My bf and I were seized by a birria craving, so we ordered takeout on Doordash. We got a quesadilla, tacos, and a birria cup. Each item was around $4 or less, which seems affordable to me. - Quesadilla was soft, cheesy, and lightly crispy. I think it tasted the best with the juicy shredded beef. It came with lime and radish on the side. - Street tacos consisted of fried tortillas topped with juicy shredded beef and lots of cilantro with onion. It was served with a flavorful red salsa (medium spicy) as well as lime and radish. I would have preferred larger chunks of beef instead of ultra-fine shredded beef. - Birria cup (about 6 oz) was filled with consomme broth and birria beef. It came with two small deep-fried tostadas the same size as the street tacos. The birria cup was good, but plain. I doctored it up with some of my own avocado and sour cream. The flavor of the consomme was okay, maybe a little light on beef and chili pepper. I also would have preferred more variation in the texture of the beef, as it was still extremely fine.
It was my first time here because we held a baby shower for a colleague. I ordered the Deluxe Plate because I was hungry! The staff were very friendly and professional! Plus the food didn't take long to come out! Yay! I ate everything on my plate and didn't waste a thing because it was so delish! Nancy was the manager on staff and she was so accommodating and nice! I highly recommend! Thank you!
We tried this taco truck for the first time and the food was tasty, but the portions are small for what you pay for. I would recommend sharing the Deluxe Plate ($15) if you are trying it for the first time so you can sample the birra soft taco, quesadilla, tostada, consume and mulita - just keep in mind that each item are like appetizer size. Our friend got the tostada and it was so tiny that we ended up reordering a burrito to share - a better option if you want something filling. Keep in mind also that the parking is limited next to a previous Weinerschnitzel building.
Food was just ok. My quesadilla and tacos were very greasy and not hot. Parking here is definitely the biggest challenge as there is enough parking for 5-6 cars tops. Don't know if I will be returning anytime soon
Update: 5 days later was reimbursed 1/2 of the bill . I had to follow up and call. They are charging for the horchata and I honestly didn't drink it . Never will I recommend or go here to any of the locations . Unprofessional and rude .
Super cool set up - while the brick and mortar is under construction, they have put one of their trucks to use to build a customer base. Brilliant. I enjoyed the tacos. They are very juicy and very messy. On the smaller side, and the tortillas are fried in the red sauce which give them their distinctive look. My husband LOVED them. His grandma made her tacos the same way and he was happy to finally have something that reminded him of her cooking. Menu is limited but they do what they do best - and stick to it. Definitely worth a try!
My coworker recommended Teddy's and boy it did not disappoint. I ordered the Deluxe Plate Consume with Meat. The meal reminded me of the delicious food that I'd get in Mexico. From their menu, this plate consists of a taco, mulita, tosada, quesadilla, 8oz broth with meat, and tortilla chips. I think the best part of the meal was actually the dipping broth. Apparently Teddy's is actually really famous for their broth and it is very rich in flavor and has a spicy kick to it. It pairs well with a Mexican coke. The meal was extremely delicious after a stressful morning. I'd definitely would come back to this place again in the near future.
Red tacos seem to be all the hype nowadays. This place is supposed to be really good by most accounts. Was going to try Pepe's red tacos on Vermont but came straight home to Downey and tried this place instead. Let me be real. It is NOT BAD. But it is also anything I had to write home to momma about. We tried tacos. A quesadilla. And two small consome's. Here is the tip of day for you. The beef quesadilla actually is more like a Quesataco that they sell at other birria taco spots. All in all, everything had good flavor. The downfall was the wait. Took us a good 15-20 minutes in the drive thru. More like a sit thru. Would I return? Ummmm... being that I grew up with my dad making some of the most bomb home made birria. I would probably say no... honestly, if you want to try the birria tacos, do it. It's not bad. I've been there. Done that. Didn't stay with a feeling of I can't get enough of this place or not just have these tacos again.
Absolute hidden gem here in Whittier. The cosume was some of the best I've ever had. Piping hot and delicious. The service was great and fast! Great shaded area to eat in. Definitely recommend the quesadilla and mulita. Delux combo plate is priced amazingly considering everything you get. Ambiance is relaxed.

Teddy's tacos I discovered them in Venice and found out that they had a taco truck here in Whittier. It is a must try!!! this is my go-to on my cheat days. They got me coming back wanting to cheat every day I love you Teddy.
My best friend needed a ride and said "Hey, let's get something to eat". I picked this restaurant, since I had never been here before. Well, let me tell you it was the perfect choice. I grew up eating Birria from childhood and I tried great birria and some disasters in my life. I'm happy to say that Teddys Red Tacos are some of the best in LA. I ordered Birria tacos and a Consome and it was delicious. I really loved the fact that the Consome was not very grease and easy to drink. I only wished, I had more space in my tummy to eat other items on the menu. They have more than enough ample outside seating. The staff is friendly and wear there mask properly. The parking lot is a bit on the smaller side, yet it's not a huge imposition, since you can always order your food to go. I can't wait to visit LA again and make my way back here.
It's a food truck lol sorry I was expecting an actual location.. but the young staff were very friendly. Food was great but let me just say that their salsa is fireeee ohhhhh mann!!! There pineapple agua fresca was very refreshing. If the near area don't forget to stop by and support the business! Highly recommend this place. I will be back next week :D

The horchata wasn't bad at all. Some would say that when the horchata is good, the rest of the food usually is too, since many fast-food Mexican restaurants rely on powdered horchata served with average-tasting food. The birria was tasty, and although I asked for it extra crispy, I understand some places are hesitant because it can burn. Overall, everything was solid, but I wouldn't consider this my first choice for birria. read more
Food: 2 Deluxe Plates ($15.95 each), 1 Vampiro ($3.99), and 1 Horchata ($3.99). The food here is always tasty. My favorite is the Vampiro! Consume is hot and flavorful. Better when you add the limon. I love their horchata and the portion/cup size is generous. Service: Good service. The order was correct. About a 10 minute wait for food. Ambiance: Food Truck on Whittier Boulevard, with many other trucks. They have 2 tables outside under the lights of the food trucks. read more

Brought a friend here from out of town for an early dinner. Angie and the other gentleman (I didn't catch his name) gave kind and excellent service. The food was awesome, tables outside were very clean and shaded. This was our first time trying birria from Teddy's, it was an excellent experience. We got consommé with meat and quesadillas with cilantro and onions and split a burrito and a large horchata. Everything was absolutely delicious. I wish they were able to serve beer because that's the only thing that would have made it even better but I understand permitting for alcohol on a street isn't even possible. I don't understand how this place doesn't have better reviews. I found Teddy's Red Tacos on Instagram a while back but never got a chance to visit their LA truck location. When I saw that they were opening one in Whittier I knew I had to try them out. I ordered the Birria tacos and consommé. I loved my meal. The tacos were just the right amount of spicy and the consommé made it so much better. Their tacos are affordable and delicious. The parking situation here sucks because it used to be a walk up wienerschnitzel. They do not have indoor seating but they have a few benches for outdoor seating. If it's busy and you don't see any available parking, park at the grocery story behind it. They have plenty of room and it's a very short walk. read more

Honest so disappointed I had such high hopes for this place. I ordered a quesadilla with no meat, the medium consume with meat, and additional tortillas... The quesadilla was terrible! The cheese wasn't melted and it was cold. How is it possible to mess up a quesadilla? The consume had enough meat to make one taco I was give only two lime wedges and no onions or cilantro. It was my first time there so I asked what drinks they had and the guy at the cash register points to the fridge (he had beautiful eyes by the way lol) I didn't know about their drinks until I looked it up on Yelp. Anyways, super sad... so dissatisfied. The flavor was decent for the broth but the quality of my whole meal really was just trash. read more
My girlfriend and I had been driving by this place for months wanting to try it. We finally stopped by right before a concert and honestly, we were disappointed. Overpriced and not as flavorful as birria I've had. If you want better birria, go to Santa Ana. read more
Pros -Quesadilla was okay item. -Cones lined up outside to help aid in social distancing -Outside sitting area Cons -Limit parking -Limit seating -The tortilla were tough -Dulexe Plate price increased (items are small) -Staff fell short with Covid Safety Precautions -Consumé had no meat so I called it Dipping sauce I suggested this place to my husband and told him to try the Deluxe Plate with cheese it came out to around $18 surcharge 4%. My husband didn't understand all the hype after receiving the food cold off a taco truck. I wanted to like this place, but I didn't even bother. I'm guessing this spot is a hit or miss Out of all five employees, only The stocker wear their masks correctly. The cashier had a chin diaper, the cooks and the individual giving out completed orders wear it below their nose, but once they handed the order to us applied their mask on correctly. With the second strand out, practicing COVID safety procedures should be top on the list for customers and employees, and their families safe. read more
Teddy's tacos was delicious. I was bummed about it being beef because I like the goat birria best, but this was equally good. The meat has so much flavor and the tortillas are fried a little, so you get a nice crunch with every bite. The tacos have plenty of meat, but they are little tacos so definitely order more than 2. Also tried the mulita (not pictured) and that was a nice treat too. Don't forget your consume, its nice for dipping your tacos or just eating it like soup. The salsa on tacos has perfect spice, not too hot. Your food is nicely bagged to go, and if there is enough space, you can sit outside on the small tables. read more

Last night we went to go try out teddy's red tacos. I've seen them around a few times so we finally decided to try the place out. For food we got the deluxe plate which has 1 taco, 1 molita, 1 quesadilla, 1 tostada, consume, and some tortilla chips. Unfortunately we didn't get our tostada with our order. We also got 1 pineapple juice and 1 horchata. The horchata and their quesadilla was my favorite that they had. Everything else was just alright. I feel like there wasn't enough flavor in the birria that they made. That also goes for the consume that they give you to dunk your tacos in. All in all I'd only give this place a 3/5. Personally I've had a lot of other Birria spots and this one was just average. Note: park in parking lot in the back! read more

Wow absolutely no place to park obnoxious blasting music right there at the taco truck while you're trying to talk to the people to order your food and then I finally get my Vampiro taco and it's TINY... really ? nearly $4 for this little thing and it didn't even taste that great I would suggest going down the street further to chema's Tacos. read more

I was so excited when they said they had veggie tacos here. Now let's be clear just because I don't eat meat doesn't mean I don't miss it like crazy! Tacos is the one thing that hurts not to eat. As we pull up and I see the glorious letters put together that say veggie tacos my heart gets so excited. Then they said we don't have have any . I know this is a fairly new business so attention owner/managers please put hibiscus tacos on your menu. To cater to Vegetarian/vegan crowd please ! I will love you so much! It literally drove me crazy smelling the food in my car and not being able to eat anything. My friends food was amazing she ate it so fast I couldn't even take a picture because I was driving. It's really good! The trick is to eat the tacos right away or ask for the consume to go, so you can pour it on the tacos later, these are the best I've tasted for miles around. If you don't like cheese ask for your order without. read more

I was so excited that there was a location close to home because I kept hearing about the hype. So we showed up it wasn't too packed the old Wienerschnitzel ordering thing was already open. So I'm with my gf who doesn't speak Spanish, although I speak Spanish I ordered in English and the girl continues to ask questions in Spanish and im answering in English so my gf can understand and she continues to speak Spanish which I find extremely rude. So we ordered the deluxe platter because we wanted to try a little of everything it was supposed to come with a taco, quesadilla , mulita, tostada and chips with consomé and we got two extra tacos on the side and asked for the salsa on the side. When we get home (we live 6 minutes away) our food was cold, there were no chips, and no salsa on the side we never found a tostada on our plate and assumed they subbed a taco for tostada but after looking at pictures I'm thinking that it was just soggy at that point. I am extremely disappointed with the customer service and the quality of food. Never going back. Also when I tried to call the phone number on the receipt to complain about my missing items and cold food the phone number did not work. read more
