However, being made in America is a noticable selling point that stuck with me. Once inside, I was warmly greeted by Theresa from the sales staff and to be truthful, I never spoke to anyone in the footwear buisness that was as knowledgeable as she is. My dress shoes are always high quality, typically Italian -- some I even purchased there, yet Theresa was more knowledgeable. I stepped on the machine that gives information on your feet, pressure, pronation, arch, etc. This was a great day in my footwear purchasing history as I learned so much about Red Wing and all they do for their customers to support their products, I wish I could have bought multiple pairs.

I picked up a few pairs recent and two were on the back wall so they were an additional 30% off which was great. I also grabbed a pair of 2002Rx's in navy which isn't always easy to find so they were $150 with no sales... which is expected. I have had the tanger app forever and there are always coupons and such so I pulled it up and there was a weekend promotion going on and it was the last day. I tried to use it and instead of trying any of them, the manager just said that only the lesser one worked and it wouldn't work on clearance... which is expected. I asked why the lesser coupon would work but not the larger one and he said New Balance doesn't really like to participate in the tanger deals because they're more of an elevate brand and don't like to be associated with coupons. Last I checked, we were at a "factory store" in an outlet mall so discounts is the name of the game here. I wasn't looking for anything extra, I just want to make sure that if there is a discount available, I'd rather not pay extra or to be made like I'm a cheapo for trying to do so. I've never understood that with retail workers in a corporate store... like, the money isn't going into your pocket, why wouldn't you try to get the customer a better deal? Aside from that interaction at the register, the employees were very helpful and the store is super clean and organized. I'm sure I'm sure I'll be back, but I can find great deals online too.

I like the fit, not so much the quality and much less the customer service. I was recently at the store in Raleigh and I could see a lot better inventory than the Outlet and the employee at the outlet said they can't compete with the stores and they carry only the "lemons" however the prices aren't any lower at this place to make me go back.

I will say though that was slightly disappointed that there were so few selections for both men & women that were labeled as L or XL. Also, I was hard pressed to find any slacks that were not cut "slim fit". I'm kinda stocky, so those don't fit me too well. (That's the lost star.) They had a nice selection of shoes, both business casual and sporty styles. I like supporting brick and mortar stores, but I may find myself visiting H&M online more because there is a larger selection.

One thing I don't love is the sizing can really be all over the place... even in the same item. When shopping online it makes me hesitant to order something if I'm worried about it fitting right. It was always nice being able to go into the store and try a few different options. Then a while back, the King St store closed. Then the only store in SC was in Myrtle at the Coastal Grand mall. Anytime I ended up there I would pop in, but only a couple times a year. Then that store closed too and there were no in store options for try ons or easy returns. I heard they re-opend a store on King St about a year ago and I finally checked it out last weekend. At first I was skeptical that there was no men's department (which many stores have done now), but it was just in the back. It was a much smaller selection compared to the old store, but it at least gave me some options. I found a pair of pants that I liked, but they didn't have my size. The woman who helped me with the dressing room offered to find them online and it could be ordered if needed. I have the app so I checked online myself and saw that the pant I was looking at didn't have any larger sizes. I asked her if she could double check and when she did she found larger sizes and other color options. She was super helpful and had the pants shipped to my house for free. I'll definitely be going to this store for try ons... even if the selection for mens is smaller.
