I'm certainly never going to Reventaco again. The service was abysmal, the prices were crazy high, and the food was barely adequate at best. When I got there at 6:05 PM, the sign outside up above with the name of the restaurant wasn't even turned on. There were no customers inside, and no one was behind the counter. Soon someone came out of the kitchen. He answered my question about taco Tuesday and immediately went back into the kitchen instead of taking my order, leaving me standing there for a while. The tacos were $4.10 each, and if you bought two you got one free. That base price is more than twice what they charge at Jim's Burgers for taco Tuesday and nearly twice what other restaurants charge for a taco. One of the tacos I got was Al Pastor. It had some kind of fruit, probably pineapple, mixed in with the meat! The carnitas were dry. The clerk hadn't asked me if I wanted onion or cilantro and just automatically put them on all the tacos. Don't make the mistake of eating at Reventaco. I would've gotten a better dinner for less at any taco stand on the street. read more

I've been a long time customer and really enjoy the food but they have been going down hill lately. Only one person working the counter so longer wait time. Their soda machine is always down. I ordered the 3 tacos combo and it's supposed to come with chips and a soda and rice and beans. The chips were half filled in the little bag they provided and they do not let you pick your own salsas to go which were also tiny. Secondly worker gave us our food and forgot to give us a soda, which i had to remind him. Then he proceeded to tell us the soda machine wasn't working and told us to get a soda from the fridge. I picked out a glass bottle of soda and was about to walk out when he yelled that it's an extra charge and it has to be a can of soda instead which is not part of the combo because it should've been the fountain soda in the first place. Overall lot of up charge for the little amount of food that they give you and they didn't mention the chile was an extra charge on top of the food. I also ordered a Torta and fish tacos which didn't have a lot of ingredients for the price that they charge you. I really wanted to give this place another chance because the fish tacos are honestly so delicious. Unfortunately, our second visit was even worse than the first. We arrived on the evening of April 12, not realizing it was close to closing time--but that shouldn't excuse the experience we had. From the moment we walked in, there was no greeting at all. The employee at the register (I believe his name was Fernando) was extremely cold and unwelcoming. There was no effort to communicate beyond telling us what was unavailable. We were told they were out of fish and another item, so we ordered shrimp tacos instead. A few minutes later, I went back to add to our order and was then told they had also run out of chicken. It felt very disorganized, and the lack of communication made the whole interaction awkward and uncomfortable. The service overall was just incredibly poor--no personality, very short responses, and not even basic customer service. The only indication he was even engaged was that he was moving around. To make matters worse, as soon as we walked out with our to-go order, the lights were literally turned off. When we got home, our tacos were cold, which was really disappointing. The Corn tortillas were not warm and soft. Almost as if they were quickly put together. Least favorite: Asada Shrimp- tender but lacking in flavor Al Pastor- favorite of the 3 tacos. Good flavor. Grilled. Tacos didn't have much filling. It seemed like they were trying to stretch out the meat they had since there were people still coming in even though they close at 8pm (for a Friday?) Chicken taco - not much flavor. Moist. Rice and beans - tasty Roasted Yellow Pepper- known for them. Very good. Great roasted flavor with a little sweetness. Foam plates? Maybe I wouldn't have minded if the food was amazing. For a restaurant, I would expect something more than foam plates. Definitely not worth the $$ for the food. Items ordered: fish tacos, agua de piña con chamoy and Tajín. Overall, I thought that fish tacos were great. They were cooked perfected and bartered just right. This place is hard to miss as it takes up a long stretch of building with a bright sign in the shopping center next to Home Depot. Being a Whittier native, thought I'd finally better try this spot. They have a good sized menu offering classic mexican foods as well as some things that were new to me (gobernador looks amazing ) I had the fish taco plate and my boyfriend had the shrimp quesadilla. Both were really good but expect this to be homestyle cooking, not for the health conscious. My boyfriend was in love with the tamarindo and was so happy that they sell it for take home in small cups. If the restaurant got an interior facelift with upgraded seating, less flies and clean floors/ tables, I think it would better match the quality of food and service offered here. This is a top choice! We eat here at least once a week. We have had their tacos, shrimp, fish, asada, carnitas. Ceviche, and cocktel. Tacos Dorados and baja fries, their 2, 3 taco plates combos their rice and beans, and everything I've mentioned is delicious ! I'm missing their tortas and burritos ! And with the burrito I close. I get the fish burrito no beans (I'm particular about tasting the fish )add cotija cheese. Grab their green or red salsa and their chile guero oof you won't regret. Get an horchata ! Or any water ! It used to be my favorite fish taco place in La Mirada - but unfortunately it seems like the quality of food has gone down hill and they are penny pinching wherever they can - and it's very apparent. I have been comfortable paying $4 per taco because of the quality of fish taco and the fact that they are generous with the condiments they provide. At that price point I expect more. However, I have seen that lately the size of the fish in the fish taco is significantly smaller - enough that now I need to eat two tacos to feel satisfied when before I only ate one and I was good - two and I was stuffed. In addition, the staff are starting to limit you in the condiments you can request. Before I was not limited to how much of a condiment I requested - I add a lot of salsa to my tacos - but now when I saw the new salsa container size about half the original container size, I was asked by a staff member with a tie how many salsa containers I wanted - when I specified how many I wanted, he indicated there was now a limit and he could only give me one small salsa container for every two tacos - similar to the limits of King Taco (which I don't frequent due to their penny pinching). There is no sign yet, but I'm sure one must be coming (just like the sign limiting lemons and Chile Guero's). All in all, I am very disappointed in the way Reventaco is now being managed. The smaller size in the fish portions and the penny pinching of condiments really puts it outside of the premium taco category, which is where I felt they were positioned when I first started frequenting the restaurant for my fish taco needs. That has ended, and will not think about purchasing from Reventaco in the future. Instead of going to Reventaco, if you don't want to drive to Taco Nazo, I recommend trying Ortega's Fish Grill in Whittier. Last Friday, in observance of lent, I tried purchasing fish tacos from Reventaco but they ran out of fish (I had to wait 15 minutes before being told this in restaurant). I decided to make a fish taco order online at Ortega's Fish Grill and it was ready for pick up in 10 minutes, although the restaurant was very busy! Those tacos were really good, same size as Reventaco, and were only $6 for 3 tacos! Highly recommend! read more
