inviting, fully stocked, and a great second level view of 2nd Ave. read more

Cute, little Irish pub. Service is a bit slow (Sunday afternoon) and I probably should've gotten a beer over an aperol spritz (got watery fast), but I did enjoy my Blasket burger, which was cooked as requested, and fries. I tried one sweet chili wing and it wasn't bad, but I think I would've preferred buffalo sauce in this case, as I wasn't the biggest fan of the sauce. Overall, solid spot; I'll probably be back! read more

Cozy, quaint pub with good service and great mashed potatoes! Great place for a pint.

While the service for outdoor dining was a bit slow, things got better when we moved inside where there are 2 floors, and the service was super friendly. I got the burger with bacon and cheddar, and it was cooked perfectly and super juicy and tender. The fries were also so delicious. I really liked the atmosphere of this restaurant, and it's a great neighborhood find! I'll definitely be back -- especially with HH starting back up again soon they said! read more

My niece recommended this place when my family and I visited NYC recently and I was not disappointed. It's a low key Irish pub and the owner, Liam, is a super nice guy. I had dinner there twice, along with a pint or two of Guinness, and the food was remarkably good. A few days later, my 2 sons and I ran into Liam at Grand Central Station and he recognized and remembered us. Highly recommend read more

This pub is phenomenal. When my friends are in from out of town, they demand to come for their fried chicken sandwich. All of the food is delicious, and the vibes match. Awesome bar. It's a chill environment. It makes me feel like I was in the heart of Dublin. The owner is really cool, friendly and knowledgeable about bars and restaurant throughout the city. I never made it upstairs- I'll comeback another time for that. The restaurant and bathroom are immaculately clean. As for the food...it's delicious. I was surprise... I mean, the Irish aren't really know for their cuisine. I had the cheese bites and Mac and cheese. Excellent. Can't wait until I come back. To the owner, please get a Riesling or a Moscato on the menu. read more

I came here yesterday with my girlfriend for a quick drink so this review is only about the drinks that we both had and the service that was provided. I came here on a Thursday night and it was decently crowded. From the looks of it, the upstairs area had party/work event while the down stairs had some people who were having dinner or casually grabbing a few drinks. Love the dark ambiance of the place as it makes you feel quite intimate. We sat upstairs and had a lovely server who checked up on us constantly and got us everything we needed in a timely fashion. Thank god we didn't have to order food since that has been lifted, but some of the other bars still require this. This was an exception and thank goodness because I really didn't want to tack on another food item to the bill where I would not have finished. I loved how attentive she was even though it was quite busy so service 5/5. For drinks I had a Founders IPA and my girlfriend had a glass of wine. Her glass of wine was fine, but my beer was not very good. It tasted like it had been watered down since it was on draft and got me a little suspicious. Overall I loved the ambiance of the place (5/5) the service that was received (5/5). I did not expect my beer to taste watery so that was a disappointment hence the 4/5 review. I will come back next time to try some of the food. read more

Great food and a lovely cosy bar. However, the barwoman working upstairs on the Saturday night had truly the most terrible attitude and was incredibly rude...so much so that numerous people kept talking about it at the bar read more

I've been to this place twice when I visiting NY last year. Both times we had pleasant experience: bartender knowledge, food, atmosphere is great, yet not close to authentic Irish pubs, which you might anticipate here. Think of your local pub in Irish neighborhood or village -- The Blasket is closer to this type of pubs. The only downside is lack of space for a somewhat big crowd, it was not easy to sit 5 people last time, but the rest of experience is pleasant. Great beer choice, different sides and starters available, main courses are delicious. I would consider this place as my go-to spot whenever I'm in NYC. read more

This is a solid bar, particularly for the UES. The bartenders are friendly and very attentive. They make the experience what it is. The drinks are priced well, and the beers on draft taste very fresh. As for food, I've only had the sausage rolls and they made a perfect smaller meal. read more
