Cool local spot 4 some good burritos tacos & fruit drinks some of my personal favorites are the agua fresca drinks you got to get there early they run out of the the good flavors currently drinking a pineapple one which is very good for burrito I go with the saw the burritos really good and they have one of the better crunchy fish tacos I've had definitely recommend that

    Chips and salsa to go

I ordered the 3 tacos combo and it's supposed to come with chips and a soda and rice and beans. The chips were half filled in the little bag they provided and they do not let you pick your own salsas to go which were also tiny. Secondly worker gave us our food and forgot to give us a soda, which i had to remind him. Then he proceeded to tell us the soda machine wasn't working and told us to get a soda from the fridge. I picked out a glass bottle of soda and was about to walk out when he yelled that it's an extra charge and it has to be a can of soda instead which is not part of the combo because it should've been the fountain soda in the first place. Overall lot of up charge for the little amount of food that they give you and they didn't mention the chile was an extra charge on top of the food. I also ordered a Torta and fish tacos which didn't have a lot of ingredients for the price that they charge you. There are better options nearby that will not up charge for salsas and chiles and not cheap with the chips or ingredients. customer service was 2/5 as well.

The two chicken taco combo was delicious. The tortillas tasted homemade. The chicken was very tender. The rice and beans were cooked very well. The service was great. And the ambiance feels like you can dance because the music they are playing.

This is the spot if you want a authentic Mex food. Spicy and flavor level is perfect and customer service by far the best for restaurant around the area. Come give these guys a try.

I really wanted to like this place but it was a little disappointing. The pictures on their website and all over their restaurant looked way better than it actually looked in person. When we ordered, I was disappointed to hear that they were out of fish tacos and guacamole. They were set to close in an hour. Fish tacos appears to be their signature item though and I was looking forward to trying it. You walk up to the counter to order and they bring the food to you. We ordered: 3 Taco combo (Al Pastor, Shrimp and Chicken) Individual Tacos: Al Pastor, Shrimp and Asada The first thing I noticed was the lack of presentation. The Corn tortillas were not warm and soft. Almost as if they were quickly put together. Least favorite: Asada Shrimp- tender but lacking in flavor Al Pastor- favorite of the 3 tacos. Good flavor. Grilled. Tacos didn't have much filling. It seemed like they were trying to stretch out the meat they had since there were people still coming in even though they close at 8pm (for a Friday?) Chicken taco - not much flavor. Moist. Rice and beans - tasty Roasted Yellow Pepper- known for them. Very good. Great roasted flavor with a little sweetness. Foam plates? Maybe I wouldn't have minded if the food was amazing. For a restaurant, I would expect something more than foam plates. Definitely not worth the $$ for the food. Left still feeling hungry Not sure I would come back.

I've had a positive experience every time I come here. Food is fresh and portion are a good size. Taco Tuesday offers a free fish taco with a purchase of any taco. Items ordered: fish tacos, agua de piña con chamoy and Tajín. Overall, I thought that fish tacos were great. They were cooked perfected and bartered just right. The salsa was good and offered just the right amount of spice. The pineapple water was super delicious. My 3 year old devoured the entire thing. Overall, fast service and plenty of space inside. The employees are generous and the inside is always looking clean. Good food and descent prices.

Good food, lousy service. The guy was never friendly. Ignored my requests. Never gave me my veteran's discount.

Sadly they cannot get the order right. I always order 'SHRIMP' crunchy tacos and end up getting fish.

Delicious fish tacos. Reminds me of the tacos from San Felipe when I was a kid. They have a variety of delicious aguas as well.

    Are they still in business?

I can't speak about today, but I did go there about a month ago and find them in business.

Is this an actual good place ? or is this like " la mirada good " mexican food place lol

Personally it is very good. Definitely better than most Mexican places around here. It's not a restaurant where you sit and they take your order. Service is fast and food is fresh.

Are the owners the same people of the previous business sugar and spice?

No. It is a new owner and new restaurant.

That's a lot for a $19 order (4 tacos and one burrito). I did not see any notices for a credit card fee. If there are any signs, someone feel free to correct me and show me a photo and time stamp, I'll gladly revise my review. This is a very small taco place with very limited parking. You're better off parking along the streets and walking here. It's a casual dining so you order and then sit wherever you want. There's indoor and outdoor seating. During rush hour, it's pretty hectic. The salsa and toppings bar is located right next to the ordering line, so people were constantly squeezing past each other to get through. It wasn't very convenient, and with the restaurant already being on the smaller side, it could easily feel cramped and overwhelming for anyone who doesn't like tight spaces. However, I do like that there is an open salsa and toppings bar. They even have pickled onions, radish, and carrots. The salsas were very good as well, not overly spicy. I tried the carne asada, pastor, and chicken tacos. All of which were really good and well marinated. Meats were tender and not dry at all. Just on the taste alone, I'll definitely be back and will be paying with cash or debit next time. They definitely need a warning for credit surcharges and hopefully it won't be a rush hour next time I go.

I went on a taco run yesterday to try to find the best taco in Whittier…read more Started off the run with a keto taco mixed with asada and al pastor and then a regular tripa taco. Keto taco - toasted/grilled cheese instead of a regular tortilla - needed to be done a little more on one side as the cheese wasn't quite toasty enough to stay in place to slightly resemble the shape of a taco. Bit hard to eat, covered my hands in grease. Asada tastes almost boiled, and this being my 2nd or 3rd time getting the Asada here, it consistently tastes like it was boiled and not grilled. Unsure of meat quality or preparation, but there are no grill marks and it's a bit chewy. Same with the al pastor. Tripa taco was bizarre. Strips of flat skin instead of the usual roundish, cylindrical shape of tripa (intestine). Usually a saltier, fattier meat than asada, which is my preference but the one here was lacking in flavor and the texture threw me off a bit. Tripa can be chewy - unless requested extra done, which is how I normally order it - but there was no saving this tripa. I think it needs to be sliced differently, the cuts made it inedible. Brother shared some of his chorizo taco and it was the better of the bunch. Red chorizo, TJ style, although it was also lacking a teeny bit in flavor... onions and cilantro to the rescue! Still, mediocre. Salsas were ok, nothing out of the ordinary. Don't think the tortillas were homemade. Service was fine, cashier takes your order, dude at the counter was chill and had a friendly attitude. Seating was limited. Mostly bar style seating but the majority was in front of a window and it had so much heat trapped from the glass that it was kind of uncomfortable. Other seats are too close to the bathroom. Good for a quick bite or just pick-up orders. Wouldn't plan a sit down/dine-in visit. Parking is scarce and has really small spots, wouldn't come if you're driving a pick-up truck or anything like that. Food was reasonably priced, which is good, however; the food was lacking so I would not return.

We were in the area and craving some tacos…read more Wow! I was pleasantly surprised by how great our experience was. We ordered the O.G. Burrito with carne asada ($13.99) and the O.G. Plate with beef birria ($18.99). While the food took a little while to come out, it was absolutely worth the wait. The O.G. Burrito was generously filled with cheese, rice, beans, and tender carne asada, all wrapped in a perfectly toasted tortilla. The meat had a wonderful smoky flavor, and the burrito itself was huge, making it a filling and satisfying meal for the price. The highlight for me was the O.G. Plate, which came with a taco, quesataco, mulita, and quesadilla. Everything was loaded with meat and toppings, served piping hot, and cooked to crispy perfection. Every single item on the plate was delicious! I also loved that both entrées came with pickled radishes, red and green salsa, and plenty of lime wedges. The service was excellent as well. The staff was attentive and quick to accommodate anything we needed. The restaurant is located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. While indoor seating is limited, there is ample outdoor seating. Overall, Papis Tacos and Churros was an unexpected gem that delivered on great food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere. I've been thinking about this meal ever since, and I can't wait to come back!
