With 25 different types, we thought it best to have a trained salesperson help him. Carolyn started by measuring his feet. It came as no surprise that the size, and shoes sold to him, from that popular shoe outlet, were not correct as far as length and width. The staff here is absolutely incredible. They could charge for gate evaluations, but they do it for free anyways! I had so many issues with my arches and running gate. Carolyn and Nathan helped get me suited with the proper orthotic inserts, shoes, and wedges. I went from insanely painful short runs to the longest, fastest, and most comfortable I've ever felt running. Frustrated with trying to find a proper fitted shoe for physical activity, I was reminded that The Foot Store actually has something missing from most other shoe stores: EXPERTISE. Sure enough, they measured and examined my feet and studied my walking habits, then sold me a shoe that was perfectly sized and suited for my needs. I'm really shocked I hadn't reviewed The Foot Store yet, because I've recommended it to several people looking to buy shoes. If you are an injured runner or have any sort of foot issue or pain, The Foot Store is the place to go and Carolyn is the lady to talk to. In fact, Carolyn has earned the title of "The Foot Whisperer" among some of the local running groups. She has several physical therapy and foot therapy certifications and many years of experience. In Summer of 2014, I got a season-ending foot injury on the track. I visited an ortho for x-rays and tests and was diagnosed with a calcaneal (heel) stress reaction. When I was allowed to run again 7 weeks later, my first stop was to The Foot Store for advice on new shoes to hopefully prevent this injury from recurring. Carolyn was more helpful than my doctor was, analyzing my stride and giving me tips and stretches to prevent future injuries. My doctor figured out WHAT my injury was, but Carolyn explained the WHY. Several of my friends with plantar fasciitis and other issues visited The Foot Store for help as well, and all were very satisfied. If you are not a runner, but need any sort of orthotic or insert, The Foot Store is the place to go. They do sell some casual shoes as well as shoes for professions like nurses who are on their feet a lot. You may have to make an appointment to see Carolyn or wait in line (seriously), but it is well worth it. They do not try to sell or force anything on you, but the service is good enough that you'll want to buy. read more

Had 4 pair of shoes lifted on the right shoe to compensate for a 1/2 inch deficit. After 11 months of light use, the insert material is clearly degrading and the bonding agent has failed to hold the the tread to the insert material. I reached out to the owner regarding the failure and received no response. Would not recommend. read more

Just left the foot store. I had to convince my mother to go to an actual running store like this - as she's the type to just buy shoes wherever. She was blown away by how much time and care they spent - measuring her foot, watching her walk etc. This place is top notch in terms of service and expertise. There was a small wait on a Saturday afternoon but we were taken care of quickly. She asked the person who helped us a variety of questions and he had answers for everything. I've never shopped here but I was in the area and my brother needed new running shoes. I had heard they are great at fitting you in the right shoes and have a great selection. We had to wait but there were a couple of people ahead of us. It was worth the wait! The lady who helped my brother really took her time and gave great suggestions. I had a wonderful experience at the foot store this morning. The Foot Store was recommended to me by a coworker at the hospital. I told her how I was having shin splints, back pain, and foot pain with my Asics. She suggested I stop in to see what the Foot Store had to say. I came in this morning around 11 and they were busy! Despite being so busy, customer service was on point. I was immediately greeted and asked what I was looking for. I relayed my discomforts to the gentleman and he found the perfect shoe for me. He assessed my walking, sized my foot, assessed my arch, and what I wanted out of my shoe. I was happy to purchase a pair of Hoka One-Ones knowing that my foot problems will be a problem of the past! I could go to a large chain store and fumble around, searching for the shoe I think I need or I can come here and know that I'm making the best choice and getting the best quality shoe. I am so happy that my husband and I went her rather than our regular place. The staff here takes time to really ensure that you are in the correct shoe. Other places watch a video of your ankles while you run on a treadmill, and make their judgment based solely on this. The Foot Store measures you feet, watches how you run, and has you do a few other tests to ensure that you are in the proper shoe and proper fit. In spite of the mixed reviews of The Foot Store, I had a really good experience at the Mt. Pleasant location. Strangely enough, one of the more challenging things about moving to a new city was losing my running store and needing to find a new place to trust. I haven't run regularly for a couple of years due to injuries and I really needed good shoes. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and the woman who helped me was very friendly and spent a lot of time watching my foot strike and gait and asked about my injuries. Great experience! The fitting couldn't have been more professional. I was not an easy fitting with a history of several foot problems. Our sales rep was a lady who was an avid runner and really took my interest in distance walking seriously. Decided to purchase two pairs of shoes and got a great deal. I wanted to add, we came back a few days after buying the shoes as my shoe had changed my gait. I was having excruciating pain in left hip/ piriformis muscle was taut and in a rope like cramp. Explaining this to Carolyn she watches me walk and takes my left shoe to back room- now gives back and I feel something is different in a good way- she shows me tiny quarter size piece of thin cardboard --as thin as a greeting card in heel area under insole. Fixed it in a few hours and continued to relax the spasms. Still best pair of walking/running shoe I have ever felt. Make the investment in Carolyn's shoes, and her incredible knowledge--your feet will never feel better, and if your feet feel good nothing can stop you! read more

AMAZING! Do not even think about going anywhere else for your running/walking/exercise needs! I have been a runner most of my life and have had on and off issues with my feet. I've been told it was the wrong shoe, wrong insert, no insert, see a podiatrist, see an orthopedist, see a chiropractor, stretch more, etc. I have been to marathon expo after expo to hear one variation or another of this. Don't waste your time and money on that stuff until you go and see Carolyn! She is the owner, and by far the most knowledgable person I've ever spoken to on shoes. She listened to my problem, put my in the right shoes (I was in the wrong ones), and showed me exercises to do at home to help alleviate my pain. I've had 1st metatarsal pain for YEARS and after having my annual physical this morning, my internist told me to go see Carolyn. My only regret is that I didn't know about her sooner! I went in to see if arch support would help my foot pain. The staff seems knowledgeable enough. I bought a Spenco RX Arch Cushion at their recommendation. They charged me $38, I found it on the internet for $12.97. Maybe it was worth it to get checked out and the right shoe insert recommended but I think I could have done this on the internet and saved $20. Do your homework before you go in....... read more

The Foot Store was recommended to me for my plantar fasciitis a few years ago. They were great-knew what would help me. I ended up with Asics with Birkenstock inserts and have had no pain since. Recently, I went back to purchase some more Asics and they were no longer made in the size,style and color I wanted. So I tried Altra instead, which has a wide toe box also. Shoes feel really good, but I had to order the second pair I wanted to buy. After the second pair did not arrive promptly, I got a call from them offering to refund me. I decided to wait. A few more weeks and finally they came in. A problem with the manufacturer not shipping them became a customer service issue for the Foot Store, which they handled by offering me a refund or huge discount on another product-above and beyond in my opinion. I took it as a store credit and brought home another pair of shoes, as well. Great customer service in a situation beyond their control shows why I BUY LOCAL whenever I can.
